Special Event Adopt a Newbie!

Just contacted my newbs! Now I just gotta dig through my doll stash. Some of it is buried under my craft supplies

 

This event is so cool, I didn't think I would be allocated!!! But, I just received my intro message from my old-bie
I am really happy, and can't wait to chat with and hopefully make a new friend!!! Don't want to tag names as not sure if this is an Anon event...just wanted to shout out THANKYOU

 

That's a shame, I am intrigued as to what dolls you have??? I could only see your wishlist he he

 

This is so exciting my minifee is expected to be home this week and I'm so happy to be in this event.

 

I've already got 3/4 of my care package assembled and packaged up. There's a few extra things I need to go buy to add, but for the most part, I'm already done!

 

I'm an Oldie and it seems I didn't get paired with a newbie

I guess that the items I have aren't high in demand.

 

I didn't have very high hopes to be paired because I live in a country quite far away from many people I see here, and I understand that shipping can get costly or troublesome with such distance. However, my old-bie contacted me couple days ago and she is so nice and sweet. I'm sure that me and my doll will really be grateful with anything in the care package. Thank you DoA for holding this event! I hope one day I can also be an old-bie and welcoming other newbies..

Some Oldies didn't get paired because their doll sizes were very uncommon, and there just weren't any Newbies with dolls of that type or size. Others weren't paired because their doll sizes were VERY common (on the Oldie side) and there weren't enough Newbies with those sizes of dolls to go around! But every Oldie who volunteered is a hobby hero, regardless of whether or not we were able to match them up with a Newbie.

 

Turns or my newbie lives close to me! Can we say, MINI MEET!!

I haven't gotten paired with an Oldie *Sigh* I was so hoping to make a new friend too. Especially one with more experience than myself : /

 

Don't worry my fellow Newbie. There are two reasons not to worry.
One. You and I are friends now! So you have at least one friend in the hobby! Message me with any questions and we'll work together!
Two. As it turns out, some Oldies prefer being anonymous benefactors. Your Oldie maybe just didn't message you! I'm sure you got one, and that they're wonderful and will send you delightful things, but maybe they just want it to be a surprise!

 

Awww That's so sweet of you :3 I didn't realize Oldies were opting for anon status ^^; But I can see their reasons for wanting to.

 

I believe my Oldie is an anon donor as well, so you're not alone in the "without contact" area, LadyRed.

 

Just wanna throw out my non-resin hand of friendship here too...I joined up for this event for the exact reasons you mentioned, and my oldie has been in the hobby since the days DoA was on a yahoo chat forum!!! Talk about experience !!! Yikes ... She is like a resin classed Yoda to me he he

 

According to one of the posts by a mod, all newbies got an oldie. Just not all oldies got a newbie. Don't worry, you were paired with someone. They just decided not to contact you and remain anonymous. ^^

If our oldie is remaining anon, how do we know when to expect what they send?

 

The shipping deadline is tomorrow (Sept 8), so I think it's safe to assume within the next 30 days.

I have procrastinated as usual >.> but I got my shipping boxes today and boxed everything up to ship tomorrow. Hope my newbies like the stuff I'm sending

 

I got my oldie, wonderful person with a lot of years in the hobby and so many dolls!! Thank you for this event.

 

If both my newbies are okay with it, is it alright if I send my gifts a few days later? I have stuff to send now but given a little longer I could do much better and make this really cool. I am just having issues with my hand/wrist right now so making some of the things I want to send is a little slower.

@Rosslyn if you have made an agreement/arrangement with your Newbies, the shipping deadline can be flexible.

 

Okay, Oldies! The shipping deadline has passed, so those packages should be in the mail by now unless you have made an arrangement with your Newbie to hold off on shipping for some reason. Also, some of the Newbies did not include their legal names in their submission forms, and we've had a number of Oldies contact us saying that they were having trouble getting a response from their Newbie when they tried to ask for a legal name for shipping. A lot of postal systems don't allow items to be shipped or delivered (especially larger packages) without a legal name. If you're an Oldie still trying to find out your Newbie's real name, you won't be penalized for shipping late. Just ship once you have a name and can safely do so. But unless you're waiting on a name or have made arrangements with your Newbie, those packages should be in the mail at this point!

Newbies, once you receive your packages, please check in here to let us know that you have gotten them. If you would post pictures of your items or of your doll(s) enjoying their new items, I know that the Oldies who have adopted you would love to see that! Remember, if you want to thank your Oldie, use their forum name not any real name that might be on the return address portion of the package. If your Oldie has stayed anonymous, you can just thank your anonymous benefactor if you desire.

 

My package has arrived! I have thanked my oldie via message. o my, I did not know not putting on the legal name could be a problem. I shipped one of my parcels to mrs Totoro Ears...

 

I'm just waiting on my newbie to send me their name, then I'm all set

 

Sent mine off w/their DoA name - I use mine all the time so didn't even think about it LOL Hopefully they will arrive safely.

 

This is the first delivered package pic I have seen... I love that outfit, it will look amazing on your vampire girl !!! What a great gift to receive....Nice one Old-Bie whoever you are

I got my package today..... Yeah especially since I had a rough day, being late to work & eBay giving me a hassle...

I got the cutest stuff from my Oldie who knew I had the big boys, who happens to be someone who I had already met & sent me a pattern I've yet to make a shirt out of as I can't find the Christmas fabric I had..

I will post pics on my Flickr account so you can see all the cutest props I got. Love them all!! This was the best event ever & proud to be a part of!

 

WHOO! Major major thank you to @Kiyakotari for my package! I will never complain about a lack of wigs again! And my very first mini! (An ABS Hujoo baby) And a large head Now I just need to find a body. (Leekeworld Koji head) Here's some of the piccy pics with Bei Lie showing off my new favorite wig. (The look on his face promises horrible things for me later. Eh, it was worth it!)

 

My box is all packed up and should be on its way in the morning. ('Took a couple of days longer than usual since I was sewing something for my newbie-)

 

My oldie's package came on Monday and was WONDERFUL! She is the best!

Sent mine off on Thursday. Already forging a friendship with my newbie--hope she likes what i sent her.

 

One of my newbies' packages is waiting to be picked up at her PO Box, and the other one will be on the way as soon as I have a full name (or as soon as the post office opens again, whichever comes first)!

I got the most fabulous newbies -- it's so much fun getting to know them.

I got a package today from my oldie, the wonderful @cowpewter !!
She sent some lovely clothes for my Dahlia. Unfortunately the super cute shoes were a bit too small to get on but everything else fit perfectly so a huge thanks to her and everyone who organized this ridiculously generous event!! Here's my girl wearing some new clothes (Can't get pictures to show up as usual )

My package arrived couple of days ago,but i wanted to thank my oldbie for everything first before i posted anything. i'm so happy for all of the goodies i received! Here's a pic of everything and Yumeko showing off her new kimono

 

Those clothes are absolutely gorgeous, and I love your smiling doll wearing them!!! Indeed this has been the first newbie event I have watched, and generous is definitely the word!!! I have seen a lot of really great packages being delivered, it is so cool

 

It's really wonderful seeing the photos from the Newbies! Please, keep sharing them as your packages arrive. We all love the excitement!

 

According to the tracking, my newbie got her box this afternoon. ^_^

 

I received my package from @cowpewter on Monday once the campus post opened up! I actually managed to save it for a day and lo and behold who would arrive in the meantime but the doll himself -

It is so exciting to see everyone getting their packages, make me more excited for mine. I think my anon oldie lives far away, but that's really cool.

 

My package arrived! My DoA veteran sent the cutest little fashions and treats for my Feeple60 when she arrives. I cannot thank my "oldie" enough, it was such a thoughtful and adorable package.

A bit late, but I just wanted to mention that my oldie contacted me today. ^-^ There were some delays, but it's perfectly okay. Turns out it's not an anon situation after all.
