[Adopted] Mature 1/6 Dolls

Sep 27, 2012

    1. Update: They did NOT understand 100% of what I asked... More like 10%. So I'm as wise as before. The only thing I have confirmed is that Yoybuy is willing to place the order for me. Which is at least... something? ^^;

@Lilla I agree it's super confusing and frustrating because I really just want to throw my money at them to get one of their beautiful dolls!!

I'm sorry! I don't want continue spamming this thread with my Compassion Doll ordeal so I might just open a new thread asking for help. Maybe someone else has had a similar experience and got some advice. :)

    2. @heliocoelin I am interested in your buying adventures!! Please let us know how it goes... hahaha.

@Lilla You could use an agent! It's still a little confusing, but it is a bit easier than trying to just use Taobao directly...?

    3. I've so far avoided ordering from a BJD company without an English website, but I know others have ordered through Taobao agents without problems. I was looking at Xaga Doll's site and saw they have 5 more girls in the Red Obsidian line! Does any one know if they have the same body as Lara? I really like Mini Ann...

    4. @Idoru Haha thanks! Just posted my cry for help... ;A;

@Leo Pheonix So far I have avoided buying from websites outside of Europe, haha! (Mostly bc customs is curel and greedy in my country...) But I want these dolls SO FREAKING MUCH! T__T

I'll seriously stop talking about this in this thread now. Sorry again!

    5. @Leo Pheonix I have a Mini Ann! It's not the same body as Lara, though I think you can order that head on that body. It's a less mature body--it's the one that's shared with the Asleep Eidolon mature 1/6s (Cordelia is the only girl I think).

      Avery is a Mini Ann!"

Still a partial bubble wrap mummy!

No longer a mummy, just not as full an angle.

    6. Thanks Idoru! I'd like to get a Xaga Doll girl at some point, though I'm currently saving for a Little Monica Muse hybrid.

    7. Woah, this body is so much more to my tastes than the Lara body. Thanks for the pictures, Idoru. ^^

    8. @Idoru , this is a lovely doll. Do you have a wig and eyes for her?

Regarding taobao agents, how do you find one and how do you know he/she is a good one? I assume, in the case of the doll not being made because of lack of interest, we would get our money back?

I am used to buying through dealers or English websites so this is a whole new world for me!

    9. @Lilla Thank you! She does have a wig and eyes, and actually probably the biggest wardrobe of all my dolls... she's pretty spoiled.

The wig and eyes in question!

This body can wear the outfits of those STEM themed dolls they have...

And this fancy Momoko dress (sort of, the velcro is a bit off in the back)

As for using an agent, it's a lot like buying through a dealer! When you're looking at the service, just look up reviews. I use Yoybuy and I've only ever had one problem. I think in this case (reading the thread that @heliocoelin posted!), it was a misunderstanding. If you want to order from Taobao, PM me--I have a referral code and HOT TIPS. I'm happy to help out if you need me too! My biggest piece of advice is to add about 10% on to the price for service fees, and pay for shipping only after your items have arrived at the warehouse.

    10. For agents for use with Taobao there is also Spreenow. I just used them for a purchase myself. The site is very easy to use and everything is translated into English already. If you have questions, the customer service person is very friendly. :)

I did a search for Compassion Doll on Spreenow and only one boy came up. But if you have the link from taobao to the item you want, you can put that in the search bar and it should pull up that listing for you.

    11. @Lilla @Idoru I think you might want to check out the answers @Anivyl posted in my help thread. She was kind enough to translate their description and message Compassion Doll. But there's bad news...

    12. Thanks @Idoru for the information, your doll is lovely, I don't know how you succeeded in painting her so well, she has such a small face!

Thanks @LuckyXIII , I have found Elvis and the others: Search Taobao , just press 'search' once again.

@heliocoelin , thank you so much for your help thread.

@Anivyl , thank you for helping us. We certainly needed the input!

I don't like the 'press the button 'delivered' though the doll hasn't been delivered'. I'll pass. It is all a great pity as the doll is wonderfully sculpted. :crushed

    13. you're welcome!

yeah, I mean I can understand why the seller wants us to click that the item has been received, when it hasn't - it's to make sure no one flakes on them. but I won't feel comfortable with that either. I mean, minor flaws in the doll is fine. but if he sends a broken doll and... yeah. lol.

again, happy to help any time :)

    14. @Lilla one thing one has to keep in mind is that if the artists get's the doll cast professionally by a company (which seems to be the case here, hence the min order) they will also have to pay for the casting upfront. And boy, that's expensive! I'm sculpting my own doll and looking at casting company prices a 30cm doll costs around 70$ (per doll plus shipping) maybe a bit less in China but it's still not a small sum. Maybe 500-700$ for 10 dolls. I think Taobao doesn't transfer the money to the seller until the buyer has clicked received to avoid scamming. However that also means the artist will not get the money to pay the casting company until the buyer has confirmed. That's quite a predicament and I think the reason why the Compassion Doll came up with these rules for ordering.

    15. ah, yes yes. taobao doesn't give the seller money at all till we have confirmed receipt of items, if i remember correctly. there's also things to keep in mind: taobao also has a refund/return to seller option as long as we have not received an item.

    16. Yesterday my lovely new addition to the crew arrived, and she is my first mature tiny. She is just 33,5cm and aboslutely stunning, very well made and a great poser. I had an eye on the Russian tinies for quite a while, most of them are mature and they're all tiny, but some are only available in porcelain. If I had seen Kim from KKerrindolls within the order period, I would have wanted her, but I was too late. But I found Rachel instead and just couldn't resist.
Now she just needs a wig and something to wear. And a face, of course.

In case you're interested to read more about her..

By the way, does anyone have a mudoll Apple Jay? Mudoll (Glib) is another source for tiny wigs, maybe clothes- tiny is so different from tiny ;)

    17. ResinRapture,
Congratulations on the new doll. I'm a fan of Olga Reingard dolls. They are beautiful and elegant. They are suitable for different styles. And I like their light smiles.

    18. @abris Thank you. They are. I love their maturity and the body seems to find the poses all by itself.

    19. ResinRapture,
Yes, these dolls can show very realistic poses. More earlier series of them had the another type of knee joints.
This way my doll has a some troubles with a posing. The current series of her dolls have more perfect knee joint.

    20. @ResinRapture I'd never heard of Kkerrindolls, so thank you for mentioning them! I really love the tiny Lola! (Actually glad I didn't find out about her until after the preorder period, because I really can't afford to be buying more dolls right now... :XD:) Your new girl is gorgeous, too!

    21. @heliocoelin Thank you. It depends, she has different dolls sizes on offer, but she also makes beautiful eyes, 4,6 and 8mm. Rachel wears 6mm. She usually has wigs too, but they're sold out at the moment.

@abris Mine came sueded, which helps her keep positions. I know she was jointed differently in previous versions, I've seen pictures of older bodys. May I ask if you made her clothes or if not, what size they are? I thought Action Figure clothes and shoes might fit her, but I haven't tried it yet. I just know that Taeyang boots fit her flat feet.

      @Idoru Thank you :)
@CaityJay My pleasure. (And Kkerridolls are lovely, but as you said, I was kind of glad they are limited and I was too late ;)

    22. @Idoru Thanks a lot, I like to share photos of my doll :)
I'm happy to talk here, but my English language skills are weak, that's why I make a new posts very rarely and using Google Translate or my husband.
@ResinRapture Her knitted clothes (cardigan, neckwarmer, etc) were made by me. Jeans and shoes made by my friends.
There are several craftsmens from Russia and Belarus, who sew things for Olga's dolls in different styles: casual, romantic, boho and so on.
Partially the clothes from Fashion Royalty mens (jeans and t-shirts) can suit to these dolls. But it should be noted, in many cases the outwears sleeves will be short.
Action Figure shoes from soft plastic are also suitable for them, but you shall warm it up to put it on.

    23. @abris Thanks for all the info :)

    24. I just discovered how much I like mature tinys TODAY after seeing 5stardoll Miss S (and her very cheap price). There are a few more that I really love, but it looks like their companies don't sell them anymore :( (Xaga Lara, Lumedoll Elin, DIM Alana).
I'm interested in Compassion doll but for some reason I cannot get the site to translate at all! Could someone show me the dolls & prices somehow?

    25. I also rather like Miss S, but am struggling to see the doll behind the horrible clothing! Does anyone have better photos, particularly of the head and face?

    26. @DeliriumRapture Xagadoll still makes Lara! Here's a link to the sales page on their Taobao, and here she is on Alice Collections. Lara is quite cute! The others you are correct about, though! I'd not seen Miss S before--she's cute!

@fjm123 I had the same issue... Unfortunately I found a couple box opening videos, but not too many good pics of her face or anything... Still, she's got a lot of potential I think!

      • x 1
    27. I was hoping for a close up of the face - the nude Miss S photos are a bit distant and minimal!

    28. The quest for compassion will be our demise I'm sure... XDD
No kidding tho, I'm so frustrated I started sculpting my own 1/6 doll I figure I'll finish that sooner than I'll get my hands on Flynn or Elvis. TwT

    29. @ResinRapture What a lovely Rachel you have, congrats! I've been looking for a mature 1/6 doll for ages and this doll might finally be it for me. Love the delicate knee and elbow joints. :D Do you have any idea how well this doll would work with regular 1/6 furniture and other stuff? I'm worried if she'd be too tall for chairs etc as she's over 30 cm tall. I really need a doll that could use my 1/6 furniture as I have quite many already and no one to use them.

    30. @AnnieStar Thank you. I can't really tell you because I don't have any furniture in that size. But clothes will not fit her. Ancient tales has some 21 cm dolls as well.

    31. @ResinRapture Ok, thanks anyway! I noticed her smaller dolls, but those would be too small for my purposes. I even got myself a Pullip, well Dal actually, but she's too short for the 1/6 chairs being around 26 cm tall. Her legs would just hang in the air when sitting. That's why I think closer to 30 cm would be better. Just need to continue my investigations for perfect match then.

    32. I agree she looks better w/o eyelashes. I painted upper eyelashes my Dollzone 19cm tiny - but ended up erasing them, they looked dumb.

    33. Have you looked into momonita from atelier momoni? Although she might also be a little short. I think she is 27cm but maybe with her high heel shoes it could work.

I have some furniture and I have an ancient tales plus a momonita doll. I'll take some pics for you this week.

    34. @mjtomich Yes I have been checking Momonita too. She might be a good option too, just undecided if she'd be too cartoonish for me. She's really cute though and I like her hands and joints. I would still prefer something more mature and lifelike and Ancient Tales Rachel would definitely fit that spot. If you have time to take the photos I would be forever grateful. :D

    35. Will do! I've got some bratz doll furniture within reach, I might have some other furniture but not sure on the scale.:)

Do you know how high your furniture/chair stands of the ground? I can try to find something that is similar in height.

    36. @mjtomich Just measured some of my 1/6 chairs. The sitting height on them varies between 7.5 cm and 8.5 cm. I'be been using some of the chairs on Monster high dolls and they are a good match. But on my Dal/Pure Neemo hybrid pretty much every chair I have is too high and feet don't touch the ground anymore.

    37. @AnnieStar
Okay, I found a bench that is about 8 cm tall. And I used a bratz chair at about 7cm.
I also did some comparisons with my barbie and soom mini gem. album link: 1/6 comparison

      [IMG]1/6 comparison

    38. @mjtomich Thank you so much for the pics! :D Both Momonita and Ancient Tales look good with the furniture. Either one could work with my stuff too so I guess it depends on style of doll I would like the best. It will be tough decision.

    39. @AnnieStar
You are very welcome! I had fun putting them together. I definitely need to do more photo shoots with them.

I even managed to find the past photo shoot of my ancient tales using the bench outside. :D

    40. @mjtomich Oh, that's a lovely photo! I really like how it looks so real and bench is in perfect size for her. :love

    41. @mjtomich Oh she's lovely. I just finished painting mine, and I'll take some pictures on sunday.

    42. @AnnieStar and @ResinRapture
Thank you! I took that photo right after putting a faceup on her.
The small head size is definitely challenging and it needs some touch ups but I like how natural these dolls look. They don't need a lot of makeup to look good. ;D

    43. I hope neither of you mind me quoting you, but I was wondering if either of you know any more about Compassion Doll's current orders? I would absolutely LOVE to get an Elvis, and probably a Cheng too if he's available, and jesus the non-SP version of Boyd is gorgeous but I can't find him in stock anywhere. :pout:

They're not too badly priced at around $200 per doll although the import fees are gonna make it a little less reasonable, but still these dolls are some of the most gorgeous 1/6 scale mature male dolls I've seen in...ever. They may even beat out Soom's Faery Legend as far as I'm concerned. What stunning dolls.

    44. @TollTheBell
Those dolls are amazing! I would also love to learn more about how to get these. I love that they are double jointed!!

    45. I've become very reluctant to order with Compassion Doll considering how hard it has been to communicate with the seller even though we contacted them directly. The dolls are lovely but there are just too many open questions...

    46. A new discussion thread: Part 2 !

      :)
