    5. Melodie's new pictures are wonderful! It's been too long since I visited the Maskcat site!

What a beautiful picture! I love the dress!

    6. Thank you so much.....and that is a Volks Anais II dress. It fits this Maskcat body as if it was made for it.

    9. Awww....thank you so much. I really do like this look for her.

      So nosey me
Has anyone here bought the new Maskcat doll Melodie yet?

    10. May I ask where you got her dress? Or did you make it? It's so pretty!

    11. Melodie is not a new doll. She does have a new wig and dress! I have lovely Melodie but I don't have any pictures to share,

    12. Sorry I should have set new full set Melodie *silly me*
I would love to see your Melodie one day if you can get photos of her....pretty please

    13. I have 2 maskcat heads. They are both very nice. No body as yet.

    14. Ooh which heads do you have and have the heads got face-ups?
I started with just the head of my Maskcat doll, and had to save up for the body separately too.
Even though head and body were made a different times the resin match is spot on. I had the head on an old CH body to begin with but it never looked right..........getting the Maskcat body was so worth it.

      Awww....thank you very much!

    15. Thanks so much Moria_ash, wow your Margo is absolutely stunning.

Thanks so much Antimonia. Ah, Ronia is so beautiful... it took me ages to decided which Maskcat girl I wanted.

    16. Your Nerine is so beautiful, Jane! Love her red hair.
I just recieved a Margo head...she will have to share a body with my Ronia for the time being, but I can't wait to give her a faceup. I love all the Maskcat sculpts so much!

    17. Awww......thank you so much. My Nerine swaps between this red wig, another slightly less red wig and brown one.......and all suit her perfectly!
And huge congratulations on getting your Margo head home *yippee* I can't wait to see what face-up you give to her.

      And will you believe this????
I have only just this last week ordered a Margo head myself.........and she will have to body share too! I ordered my Margo with a company face-up.

      I am so excited.:dance

    18. I started kicking around the idea of getting a shorter girl to hang out with my Junior Delf/Anna-Queen hybrid boy (my other girl doll plan is a HID so she would be pretty big compared to him) and Maskcatdoll's sculpts interest me. I think I like Nerine the most at the moment.

    19. Hi Jane and all -
I just ordered the Melodie fullest - I fell in love. Seeing your Nerine I knew she would work with my dollstown girls.

    20. Good luck with your choices. I like Nerine an awful lot too, well I would.....wouldn't I! :3nodding:
Here is Karenza (my Nerine) wearing an outfit by Zozo this time.

[IMG]The Book Club by Jane, on Flickr

I haven't successfully dressed Karenza as a modern girl yet.....perhaps that should be my next challenge!

Oh brilliant! Huge congratulations. Maskcat are lovely to work with too.....aren't they.
And I am thrilled with how well my Nerine works with the DT7 girls, in fact I have her sitting with them all the time they look that good together.
I can't wait to see your full set Nerine when she arrives, her outfit will work so well with your little girls.

Is the full set already in stock? Or have you got long to wait?

    21. Your Nerine is always so beautiful! And the setting is convincing! Especially those books...did you make them yourself?

BTW, I think Maskcatdoll doesn't include outfits in full set (except the limited Twins full set), because they don't have enough staffs to make clothes. I feel sad because I want the little green dress Margo is wearing in the official pictures so badly..I just couldn't find any other dress as elegant as it is.

    22. Awwww....thank you so much! I love taking photos of her.
But it is all trickery........those bookshelves in the background are some of my bookshelves. I just took the photo in a way to make them seem doll size. She was just under 2 meters away from them high up on a small table that was standing on my coffee table (weird set-up I know)
And then with careful cropping you can make the shelves look doll size.

And this Melodie full set has the option to come with the wig and eyes and the outfit including the shoes....according to the drop down menu on the Etsy listing.
      Fantastic!
I wish they would sell more outfits separately too though, as I love all they make.

    23. @Jane Oooh that is some clever photo work!

And your Nerine is adorable. <3

    24. Thank you so much! That is so kind of you to say so and I really appreciate it.

    25. Eeee I just ordered my Ronia!! I ordered her blank so I'm hoping she'll arrive soon. I'm excited to give SD dolls another try!

      • x 1
    26. How exciting!!! I am so pleased for you......what colour did you order her in?

    27. @Jane Tan!! My first tan doll :D

    28. Fabulous! She looks wonderful in tan in the promo photos.
How long did they tell you that you had to wait? They told me 40-50 days for a painted Margo head, I wondered if it might be less for you as you ordered her blank.

    29. I didn't ask, but on the website it says around 30 days for blank and 45 for faceup.

    30. Even if it is trick photography it works very well! She's gorgeous and what a great setting! It always makes me happy to see dolls with books ^-^

    31. Hello, glad to see so more and more Maskcatdoll girls here!

I would like to know is there anyone who have a hybrid of Maskcatdoll girl head with a body from other companies?
I own 3 heads (Margo, Lisette and Evelyn) now but only 1 body (belongs to Margo) because I have no space and money for 2 more plus I am not very satisfied with its poseability. I was too naive to assume that Lisette and Evelyn can share the bodies with my Volks SD boy and SDGr girl.
Yesterday I tried to put the head on a SD body but desperately found that the knot of the string just couldn't pass through the small hole of the head :doh. I didn't noticed that the knot of the Maskcatdoll is placed inside the torso, not on the top of the neck....Since the body belongs to another doll, I don't want to change anything.

Anyone could give me suggestion on a not-so-expensive with OK-poseability body for my girls. please?

    32. Thank you again. And I love to see dolls with books very much too.....in fact I often photograph them with books.

I can't help here as I really like this body.
Can I ask what companies you are comparing this body with?

I have to say that I have been really happily surprised at how nicely this body poses, and it is a champion stander even in high-heel shoes. I held out for a long time before getting one as I hadn't heard much about it and it is expensive. I tried (not successfully) to hybrid with an old CH style body. That was just awful as it gave the doll a terrible swan neck with no head pose-ability at all! And anyway the older CH body is a terrible body to pose in itself!

I am delighted that I bought the Maskcat body and much prefer it over any Volks SD13 body I have had over the years. I tend to glue suede and wire dolls on entry the house but I haven't had to this with the Maskcat body.......yet!
Funny how we all bring different experiences to the hobby

I am really sorry that you found you couldn't get the Maskcat head to connect with the Volks bodies you already have at home *sigh*

    33. @Moria_ash,

Yesterday I tried to put the head on a SD body but desperately found that the knot of the string just couldn't pass through the small hole of the head :doh. I didn't noticed that the knot of the Maskcatdoll is placed inside the torso, not on the top of the neck....Since the body belongs to another doll, I don't want to change anything
      .
Most dolls have plenty of room in the torso for the knot. Re-positioning the knot in the body should not effect it's use with the original head. If that is the only problem, I would go ahead and restring the body.

    34. My experience is just the opposite XDD Maybe it's just me...good to hear you got your ideal body!
I am comparing the maskcatdoll body with Volks SD boy body because I only have boys before Margo came and SD boy body is the closest body I got to a girl body (both are about 58 cm high). The biggest problem is that my girl's upper torso often flips backwards because there is no stopper on her lower torso, especially when she sits she falls backwards hitting the back of her head quite often, which is, I have to admit, quite annoying.
She doesn't flip backwards so often like she did as she first arrived because I loosened her string a little bit and re-stringed her, but she still can't sit up straight very well.
For the second thing I am not really satisfied with is that her ankle tend to twist like this:

I found it is not easy to have she stand solidly, unlike my SD boy who stands perfectly without a stand. But compared with the first problem, not being able to stand firmly doesn't trouble me much because I can always give her a stand.

I really really like the sculpt of the girls and even their bodies are beautiful. But the poseability (or I should say engineering??) makes me hesitate to get a full set. Maskatdoll recently improved their doll hands by making them easier to change (I've just ordered two pairs of the new hands XD). So I think they are improving and hope they will do something with the torso and the ankles.

Thank you for your advice! I'm still a beginner so I wasn't brave enough to do any change XD I thought of getting a Guu body for my girls but not sure if it fits. I think I will try restring the body I got now first.
BTW, here are some quick shots of my Lisette and Evelyn. They are using Margo's body right now XDD

    36. @Moria_ash They are stunning! Evelyn looks like she was made for that wine red wig :3nodding:

    37. @Moria_ash I will start with........ I LOVE those photos of your girls! Wow! They have such perfect face-ups, I keep stopping typing to go back and look at them! :D

      Well I never!
No wonder you are not happy with the body! I wouldn't be happy either if mine was like that too!
Mine doesn't sound as if it is the same body at all...............except for that ankle twist! Mine does that too but I had forgotten.
But I was so touched to see the ankle twist like that, as that is exactly what happens with the old, old Custom House dolls that I have from way back when I first started collecting BJD's in 2004.
So I when saw that twist in the Maskcat body too I got a whole burst of love from it.........as it reminded of those wonderful CH old days.

But if it is your first experience of it, then I can quite understand how irritating it would be.:horror:

And my doll does not flip at the torso at all.
In fact she is very well engineered there, with a two point pull into either a sit up straight or lovely slouch forward movement. And she holds those positions until I next decide to move her.

I wonder if I have a version of the newer body and you have the older one?
      I bought mine last autumn.

I am thinking of getting the new hands and am looking forward to seeing those in owner photos. I am comparing my Maskcat doll with my Dollstown dolls. And in my opinion DT dolls have the most beautifully sculpted hands of all dolls.
But then I am biased ;)

    38. I get that this is probably a 'no way that would work' but i was browsing images today and realized that a couple of the Maskcat doll heads would work really well aesthetics-wise as my DT Soi's sister. Similar enough without being too much the same, and the right kind of sweet, thoughtful expression. But my Soi is on an 18 girl body (69cm, a giantess, which is why i'd decided against Maskcat girls initially) and the plan was to have Sophie be on the DT 17 girl body. Does anyone have both a Maskcat girl and a DT17? Could you please confirm for me that this is impossible? I keep thinking 'but maybe.....' and I really shouldn't XD
