I love all the Isabels!

 

Quickly wanted to share the progress of Isabel’s custom head cap. I’ve sanded a bit more since these pictures so it does set more flush now, especially at the top of her head.

 

These Isabels are making me second guess my choice... (must stick with the character, must stick with the character)
In other news, my order now says 'preparing to deliver' - I assume that just means they are making the doll. Every company has their own lingo before typing 'shipped' but I'd like to know if anyone here knows the order of the steps for Iple.

 

@PennyDes I'd love to see the differences between your new head cap and the old to see how the shape changed

I absolutely will post a side by side comparison . I’m waiting on Apoxie Sculpt to arrive before I can finalize the fit... this was my first ever use of super sculpty and it shows, lol. I’ll do comparisons with her bald and with wigs too.

@Ban Sidhe lol, I agree with ingiebee especially if you really like both about the same.

 

@BanSidhe I rolled over your question too fast... hum, my stuff has already been delivered, but it says "delivered" and I can't imagine they track and update beyond sending?? Or?? Sorry I don't more on that :P

 

HA HA HA - if I like my gal, I can see a second in the future but first I must try out one. SDs and I haven't gotten along in the past - I'm telling myself it's because the last two didn't work for their characters and I was too new to the hobby (didn't know how to do a faceup properly yet) I am really hoping we 'click' this time as I'd love to sew for a larger sized doll and my character is tired of being a stylized MNF!

 

@BanSidhe I forgot, why are you not interested in FIDs? Just curious I love the big girls too

 

I have an FID guy and I love the size but he does look a bit pin-headed with those super wide shoulders. I do NOT like the FID women though, at least I didn't till they came out with the new body - however, they still don't have small bust (a must) and none of the previous faces worked. I'd like to try a larger girl again though - I want a better selection of eyes and I think the bigger gals look better in photos, which is 75% of the fun for me. If the SD gal doesn't work and they eventually release a small busted FID gal, I might drop back down but I'm gonna give this size one last attempt!

 

True, you can really get the big girls to look so real, no? I think I've always leaned toward realism. But I'm not super creative. And that's what I love about this hobby, everyone can do their own thing and share it with everyone else and we can admire all the different ideas and styles! And I love that

 

Me too - I get joy out of looking at everyone else's dolls and admiring their creativity too!

 

yes. it will change next to 'shipping'... if you paid by layaway that could be fast if the did the usual start week of order thing (if it gets really busy they have been known to start dolls later in a que)

I personally prefer the larger size dolls although I do own a few smaller... one FID Mari and Raccoondoll Gene. I didn’t keep FID lawrence because of the head being proportionally too small especially compared to Mari’s head. Mari spends more time on Gene’s body since Raccoondoll has the small bust. I asked Iplehouse about adding small bust to FID but they are not considering that at this time. Anyway, I digress as this is floating into the realm of off topic... sorry . Back to the big dolls now... Here’s hoping the larger size agrees with you this time around . They really can be made to look quite real. I’m looking forward to photo spam after she arrives .

 

@Ban Sidhe I just want to warn you that the big Iple girls are not as easy to pose and move as smaller dolls, but I find that with practice, you can get them to do anything pretty much any doll can do. It's just a little harder due to their size. So, I guess I'm saying, don't get turned off too fast, give it some time, they're pretty cool At least my SID Grace is, and she is on the older body

 

Anyone know if (female) Feeple60 tops/dresses/stretch pants fit nYIDs? The 'what fits' thread is not very active. Also, has anyone found good sneakers for their ladies?

 

I wanted to share a project that I’ve just started. I love the costumes from the
Poldark series - and I’m going to dress my EID Rex as Ross Poldark. (His Demelza
will be my Edria/Dollstown17 hybrid.)

Here is a quick photo of “Ross” wearing the fall front breeches I just finished early
this evening. The breeches are suede-cloth in a dark chocolate brown. I made
his period shirt with fine Swiss batistefabric in an ivory tone. His Iplehouse wig
has been shortened and thinned. The Iplehouse boots have the top turned down
- I think I shall put a few stitches into the top to keep them this way.

Tomorrow I will start on his waistcoat. Then I have to make a pattern for a coat,
and possibly his incredible long brown overcoat later.

@Ban Sidhe Re Sneakers
The sneakers in the top half are from ACbjd, they're unisex SD size. They fit all large Iple ladies and the high top sneakers have a tiny zipper, in case you hate to fiddle with shoe laces as much as I do. The usual conversy looking ones fit SID men in 70size and the girls in SD boy size.

As far as I know SD16 tops fit nYid, but I don't know if it's true.

Is it weird of me to feel like Robbin is almost like a BJD son to me?! I don't feel like that with any of my other dolls. Not even to my very first doll who is very special to me! I would be very sad if I ever lost him...

Maybe I'm so attached to him because I put a lot of what I am into his character. He represent my Furry and Therian self. He's my precious fox boy

 

Hello!!! I was searching for Elchanan but I couldn't find much...! I'm thinking of getting one Elchanan on HID man body, but I can't decide whether I should choose light brown or special real……! I like him because he has a face like a ancient deity, so I thought maybe I should go for a more extreme shade...?

Hello all! I need some help from people who have the old YID girls.

I have a Freezia which I purchased second hand, sanded to remove some yellowing and restrung. Dumb me didn't even think to pay attention when unstringing because I've restrung my volks and ringdoll ladies before. Big mistake there.

My girl is able to stand in her high heel and regular feet (with coaxing), but she cannot sit up! She's super floppy when you pick her up as well despite my best attempts. I've seen the other old YID girls kinda lean back rather than sit with good posture, but she leans and then falls flat.

I have her strung with new Volks SD elastic but when she came to me she was strung with a thinner cord.

Basically, I wanted to know if the "I must lay down" thing is normal for these girls if they aren't sueded and wired.

Also, does anyone have a nice picture or video tutorial on restringing the old body for me to check out? I get the feeling I'm doing her stringing wrong.

 

do you have the little pieces between her core and her thigh?

 

If you mean the mobility joint then no. This is what the thigh looks like:



The interior stringing is similar to this. The arms are strung on their own line and I have separate loops for each leg coming through the torso and off the neck.

Mine is a 2012 model. I had iplehouse verify the certificate of auth before I bought her so I know she's legit.

Hey @Crimsoncat, I used to have the old YID girl body. Maybe I can help.
I apologize cause I've been an insomniac lately and just woke up from a nap but a friend told me about your post here.

In the picture I see the thigh joint is facing to the front, that's the first question I have.
Next question is, in the picture of the elastic inside the thigh, is that a single string or is that string doubled?
You have to make one long loop with the elastic, then fold it in half, hook that to the head hook, feed both sides through the neck hole, through the body, and one down each leg. After that then you have to tighten and wiggle the one with the knot till she can hold her pose. Thicker elastic is better for posing, but it has to have some tension, otherwise she'll fall.

I LOVE the old YID. If Iple still made them I would have one still.

Just wanted to share the mods that my former old YID went through, just in case it helps anyone that still has an old body. Unfortunately the modder that did mine disappeared without a trace over 5 years ago and we haven't been able to find her/contact her

 

What do you guys think the likelihood of Louis having another release is? I sold mine when I left the hobby (9ish years ago) and, man, do I miss that derpy dude.

 

Hah, man, I wish, but I don't think they will. Anything from the pre-YID days is probably gone forever. They did that one free-choice event in 2009 and then I think they washed their hands of them entirely.

My own Louis is a patchy neon-yellow mess - that old Iplehouse resin was just awful - but I know he's one of the last of a dying breed, so I will cling to him forever.

 

Ugh. @Gallye. I love you I had to move on, and that meant selling both my old YID to get a new doll. I ended up getting an SID with small bust because they are tall and slimmer. I still wish Iplehouse made at least one 'regular size' SD doll. But whatever. I now they won't. But a girl can dream :P

 

Yes, it does fit quite well. Here is my EID Victor's head on my Dollshe Grant's body. The resin match between Dollshe Copper Oriental and Iple Real Skin is very good also.

Yikes, I had no idea that that resin had aged so poorly. I have this /really/ silly fantasy of someday tracking down whoever currently has him and buying him back, but the likelihood of that happening and the likelihood of him not having been changed since then is like... beyond minuscule. I don't even have any decent photos of him anymore beyond the preview shots I got from his faceup artist (who I'm pretty sure isn't working anymore, man times have changed). :')

 

The thing I always noticed about the super-old Iplehouse resin is that the pink tones would just fall out over the first few months, leaving behind a doll that was anywhere from off-white to dull beige to lemon yellow. The dolls would look good when they arrived and then poof! no more pink!

They've gotten so, so much better about that in the intervening years, fortunately, but my Lion is beige and my Louis is patchy yellow and there's no replacing either of them any more.

 

You could try the de-yellowing thread where some people have come up with apparently good formulas for dying the resin to get the color back into it again? It's in the workshop somewhere

 

I've been strongly considering that, actually! I just have to get over my instinctive AAAGH WHAT IF I MESS THEM UP FOR GOOD reaction.

Oh no ... she looks like a younger version of Stella. I might be in trouble.

 

I love her!!! Seriously, I'm loving a LOT of the newer sculpts. They look more realistic that a lot of the older ones (at least to me - smaller eyes etc.), which is probably why they all appeal to me now.
I adore her slightly parted mouth and the shape of her eyes.

In other news - I ordered my Isis 11-21 and she has shipped already!!! She is in Alaska and will be at JFK on the 3rd. I wasn't expecting her for MONTHS, esp. with the Holiday rush and discount just offered!!!

 

Wow she is a pretty girl. I immediately thought her eyes were happy

 

Not sure if anyone saw my question about Feeples... does anyone know if F60 clothing fits nYIDs or if F65 shoes fit?

Ha Ha - sometimes things get lost in the shuffle and I'm starting to panic 'cause I have NOTHING for my girl. Never expected her so soon.

Also - nYID feet at listed as 7.5cm a boot with an 8.5cm inner length wouldn't look too big would it? I whole cm would be noticeable on a smaller doll but I'm hoping not-so-much for an SD?

 

Although it kind of depends on the style, I wouldn't think it would be too noticeable?

 

Wow that is quick! Did you order her blank? I have ordered them a time or two blank and they are ready so much quicker.
I have a head I am going to start practicing face-ups on. But I am not optimistic at my artistic talent.

I got more pictures and some great news!

I decided to restring the doll one more time (attempt 12 by my husbands count). While doing so I took pictures so you guys could see what I was doing wrong... and then this happened:




I think I just needed her tighter.Thanks for your help all the same! It gave me a couple of things to check and try before I just gave up again. I put the bright pink line in so everyone could see how bad the old iplehouse YID were at sitting up. It's pretty pathetic how much they lean back even when strung "correctly".

In case anyone else ever gets stuck again I documented what I did here.

 

@Ban Sidhe Wow! That is fast. Did you get a face up or blank?

I love Vanessa! How much bigger is SID than nYID. I told myself no more big dolls. I would love to see her face on FID.

I don’t have Feeble to compare.

Yes, I did. Honestly, I've never had a long wait with Iple (I get them all blank) but I was still surprised. I figured they'd be swamped right now.

Yes. IKR? Vanessa is so pretty. I've seen a lot of SID heads on nYID bodies in the past month, trying to decide which sculpt to get. Many of them look good. Guess we'll have to see if Vanessa is one of them 'cause nYID is pushing my comfort zone too. :P

 

@Ban Sidhe I have Isabel on nYID and happy with her. Just not sure I want to go big anymore. I have Nancy and Isabel.

 

I'm pretty sure Vanessa would work on the nYID body. That girl is trouble - I love Isabel, but I'm seriously considering Vanessa. o.O She looks like Stella and Bliss had a love child ... with a bit of Eva thrown in the mix. All my favourites. But I was going to get Vincent on the new SID boy body.
I can justify one doll per new body ... but that would push Isabel off the list. They need to start offering heads, for realsies. Seriously running out of space for these big kids.

 

@Crimsoncat, That is awesome!!! I'm glad you got her to sit and stand now! Definitely look into some mods if you can, at least bringing up the thigh socket and lengthening the elastic channels, as well as making a better "step" on the back. Just those alone will make a huge difference. I love the sueding, too, cause with it, they can point their toes and it looks adorable

 

Vanessa is lovely, and extremely tempting. Damn it, Iplehouse, you already released two dolls recently I want and am putting off...
I'm pretty sure any sculpt that looks good on the more slender new SIDW body will look okay on the nYID too. ^_^


@Ban Sidhe : If our waiting room list is any indication, IH's sales have been pretty low the last couple months. Congrats in any case! And a whole cm on the interior of a boot is definitely going to be loose, in my experience, but depending on the design it may not look obviously so?

@Crimsoncat : That's great! Never owned the old girl body, but I do have one boy oYID, so I know how it goes. Good luck with her!

Vanessa looks like a blend of Emilia and Stella to me. Interesting mix, and a young face- probably looks even better on the nYid body.

 

Vanessa is super beautiful. Vanessa's Iplehouse make-up reminded me of make-up B on Rachel! I wonder if it is a variant on that make-up (just with darker eyebrows and eyeshadow)? Anyhow, she is super sweet! It'll be fun to see owner pics of her.
