2D Dolls

I am freaking out about the discontinuation!!!! I only JUST got a Kiwi head and was slowly adding anime girls to my collection and now 2D is discontinuing all the dolls I wanted to buy! Arg!!!! And I have no monies!

I'm getting in on the pre-discontinuation sale too... I just ordered a Xiao Ai since she's been on my wishlist for a while and I don't see her on the secondhand market super often. I'd like to have a Kiwi head one day too, but hopefully I can buy her secondhand at some point! '^'

Edit: Miu too?! Oh man I would have loved to make her into a cute kitty girl. What is it with my fave less popular companies disappearing all of a sudden? Same thing happened to Doll-Love and now they're impossible to find. Some of the sculpts I'm not sure if anyone in the U.S. even owns let alone would ever sell. Darn.

 

well at least unlike doll love, it seem that 2d is just retiring some older sculpts and not entirely going out of business, it’s just too bad they are retiring their oldest initial anime ones I’m hoping I can sell one of my bjds in time to get enough funds for miu.

 

That's fair, I'm glad they're not going out of business at least. It does seem like a major style change though. It's a shame the anime ones are getting nixed, I always saw them as a nice resin alternative for vinyl anime dolls.

 

Finding out about the discontinuation is bittersweet... I love my Xiao Ai but the body makes me want to break my hands, and yet, I feel bad for selling it now that she's just left as a floating head. Maybe I'll order another girl to share a body with? I still have a fondness for Shaya after all these years...

 

Does 2D sell heads separately on request? I have a spare Pure White body and wasn't sure if other companies' resins match.

 

Alice's Collection does sell some of the heads separately, so you could maybe ask her if it's possible to buy the head you want separately?

How does Switch's powder beige match with 2D doll's normal pink?

 

I don't think it matches. I have 2D doll's normal pink and Switch rosy white and they match pretty decently, so I'm pretty sure 2D doll normal pink is too light to match Switch powder beige.

 

Do you know any affordable bodies that would match a Switch Powder Beige?

 

Maybe 2D doll normal yellow would match better Switch Powder beige? But I don’t own any of them, so I can’t say for sure.
I know that DFH and DFA offer resin matching services, so you may look into their bodies (I own both brands bodies and they’re nice). During sales, the prices are pretty affordable too.

 

Clover Singing also responds quickly to requests like this, so you could try with them as well.

 

Thanks for the advice everyone, but Alice's Collections told me that 2D does not sell heads separately (other than those already listed). That's a shame.

 

@SaltedPretzel Have you tried clover singing? Last I checked, 2d had heads separate on taobao and christina can do taobao orders, could be worth a shot

Switch's Powder Beige is pinker than 2D doll normal yellow, but if you're not too picky about it being an exact match, it could kind of work? I bought this 2D doll normal yellow body for a Switch Powder Beige head (can't remember what led me to think it would match...) At first, I felt like the colours didn't match at all but after a few weeks, it has kind of grown on me....???

(And it's good to know that 2D doll normal pink matches Switch's rosy white! It'll probably also match Ramcube's Peach White then as Switch's Rosy White is a perfect match to Ramcube's Peach White, and I've been looking for more body options for my Ramcube head and my Switch heads!)

Anyway, here's a pic in daylight, next to a window of Switch's Powder Beige and 2D Doll normal yellow.

Yup, Switch Rosy white and 2d doll n-pink match pretty decently! I wouldn't say they're a 100% match, but a solid 90%. I'm gonna make a picture once I have time and post it here for future reference of who needs it.

 

And then I ended up ordering a Kiwi, Colin and Miu from the discontinuation event...

I ordered from Legend Doll as they ended up being cheaper than Alice and Clover Singing even though I have to pay shipping.

 

Anybody with 64cm girl body please? Any information (photo incl) welcomed, if you are willing to share. I would like to know more about body sculpting details and poseability. I would like to hybrid EvaGreen head (Rainman) with body (or Mary by OwlsMoor). Eva is pinkier, Mary is with "yellow" undertone.

Has anyone seen comparisons of 2D's white (or pinkish white, if they make one?) to Switch's Rosy White resins?

 

2D doll pink is a decent match to Switch rosy white! I will post a picture later

 

I have a Switch Seolrok (Hiver) in rosy white on a "normal" pink 2D Doll body and the match is really close! I believe the head and body are from the same year as well (I got the head secondhand). The head is just the slightest bit pinker/lighter, but that's not really noticeable, and would be even less so with some slight faceup matching.

Thanks! I was asking for my friend who wound up with a 2D head in white, and a body cast in SNG/Switch Rosy White. We were curious, since the way her head is painted the color match isn't that far off, but you can definitely see the yellow undertones in 2D's white.

2D doesn't offer color match for head only orders. To share some of me and Astro's research for 2D's color during these two days incase somebody has the same questions as us.

* 2D beauty white: is yellow tone more close but not exactly the same as Volks white, not match SNG rose white but can cover by face-up to add some pink tone.
My doll: Head 2D Chuqing, beauty white (2021 a bit yellowed), body DFH cast SNG rose white (2022 brand new)


* 2D normal pink: I saw some comparison pix and found 2D normal pink can fit both SNG rose white and normal in those pictures, I think maybe 2D normal pink is in the middle of the two of SNG color.

* I asked the sculptor of 2D, who also shared her comparison pic on Weibo of Sweetgale peach white to 2D normal pink, also no big color difference. But when I asked for her color match opinion, she still suggested a 'White to White' match than a 'white to normal' considering of the batch difference. And I also think normal and white will go to a different yellowish direction, white base are more easy to cover the difference by face-up based on my previous experiences.

Does anyone own a Snow? I recently fell in love with the sculpt and would love to see more pictures but couldn’t find a single one on Instagram or on the forum so far

 

I'm waiting on a pair of jointed hands (68-70cm) I ordered in February I figured just hands shouldn't take as long as this does.. maybe? Does anybody have any comment on this? just wondering.

 

I have one here! 2D Normal Pink actually matches very well with Switch Rosy White, just a bit darker/more pink. I read elsewhere that their NS pink is close to Volks Dollfie Dream semi-white skin.

 

Does anyone have any of latest boy bodies from 2D doll? It's been a long time since they made their first (very difficult to handle and pose) 58cm girl body and I am curious if the posing has improved over the years or stayed about the same. I'm looking to hybrid and their bodies are looking very lovely with the right measurements!

 

I have a question about bodies as well. I'm in love with Miren, but at 68 cm, he's a little bigger than I think I could handle. Also in his promo pictures, his head looks a little small for his body. I notice his head is being sold separately on ACBJD. Would his head fit on a 45 cm body, also from 2D? And would it still look relatively in-scale, or would he end up looking like a bobblehead? I'm still pretty new to the bjd world, so any insight would be appreciated!

 

In general, 1/3 heads will not look in scale with 1/4 bodies and will end up looking bobbleheaded. Miren's head is 22 cm (around 8.6 inches) which is actually average sized for a 1/3 head. While 2D doll's 1/4 heads are around 16 cm (around 6.2 inches).

You could try looking for shorter 1/3 bodies if 68 cm is too big for you. There are plenty of 1/3 boy bodies on the lower end of 60 cm.

Edit: Actually, 2D doll has a 63 cm boy body that will probably fit him.

 

Thanks so much for the information and the link to the slightly smaller body! I'm still learning about the differences between scales. It's good to know there are other options out there. I went ahead and ordered just his head for now (no pun intended), and will take some time looking at different body options. Hopefully he won't be a disembodied head for too long!

 

I have two of the same new 68cm boy bodies. One is strung regularly and one is strung so tight I've damaged his joints just trying to change heads/hands/feet. I know I need to loosen him but am a little too anxious to take on the task, fearing more damage. Anyway, I'm somewhat new to the hobby and not sure what your benchmark is for pose-ability, but I find my well-strung body poses pretty well, has some good flexibility in poses, and has a nice strong, firm stand/sit. I'm not sure if he can stand on one foot or do fancy poses without support, but if he's lying or sitting he can look really nice and bend in good places.

 

@Nerwign Oh thanks! So you don't find the joints are "kicky" or snapping to certain positions or anything? My biggest importance with posing is just solid sit, stand, and some good wrist and decent elbow movement.

 

I can't seem to locate my first 2D 68cm Almond boy (where is he hiding??) but just picked up the second one (super super tight stringing) and his arms are great. Good shoulder movement & pose-holding, no snapping or kicking on shoulder, elbow or wrist. Honestly both his arms pose and hold pose really well. My 1st boy might be a little slumpy in the shoulder, I can't remember, but even if so it implies he'd do best with tighter elastic. His wrists seem marginally better than with some of my other big SD boys. I have 2D jointed hands on him so not sure if that makes a difference. Would probably be fantastic with a little wire in there, as the groove in the wrist is deeper than what he'll hold naturally.

So, I don't have the 64 cm female body, but I was looking at the pictures of it on ACBJD, and I emailed them to ask.
The body pictured is 2D Doll's white skin, and the head is the Jambo head, which ACBJD offers blank for $129. After I asked, they added heel feet ($25) and heel legs ($50) to their website. They also have optional hands for $25.
The neck diameter is listed as 9.5 cm, but Jambo's head is 10 cm, so looks like a 10 cm head would be a good match.

 

Does anyone know if Soom Tan/Lunar Mate light tan matches with 2d doll's tanned skin?

 

I absolutely love a heap of 2D Doll sculpts.

Their aesthetic is perfect!

Yes - at least I know for sure Jambo does, because that's the head on ACBJD's promo image for the 64 cm girl body.

Hi everyone, I hope you are well. I have a question for anyone who knows. Does 2DDoll or DikaDoll offer color matching service? or do they have a default color similar to Soom normal? I have 2 heads in Soom normal color and I wanted to look for a 75cm body for them. Or If anyone knows of a company that sells a 75cm body (neck 13) that offers Soom Normal color, please let me know, thank you!

 

I don't believe they typically do, but DF-H does color match and has a 75cm body with a 13cm neck

2DDoll has a resin library. They updated their swatches in June 2023, I found this pic on their Weibo (source link).



The "Soom normal" colours are third row from the top. There seems to be two versions - "21soom普" (second from right) is Soom normal from 2021, and "Soom国王普“ (second from left) is a different shade of Soom normal from a specific doll. I think Soom resins are not consistently coloured, that's why there are two versions.
