8/23/09-8/29/09: Coloring+ Contest!

I hope it's okay that my scanner cut off some of the extra white space o_o; *just sent in her entry*

 

I sent mine in at about 1am this morning (it's now 9:25am) It was a lot of fun to experiment with & I hope it at least stands up to the others that will be on here! I'm loving all these little contests - they've really inspired me! Thanks for all these cute events, & thanks to all those sponsoring them with prizes!

 

are we allowed to add on things to the dolls? Example: Like lightly turning up their lips to make them smile?

 

We ask that you don't change the linework of the picture. However, if you can change the expression with color and shading, that is fine.

 

Oh, alright. @__@ But one of the dolls was missing eyebrows! And - and... I'm a bit paranoid about leaving them out since the last time I left out eyebrows on a piece of work it jumped off the shelf and killed itself wih no one touching it. D:

 

Well, you must admit that there are some dolls who do not have eyebrows as an aesthetic choice. And the staff will not be held responsible for suicidal art projects, sorry!

You posted last night to ask if computer coloring was okay.
You were answered 12 minutes later that computer coloring was not okay.

The contest is for analogue media. It's the terms of the contest. I'm sorry if you wasted your time, but either reading the rules or reading the response to your question would have prevented that. You did not "find out the hard way." You did not pay attention and blaming others is not going to change that.

I had started coloring when I fist herd about the contest,
then decided to ask if digital colouring was alright,
I hadn't been on much since I asked, I returned just before I was ready to post to find the bad news

I think more or less it was a shock to me, DX if anything this was my fault, At the time I was on my laptop, and yadda yadda,
I rushed through alot of things, I heard it was a colouring contest and rushed to get my entry in before it ended

Oh god, I feel so dumb right this minute, but my canvas height was only 592px.

I missed that and, thinking I'd adjusted it, sent it in. Does this disqualify me?

 

I just noticed that the wrong file was uploaded. I have re-uploaded the correct file that has an edited hand on one of the girls. It isn't a problem for those who have already submitted entries, but as Aimee M had taken the time to fix it for me, I feel I should at least make it available!

Again, don't worry if you used the first version.

 

Oh no! I added eyebrows and the missing fingers! I thought we could add on to the image?

Can I resubmit mine with the eyebrows and the fingers off?

I submitted mine early this morning even though I haven't gone to bed yet. >.> hehe. LOTS of fun coloring the image. A great stress relief after the first week of college. O.o. Friday left...

 

I'm submitting it again before I go to bed. Hopefully I'm not disqualified.

yay, a contest that I was able to enter. My drawing skills make my 2 year old cousin's scribbles look good, but I can always color! I'm very glad they allowed photos of the original art to be entered, because some of the embelishments I added made my scanner go CRAZY!

YAY I actually didn't miss a deadline LOL. Got mine in and hoping all is well with it. I really can't wait to see how everyone else interpreted this image.

 

Con's are fun. Be careful of any art projects you might want to bring. They might end up as someone's swag. XD

I very nervously got mine in. - It's been a long time since I colored a preprinted picture!! I sure had fun with it

I had some scary scanner issues and I even tried taking photos of it, but I successfully submitted my entry finally. XD Unfortunately I couldn't correct the colors too much without breaking the no-digital-stuff rule, so I'll just settle for less-than-true-to-life colors and shading and detail. No biggie in comparison to how much fun I had doing this, I'm glad I participated! Good luck to everybody! I can't wait for voting to see everybody's work.

Watercolors back in high school used to whip my tail. I became kinda obsessed with learning it and now I think I'm not a bad hand at it. At least it doesn't go running across the page like a little kid running out of the bathroom that doesn't want her bath.

Nothing wrong with watercolor pencils. Sometimes they are needed for a certain effect. Some people even use them on dolls too. ^^ So twice the perk.

 

T__T For some reason I was thinking the 29th...I guess because of the title.... -sigh- Mines done too...just didn't send it in yet.
Oh well, I guess I'll still post it on my DeviantArt or something

Wow, I'm really looking forward to seeing the entries. I loved that this one was traditional medium only as it gave me a chance to dig out the old - (type of medium) edited out for contest-. Its been ages since I've done anything like this and I sure enjoyed the change.

I was wondering for the ones who worked with watercolors, did you used laser printer? or maked a collage?
I printed mine on ink jet printer XD i like to use watercolors but i was afraid water could blur the lines.

 

I used an inkjet and none of my lines smeared at all..

hmmm I thought about painting it... but in my (late night) bleary eyed daze I opted for something easier to control LOL.... boring ole' pencils. I cant wait to see what others have done with the back-ground..... After finishing mine and submitting it I though... dang I should have done more with it... Oh well... cant wait to see all the entries!!!

Wow, driftingsoul, what did you use for the liquid frisquet, a nib? a toothpick?
My printer is old so maybe the ink is low quality, even when i was using pastels and cotton the lines was like staining a little XD but it was fun to work for once without water.

 

Was wondering that myself Runy. Do please tell driftingsoul. ^^If you like.
