5stardoll Supers

@Nyara thanks... apparently the body I got wasn't 5stardoll, unless it's much older AOD or older 5stardoll. The body style and shapes scream it. Looks like I am going to have to email 5stardoll to see if they can send me a picture of their older body. I know that one you showed me was body B while the current one is like the third in line.

 

Just dropping in to ask if anyone has any idea if the new 71cm male body is single jointed and if 5Stardoll take custom resin orders?

 

Usually their larger dolls are double jointed but it looks like it's is single and email them about custom resin color, they no longer offer it. All I know that they do normal yellow but you have to comment in the message box when ordering the doll. It wouldn't hurt to ask on both thing, they're great at communicating. ^_^

 

@Cloudsorano Thank you for your reply. I'll have to keep searching then! Unfortunately I really do need a custom resin job, but may have to resort to dyeing to get the body and colour I need. The single joints really are a deal breaker for me too, which this body appears to have. Oh well!

 

I got my 5StarDoll Dark unfortunately I received the wrong body, they sent me the 62cm body instead of the 71cm. Oddly enough though I really love the body he came on so I've decided to keep him as is. I'm really sorry that I will not be able to provide photos of the 71cm body though.

 

Well, that's quite the mistake... have you checked that the order was correct? I believe there is a price difference between the bodies, maybe you could ask for a partial refund? Or at least some form of compensation if it was their mistake?

 

TokyoLynn, you are probably better off with that 62cm body since it is double-jointed. Going by the pictures on the 5Star site, the 71cm body appears to be single-jointed.

What the heck, 5Star! Why would they go backward in the engineering on their newer 71cm body? Going from double-joints to single-joints makes no sense to me. (They did the same thing on their new 26cm bodies, and I hate the lack of poseability on that new body.)

Looks like the 62cm dolls (Eric, Kevin, Angelo, etc.) are no longer “sold out” on 5Star’d site. I noticed this morning that they’re all available for pre-order again. hehe I may be able to get an Eric after all

 

I have a Dark. This is Saraf, God of Primal Flame & Lord of Metallic Dragons. He's in the special request dark grey with the default face-up. He's also sporting a FL event arm that I metal leafed in gold & silver. I'm going to mod his regular arm to be similar as the mag hand of the FL drives me nuts and never stays on properly. Edenlei is a Geomancer of Saraf and his husband. Edenlei is a Unidoll UH-08 Elf.

So... resurrecting a thread... I put 2 of the new 70cm bodies on layaway. Has anyone bought one of those yet? The female has measurements similar to my Idealian female.

I just noticed the addresses to these dolls. They're under the Parts option of the drop-down menu but those URLs are confusing!

 

I ordered both of those bodies in May last year, both in Normal Skin. Mid-August they contacted me to let me know the bodies were ready but that if I wanted them in Normal Pink it would take time to make them. I didn't even know they were offering any other shade of normal skin since they only had the option for White or Normal, and now I see in their dropdown that they're offering Normal Pink. The bodies I received were too yellow (very similar to OnlyDoll Normal Yellow) but worked pretty well with the really really old mellowed heads that I got, although it probably would've been nice to have had that Normal Pink option at the beginning, just for comparison.

 

@satyrsmoon They used to offer a pretty wide range of colours, including NSY and NSP. At one point, they would also cast their other bodies in the colours they offered for Aiden5 and Jadeite, by special request. I love their NSP. That's what colour my Kevin is. I've had him well over two years and I'm really pleased with the way the resin has kept its colour, too.

I don't see the jointed hands listed on their Parts section any more. They also don't seem to have the other heads for Kevin and Eric any more (Eric human and Kevin elf used to be a thing). I may have to email them and ask about those, because I have something specific in mind, but I have no idea if it's even possible any more.

 

When I ordered my Dark, I emailed them for the dark grey grey resin, which wasn't listed on their site at the time but was available through special request (which they sent me for like $5). They sent me little tiles of all the colours (including the dark grey but not the red and green) so they might still do that if you ask for a resin sample to see what their colours are like.

 

That's great that it seemed like they're offering other options for resin colours. However, at the time I placed my order, the only ones that were in the dropdown were White and Normal, with no distinction that they even had two kinds of NS. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I didn't even know they had more resin options until they told me my order was ready wherein they then offered Normal Pink.

 

As of now, the drop down has white and normal pink. But I had a Tumnus head not long ago and their pink was pretty darned pink, so I am asking for white that I will blush with pink. I suppose if I asked, I may be able to get yellow NS, which I need for another doll.

Is their pink still really pink? Or maybe I could ask for a half pink? I think that they sent color tiles was really super cool of them!

@satyrsmoon Do you have pics of the heads on those bodies that I can see please?

Hello everyone! I might have missed this but does anyone know where to find the measurements for 5star dolls especially the 1/3 boy? Ive been looking to hybrid a dollmore lisa rubik head and its the best candidate Ive seen so far(the price is super nice too >u< ) and Im afraid they might not match if I proceed to buy the body without measuring.
Also if there's none, Im wondering if its possible to atleast have the measurement of the circumference of the neck and shoulder length? Thank you ; v ; //

Hi there, I hope this is ok but I just wanted to stop in and ask something. @satyrsmoon since you have the 71cm boy body, can I just ask, is he really single jointed in his arms like I keep thinking? I only ask because I thought he was, but one pic on the 5Star website is making me question what I'm seeing and believing. Also if you don't mind me asking, is the posing any good at all? I'm torn between this and another body so wanted to see how things stood before commiting to a purchase.

Oh and can I ask just anyone who is able to asnwer, is their current resin still french resin or whatever it's called with it's slightly transparent look. Turns out the body I'd been considering is far lighter than I'd thought and won't match the head I'm planning to get even a little bit, if photos are to be believed anyway. So now I'm stuck and considering this body instead.

 

The body are single jointed, meaning the elbows and knees are. 5Stardoll are no longer double jointed (all of their dolls). And it’s not French resin. Their normal pink skin is very light, closest comparison would be loongsoul normal pink.

I only had to ask because one of the pics confused me and I couldn't find any official pics of their resin for some reason except ones that looked like the partially transparent type resin so I wasn't sure if they still did that kind or opaque resin or what the colours looked like. I swear I searched things up, I just couldn't find anything. But thank you, I appreciate the response.

 

No problem and I don’t think they ever did French resin. Their dolls are relatively cheap and I have quiet few of their dolls from before the change and after. The newer colors are much better and nicer but I am not a fan of their joints, which is disappointing. If they do double jointed for the 70 cm body, I would’ve gone after it in a heartbeats. Almost all of my 5SD SD dolls have AOD bodies instead.

 

I don't know that it was exactly called french but it was never that solid colour I'm used to from most companies. I honestly get confused as to what it's all called. *fail* It's such a shame about their joints, because the more I look at them, the more I wish I could buy about a million of their bodies. And they have some cute heads too!

Is the joint thing new then? I only ask because I saw someone posting the 70 body on a youtube video in march of this year and the body they had definitely had double jointed arms. Weird. She never showed the legs so I couldn't see what they looked like, but the arms were for sure. I'm so confused now. lol But thank for the help, I'm still switching between this body and another one so I appreciate you taking the time to answer me I've been struggling to plan out this doll for too many years, I just want to buy him!

 

Previously, I said that it appeared, from the company photos of the 5Star 70cm body, that it was single-jointed, but I just watched this YouTube video reviewing the 5Star 70cm body, and it looks like the body does have double-jointing in the arms. There's a point in the video, at 9:00, where you can see the double-joint peanut in the elbow and he can touch his face. However, she mentions later that the legs are still single-jointed.

So, I stand corrected on the new 70cm boy body. The arms do appear to be doubled-jointed. Apologies for the confusion.

Hi all! Turns out barely after a month I received my superstar body! But anyways, anyone else received their doll or body strung really tight? It was really tight, and being a newbie I am, it took a lot of strength and energy to put my boy's head on!

 

It will loosen up after few month. A lot of other companies do string up the dolls real tight. My 5SD Elaine was so tight that she poses amazingly like minifees.

 

I had to call in back up with one of my Supers. I couldn't do it.

 

*LOL* YES! The boy especially is SUPER tightly strung and what a fight to get the head on! I love the look of it, though!

 

Omg yes, the aesthetics of it is perfect for my boy! But it was such a pain to put on For single jointed legs, I don't mind! It's a lot more detailed and pretty in person too!

 

I have a question, I have a 5stardoll Edmund head that I bought secondhand, i'm looking for a body for him. I have fallen in love with the aesthetics og the 70 cm boy body, but im wondering if he'll look super strange as the head is meant for the 62 cm body. The edmund head is 21 cm in circumference and the head that is meant for that body is 23,5 cm.
Would he look very tiny headed or would it be fine?

 

I don't have an Edmund but I have a head that might be a similar size and I can check for you. I think it will be small headed, but you might like the look. Worth a shot!

I am looking at hybrids for a Granado head in New Normal and was considering a Normal Pink male Superstar body because of the collarbone sculpting and broad shoulders. But I am concerned the neck may be too small.

Anyone here own the 71cm body and a Granado guy head who could take a fit photo for me?

Or, anyone own Granado New Normal and 5Stardoll Normal Pink?

I can. The New Normal Granado is quite yellow though and the 5Star pink is quite pink. You'd be better off doing new normal and white, which is very creamy.

 

OK, so colors first. The pink is the exact same color as 5Star pink. The yellowed head cap is from my Granado head. White body is creamy white 5Star body.

Yep I ordered the adult male body, and a cat to bump it up to qualify. I've requested chibi Hellboy but in the same blue colour as his pics on the site. It was tempting to get him in red but I wanted him as an OC and having him too Hellboyish would make it hard to see him as anything else. Besides, Abe was always my fave! Someone in the Doll Profiles has a chibi Hellboy and an Abe, they're awesome.

 

Perhaps my search skills are just really bad, but I couldn't find a single discussion thread for 5stardolls, so I thought I'd at least start one for the larger ones.

I'm interested in the 71cm body so if anyone has one, pictures and your thoughts on the body would be great.

I have the body that came with bright (I made a hybrid), which I think is the one you’re referring to. It’s not bad, and certainly good for the price, with a few issues... it’s very heavy. Very. Heavy. I think it’s just solidly cast, but if that’s a factor for you, beware. I think it’s between that and impldoll for my heaviest 70cm. Pose wise - he stands and poses pretty well for the price - well above mirodoll, by a mile. The other issue is the colour. 5star’s ‘normal pink’ is still far more yellow than any other company I’ve encountered. It doesn’t match any of my others at all (ringdoll, dollshe, iplehouse, dragondoll, migidoll, Modoll etc etc etc). Maybe a normal yellow in other companies would be closer. I’m also not a huge fan of certain parts of the sculpt (the chest looks a bit female to me...) but it is nice for bigger heads if you don’t want the bobble head!

 

@Fairy Milliner Thanks! I thought it was weird that there wasn't a thread considering 5Stardoll has been around for a while. I think the problem was that I was just searching for 5star and should have searched for 5stardoll as well. I forget that the board search function tends to be very exact unlike my one at work, where less will generally get you more results.

@Spuggey Interesting, because the normal pink looked very pink to me in pictures, where as normal yellow appeared quite light. Have you ever handled a Volks SD17? They tend to be pretty solid. Funny, you mention the chest because that's one of my favorite parts. I like well developed pectoral muscles. :P

I'm really excited to be buying a Super Star male body in the future but I've heard the 70cm clothes from places like ACBJD will not fit. I was wondering if anyone could suggest where I could find shirts and pants that could fit my future boy.

 

In regards to the 5stardoll Superstar Male body, in a lot of the pictures the forearms seem gigantic in proportion to most other male bjd's and I'm concerned that it will look odd or stubby in the arm department. If anyone owns one, can you tell me if the proportions look as off as they do in some of the pictures I've seen online? I know some cameras warp the pictures so perhaps that is just the issue and in person it would look more proportionate to the waist? they seem almost half the width of the waist where as most bjd's forearms seem to be more 1/3 to 1/4 of the width of the waist. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

 

They're rounded, almost kind of chunky, but I really love the look, personally. In person they don't look strange, just... plump-ish.

 

I was considering buying Super Star male body but I've heard it's difficult for them to fit into regular 70cm doll clothes from suppliers like taobao/AC/Etsy. I really like the body but I've already got two dolls with the same body that requires custom clothes and I don't want a third. I do have another body in mind but this one is both lovely and cheaper so I wanted to investigate.

 

Their shoulders are a bit broader than most slender 70cm guys but the lower half is standard enough. Here is a shot of an uncle sized shirt bought off ebay (mybayer, I think) and it IS tight hanks to those shoulders. The pants I did have custom made for 8 bucks I think, as I needed white. That seller now has the 5star measurements to make more, so a good one to go to if you need pants.
The 5star is also next to a few other dolls so you can see the differences. The red harnesses were bought from the same person who made the pants. The boots are Angellstudios.


Bodies are Miro buff 68cm, 5star Super, Impldoll muscle Starwoman, old Granado 64cm.
