5StarDoll Tinies Discussion Part 3

Jun 20, 2013

    1. Thank you Gherkin. I hear you - tempted to rescue him, but twins is plenty. Three sets of twins - how fun! These dolls are addicting :lol:

    2. Merlin's Mom, your second Ray came with green eyes? That's so cool! My Ray's are so brown, they are almost black.

      Yup, looks like it's time for you to get some "boy" material, cos those little guys aren't going to appreciate little girlie flower prints. I'm looking forward to what you find! I know it will be adorable; like little dinosaurs or maybe itsy frogs. *so cute!*

      Your Kathy looks great with that wig! That icy blond wig goes good with her blue eyes. And, I love that little outfit, too! You are so good with all the little jewelry accessories.:thumbup

      I hear you on the wig issue; I think everyone has that problem with wigs. I have a drawer full of wigs that didn't work out. :eek:

    3. Ryan came with the dark brown eyes. I changed them to a dark green so the twins wouldn't be identical. I received his new wig too, I like the color but not sure about the style. Here they are together. Depending on the angle they seem more bored than pouting :lol:[IMG]

    4. They look totally adorable together! Such darling twins. :chibi

      The wig looks good; you just have to fuss with it a little more until you're happy with it?

      (Love the doll room in the background! I keep trying to see all the little furniture and wall stuff.)

    5. Aw. :3nodding: Is it just me or are the faceups different? Love them.

    6. I will try to get a photo of the doll room in the background so you can see it - I can put a 5Star in for the photo. It will be awhile though as my grandson came to visit yesterday and will be here for two weeks. I played some more with his wig and am liking it more :thumbup
      I think the difference is the wigs and eyes - it is funny how much little changes can change the look of the doll.
      Thank you both for your kind comments.:3nodding:

    7. Merlin's Mom, have a great visit with your grandson! We'll hold down the fort while you're gone.

    8. I will try to at least come in and lurk during his visit. Keep the spam coming!

    9. Poor little Ray - I'd love to rescue him, but I really can't afford paying twice the price (if you add shipping and customs) when I have so many other resin kids coming that I'm still paying off...

    10. I know - I am tempted, but really don't need three of the same. I keep looking to see if maybe someone decided they really needed to bring him home :(

    11. Dante definitely has a story! I will share it once I can get him together enough to share pics. He has no face up at the moment, and his outfit is partially made. He is also borrowing someone else's wig. Poor boy! Maybe today I can get something done with his face. Not feeling very motivated. :sigh:

    12. Looking forward to seeing him and hearing his story - no rush whenever you have him completed:thumbup

    13. Oh yes! We definitely want to hear Dante's story, pepperonipizza! :D

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Poor little Ray. Someone will certainly buy him and give him a good home. I'd love to buy him, but I've got my heart set on my next boy being an Aiden! I want an Aiden in red resin so bad!!! :shudder
    14. I keep looking, too - he's so adorable. And F&F have shoes that I could really use, too... I just wish I didn't have to deal with customs. They charge an arm and a leg sometimes.
      I once ended up paying more import duties than the doll had cost originally - I did get most of it back later, but it took months and a lot of paperwork... It should be something like 20/25 percent of the total, including shipping... Which is still a lot of money.
    15. That is a chunk of change and a bummer. Is it cheaper if you order directly from 5Star?
    16. Wow! Fairy Milliner, I had no idea import duties were so severe! I've never had to pay customs fees here in the states. That would certainly put a cramp in my doll buying inclinations.
    17. Here's my jester...(Amy) Hope you like her!
    20. Well I broke down and ordered Ray from F&F. I just felt sorry for him. He will be a she when she arrives - triplets but one girl:doh
      • x 2
    21. OMG!OMG!OMG! You did it, Merlin's Mom! I guess you just couldn't leave him there all alone and unloved. What a big, ol' softy you are! :aangel: Well, he's certainly going to a good home! (I mean "she" is going to a good home.)
      And while I'm on the subject of "she"; are you going to do some modification work on his stuff to make him a girl?:chibi
      Congrats on saving the last little Ray! :thumbup Can't wait to see all three of your Rays together!
    22. Hello everyone! I was wondering what wig size Nancy and Jay take and what would be the best eye size? Thanks!
    23. Hi Rabbit-moon - I don't think I will mod him to her - you can't tell when they are dressed. I just couldn't let him linger there unloved :lol:
      I have Nancy and she wears a 6-7 wig and 14mm eyes. I tried 12mm, but it left a little gap. I don't have Jay yet, but it seems most of them can wear 6-7 wigs and they come with 14mm eyes. Have you ordered them? I think you will be really pleased with the quality of the dolls.
    24. Hi thealienprince! Welcome to the 5Star Tiny thread!
      Have you ordered your dolls? Are you getting both a Jay and a Nancy? They are both super cute!
    25. @Merlin's Mom @Rabbit-moon I have only discovered them today but they are perfect for my character! I'm trying to figure out which one is better for them though. Thanks!
    26. thealienprince, 5Star tinies are great! I love mine! You will not be disappointed.
      So what character are you looking to embody in your story?
    27. @Rabbit-moon My Carina's (Bobobie Pandora) little sister! She's an little adventurer like Avian and Carina.
    28. :lol::thumbup That's awesome. Now 'she' will have a home, and be very spoiled as a part of your crew!
      Oooh, yay, another 5star (soon to be) owner! Like Rabbitmoon said, these dolls are fantastic. :)
    29. Pepperonipizza - I think I am a little more than crazy, but 2 boys and a girl isn't too bad - hopefully she will be home tomorrow.
      the alienprince - totally agree with Rabbit-moon and pepperonipizza - you will love these dolls, but a word of caution - they like to invite friends into the house :eusa_naug
    30. Okay! Now that really made me laugh! :mwahaha:mwahaha:mwahaha
      So! That explains what's been going on in my house! You really have to keep an eye on these little guys!:o
    31. Hee hee hee, they DO invite friends into the house! And you far too easily become their mindless zombified minion, clicking order buttons before you know it. :chomp:
      Can't wait to see what you do with the newest addition, Merlin's Mom! :D
    32. :...(The post office delivered my Ray to the wrong address! Tracking says it was delivered this morning - I was waiting for the postman but it wasn't delivered here. Now the horrid job of trying to find out where poor Ray went - I am so sad :(
    33. OH NO! How awful! :horror::...(:horror:
      What a bummer!!! I've had that happen to me a couple of times with the Post Office. It's so irritating! I had to call them and they quickly saw the mistake. I guess I was lucky because, somehow, I usually got my doll a couple of days later.
    34. :celebrateThe person that received my doll in error brought it over late yesterday evening. So the little sweetie is here! I think from now on I will request my orders be seen with signature required. At least he/she is here. I hope to have some time to play with her tomorrow.
      Edit: I played with her quickly - I need to work with her hair and maybe give her blue eyes but Rosalie (Rose for short) wanted to say hi after her harrowing journey. [IMG]
    35. Wow! Ray looks cute as a girl! I love the outfit and those shoes are adorable! *squee*
      So glad you finally got your dolly home! That was super-nice of the people who got your package by mistake to bring it to you. (I always pay extra to get Signature Required for all my doll arrivals. My Post Office screws up too much to do otherwise.)
      Congrats on getting your Ray home! Looking forward to triplets photos! :D
    36. Rabbit-moon the shoes are from DDE - they have them in the red and also black -they are Jinny JS037 Talia. They have a slight heel so I wasn't sure she would be able to stand unaided in them, but she stood like a trooper.
    37. @Merlin's Mom - your newest acquisition is adorable! I'm glad you got her okay. I once had some mail delivered wrongly - I believe it was a IH Lion head. I was in fits, but thankfully the nice person brought him to me around 6 or so that same night. Its nice when there are honest people out there.
    38. Thank you pepperonipizza - it is very heartwarming to know there are still a number of honest people. I am very happy with Rosalie, and think she will be adorable when I have a little more time to play with her. I am showing my age, but I remember a time when mail was never misdirected.
    39. Sweet! I love your girls dress!
    40. Thank you Cyador - it was made by SSDesigns from ebay. She is local in my area so I was able to buy from her without paypal.
      Edit: I ordered a DollMore Narsha outfit when I ordered Rosalie just to see if they would fit - they really don't fit to my liking. A little big around and too long. Just wanted to let everyone know.
    41. Nancy agreed to model the DollMore Narsha outfit and show off her secondary wig - the outfit is a little long and a little large around the middle. The socks are definitely too big. I was hoping this would work for Hester when she arrives[IMG]
    42. Has anyone try to hot glue suede their 5stars? Mine is such a bad poser.. she is double jointed and poses worser then my single jointed old minifee body
    43. Sorry SteffiPuschel - I can't help with the glue suede question. Most of my dolls are tightly strung and need to loosen up.
      Here are the triplets all together - Ryan, Rosalie and Robbie[IMG]
    44. Merlin's Mom, your Nancy is so pretty! I love her face! Actually, the Narsha outfit looks pretty good on her. It might be a little long, but I would have thought that was the fashion with Victorian clothing. From the picture, I really can't tell that that isn't a YOSD sized outfit. But, it's a very pretty dress. I love it! :aheartbea
      SteffiPuschel, sorry I can't help with your question, either. I haven't attempted hot glue on any of my tinies. I admit, the 5Star tinies are tightly strung, except for my old 5star Rex. I think he poses "okay" now that he's loosened up.
      Merlin's Mom, your triplets are so frickin' adorable! Look at all that pouty goodness! So cute!
      (But, I don't know, I'm not feeling the love for her wig. :huh?: I think she needs something "outrageously girly" to differentiate her from her twin brothers. What do you think?)
    45. Rabbit-moon I agree about Rosalie's wig - I hate to spend money on another one and hope it works, but I may have to. I have been looking at the Monique Sophie mohair wig that has cute curls- I may try that one and keep my fingers crossed that it works.
      I may try to get or make some lace tights to go with the Narsha dress and I have a pair of white boots so it may work for Hester yet :)
    46. Oh! Little white boots would looks so cute with that dress! *squee*
      I just bought a Monique wig with curls for my 5Star TongTong, a Charmaine in Ginger. Tons of curls! My TongTong is such a Tomboy. I'm hoping this wig will force her into wearing a dress! ;)
    47. Rabbit-moon you will have to post a picture of your TongTong in the Charmaine wig once it arrives - it sounds really cute.
    48. Oh, love your triplets, Merlin's Mom!! Ray makes a cute girl!!!
      My box arrived today, with the newer SD boy body (I think I like it) for my as-yet-unnamed Dark as well as the tan body for my second 'monster' head and my new Quintus (also not named yet).
      So here's my crew, just upgraded from a bowling team (5 players - and they're too short for basketball) to a netball team of 7.
      [IMG]
      Waiting on Jesse (boy) and Jadite (girl) in my next 5SD shipment to make it a baseball team. :lol:
      Their face-ups, clothing and wigs ALL need work, I know. :(
      • x 1
    49. Thank you Fairy Milliner. Congratulations on your crew - they look great and you have the two demons that really are rare - adorable! Looking forward to seeing you Jesse and Jadite - nice to know they are starting to ship.
    50. Merlin's Mom, I definitely will! It will be weird putting a dress on my TongTong. I got her in 2010, and in all that time she's always worn shorts. Somehow or other, she always seemed to veto a dress.
      Wow, Fairy Milliner, your "netball" team looks great! I love your little monsters! :aheartbea
      Congrats on your new Quintus!
      May I ask, did your Quintus come with horns? When I got my Quintus, there were no horns included.
    51. I know a number of you do your own face ups - is there a reason to seal the face with MSC prior to painting? I think I can do a face up without the MSC if I can seal it with liquidtex mate sealer after the face up is complete, but all the tutorials call for the face to be sealed prior to the face up and I was wondering what the reason was. Thank you for your help!
    52. YES! Always seal before starting.
      The big reasons to seal it before painting are these
      1. to prefent the head from staining. Face-up won't last, you will want to give it a new one someday. That is hard when the head is stained from the old one. Also a head with stains on them is hard to sell.
      2. the paint/ pastels will hold much better.
      But you can use other products than MSC - like the sealants that warhammer painters use. As long as it is mat, it will do. Your's is probably fine. If you are not sure, try it on the inside of a headcap and see a day later if your painting has stained through your sealant or not.
      And your health: DO NOT USE ANY SPRAY that is as much pure poison as MSC is without proper protection.<- like on this picture. Which means an airway protection mask used for sprays/ gasses. A simple cap won't do.
      Please go to your local hardware store (or where they sell stuf to fix cars) to get proper protection before you start spraying. I bought my mask for 35 euro.
      • x 1
    53. Purity Seal is easier to get in most countries i think. It is a little bit better. You need at least a layer on the bottom and one on top to safe the color. Some use a layer every step they make on a faceup.
      Spray outside with a masc. Sealer will seal also your sorrounding. I sealed once in my bathrom and sealed the floor tile also ^^
      Also it smeels really bad and is dangerous for your animals/ husband. It is carcinogenic so please invest the 40 bucks in a masc or if you only need 1 faceup you can ask someone for a commision.
      If you got a friend having an airbrush you can use this also with thinned matte acrylic varnish. I bought one and used it this weekend the first time and i really like it. much better then msc. No risc of clowdy flakes when it is humid outside.
    54. Thank you Cyador and SteffiPuschel - I figured there was a reason, but couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. I don't know that I have the courage to do a face up myself, but was considering ordering the Tong Tong that was in stock at DDE. I will have to consider longer.
    55. My Maggie is finished
      [IMG]
    56. Congrats SteffiPuschel! Your Maggie looks very cute.
      Merlin's Mom, I would love to attempt my own face-ups too, but I don't have any artistic ability and I know it would land up being a total mess. That's why I rarely ever buy a doll without a face-up. Commissioning a face-up isn't so bad; albeit a bit expensive depending on the face-up artist.
    57. She is beautiful. I love her sparkly blue eyes. You did a great job.
    58. Thank you two.
    59. SteffiPuschel, your Maggie's eyes are very pretty! And, so sparkly! What kind of eyes are those?
