I definitely hope they finish off all the current orders before opening a new round! I've got a floating body waiting for its head and it's driving me nuts

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post because I'm SO excited, my DiM order came in! I'm even more in love with my Larina and Annabeth heads than I thought I'd be! I admit, I'm still a little lukewarm towards Jullis and Luria, but I'm hoping that they'll grow more on me as I'm able to work on them.

Also, the Doll Leaves boy body works BEAUTIFULLY for my Larina head. The resin match is so spot on, and the proportions and range of motions is amazing. They honestly look like they're from the same company! I'm super pleased with how my boy turned out! I gave him a super quick face up on Sunday and he's got some temporary freebie eyes in right now, I just wish he had a wig so I could share him!

Can you say more about the posing of the doll leaves body?

When I get my Flowne head in, I'll be on the hunt for the perfect body for her. I sadly missed an auction on ebay for the GSE body. Still kicking myself over that!

@PeppermintPocky heels is one of my creation, I'm happy you like! this is a minifee size, it fit very well on model delf heel feet
and the wig is from Natrume, I loooooove her work

haha yes, I create shoes and clothes mainly for minifee and feeple60 moe, and this shoes is my last prototype, I actually work on other pairs for my shop ^_^ thank you for you compliment!

 

Thanks @wherethelilacsbloom and @Lady Jabberwock ! The Doll Leaves body is a little bit less expensive than some other brands so it's not extremely detailed, but it is double jointed and this guy stood solidly right out of the box. He's nicely balanced and quite petite! I don't usually do any crazy poses with my dolls, but if there's something specific you have in mind I'd be happy to try it out

Also @Lady Jabberwock , those shoes are amazing! Your girl is already stunning and those shoes really pull the whole outfit together!

A little disappointment for me today. I purchased a wig for my Larina boy (his name is Isiah for anyone who cares ) on ebay yesterday, but received an email this morning telling me it's out of stock and won't be back for 2-3 weeks. I can either wait, choose something else or cancel my order. I looked through their shop but they don't seem to have much else that could work for him, and while I feel bad about cancelling, I also don't really want to wait that long! Hrmph

Any suggestions for a short 6-7" pink/pastel mix wig with bangs that won't make me wait another month to get to me?

and it's too bad for your wig :/ what sort you look for, fur, fiber, alpaca? do you look on etsy? it's a really fabulous place for bjd wigs

 

Woops! I forgot that part! Fiber, straight and simple I've noticed most of what I've found on etsy is fur of some sort. I've already looked on Mint on Card, Alice's Collection's, JunkySpot, Denver Dolls, Jpopdolls and Ebay (and the marketplace here on DoA). I'm afraid I might be delegated to waiting quite awhile at this rate

 

mmh you have also crobidoll, formydoll (where I mostly find my wigs) leeke (with some time limited pastel edition)....maybe luts, or dollmore (but I'm not sure if they have the color you look for)
and yes you will have lot of fur on etsy, but also great mohair creator and some alpaca too, but true if you look for fiber I think it is not the better place for you :/

 

Just popping in to look at the pretty dollies while waiting... I've had DiM Ace on my wishlist forever and couldn't resist the sale! I'm part of a rather huge group order though so it hasn't arrived yet. Which is fine, I don't even have a name or anything for him, or even know which part of the crew he belongs to. I think I'll just go through all the leftover clothes and wigs and see what he ends up wearing, and maybe that'll give me a clue who he is.
I've currently got three dolls ordered/on the way and that might be a record for me (other than that one fairyland order that had an event head in it ages ago). I know who the other two are, though, so I'm less concerned about them - and one is from when Dollshe had their big sale, so I'm not expecting him until next summer sometime probably. Ace, however... I need to figure him out.
I was tempted to get a Gayane head, I think it looks a bit like Slash from Guns N Roses and I think I could have fun with that! I resisted, however.

 

How about a Monique wig? FacetsByMarcia has some pink styles in stock. You could cut a "Faith" in pink to the desired length, or a "Jojo" (which isn't offered in pure pastel pink, but the Golden Blonde/Pink mix is sorta close). "Pinky" and "Trix" are also offered in pastel pink (the latter you'd have to cut).

WHOOOOO! Have I mentioned lately I love your taste in sculpts, @AmyAngel? Congrats on your Ace! I'm actually waiting on an Ace, too... I almost bought him instead of my Dolkot Day all those years ago, if you can believe it. (Although I'm thankful I ultimately chose Dolkot Day for the character I shelled.)

I look forward to seeing what you do with your boy! Never noticed Gayane's resemblance to Slash but now I'll have to go check that out because Guns N' Roses = legendary.

 

Thank you @PeppermintPocky! I was wondering which one you were getting, we seem to have similar taste in sculpts, I think! I've liked the sculpt for ages, but it never filtered up to the top of the wishlist until the sale made it too hard to resist. I'm still figuring out who he'll be. The airship crew is pretty full up, the archaeology-related ones are all SDs, so he may end up either the cook on the pirate ship or possibly one of the antagonists of a new branch the story has taken. I wasn't planning to shell anyone from that story, though, so I'm hoping I can fit him in elsewhere.
I think it's the company photos where Gayane is looking down that the sculpt reminds me most of Slash - give her a guitar, change the hair color to black, and put on a top hat and she looks a lot like him to me. It's the lip and nose shape, I think. If they had a dark tan I have a character or two Gayane could be, but I think they'll have to sit on the wishlist until I can afford another Iplehouse instead.

Seems I'm stubborn though and nothing really stood out to me as much as that initial wig I first found Oh well, I waited this long for Isiah to get here, I can wait a little bit longer for this.

Anyway, it seems like DiM has started sending out some full dolls, so I really hope to see some of your Ace's soon! Sometimes I still wonder if I made the right choice between him and my Jullis...I remember years ago, it may have even been when those two were first introduced, I had some major regret in not choosing him over my Angell Studio Gus. Eventually when I did get rid of my Gus, I really do think Ace had a strong hand in that. Funny how when I finally had the chance to get him I still side stepped him! But I do adore my Jullis, so I need to remember that

And I love the idea of a cook on your airship! I bet that would be a cool character to create and style. I'm still not entirely sure who my own Ace will shell, either; I bought him with the intention to shell my police chief, but I'm going to wait until he arrives before I set his plans in stone. If I'm brave, I'd like to dye him tan, as I had a lot of success with iDye Poly for another doll and am itching to repeat the process.

AHHH! You had an Angell-Studio Gus?! That sculpt has been on my radar for years.

And I feel you when it comes to choosing between Ace and Jullis. Both are beautiful, beautiful boys.

 

Oooh, dye. I haven't tried that, but it would fix the "needs to be tan" issue for a couple of my characters! Hmm. I cannot order another doll anytime soon, so no Gayane for me, but definitely I'll keep that in the back of my mind for the future. I'd love to see what your Ace turns out as if you do dye him!
I am kind of liking the cook idea for my Ace. I know the airship crew takes turns cooking (except Crow, who is banned from the kitchen due to risk of fire - Finn does take a turn but it's always sandwiches). The pirate crew, however, they have a cook on the ship, and I don't know much about him yet. This guy might work - I'll have to see what he looks like with the rest of them.

 

Audrey's Doll Mall is another place that has a lot of wigs. Most of them are natural colors, but her prices are really good, so you might check her out.

I know, right? I had a friend who had a doll business that used their high-school-aged nephew to do their web design, "to save money." Needless to say, they eventually folded. Didn't survive the market's transition from porcelain dolls to BJDs. At least Audrey keeps her inventory updated.

 

Hi, does anyone received email from DIM after 'payment received notice'? I received my doll heads but one head was damaged then I emailed them.
It's been two weeks., still not received any reply.

 

@strm I'd definitely either email them again or post on their Q&A board. They usually don't take that long to reply, so they may have missed your previous email. Out of curiosity, which head was damaged?

 

@milkyselenite I sent 2nd email one weeks ago, totally already nearly 3 weeks, damaged head is Marcellina.

 

I would try some of the patterns for the Kaye Wiggs MSD sized dolls. Just work it up in muslin first.....I'm always at the library changing the % on pattern pieces to make patterns fit better or to use for other dolls.

 

Have you posted on their Q&A? I've found Q&As much faster and more reliable than company emails (not specifically DIM, just in general). I've posted to DIM's Q&A board twice since the discontinuation event and received a reply within 2-3 days.

I'm sorry one of your heads arrived broken. I hope DIM will help you resolve the problem soon.

Thank you, @Hyperion! I can't get enough of your girl---in that wig with her lovely blue-ish skin she sorta reminds me of Mission Vao from Knights of the Old Republic (my favorite character in that game, heh).

 

Oooh, Hyperion, she's on the new Loongsoul body? Do you have any comments on how that works as a hybrid? Or pictures? I love that body.

@thessalyrose Personally I think it works really well as a hybrid, if you got the normal pink skin, it's very close in colour, with Loongsoul being just slightly darker. The arms are a bit tight, but that's just a loongsoul thing from my experience. Posing wise it's stable as a rock and it seems nice and easy to find clothes for (I've got the small bust and the large bust) Here's a picture of just the head back to give you an idea of the neck fit. (warning for doll nudity) Depending on your personal preference, I could see some people thinking the head's a bit big for the shoulders, but it's about the same proportions as my other Loongsoul girl, so it doesn't bother me at all.
If there's anything in particular you'd like to know (or any kind of posing you'd like me to give a try) just let me know

 

Quick question for Ace owners: If I were to order a 7-8" wig for my boy, do you think I should also get him a wig cap (so it won't be loose)? If so, should the wig cap be 6-7" or 7-8"?

Sorry...my experience with wig caps = very, very minimal.

 

I would think 7-8, but let me check my Ace tonight. I think the issue is not that he's an odd size, but that his head is an odd shape, so the stretchy wig cap should fit just fine.

Speaking of Ace ... I'm trying to make up my mind about who to order in the coming event. I missed out on Amelie, so she's definitely in (head only, probably) and I figured out I need a Gayane, too. But I want a boy, too. So ... do you think Gayane could make a twin brother to Annabeth? Could she work on the taller boy body? (Annabeth will go on a Dollstown Elf or similar.)

Any comparison-spam of Ace and Gayane boy(s) - preferrably on the taller body - would be very welcome

 

@Hyperion: I seem to recall you asking for some Lestia spam. I painted Miranda today, so here you go. I am super in love with this girl right now.

She's borrowing a v1 LoongSoul 58cm girl body. The proportions are pretty good, but she would definitely need her neck socket modded. The pics are deceptive - the resin match is poor because the body is a very mellowed normal pink.

My Miru and Annabeth arrived last week. Annabeth is still waiting to be dyed, but here's Miru, wearing all leftover stuff until I can figure out how I want to style her.


Also, does anyone know if Luria, Laia and Lucinda use faceplates? I thought all newer DiM kids had the faceplate system, but Annabeth has a headcap.

 

Wolfboy's DiMlings will be my downfall one day. You're right, they're adorable together! Just one mystery left, would Gayane fit on the taller boy body ... she should, right? Given that Annabeth fits the Dollstown Elf which is a lot taller than the DiM Happy, and they look to be very similar in size?

 

Does anyone know if DIM would work on a Xagadoll 1/4 body (female)? Mostly looking after resin match and proportion.

 

I've heard that the resin match is pretty good, but I'll be trying this hybrid myself and I'll be happy to let you know how it goes once both the head and body arrive. Here are some pictures of DIM + Xaga/Other hybrids.

Urgh, that's a problem with Taobao. Lately you need to login before viewing some pages. But anyway, the link has some pictures that compare the resin and proportions. Here's Flowne on the older Xagadoll body. I think they recommend the newer one for better posing, but I prefer how this one looks.

Annabeth got her dye job done! Meet Hetal
I used Rit DyeMore and Im pretty pleased with it. The color takes a lot faster than with regular Rit.
I think a couple more people were planning to dye their DiMlings, I cant wait to see them.

 

I received an email today from Denny RE: the damage on my Happy Ace's hand. Showed him photos soon after my doll's arrival but told him to take his time replying to me (since I know how busy the company is with orders). Anyway, today he offered to send me a replacement hand---didn't even have to ask. I freakin' love DIM.

So it looks like I'll be dyeing my Theo some shade of tan soon!

I saw Hetal on Tumblr this morning and my jaw dropped. She's absolutely stunning! You did a great job dyeing her!

I'm leaning towards RIT Dyemore for my Theo (Ace) instead of iDyePoly but haven't decided between the two brands yet. The "Sand Stone" RIT Dyemore color intrigues me so dang much because I haven't seen any photos of it on a doll...

I'm definitely throwing my vote for Rit Dyemore, since my experience with iDye Poly was literally spotty (I couldn't get all the dye to dissolve so it left spots on Valeria). I've actually been searching for a picture of the SandStone colour in use, and I haven't found anything. It's enough to make me want to go out and dye a spare bit of resin just to see what happens!

What an absolutely amazing hybrid. The best I've seen so far. Fortunately MoC carry them but they say they only preorder at certain times. I hope I remember to keep checking because it looks beautiful and the price is unbelievable. I agree that the older one is more beautiful, the hands are especially lovely.

If you're interested in ordering that body for a hybrid, I know Jeeryama/Doll'sSinging is a dealer for Xagadoll, too. She doesn't have them in her eBay store, but she carries the brand on her website (Clover'sSinging).
