5th Motif Discussion - part 4

Dec 3, 2017

    1. here's a weird question for you BJDivas; will you possibly in the future have the hands set in stock and be able to sell single pairs out of them. I really do not need all 4 sets...but the partially open/gripping hands set is calling to me...possibly in a different skintone than the Venitu I have coming. To be for my Dollshe Bernard. If not, I understand, but I do think it would be a good idea to do that. Thanks again for all you do.

    2. I'm not up for buying 8 hands for two dolls, and was thinking of doing a couple of splits, but it's so much trouble. I want maybe one hand out of a pair, then a pair, etc.
4 sets is a lot. I think Teseya has a good idea. :evilplot: but maybe not practical. which resin colors?
I'd still have to order a whole set for my honey caramel guy, but could probably sell a pair in the MP.
He needs better guitar hands & I see two that will work nicely.

So glad they're not limited. Cho stated that on FB a week or so ago.

      • x 1
    3. I am as certain as I am in that Mr. Cho told me that they aren't limited when I asked him (and re-asked him to make sure :XD:). The way to purchase them will be different from how one would normally order a BJD: Fifth Motif will get a specific number produced each month and then sell them from ready-made stock. So, there will be a limited number each month, however, the number of months they'll be available won't be limited. :whee: In other words, if you can't get them the first month they're released, don't fret, you can get them the month after that (and the one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that, etc ).

If you want a special color or if you need to color-match to your pre-owned Honey skin Fifth Motif doll, you can pre-order those colors for the next month's stock.

I've been trying to persuade Mr. Cho to sell the hands separately, but he's concerned about individual orders slowing down the process and drastically increasing wait times for everyone. My group is currently brainstorming ways that we could do what you're suggesting, but our primary concern is that we'll have "dead stock" in the way of hands that few people would want. While all the hands are exquisite, I think it's unavoidable that some will be more popular than others.

I think that this matter is one that would be better to re-assess after we examine how the initial rounds of hand sales go, the production times, etc. I plan to discuss it again with him after we have that data to work with.

    4. Such good news! I'm saving for a d
Bjd convention and want to put my focus there and didn't want to miss out on limited hands. And now I won't lol :XD:

      • x 1
    5. I am hoping to be able to get on the next round of orders, or snag one that someone can't get via BJDivas. I was hoping Mr. Cho would consider making a MSD size guy, but he says no. So if I want Venitu I have to take him full sized, but my hands will forgive me as will be sure to be careful when I handle him. If nothing else daughter will pose him for me to photograph.

    6. Hearing that they are starting to arrive is so exciting! I am going to think about getting the hands in the future. For now I want to see how the ones he comes with look. Who am I kidding? I bet I will want them all!

    7. Pariah will help me tempt you once again. ;)

    8. No shipping notice but I don't care as my Venitu arrived yesterday. He is in pale tan and Mr Cho included a second set of hands so I now have 4 pairs. I am guessing he did it as there were small sanding lines on a couple. Either way it is wonderful as I have spare hands in case anything happens to his others. The body is gorgeous and the feet are as detailed as the hands. Thank you so much to @BJDivas for ordering him for me.

    9. Congrats @Kavarr He looks fantastic. Hope you will share photos when he is faced up.

      • x 1
    10. @Kavarr - I absolutely cannot wait until I can visit and our boys can be grumpy together. Add a couple of Saints into the mix and we're doomed.

    11. Yay for arrivals!

      • x 1
    12. Congrats on the arrivals of these pretty boys <3

I secretly dream of getting a surprise package without a shipping notice (and without a letter from the customs office as well ;) ) :D

      • x 2
    13. So exciting to see these rolling in! I'm still so sad that I wasn't able to order one but I'm happy to see them all the same :)

      • x 1
    14. Ok I made the mistake of looking at photos on Flickr of Goohwa and I fell hard, so now I have to save up for both boys as I heard modding a body for these boys heads takes an expert and figuring another body and mods by someone who knows what they are doing is going to end up costing me as much so may as well get both on proper body. Oh these two are going to be something. Goohwa I chose after my Irrealdoll Ringo arrived, she needs a big brother.

    15. Yeah, I'm not particularly looking forward to making a neck adapter for my Goohwa head and/or doing a neck mod. Twigling does have neck adapters for that particular size, but you need to buy an Eloy head to get one plus any additional ones.

Which, honestly, I love Eloy and want him, too, so oh no, I might have to suck it up and get an Eloy head. XD

Alice's Collections also sells what looks to be like a neck adapter? They call it a neck protector, but it does show me how the whole adapter thing is supposed to look/work. So yay.

    16. Thanks, but I think since I was looking at a $650 body and then work on it I would feel better just getting both boys from Mr. Cho's talented hands. Besides at my age I feel family would prefer I get what I want and then they decide equally who gets what and it's all fair.

    17. I definitely understand! If I could've swung it, I would've gotten the head + body, too. It's a great body, and I seriously lust after those elbow joints.

I... I make no excuses for myself.

      • x 1
    18. @bewaretheshort1 if I could have hybrid him easily would just get the extra head, but considering how few are made, and the crazy resale prices, I just feel I have to get both. But going to try really hard to not anymore dolls after these two.

    19. Could someone who already owns a Venitu message me? I have some questions regarding comparison pictures with a Venitu I found secondhand.

      • x 1
    20. I have - and you have me curious.

      • x 1
    21. I'm happy to help too if you still need it?

      • x 1
    22. Questions have been answered, thank you both <3

      • x 1
    23. Haha! I finally finished my layaway for the Goohwa head.

And now, we play the waiting game.

      • x 1
    24. Congrats. @bewaretheshort1 Looking forward to photos. What skin tone did you order?

    25. I got him in Oriental @animemom I still have to pay shipping, but BJDivas doesn't charge shipping until they're ready to ship the head to me. In my least optimistic estimate, that won't be for another month. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that full dolls were going to be completed first, followed by heads.

      • x 1
    26. That's what I ordered in skin tone as well. I was wanting a different skin tone, but just couldn't justify the additional cost.

    27. Same! I drooled over the blue for a while, but at the time, I had just finished a layaway for a pair of Dollshe heads, repaired my car, and the holidays were starting. And the character the head eventually was meant for wasn't blue in any case.

    28. I really want a black suit for my Fifth Motif. I know there have been many discussions here about what clothes fit, but I cannot find it right now in the thread. I really like Freedom Teller's suits, but I assume non of their sizes (70cm, EID, SID, SD17, SD13) can fit Fifth Motif properly, so can someone recommend a shop or seamstress that makes suits in Fifth Motif's size? :D

      • x 1
    29. I believe venitu can fit EID size but thereโ€™s a few shops that do outfits for venitu like space studio bjd on instagram/Etsy. They tend to do ordering periods for specific outfits tho

      • x 1
    30. @BoneLace Thanks :D I assume that is EID model size, since I know EID super hero is too big (I have some clothes in that size already)?

      • x 1
    31. @Prinsessen
Well me and my friend uses standard EID clothes :0c
I usually just use a safety pin in the back for shirts to tighten them a bit

      • x 1
    32. I heard it was EID model size, not super hero. I thought Freedom Teller would do alterations if they get info. I personally want them to be dressy but casual so turtlenecks, and slacks or dress shirts and jeans. But we'll see what they say about that.

    33. I asked if they were willing to offer 28M sizes on their recent post actually and they replied they wonโ€™t be doing it :0c I mean I know itโ€™s not asking for alterations specifically but do you think they would have mentioned that theyโ€™d do alterations if they did?
Or have you asked them specifically about it already?

      • x 1
    34. I have never talked to them. This was all just hearsay from the past. I believe enough people have skills to find a seamstress or tailor for help.

    35. Oh is that not something weird to do?
I havenโ€™t had a lot of chances to buy clothes yet ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ and I donโ€™t know many tailors or seamstresses so.

      • x 1
    36. Period Threads is a great seamstress, as is Wicked Stitchery a great tailor. Etsy does have great talent, but until they get an actual Venitu or Goohwa I don't think we'll see much from them. Hopefully soon some stuff will be shared on thread for great fitting items off the rack lets say.
      Hugs, Marie

    37. Freedom Teller EID model works very well. Here's a photo of my boy in his suit back when he first arrived.

The pants are a little loose around the waist, but nothing too bad.

    38. Thanks for sharing the photo and info @solitary agent I hope many more will share their finds as well.

    39. Anyone else received a Venitu recently? I'm so hoping mine will get here soon. Or is Mr. Cho taking a break for the holiday?

Thanks to each of you for sharing pics of your gorgeous Venitus!

      • x 2
    40. I hope he and his brother are enjoying the holiday. Five hours of sleep a day and very tired hands from sanding parts should get well deserved rest. I feel guilty for wanting two from them so glad they have holidays to make them rest.

    41. @solitary agent Thank you for sharing! Your boy looks really good in the suit and the size seems good :D

    42. @BoneLace
Since you have shoes from SartoriaJ that fit perfectly, would you, please, provide a link to the specific pair and if possible a picture of the shoes on the doll.

    43. @passionasfashion
I guess I must have mentioned I have their shoes at some point because I never use them LOL doesnโ€™t match the boyโ€™s fashion and also he doesnโ€™t stand stably with them. He leans forward instead. Sorry for the hasty photos, had to rush them before I left this morning.

Also his jacket is from iplehouse for EID
The sleeve was made to be a little bit shorter since itโ€™s supposed to go with the sweater on my dollshe.

    44. Thanks for sharing the information and photos @BoneLace

    45. My Venitu is on his way for the second time. First to my home address, then to where I am now. I didn't want to wait...
I should be picking him up tuesday or so b/c of work. I am so completely unprepared...as everything is still packed. But I will share pictures when I get him.

    46. @BoneLace
Thank you so much for your time to take and post the pictures. Your comment "he doesnโ€™t stand stably with them. He leans forward instead" is greatly appreciated.

You have saved me wasting money. I was going to buy for a gift and would have severely disappointed my friend who only wants footwear that the doll can " free stand" in.

    47. Hello, all of you lovely people!

I am so happy to be able to post in this thread... because I have started paying for a Venitu of my own! I first joined DoA years ago, basically because of Venitu, but I couldn't afford him then. I was also taking a break from the site late last year when Fifth Motif did another sale, so when I found about that after the holidays, I was seriously gutted!

But a kind person who owns a Venitu from the original sale years ago has decided to sell him to me, and I cannot wait to get him set up and start photographing his beautiful face and hands! I love seeing all of your photos here, they are fantastic. :)

    48. I picked up my Venitu yesterday and took tons of pics and a video...I just haven't figured out how or where to upload it yet.
I must admit...he is huuuge! I took some comparison pics with my Dollshe Saint old hound body...and he makes him look waif like. None of my dollshe clothes fit except maybe stretchy shirts. I had yo make him some wrap pants and a vest. I will need to invest in EID or 28M clothes. I adore his hands! And I may need to get more small iris 14mms...as no eyes I have really work well. *sigh* so many things I need to figure out with him. Pics soon.

    49. Has anyone started a thread by chance about clothes that do and do not fit? I've been enjoying the conversation here lately immensely, but it would be lovely if there was a clothing only thread. I've put SID pants on my guy and while they technically fit, they are way too short and he would constantly need to wear tall boots to compensate. Thankfully I had a random no brand tag 70cm shirt that worked out, so the poor dear is not naked. Just barefoot and faceless at the moment. >_<

      • x 2
    50. A thread on what clothes fit sounds like a great idea. I have quite a few tall guys and going to try some things on him. His shoulders look about as wide as my EID boy. For those of us (like me) who cannot sew it would be great to hear what other clothes fit him.

    51. Just got a mail that my Venitu is on shipping O.O I don't have anything for him- beside a wig and eyes.

    52. Congrats @meanae I am anxious for my boy's to ship, but have to finish paying them off.

    53. I went ahead and started a "what fits" thread, for those who would like to join in you can find it over here.

@Kavarr When you get your guy sorted out, it'd be lovely if you could share your findings on the new thread.

    54. Thank you @animemom , and thanks for the thread @MacaronTea! I'm currently browsing taobao to find some basic clothes for Yuri, so that thread helps a ton. :)

    57. I am wondering if I should take the leap and buy the sneakers on iplehouse as just can't seem to find any affordable sneakers that fit these guys. I wish someone in China did as rather buy both boys a pair then afford only one for them to share.

    58. I bought a pair on Taobao, obviously they are aren't as nice as the ones on Iple but they were way cheaper. It was a while ago and I forgot the link though, if you're interested I could try to locate it again.

    59. I was having a hard time fitting any of my eyes into my new Venitu and was hoping someone might have some info and advise? On the size chart...it says he takes 14mms...but the ones I have make his irises way too huge. The 12mms I have have too small whites, but the small iris 14mms I have fit well (they just got stained T.T). I was looking into getting 14mm silicone...but am worried about the iris being too big. I know eyeco 13mm (on safrin is 12mm) fit my Dollshe boys well, but safrin is really low on stock of those. Anyone have any advice on what will work for him? I tend to like a more realistic look rather than huge iris...

    60. @Teseya
Oh man that's really odd. I used 12mm glass eyes (high dome) for mine originally and then I got soulinabox 12mm eyes (low dome) and both fit without much if any gaping at all. He originally had 14mm glass eyes (high dome) from his first owner. I have 2 venitu right now and the eyes ive listed work for both heads.

If you have any other 12mm eyes give those a shot? just to see how the size goes? Are the 14mm small iris ones you got resin?
