What fits 5th Motif?

rRabit 70cm men's pants and stretchy sweaters fit my Venitu.

 

My boy wears EID model clothes from Iplehouse and Freedom Teller. The only issue is that the waists are a little loose, but not enough to really bother me. I also have a couple of 70cm boy shirts from Alice's Collections that fit him.

 

My Venitu wears at the moment:

dar_k_ling_1976 pleather pants (made for Venitu) (instagram)
Saturaij SD-classic wrap shirt for M28/ EID model (etsy)
Rrabbit 70cm shoes (rrabbit site)
He wears 12mm eyes with a small iris

I have made him all his other clothes.

 

Hey guys, I dunno if this is helpful or not but I've been keeping a personal color coded chart for BJD sizes to compare for clothes and I just remembered that it might be good for this thread too
Dark purple is the size we're comparing with (venitu) and anything lavender is .5cm smaller OR bigger than the Timeless body.
So far I've been manually entering in the different bjd sizes and I haven't finicked around with the sizing tolerance yet (IE if something is >2cm or something, dont count it as 'fitting') so if there's any sizes I should consider adding or any thoughts on how to revise the 'what fits' system, let me know.
The comparison method is automated though so no worries on the numbers being off.

 

I have something similar, and clothes aren't as hard as shoes. Can make clothing work by finding with needle and thread, but making shoes bigger not possible. Finally found sneakers, just affording them is the trick.

Not everyone has sewing skills though This chart has a wonderful amount of customizers who can do amazing work but I know that me and my friends are definitely not people who have the time or ability to sew so having an at a glance chart is helpful for buying clothes for someone like me who have no interest in sewing.

 

°stares at chart° ... thats... handy. There are a few errors in it though - you mention anything plus/minus 0.5cm from venitu on is lavender, but the 21cm IOS80 shoulders are lavender too, even though they're 3cm off. 1,5cm on each side off is a pretty big difference

I can give you some of the missing measurements for the ID72 if that helps... his hips are for example 34cm in circumference, not 28. He fits perfectly fine into EID clothes Funny thing - the ID72 fits into the RGM03 Norman suit jacket, but not the pants. The shirt fits too, but its veeeeeery stretched (but should therefore fit Venitu, I'll test that once he's here).

Hips: 34cm
Upper leg: 18,5 right below the joint, 21cm at the thickest point
Lower leg: 13cm right below the knee, 16,5cm at the thickest point
Ankle circ: 10cm
Foot length: 9,5cm
Foot width: 4,3cm
Shoulder width: 19cm incl. arms; 12cm not including arms
Upper arm: 12cm
Lower arm:10cm
Wrist: 7,5cm
Waist: 27cm
Hand lenght: 8,2cm (incl. joint), 7cm without joint
Legs: 40cm when measured on the outer side; 33cm inside
back length: (base of his neck to right above his butt) 18cm

 

I meant as far as stitching waist in a little in back to keep pants up but usually even that's not an issue as helps get over hips. I wasn't talking about making clothes.

Ah sorry I must have worded that weird!! What I’m using is Venitu < Comparison + .5
So anything bigger than venitu in general is highlighted lavender and anything .5cm smaller is also lavender though you’re right that 3cm difference seems really big hmm do you think a -.5 < venitu < +1.5cm difference is better?

Also man that’s bizarre that it’s 34. It would be bigger than the ID75 measurements if that’s the case? Just checking to make sure because the feet size sounds like the ID75 size according to the Soom page

I can probably also fork a copy of the chart too so everyone can help update with sizes and stuff? :0c
I made this originally because I just like making charts and at a glance things

 

Soom has two charts with ID72 sizes on their page, and they have different measurements on both tables, lol. I just measuremend mine, som those numbers are accurate The ID75 is a bit slimmer in the hips, but broader in the shoulders, so that would make sense. ID72 and ID75 can share shoes and most clothes - pants are just sometimes not the right length or shirts too tight in the shoulders. But we're getting away from the current topic

Would be neat if the chart would be online (google spreadsheet for example). Or just ask around in the right threads for measurements you're missing?

 

Hehe, Venitu does have rather long arms! But his whole build is lanky muscle, long fingers, long arms, slender waist, long legs, long toes. Hehe. So it all is of a piece.

Looks great @BoneLace I really love a certain bjd shop (首页-MIYA BJD专店-淘宝网) and now I know that I can safely buy their IP/EID stuff for my Venitu... they always make the shirts a bit too long, so that should fit with Venitu then.

On a lighter note, Dollmore female model doll pants fit Venitu (that one, at least Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more), but they fit tight, and, uh, emphasize his crotch.

Miya BJDs (from the taobao link above) jeans fit rather well on the hip (2cm diff, but that can be covered with a well placed needle), but are loose in the legs (well Idealian and venitu legs are like a tree trunk versus sticks). Miyas fabric pants are extreeeemly loose and would need some serious stiching to make them fit properly (tbh they were already too wide on my idealian... at least in the hip, legs are okay).

The Iplehouse EID training set fits Venitu perfectly fine.

The Ringdoll RGM01/02 Suit pants from Kay/Sol does not fit. Venitus legs are too thick... but the shirt from the same set t fits (just too short in the arms and a bit tight in the shoulders).

The Ringdoll RGM03 Norman fullset outfit (grey suit + wine red shirt) actually fits pretty, pretty well. I don't own the pants anymore, but they were too tight on my Idealian, so they might fit too!
And since RD offers all they clothes in their 4 different body sizes, that opens their whole clothing line

Shoes:
Dollmore model doll shoes don't fit (9,5cm inner lenght.. .these Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more). The Glamour Model shoes should fit, but with 12cm inner lenght they might be too big (http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step0.php?b_code=B20050506094358&c_code=C20081024065335)

Ringdoll shoes don't fit (these: RingDoll - not because if the length, but because of the width).

Random high leather boots from alice collection (Shoes for BJD Dolls - BJD Accessories, Dolls - Alice's Collections) ... are actually too big for him, lol. But fit Idealian nicely.

Shorter leather boots (Bjd Boy DarkBrown/Black Short Boots shoes for 70cm Ball-jointed Doll_SHOES_Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) company-Legenddoll) fit pretty good (although a tad big) in the 'muscle' size.

Shoes for a suit (Bjd Shoes Bright Black Shoes 10604 for 70cm Size Ball-jointed Doll_SHOES_Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) company-Legenddoll) fit really, really well.

Leather shoes with buckles (Shoes for BJD Dolls - BJD Accessories, Dolls - Alice's Collections) don't fit at all, even in the bigger size... they're too stiff, you can't get the foot in.

 

I ordered from Blue Blood Doll the two suits they have and two pairs of these shoes.

1/3 BJD EID Model Male Doll Suit #M3-106MOD
1/3 BJD EID Model Male Doll Suit #M3-55MOD
Both suits look fantastic but won't know if they fit until May or maybe even June.

The shoes should be fine, just need the socks and will have some dashing and stylish boys.

I tried on some Dollmore Model pants on my Venitu. A bit tight getting around the thighs but nice fit in length and waist. However, the pants are slim around the hips (though they fit) and you can really notice his male parts creating a bulge. Not my favorite, but everyone has their preferences.

Venitu is 5th motif actaully. I have a couple Dollshe...and none of their clothes fit this new boy. The Timeless body is lanky but thick...so hard to fit.
I see the chart and all, but I'm having a hard time ordering a little blind, as there are so many different opinions on what fitting means. I'd at least like it to fit over his thighs, not leave a bulge and not leave a crack when sitting as for pants. And shirts, I'd like it to fit his shoulders but not be baggy in the waist. I don't see any of that as an option with any of these makers clothes. Can any of the long time Venitu owners chime in with their collection of clothes?

 

I like Iplehouse SID shirts for my guy. They are not unreasonably loose, and fitted across the shoulders, but if long-sleeved, the sleeves will fall short of the wrist. More like a 3/4 sleeve. I think the waist fit is very natural, but I'm not sure if you want a super snug shirt that really clings?

As for pants, I use Rrabbit's 70 cm super stretchy pants, as others have mentioned. I'm not sure you are going to find many pants (that weren't specifically made for Venitu and so with a looooong crotch) that do not show a bulge when sitting though...just because of the way he's sculpted. But they have a high waist and do not ride down when he sits.

I have some other things that I need to post in here too, but I have to find the time to take photos of it.

 

Is it possible to create the same chart but for eyes? I found only few posts about eyes for Venitu and some of them have no links to the shops - buy eyes are very important for the character. I wish I could find some 11-12mm small iris eyes, which will not leave the gaps in eye sockets - the most realistic ones. What do you think about it?

 

Maybe those almond shaped eyes would work?
I decided to use 14mm small iris eyes on Victor because the 12s always left gaps for me. Since he's based on an anime character, that iris size is nice on him. He's had a few different pairs in that size (both glass and urethane) and they all fit well, for what's that's worth.

 

14mm oval glass eyes fit good, but have a rather large iris; 12mm oval eyes fit barely (there are small gaps at the sides), but their iris size fits pretty good (these to be precise: BJD oval eyes - Glass - 10 - 12 - 14mm).

I've got myself some 14mm diy eyebases with small iris a while back, and while I initially though that their iris is a bit to small, I got to like them by now The eyebases are the same as the small Iris eyes BlueberryStyle has in their shop (these).

 

Thank you. Actually your Venitu has one of the best face-ups to me, realistic and relaxed face. So the eyes on this photo are 14mm with small iris, Blueberry style right?

 

Thank you @RTorson And yes, exactly. Only difference is that Blueberrys eyes have a flat iris, while the DIY eyes have a concave iris.

I have found the SID sized shoes to be juuuuuust too small (I had a pair of black boots and they almost, almost fit, but wouldn't zip up the back).
And personally, I think the EID shoes look too big. I think a lot of people use EID-sized shoes for Venitu though because it's hard to find a shoe that's in between those sizes.
Or do some fit better than others? I have an EID-sized boot that I tried on Victor, but I think it looks funny. I'll see if I can take some photos to show you the EID boot.

 

I just got some Granado boots and they fit the foot easily. I got the long boots and the calf area is very roomy, maybe a little too roomy, but good enough and better than too tight. Easily zips up.

Ok so, all of the shoes photographed fit on the foot and zip up all the way. I've found I have best luck with shoes that have a rounded toe and zip up the back. So far I haven't had any luck with shoes that lace up only, even if there seems to be enough space if you measure the bottom of the foot to the bottom of the shoe. Does every one else have this issue too?

Here are the kinds of shoes I have:

~ Volks SDGou: not all shoes in this size will fit. I have multiple Volks shoes and their size is very variable. So far only these ones fit for me. So buy with caution.

~ Dollmore Glamor Model: Once again, not all fit. I also purchased a pair of loafers and they were comically huge, so more caution...

~ Iplehouse EID: These are easy to get on, but personally I think they make his feet look funny. It may be because they are boots? I don't know if shoes would be better. I don't personally use them for Victor. They kinda remind me of snow boots on him. They are that kind of bulky. The tops are also loose around his calf.

I want to ask you if it is okay to share with me where you got his sweater from? It is very cool and interesting

 

I think front views won't show as odd so to me even if a little big. It's when you show side views that may show the true size. For me if a boot is tall I want the pants to fit inside otherwise what's the point of buying boots. Plus seldom are pants roomy to allow leg to go over a boot.

It's so super soft and I thought the pattern and color were so perfect for Victor that after squinting at it for days I just had to take the chance, and it fits him wonderfully! Even the arm length is perfect.
It was "Spiritdoll Proud v2" size.

That's true. Though the tops on these are loose even over his pants. They are pretty thin pants to be fair though. They definitely fit him easy peasy, my nit pick is aesthetic.
Also, I'm just super picky with Victor because his character is so stylish. Hehe. I want to do him

So I bought these shoes for Venitu from Blue Blood Dolls:

And they are beautiful but absolutely ginormous!!! They're like boats! I'm really disappointed. I should have checked the measurements first. My fault. Just wanted to pass that on.

 

I bought the dark ones. I am fine with them being a bit big as will have them wear socks. Are they super loose? Please let me know so I can find replacements as my guys won't arrive until maybe June. @Jay

 

Okay so my taobao order came in, a few more infos
First of all - i got a suit custom made by Dollsolo, and it fits absolutely perfect Arms and legs are long but slim enough (with EID stuff I always had the problem that its but too short and too wide everywhere) to fit the timeless lanky body like a glove.



I've also ordered this coat from M7 (link) - it has a really nice length, but the arms are too short and its super tight in the shoulders. Bleh. but still looks okay I'd say.

Also ordered these two pairs of shoes in 'muscle body'-size (Link and Link).... lets say Venitu swims in them. Inner length is about 12,5cm - thats the outer length of the shoes Yuri is currently wearing, orz. He loos like a clown (no pic, sorry).

 

He looks awesome. I am so hoping my boys arrive by June as so many things for them to try on. I would want to part with stuff that won't fit so I can afford stuff that does. But until they arrive I won't know. Its hard especially knowing this is a size I have never owned before.

Just stopping to share that I bought these shoes for my boy in the "muscle 70cm" size and they fit to an extent - they lace up tightly enough and will stay on, but his toes go nowhere near the toe of the shoe.

 

Oh, those look interesting for what I need. Do you happen to have a photo of them being worn? Are they just really big looking?

Guys I recently found the legend doll site and there seems to be a lot of brands like bears being sold there that could fit 5th motif dolls. A lot of them are loose and stretchy so it could fit well on Venitu or Goohwa. Has anyone tried buying clothes from here?

Fit Venitu too Most Sd17 stuff should be a tad too slim though...
I also have the pants in muscle70 size that sits a bit loose, but fits Venitu too (BJD Clothes Boy Trousers for MSD/SD/SD17/70cm Size Ball-jointed Doll_SD_SD_CLOTHING_Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD) company-Legenddoll).

 

I don't know as I don't have my guys yet. I won't until maybe June. I do know they are sized for EID so they should.

@d_caw I personally have never heard of them. I bought similar items on Etsy from Chocolate Handmade. In f just ordered a couple of umbrellas from them today.

As much as I love my Venitu, I am so terrified of breaking him (and his stringing is so bad) that I don't change his clothes that often. :/ But I've been going through recent clothing purchases to find I want to keep and what can be passed on to new owners, so I changed Bastian's "outfit" last night and got some pics of a sweater that I thought you guys might like to see.

This sweater is by the toy company Maileg (Maileg USA | Official Maileg Retailer in North America) in their "Mega" size. Maileg makes stuffed dolls and animals, as well as furniture and clothing for them. The measurements they have for their size ranges are very vague, but I took a risk and ordered some items that were on final sale across a few sizes. The "Mega Maxi" size is WAAAY too big -- I gave the sweater in that size to a friend who collects Build-A-Bear animals (and it fit). But the "Mega" sweater size is decent on Venitu, even if it's a bit long.

I also got a jacket in "Mega" size that fit my Iplehouse YID decently but did not fit Venitu. I do not understand how the "Mega" sweaters fit but not the "Mega" jacket...

Bastian still has only one pair of pants, and they only fit because they're a pair of drawstring waist sweats lol. I NEED to get this boy some jeans or something, damn.

 

Oh, and the "Maxi" size hats from Maileg fit 8-9 size heads well.

 

I wanted to let everyone know that you can do a custom order with Freedom Teller of their SID-sized suits with longer sleeves and pant legs and they will fit the Fifth Motif body really well! ^__^

I think the fit of the shirt/suit jacket/vest are better in this modified SID size than with the Model EID size.



Things to note!

I don't think he should sit in the pants. I think he might pop the crotch. I haven't tried it, but I knew the pants would fit like that going into the order. They look really good, so it wasn't concerned about it.

The pant leg length I requested works well for dress-style shoes, but if you want your doll to wear boots they will be too long.

No problem! I was SUPER excited about this.
I had the idea in my head for ages and ages...but I was sorta intimidated to ask Freedom Teller if they would do it...since it's not a doll size they carry exactly. But they were super sweet about it and happy to do it.

Today I took some quick photos of all the items in the outfit so everyone can see the fit better. (I know it was hard to see everything with all the props, but I was excited to take that photo and didn't have the chance at the time to take other photos for reference.)
