I actually ended up switching my layaway to a totally different doll, would it be alright if I submitted a new form and you tossed out my old one? So sorry for the trouble
@Raeosunshine4 Can you start a thread in Ask the Mods for this? It will be more easily attended to with that kind of red flag reminder for us to take care of it. It's no trouble, I just don't want you overlooked in the shuffle.
Oh, no... I am so sorry, but I think I did my newbie application wrong. Firstly, I checked my profile today and the length of membership was way off, and I also misunderstood "Member in good standing" because it said something like "such as in the Marketplace" and I thought that meant I had earned Marketplace membership. I am extremely sorry for the mistake, is it possible to resubmit it? Edit: I'll also post this in Ask a Moderator just to be safe. Sorry if this is in the way!
Hi there! Thanks for your reply. I've submitted an updated form and posted a thread where you suggested. Thank you xx
We can take care of this! Thank you for going to the Ask the Moderator subforum about this, it makes it easier to track!
Me too. I'm still tying to work out how to use the forums and such, I only use my phone and not a computer but I'd love to be more active on here. Maybe a kindly patient oldie will adopt me.
Will we know if we've been matched at all? I'm fine with mystery, but mystery about mystery is a little confusing, haha! Also, I did get an amazingly prompt and helpful reply in all a moderator, so that's all taken care of!
Last year i took on some extra newbies that did not receive a parcel or where just slightly over date in their member ship. Depending on how i get matched up i might be able to do that again. If interested contact me trough email. Please do not pm me, My inbox is full and I cannot figure out how to clean my inbox on my mobile phone. Will have regular Internet again Monday, then i will clear my pm box again.
Sorry i post twice in a row, but what would be more fun, adding some Japanese candy or typical Dutch candy?
Right? Me too. The collecting frenzy has me, my wishlists of different artist's work number in the hundreds of items, I can only imagine this time next year I'll have some really neat things I can share with new collectors! Especially since it'll take me over a year to get all of these things, by which time some things I get now may not make as much sense with everything else as it did now!
right now I'm just trying to get a variety of different dolls and sizes due to I want to make clothing, but sd sized dolls are my favorite but the 70cm dolls are the best to me since there is so much doll to work with! also I was learning how to use Swarovski crystals in beading doll outfits, I made a cherry blossom design. I'm so proud of it, the small things in life are really worth it.
We'll be contacting Oldies with their Newbie assignments within the next 24 hours or so, and letting Newbies know whether or not they've been matched, as well. Oldies will be able to reach out to their Newbies (if they opt to do so) at that time.
Whoever gets me has a crocheting, thermoplastic-wielding, technology-fixing friend for life! I can't wait!
that so descriptive, and thermosplastic that sounds super fancy. You also fix technology oh honey we need to be friends, cause I'm so technologically challenged, I can barely work my phone.
I love that you call it a care package! A care package is SO much more exciting than just a welcome to the hobby gift.
All Oldie/Newbie pairings have been sent to the Oldies who were matched. Not all Oldies were matched, because of their available items/styles/sizes and because of the needs of the Newbies (some sizes were very common, others were very uncommon). In the event of problems with the Newbie/Oldie pairings, we might be reaching out to the unmatched Oldies, or to Oldies who still have unused "Newbie slots" (said they would take two Newbies, were only assigned one) in the next week or two, but at this point, all pairings should be considered final. We tried to honor the wishes of all Oldies regarding international shipping, but it wasn't always possible. We encourage Oldies to reach out to their Newbies via the forum conversation function, as this event is about building relationships and community as much as giving gifts, but we don't require it.
Ah, I was starting to wonder since I hadn't gotten a message...I worried I wouldn't be able to do anything, since I own a very niche size/type range of dolls that I don't think is popular with people new to the hobby, and I guess that's how it turned out. I'm sorry I couldn't do much for a wider range, I know there was a shortage of 'oldies' as it is.
Whoa, does that mean you had extra Oldies and not Newbies? I find that a little surprising, but in a good way! Were any Newbies unmatched due to their unusual requests? Will they be notified if so?
Wait, are the oldies the only ones who got the messages or did I just not get one because I wasn't picked as a newbie? Have newbies who've been chosen got their messages yet?
A big thank you to the mods for preparing this event and being so incredibly gracious with questions. Big wishes for smooth sailing for all the pairs. Will there be a photo thread or anything for newbies to post pics of items received?
Woohoo, I got my newbie!! Can't wait to get home from work and start rifling through my stuff for gifts to send!
I'm signed up as newbie and I haven't been notified at all, is that normal? Or does that mean I wasn't picked?
As a newbie, since I haven't been contacted, I'd really like to know if I wasn't matched! I don't mind; I just need to know whether to be expecting mail since my campus post isn't always super reliable :7 (If I was matched, it's okay if the Oldie chooses not to contact me! I just need to know so I can make sure to check the post office.)
Fellow Newbies, I did notice something about giving the Oldies 24 hours to reply, and since the notifications went live today I noticed a lot of Oldies excited to get home and start doing stuff for it, like contacting us and planning their gifts. I'm sure if we hang in there we'll be pleasantly surprised to get a message by tomorrow!
Okay, so apparently I was matched, but I was given no notification.....fortunately my oldie decided to contact me!
Eagerly awaiting to see if I have been matched as well. ^-^ If I have, I'm looking forward to making a new friend if nothing else.
Well, Im quite pleased with my newbies. Two out of three have clear wishes i can answer. The third one is a bit more vague...and with little posts. so that's a bit harder.
Since the Oldies don't have to contact us, could you tell us if all the Newbies have been matched? I would like to know whether I should be waiting for something. I hope that if I was matched that my partner reaches out though. I would like to meet them.
All of the Newbies who signed up were matched with an Oldie. Newbies weren't notified of their pairing, because it's up to the Oldie whether or not they want to disclose their identity (some prefer to be "anonymous benefactors"). But if any Newbie hadn't been paired, they would have been informed of that.
Okay, thank you! That's what I wanted to know. I guess mine wants to be anonymous. I'll just wait for the surprise!
Okay! I wasn't notified, so I see you sneaky generous Oldie! I know you're out there! Hehe. Take your time Oldies, we Newbies know you're there and we definitely aren't in a hurry!
