[Adopted] Dollmore Lusion Discussion - Part IV!

Jun 4, 2012

1. Yes, that is exactly what I meant: I don't blame Dollmore or think they're lame for saying no and I don't even wonder why they won't change the outfits.. Still, I think you can always ask if you have something in your mind, they seem to be happy to answer questions and even if the answer was no it still makes me want to buy from them when I notice that their customer service is working great ! :)
But yet again, I think the pink outfit for her will work really well and be super cute, so please post some pictures when she finally arrives ! ^_^

2. Very pretty , love the ears of that sculpt ....I am not ready for such a big doll yet , but if I ever decide to upsize - dollmore will be it for me . Great looking dolls :)

3. RussianDoll, they come along when you least expect it. One day, you have none and the next, you're looking at seven little faces looking back at you. That's what it felt like, I think....but I imagine it took longer. I love Dollmore's dolls and have more of them than any.

4. LOL . I know the feeling ... it is how I am with Minifees...lol

5. I like the new Lusions. It almost swayed my next Dollmore purchase. I think I'll stick with the Somna .... sleepy one. I think I'd rather have a different expression from my normal Dahlia and her outfit fits in better with my Lumie I think.

6. Yeah-except the Fees take up less room! I can't even put the Lusions across the bed anymore. Stuck at five-we have an antique double bed-and they'd need a queen-size, at least.

whitewolf, the sleepy one has their dreaming eyes, which I love. Gives them a whole new look. Go for her-you won't be sorry.

7. Hahahaha jenthered, that sounds just both awesome and horrific, mostly awesome. Where do you usually keep your Lusions ? Has anyone had problems with for example overcurious cats (like our sphynx Ruttu..) or dogs that run over the girls ? I could imagine that some kind of glass cabinet would be kinda great, but it should be quite massive for more than one Lusion girl..

8. They are all either standing up or sitting down on chairs...their own sized chairs, not ours....with the rest of my BJDs, all of whom are on bleachers in a corner of the room. No way would they fit into a cabinet!

Well, they have some nice old chairs, plus stands and when they're in a display, then the standing ones get to sit down. Which is so nice for them. They take up, as a group, quite a bit of room, so when I get the new, er, off topic bigger girl, she's coming to the studio to live, as I don't think I have room for her to live her yet.
I do think I'm finished with Lusions, but your Oakley keeps tempting me....I mean, one of them, you know.
My cats and dogs do not bother the dolls. They have been brought up with them.

9. My girl is currently in my living room sitting in a corner chair, I have a doll room that she was sitting in a chair in their but I've been trying to reorganize stuff and the desk chair is cover with stuff..lol. I can't even imagine so many lusions in a room...that would be so cool! I'll be definitely getting a Trinity, but not certain if another Lusion is in the future or not...because the elf Dahlia is still staring at me everytime I go on their site..lol. At the moment I have only 1 dog and she doesn't really go into my doll room...though someday I know I'll be getting a another pup and will probably have to start shutting the room. I can't even imagine a cat...eek...they would be all over my bookcase knocking off my smaller dolls.

10. Can I ask you, jenthered, where have you got the chairs ? I have seen lots of them around, for example quite many can be found in Ikea which is in our neighbour, but I'm interested to hear where others have got them :)
Yes, for the amount of your BJD's any kind of cabinet wouldn't be enough :D

Kitty Blue, the elf Dahlia is clearly calling for you.. ;) No but seriously, a doll room would be a great solution, because for now that we only have quite small (well, smaller than Lusion) dolls, they're still sitting on the bookcase when there's still enough room for them, but sometimes our kitties worry us because the hairless one is way too curious about every single thing and also is quite stubborn, and the hairy one just loooves the chew everything, and they're both quite ninjas... Fortunately they listen to orders really well, but hey, they have their kitty-moments so it's better to be safe than sorry, I guess.

11. I got two chairs, semi-antique, at a Theriault's auction in person, one from my sister, many years ago, two from my UFDC doll clubs with sales tables. Never gone to Ikea for them. I have too many! I got an amazing chair, early 1700's, from Theriault's a long time ago, which one of my antique dolls loves to share with my Nostalgic Lusion. Doll shows are also a great place to find them. A lot of dealers have them and sometimes will sell them at the end of the show.

12. I found a pair of vintage/antique toddler-size folding chairs on e-bay last year (perfect if taking a Lusion to a doll meet (she fits in my medium-sized wheelie-suitcase with space for paddign and lots of smaller BJD's, as wella s the chair... lifting it on and off trains and managign the stairs at he stations is the awkward part).

The children's chairs in IKEA are nice -and you can stain and paint them whatever colour you want (and hey also do a little table to go with them, if you have space.

A coupel of weeks ago at a reenactors market, I happened across a Lusin-size reproduction of a viking chair (made in error as the person translating te detials didnt' know how to convert properly between metric andimperial measurements) which I couldn't resist buying for my Daisy Bacon - but now I need to make her a Viking outfit as well as finishing the Victorian ones I already have in the pipeline.

Teddy

13. I had to laugh, Teddy...when I think of reenactors (i live in one of the prime states for it in the US) I think of our Civil War...so much later than what you're talking about. But a Viking costume for a Lusion would be Ab Fab, as they are so large and imposing. Rather like the Ring Cycle, you know. Need a Lusion sized horse, too!
Thanks for the tip about ikea. I used to go there all the time, but not now. Pretty much everyone can be seated who wants to be, although I am holding out for a Lusion loveseat. I think it would be so cute for them.

14. Just wanted to pop in and say Happy Holidays to everyone! A few days late..lol. But I just finished a photostory with my girl Oakley if anyone would care to take a peek. Twas the Night Before...

15. my little girl just got paid off and she is due in soon. I cant wait to get here. I am tring to shop for clothing for her but I am not sure toddler or something larger would be needed.

16. Newborn tops and dresses fit nice...thought the sleeves will not be quite long enough. If you want to go for a looser/baggy fit I would think some toddler stuff may fit? The christmas dress I posted a few up was a 4T that I had to alter considerably since they are much much thinner than an actual child. Good luck hope she arrives quickly and look forward to seeing her. :) Oakley is wearing a newborn sized dress in this photo which made a great top. The leggings I made. hmmm photo is a little washed out I'll have to upddate it if I can find a different one.

17. Newborn sizes fit best through the shoulders, but will be shorter. It depends a lot on the style and the fit you like.

18. what size shoe should I look to buy say from a normal store like wal mart. Might sound silly but I wanted to get her a Disney Elsa dress to put on from the toy department.

19. Yay!

QUOTE=EcchoKat;10523824]I cant wait to get here. I am tring to shop for clothing for her but I am not sure toddler or something larger would be needed.
0-3 month size fits in width but is short on the Lusion body - dresses make good tops, if you go for short sleeve styles (long sleeve styles are more like three-quarter sleeves on a Lusion). Long baby dresses make for short Lusion dresses.

Toddler size five (UK sizes) works on my girl - go up a size for slip on boots, sometimes you can go down a size for open sandals.

You'd probably need to get whatever size is right for the length, then take it in (a lot) to fit her in the body.

Teddy

20. shoe styles vary I have 2 that I bought from Walmart one is a size 4 and one is a size 5 (both very similar close toed styles) so your best bet if you don't want to wait for your girl to come is take a measuring tape with you and measure the inside both length and width. I've bought some other 5's from a different company online and they were huge...but I'm particular about my shoes and don't like oversized ones. My Oakley is gathering quite an erray of shoes..lol. The boots that she is wearing in the last photo I posted here were a size 5/6 they are a tad big but not too bad like the other shoes I bought from online, not sure where they were from since the were at a local thrift shop.

21. I love her size! She must be a pleasure to shop for, or sew for

22. Annabelle Lee is here
[IMG]

23. Congratulations on Annabelle's safe arrival. She's lovely and so well-dressed and already has made friends. What a beauty!

24. Yaaaay!

And it loks like she's settled in and made herself at home

Teddy

25. Drive by spam before I head off to bed. Finished another set of pjs for Oakley and she couldn't wait to curl up on the couch and fall asleep.

26. I know how she feels. Beautiful, Kitty!

27. Awwwww.... Bless!

I have Daisy Bacon's right hand at work with me today - a bit macarbre, but I needed to measurte it for some gloves and didn't have time before leving the house for work, so just unhooked the hand and grabbed the tape-measure to bring with me.

Seeing her left sat there with the stump got me thinking, Ishould rig up a hook and a Pirate costume for her at some point.

Teddy

28. So scary, Kitty but you do need to do that in order to plan. I took a Lusion foot with me when I first went shoe shopping. I was at Target, I think, and a saleslady walked by just as I fished the foot out of my purse-and did she ever scream! We were both shocked, but when I said that it was a doll, she started talking with me, long story short, signed up for my local doll club and always wants me to bring Matilda, nostalgic, when I come to club. She puts shoes aside for her now!

29. [IMG]
this was the complete outfit. :)

eek hand..lol..yea I was going to do the foot thing but now that I've bought a few shoes I've got the hang of just looking at them to know if they might fit.

30. {laugh!} The tngs we do to get them properly outfitted!
ADORABLE!!!!!

I wired Daisy Bacon last night - the biggest guage of armature wire I coudl get though her elbows and knees without modding the holes was 3.5 - whihc works fine for the arms but does't do a thing for her body and legs... Ah well, worth a try.

I changed her outfit while I had her stripped off for wiring (shes been in the Secert Garden dress for ages because I like it so much):
The dress (it has beautiful smocking but that's hidden under the pinafore) is from Boneka. The pinafore and matching bonnet are baby clothes from a high-end shop that was closing down near where I work, and the shoes are e-bay bargain toddler shoes.

Teddy

31. Oh I forgot!

Daisy also got a haircut. I love her long wig, but it tangles easily so I wanted a shorter option too (not the same shade, unfortunately - it looked it in the picture online, but I think the darker colour suits her):

32. Hi Teddy, I used hot glue sueding on Pearl's leg joints and she is now a solid stander! This is her posing with no other support.

I may have to try the wire in her arms. Did you have to disassemble Daisy to put it in?

33. I must get around to hot glue sueding several of my dolls - thanks!

I didn't need to disassemble Daisy, just pull the joints appart and poke the wire through beside the elastic. I don't think it would be easy to get the elastic back through th elbows or knees once the wire is in - it's very tight.

Love Pearl's outfit, by the way. Lovley and snuggly for winter weather.

Teddy

34. Thats good, I'm not sure I could face taking her apart again. :sweat
Please can you tell me where you got the wire from? And that cute wig?! You are so brave to give it a haircut.

35. I know what you mean!

E-bay - aluminium armatire wire. I have some left-over and it's too big for my other dolls, would you like me to send it to you?
It's enough to do a set of Lusion arms and then some (although I wouldn't bother doing the legs or body as that's had little effect on Daisy).

It's a monique wig (https://secure.wavi.com/monique/cgi-bin/shopper?key=MT439&preadd=action )

Lesley of Ellie's Doll Workshop (http://www.elliesdolls.co.uk/) in Bournemouth included a few wigs for me in their January order from Monique. I didn't actually cut it. I was looking for a shorter version of her long wig so I wouldn't have to get hold of a second long wig and trim, it myself. I don't know if thye have any more isn stock, but it's worth asking - or they could always order you one next time they place an order with Monique.

Teddy

36. OOoo, yes please! That's so nice of you. I'll PM you.

I went to Ellie's Doll Workshop last year, it's like an Aladdin's Cave! Boxes of wigs and shoes, books and furniture! Made me want to play :)

37. Oh, I can just imagine.

It's a bit too much of a trek for me to make easily by public transport, so I've only dealt with them over the 'phone or by email - but they're very friendly and helpful, and Lesley is just getting into BJDs. And it;s useful to find a Monique wig dealer in the UK, even if you have to look around online for the style and co,.our you're interested in and then email to ask if they have it in the right colour/size/style.

I was lucky that, although they had none of the ones I wanted, they were just about to place an order with Monique so included my ones in that (this one for Daisy and several others for smaller BJD). Much better than trying to deal with Monique direct (Monique are so slow and uncommunicative, in my experience, it's like e-mailing a black-hole and just hoping your message has been received and is actually being dealt with).

Teddy

38. I'll have to check out the armature wire, I did hot glue sued Oakley and it was a vast improvement..

love the new cut very cute.

39. I very much like Lusion Dol!
Probably, they длжны only to sit, because the very heavy?

40. If you have a strong enough doll-stand they can be posed standing and some people have successfully sueded them so they stand on their own. My Daisy Bacon has the stand that Dollmore sell and stands very well with it:

Teddy

41. I watched your YouTube video for 2013 and Oakley seems really to have all her joints under control
Do you display her standing up?

42. I got my Lusion yesterday, I already posted pix of her in the facebook group so sorry if you've already seen these.
Her name's Amaris and I think she's super swell. I can't stop dressing her and holding her, she's just awesome. :D
And her purple wig came the same day that she did, how awesome is that??!!
[IMG][IMG]

43. usually she is standing in the corner where she was in one of my vids, but occasionally she is chilling out downstairs in the living room in one of the chairs...just depends on what I'm doing with her..but yep mostly she is standing.

Please don't apologize she is quite lovely I don't mind seeing her again. :) The purple tons in her faceup are just amazing. Makes me want to get another..lol

44. Oh she is beautiful tertlecrazy - you can post her as much as you want :)

45. She is gorgeous, love the purple wig! :D

46. Very cute - especially in the purple wig (which makes her skin look a pale lavendar colour on my screen)

My but doesn't she just look like a bold and sassy little Miss!

Teddy

47. Thanks Teddy :)

48. where did the purple wig come from its lovely.

49. I was really curious if they changed the sculpt, so I asked Dollmore directly about it. They said that yes, she has been heavily modified from her original sculpt. So my next question to them is... can we get this updated sculpt with regular ears? Heheh... I hope so.

Original Question to Dollmore:

Hello Customer =))

her sculpt has been changed.
Beside that, her ears, eyes and face up have been changed seriously from the orginal one.

Sincerely,
Dollmore abby =))

>My newest question is about the Dahlia Elf head sculpt. Were there changes made to the face- the shape of the eyes or lips? My reason for asking is that the elf Dahlia looks less "pouty" than the original, and I would like to know if it is the face-up which is giving that impression, or if there are actual changes made to her structure? I'm getting ready to decide which to order and with a purchase this large, I want to be well researched. Thank you for reading!!

50. Howdy folks!! Some of you may have already seen my Nell. She was my Valentine Girl this February 14th. Nell wears a Himstedt ensemble which I had to alter just a little bit.
