[Adopted] Charles Creature Cabinet Firefly Faerie discussion part 1

Darkstar, Toydogz is not alone. I also ordered back in August and my Fuuga only arrived at Sweetly Twisted two weeks ago. There are others I've heard from that ordered directly from CCC and have not received their Fuuga, so its not DDEs fault. If you order one of these cuties you just have to be prepared for a l-o-n-g wait. I don't imagine we'll see Vamp Fidelia until close to summer.

 

dde told me the wait would be about 8 weeks as charles is a bit behind, but I have just been "flickering" looking at lovely pics so I could order wigs and eyes.

I peeked about on sweetly twisteds flickr then went to her site, I think anyone who ordered a faceup from her through charles is having to wait ... on the website it says she has been delayed with another project and is now on vacation til the 5th then will complete the face ups and send the outstanding orderes back to ccc so he can then box up and send on to the new fairy guardians. But ... I must say a sweetly twisted face up looks like its well worth the wait!

has anyone had a fuuga faceup by sweetly twisted I would love to see a close up!

So anyway I have ordered a blonde and a babyblue tibetan wig from blushed roses and 2 pr turquoise eyes and 1pr pale grey from captured in glass cause I couldn`t decide!!!!

 

forgot to ask ... they don`t come with eyelashes do they ?

 

Sweetly Twisted got several Fuugas from Charles about three weekends ago that she is doing faceups on. I think she's pretty much completed my Fuuga (Primrose) but I've only seen the first preview. I can tell you, a Sweetly Twisted faceup is WELL worth the wait! I can't wait for her to arrive. My Thistle Anne also has a Sweetly Twisted faceup that she came to me with.

I know one other person who ordered their Fuuga and paid for her in either August or early September, with only a default faceup, who was still waiting last I heard. I'm hoping that soon there will be a new flurry of exciting arrivals....

toydogz4, I sure hope there is NOT a romance developing between Sweet Willie and Peri! She showed up at our door with one illegitimate child in tow (who she isn't paying much attention to as it is!). Not a word about who (or what!) the father is. And Firefly babies take a notoriously long time to grow up, so we sure don't want anymore around right now. Especially if it pops out with a face like William's!

No, defaults don't come with eyelashes, PIPSTEDS, just the Sweetly Twisted face ups if you request lashes. It's really odd that the Fuugas are so far behind. I've already gotten my Princess Kaba and heard from Miriam of Sweetly Twisted that she had my Ophelia Licorice and was starting to work on her after vacation. And I could swear the Fuugas sold out before those other dolls were even released. Charles has a small operation so I guess he just can't crank those dolls out like the bigger companies (and even a lot of them have reputations for LONG waits). It's just sad though that so many people are so eager for her and still have a ways to go. (And Lily was also done by Sweetly Twisted. Talk about your Sass Vats - she must have a huge one she marinates these girls in before they get sent to us! Maybe that's what she uses instead of MSC for sealer!? I'm kind of afraid of that black piggy already and I haven't even met her yet!)

 

Summer ~ OMG ! ! ! ! I hope my Hunter isn't that long. He is coming as is without a Sweetly Twisted face up. But I know Netherlands is really, and I mean really slow at shipping. But they are so well worth the wait!!!!

Darkstar ~ Sweet Willie has flowers for Peril! What a nice gesture, but..................

toydogz4 ~ I just love those stripes! I might try it one day, I have some cool eyes coming from Jpop soon, much like Tilly Moons, just a different color, so Midsummer might just pop up with those stripes eventually.

pipsteds ~ If I had an extra Fuuga, I'd send it to ya to keep you company until yours get here. I know what you are going through, it's a pain in the tush!

 

mine didn't come with eyelashes. grael did my face up and she put eyelashes in Midsummer for me. I really love the look with eyelashes!


BTW ~ we are snowing again!

 

I'm one of those ones who has been waiting since August. I ordered directly from CCC with the default faceup and paid on August 17. I'm pretty sure DDE was not even carrying CCC at that time. So don't get mad at DDE, the delay isn't their fault. My wait is now four and a half months. If you add the two to three weeks shipping time to the US, well .............. it will be a while yet.

I do love seeing the pictures, it helps remind me that the wait will be worth it in the end. Like the rest of you that are waiting, I'm anxious to see who my little one will be.

 

Susan, did you ever get a reply from CCC about how much longer it will be?

I never got an answer to any of my messages and gave up. I only knew mine was on her way when I heard from Sweetly Twisted.

 

From what I can see, Charles must have been bombarded by inquires and hasn't answered publically since early November, so I didn't bother. I'm just trying to be patient.

I just feel sad because I REALLY like his creations and there are others I would order, but I won't until I know the money I spend on Fuuga will really result in a doll.

I also feel really bad for the people who have ordered in the last few weeks and are expecting to get their dolls in two months.

 

OMG this has got to be the Most Exciting and Busy thread on DOA LOL!!! Well, at least its the one I am Always most interested in!

Oh Myyyyy Goodness LOL!!!!!

 

Well, you know Lily can blow hot or cold. Just depends on her mood. It does seem an awful lot of stuff comes into this house by way of Lily, and then she distributes it (or not) as she sees fit. But Peri seems to have been bitten by that acquisitve bug too. She's claimed that little fluffy pukipuki wig for her own even though I had it intended for someone else. Guess I better find a Fairyland GO and get another - heaven forbid we should ever coordinate things so we can share one of something (there's that pesky "S" word again!). Still too windy for the safari. Hopefully we can break out those elephants in a few days! This should be interesting!

I do know that resin casting can depend a lot on the weather (like if it's really humid - lots of rain, etc.). Same for face ups since sealers can't be applied in that sort of weather either. Perhaps that's part of the hold up. They might be getting their own crappy winter weather that is interfering with casting and finishing. I know I want to get back to practicing face ups, but it seems like every other day we are getting snow or rain which means I can't seal so there isn't a lot of point in starting. (Well, that's my reasoning!)

 

Wow Darkstar - I had no idea that faceup attempts needed to be done in certain weather - Heavens! How did you, where did you find this out? EeeeK!

Yup I heard humidity inteferes with faceups and casting. I know french resin is a real problem in the heat and I have no idea what the glow in the dark resins attitude to it all is. Maybe thats why our girls get delayed while pigs and moles etc arent affected. You have to wait at least 8 months for a Unoa. Best things take time. I hope no one is disheartened they will all arrive.

I just bought my vamp girl a vamp cat from a vamp cat breeder lol. She has a little lantern to live in and some other bits and pieces. She is already nagging. Fuuga is already a mystery but I do so want a girl that can wear ALL the clothes (prissy miss is so fussy) and get on with ALL the others (I am a loner I just want my wolf) . She should be with me by my birthday. I am very excited. I just realised she has no hair. I ordered one from Carrie but it got mislaid in the christmas rush. I hope she likes the eyes. I really think she is going to be an easy girl.

Tilly Moon you take my breath away you are just awesome. I cant wait to see you in your new clothes.

Ahhh all you guys waiting for Fuuga... I hopped over to the waiting room thread, and I think all the speculation is just making things even harder. But it did help that someone did get a message from Charles on Dec 30th - this is what they posted

I really think that its a combination of things, because from what I have seen and experienced communication has been really good in the past, but I think CCC are being hit on several levels quite suddenly.

First off, clearly there are some complicating personal matters they are amidst. I really hope Charles and everyone is Ok. Its like being a member of a family being graced with these special dolls. Charles was the first sculptor that I discovered via Alice Cherry Blossom originally, and I just dont know how else to put it, but I just cared about this guy from the first moment I saw that doll and read about how Charles at the time was a sculptor of these amazingly whimsical piggies. I now own Alot of dolls, but something about these particular sculpts and dolls just are extremely special. They have life to them. I just cant explain it any other way. There is something more to them I just cant explain.

Once I found you guys and started actually communicating with Charles, its like being apart of something very special, I felt like I joined a family I care about, so I just really think alot must be going on right now, and I so hope there is some way for you who are new to this company to just truly realize that actually all this right now is just very unusual, and all our dolls really will come.

I am also going to offer a few more things just to balance in with, but I think the topmost thing just is that Charles is clearly amidst some truly difficult family issues. I think any of the rest of these things would be truly complicated enough.

They are a very tiny company, and until recently they sold mostly on a person to person basis, and isnt Triskel also in the Netherlands? This Fall they opened up at least 2 more North American distributors, and I am betting that they could not have quite anticipated what all this actually entails when it comes in particular to communication amidst such sudden expansion.

Then there are all the new sculpts, the Froud collaboration, the expos, and the complicated issues of how to somehow balance all these things.

I think Darkstar is right. I think that some of the dolls just might not be as complex to work out resin with, while other just are - especially when you are also working with other artists timetables with faceups etc. According to one of the notices at the waiting room, Sweetly Twisted also had a holdup of a vacation till after Jan 6th, after which she will be working on the faceups, and then sending them back to CCC to be sent along with their other items.

In his original news notice he did say "the first batch of Fuuga's" and then named first batches of other sculpts. I do not know if what DDE is waiting for is also part of that first batch.

So I am offering what all I culled from the various news fronts. I think one thing that will help is if the CCC Twitter updates or Facebook page just includes quick notes with the sorts of news I culled above. I think Charles was accustomed to responding in person, and as he cares about his customers and his dolls, I am sure its painful that so much just really is complicated right now.

I dont know if any of this helped anyone waiting. I just wanted to try to offer something. The one thing I do know for sure is this, these dolls are unique in ways that I just cannot explain, and they truly are worth waiting for, even though the wait just is really hard.

Man I soooo want a Yoshi, and a Boneka Kayu, and Reindeer Faith, and OMG those woodling Fauns....arrrgh.... Darkstar you sooo did right leaping on that set in Marketplace. Can you take a pic with all your CCC creations together?

BTW it is possible to view Tiggys blog on your Iphone. I know this because it helps me to get thru a day checking in on her latest sagacious spunkiTude. You can actually get on here for example, enlarge the image by spreading your fingers on the screen, hit the link in my signature which will open her blog, press the plus sign, add to your home screen option, and then when you press on her icon it opens her blog and either spread your fingers to enlarge, or else just double tap any pic and it will fill your screen, scrolling slightly up or down will allow you to read the enlarged text as well.

You can also just email yourself a link to her blog and click on that email link when on your iphone and it will open automatically in safari and you can press plus and add the link to homescreen that way.

Its really so very nice to know that she is spreading some spunk to other peoples days as well.

First off my sincere apologies for the long wait and lack of communication!
We encountered long delays with the extra shipping because of the Indonesian Holidays some weeks ago and also because of the busy recent Holiday Xmas Season.

lol thanks for the info on eyelashes, I ordered from dde so no option for a sweetly twisted faceup, I have extra eyelashes here so she will be fluttering them soon after her arrival. I am not really worried about the wait, lati took 12 weeks to send my ysp. But sure glad I paid a deposit then balance when shipps. It gives me time to gather ... stuff ! eek!
plus theres the MP for more instant hit dollies ..... aaaahhhhh!

I really need to get photos done!!! Yes, I have a Yoshi, Deer Faith, and a woodland faun. And I would REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY like to have that Vampfae!!!!!!
And I have a name for her already which makes it even worse! SKEETER!!!

 

I will try to do a CCC "Family" portrait in the next day or so - looking less and less likely that I am going to accomplish much today! Yes, I got very lucky on that Deer Faith and Issa! (Deer Faith has been my tiny grail for quite some time!) I'd see one up and it was either already sold (and not marked!) or on hold. Well, that pair was on hold but the person didn't make their payment on time so they went back up for sale. They were my big Christmas present to myself! I like Deer Faith so much because she is about the same size as the Fidelias. Plus she has such a sweet little face! And while I'd never thought about getting one of the fauns, now that I have Issa I'm happy I do have one!

 

And those teeny tiny hoofs!!!!!

 

Charles, I also sent several messages until I heard from Miriam that she has my little Fuuga and then I was a happy camper! I, above all, know that sometimes life has a way of stepping in and taking all your time and energy and emotion and after all, in the grand scheme of things, these are just dolls. Family ALWAYS has to come first. I hope that 2010 brings good things to you and yours and that you can find peace.

 

Tilly Moon, Inara is preparing to leave to partake in some of that mid millenium brew. She is bringing her own special ingredient (she says incase it tastes nasty)
