I am posting this again but I am afraid I may be at the bottom of the page again and no one will see my question:
Here goes anyway...
I am thinking about ordering a doll in the glow normal. Does anyone on here have a normal resin and glow normal resin doll so I can compare the two resins? Would a normal resin IH head still work with the glow normal? Thanks for any help you can give.

Someone put a post up (not too long ago) of old PG resin, new PG resin and PG glow. If you go back 10 or so pages I'm sure you'll find it


In other news, my gal is at the 'inward office' in JFK - Woo Hoo!!!

 

Just a guess, but if the body were glow and the head normal, it might work better than the other way around. The MSC used for the face-up, even matte, sort of gives a bit of a different look to the resin. Sorry, I can not give an answer from experience, hopefully someone who has both resins will be able to help with a more definite answer.

Yay! Looking forward to seeing her and hearing what you think. Will you be able to give her a face-up next week?

 

I should be able to - I do all faceups for myself under crappy conditions - bad lighting, rushed sealing, bad weather LOL I'm too impatient when it comes to my own dolls!

Thank you for the information. I did go back about 15 pages but only found comparison of the realskin. But enjoyed lots of great photos that I had missed and it is encouraging to know that IH normal is not yellowing as it has on some of my 2011 dolls. I certainly will save some money by going with the normal and may do that.

How does everyone feel about the new slimmer SIDW body? Is Iplehouse going in that direction of a more slender body style instead of the healthy body style? For some reason the hands and feet look bigger with the newer body.

 

I wish that body had been available when Bliss was released. Mine has a Granado Nuevo body now, but the new SID one would have worked just as well.
I'd probably get Vanessa on that body to share/swap with Bliss, but my xmas $$$ are going towards a Model SIDM

 

Thanks for your input Jany, I wish they would have made this body when I got my Zera, it is a lovely body, but can they share clothes with the older style body?

 

So far, my only BJD is an Iplehouse JID Leona and one of the things I like best about her is how heavy she feels when I pick her up; she's fragile in that she's resin but not fragile because she's so stick thin which I noticed a lot of vinyl dolls were becoming and which annoyed me greatly so I'm glad I discovered BJD's.

That said, I love the Vanessa sculpt and if I ever get her I would want her on the regular body style because I don't like the super slim look. I like a doll with some substance about her. LOL

And you're right - the hands and feet look out of proportion too on the slimmer body.

 

I like how the regular SID body looks better than the new one. I don't mind the smaller thighs, but not so sure about the skinny legs and really tiny ankles. The only way I would choose the new slimmer body over the regular one is if the new one fits into SD size clothing. I WISH Iple would make an regular SD size doll. That's one thing I miss about my old YID, is that I could shop for her anywhere and find stuff to buy for her.

 

Thank you Nancy-TN, I do wonder if Iplehouse took notice of the scale of the hands and feet for the newer slim bodies, even for the SIDM body the newer one makes the hands and feet for the guys look bigger.

 

Giodrakes- You are so right, I like how the company is doing these new face's, but this slim like design is a little off to me for some reason. Hope it is not my old eyes playing tricks on me, but I do like Vanessa and how she looks so far, my Zera would not be happy for another female coming in if she were prettier and slimmer.

 

Oooh... @derilan85, I love the Vanessa, but not sure if it's the face I like, or the faceup they gave her. It's beautiful and very realistic I think. And yes the new body looks a bit off to me as well.

SHE'S HERE!!! And she doesn't feel too big to me at all YAY!!! (I hope that doesn't change) Forgive the blank face but here she is wearing a JID shirt, a stretchy MNF skirt (not her style), a 7-8 wig I'd bought a l.o.n.g. time ago (not realizing it was too big for another doll) and a pair of SD boots I'd gotten for my Luts way back when. They JUST fit her - if they were any smaller, they'd be too tight. The eyes are from her MNF incarnation and I think the 12mm suit her (though I may try 10mm for fun). Anyhoo - here's my girl NOT nekkid, bald or blind LOL

I definitely vote to keep that awesome red wig! Unless it just doesn't fit the character And everything looks awesome on her even if it's not her style I can't wait until you give her a faceup! She is so darn pretty blank, I don't see how you can go wrong

 

Congrats! She looks great. I like the 10mm and 12mm eyes, just depends on the sculpt.

I do like the wig but it won't be staying. I have alpaca on order for her. She is supposed to be dark auburn - so I don't totally mind the ginger right now

@derilan85 : The only complaint I have about the new SID bodies so far is that I do feel the arms and legs didn't need to be quite that thin, especially since they made them taller too, which would have made them seem more slender anyway. The hands and feet don't look too large to me on the female body, but the feet do look odd on the male one. I love having options, however, and it doesn't seem that Iplehouse is getting rid of the old bodies, so it doesn't bother me much. Now if only they'd update the joints on the old ones...

@Ban Sidhe : Glad to hear she seems to be working out for you so far. ^_^ Congrats on your cute girl and good luck with her!

 

Gave my girl a faceup last night but had to wait for daylight to take a picture (And hope she looked the same in natural light LOL) I need to make her wig but for now I think it's safe to say this is Amy 4.0

I agree with you @IngieBee. She does have confidence and attitude...strong personality.

 

HA HA HA - you didn't mess things up. You pretty much got her She is the MFC in my current story, which I WILL finish in the next 23 days!!! (sorry, needed that kick in the pants LOL) She is self assured but that's because she's had to take care of herself since she was 14. She had an abusive step dad & step brother but she's not about to let them ruin her life.

PS: All my JID boy shirts fit her - the short sleeved ones are perfect but the long sleeved ones are a little short. I'll only have to tweak my pattern a bit

Yeah the male version seems okay until I saw the feet, I showed this newer body to hubby and he loves the original as well. Glad that they are keeping the old one around, variety is a nice option.

 

I'm not collecting SID but I'm glad they are keeping the older bodies too - variety 'IS a nice option' for sure!

I'm in NEPA, I assure you the snow on the tree, her hair, shirt, and ground is real. The falling snow has been enhanced

 

I forget we're days away from winter we have dry winds and fire. No rain in sight. So sad . At least it's supposed to cool down... I hope everyone who has weather stays snug as a bug in a rug as well as safe on the roads this winter! And please, more beautiful pictures!!!

Hi everyone I am considering a nYID girl body and I've looked everywhere for a current body review and can't find a thing. The only Iplehouse doll I've ever owned was a JID and the body was nice, but the knees and ankles were a bit frustrating. Can anyone here give me an honest opinion of the nYID body? Also, does anyone know if Iplehouse normal skin is anywhere in the ballpark color wise with Volks.

 

I just made the leap and got an nYID myself. I used to buy only FL but then I started getting collecting some artist cast dolls and my tastes changed.
I was scared 'cause I've tried SDs in the past and they just didn't work (I blamed it mostly on their size - too big) but that does NOT seem to be the case with the nYID. I love the body. She poses much better than the JID guys I have but she still has those stupid ankles. I'm told sueding helps but I haven't given it a go yet. That said, she stands like a charm once you get them in place. I've been sewing for her and getting her character set up so I haven't done any 'drastic' posing yet but I've seen some awesome stuff on Flickr.
Sorry I can't help with the Volks question.

all my girls are NS and my club has lots of Volks doll lovers i can check Sunday but I seem to recall if you want to hybrid ... this does not work... (unless you are ready to mod 'something' to make it work). And I still do not really know what other ppl have trouble with ... with the ankles O_o... but Iple's were my first dolls so I have no experience of other dolls myself.

Ankles are ok with hot-glue sueding. I have no problems with my EID, she can stand in her shoes even without shot-glue sueding.
The real problem with these ankles arrears with HID men because they are too heavy and can't stand well.

Fresh Iple is pinky and Volks is yellow. My Carina has yellowing due to natural aging but still the color is not similar to Volks, so, airbrushing will be required for color matching.

 

Thanks everyone!! I think I'm just going to go for it and see if I can locate a body. The neck size is good and I think I can get the resin colors to look ok once the head is painted.

 

@CindyG unfortunately, I can't help, not living in Texas nor having a YID, LOL. BUT I did want to let you know there is another company, impldoll, that makes similar bodies... well, actually similar to EID I think, so this may not be much help... but they also have 10 cm necks, they do color matching (use the paint chips at paint stores to match, then send or give them the number on the card) and they are far cheaper as they come from China rather than Korea.

I mean, they are different, but seem to be very nice for the price and I figured they're worth letting you know about them

 

Thank IngieBee!! I checked out Ipledoll and the body does look very curvy like I want, but unfortunately it's like 64cm. I just can't seem to get used to anything over 60cm.

 

edit - sorry, can't brain and misread. I don't have any Impls as ordering from China is such a pain what with the money-grabbing carrier group that has the monopoly on anything from over there.

 

They do have a curvy body called the model body. I got that for my fairyland doll heads. But as nothing has arrived yet, I can't say how well they pose or anything???
