I'm seconding Clover Singing as a trusted seller. I've purchased from them in the past. Minus directly ordering through Taobao, you can't beat the sales they offer on 2D Doll. I ordered 2 2D Dolls at the start of their latest sale along with some wigs/accessories, and I just got a package today with the wigs/accessories. They are one of the only dealers I've ever used that tends to automatically split orders and send out the faster arriving items without charging extra shipping. If you want something that isn't already listed on their site you can always contact them as they are happy to add stuff.

I don’t understand why some dolls have such a low price? I would love to buy Cream at such a discount, is this a true price?

 

They occasionally have sales of 35%-40% off the usual international list price for 2D Dolls. They just finished a sale a couple days back of 40%. It looks like Cream is still showing at the 40% off price. It may be they are running a sale on that specific sculpt at the moment or it is possible it is an accident as they just opened their new site and may still be working through some bugs. You can always contact them to double check. They usually respond pretty quickly. Even if it is a glitch, they may be willing to honor it at that price. If it is an accident you can always subscribe to their newsletter and keep an eye open for sales as they seem to have ones for 2D-Doll every few months.

 

Let me be real with you...I’ve noticed that Chinese doll companies tend to upcharge in their international market. Cream, in their official Taobao, sells for 2698 RMB, converted, is $382. So they can probably give significant discounts without it eating into their profits. Chinese dolls tend to be cheaper... provided you buy off Taobao.

But what’s good about dealers is that shipping is probably going to be cheaper.

 

Yeah, I wound up getting Cream's head only off of their Taobao and with fees it worked out to something like $95? (CNY->USD estimation on their taobao is something like $77 for the head alone) I think it'll be around $110-120 when all is said and done and the head is shipped to me. If you can order directly from Taobao it's going to be way cheaper than a dealer or a shopping service. I think using a shopping service, with fees + domestic shipping + intl shipping + paypal fees is probably going to even out to what you'd pay from a dealer? It's just that all the additional charges are rolled into the base price of the doll.
I just went the Taobao/shopping service route since I didn't want the full doll and hadn't seen the head offered alone otherwise.

In my experience this has been more or less standard throughout a lot of doll companies. I'm not sure if it's the same these days, but way back when, Korean-made dolls also used to be cheaper on their respective brand's Korean site. It makes sense, since they're not paying for extra overhead to have someone to manage sales in another language. Personally I'd rather be able to pay the doll companies themselves the little bit extra that you pay dealers/shopping services and just order directly, but in sometimes that's not an option

 

@Astro My country has economic dealings with China so I can pretty much straight up just buy stuff on Taobao with my bank account. And since I live in Asia, my shipping is pretty cheap. I’ve only used a shopping service for the secondhand market.

(And my currency is pretty weak. Buying anything in USD would kill my wallet. The Taobao route it is.)

I think going the dealer route would be better if you want customization with your order. (I think you could probably ask like, Legenddoll if they can give you just the head?)

Korean doll companies (like Luts and Soom) currently price their doll pretty similarly to the international market. With the caveat being that they’re much more expensive than the Chinese bjds.

 

Clover Singing will also list the heads separately, you only need to ask. When they have their 40% sales on 2D Doll, it is comparable to going through a Taobao shopping service so it ends up way cheaper than the usual international rates while you still get the benefits of using a seller that specializes in selling BJDs and is thus familiar with the issues and wait times that occur with these sort of purchases.

Now I know! >w< I already had an open Taobao order so it wasn't a big deal to just add it in, at least. Thankfully I'm very much at the tail end of my doll purchasing career and hopefully this won't happen again in the future, lol.

@LaCantarella I remember waaaay back when (like 10+ years) stores like Luts and Customhouse had a noticeable difference in price between their KR and EN sites. I think these days it's probably more even, and everything's just gone up in price. From what I remember, Volks USA vs Volks International/JP has always been about even, the difference is just whether you pay sales tax and what the exchange rate. Even though I live in the US, it's still way more money for me to buy through Volks USA because our exchange rate with Japan is currently pretty good (for us) and I'm also in the same state as Volks USA, so I get to pay sales tax too. I usually end up ordering through there anyway, the new Volks international site is kind of a disaster. Honestly anymore I think I am more about how convenient something is to order from? If I'd known about Jeeryama/CloverSinging (I only knew about Legend and AliceCollections) I probably would've gone through them instead since it's one less loop to jump through.

That's really convenient that you can order off of Taobao easily! I'd be in so much danger if I didn't have to go through a shopping service.

 

Popping in here because I wanted to ask if anyone owned the sculpt 'Light'? I really want to see a view of the whole doll body that comes with him, and also just plain owner photos, and see if he's right for a character I'd like to shell.

If I am remembering correctly, he only came out a couple months ago so it is probably still a bit early for owner photos to show up. I've seen a couple people post on getting the larger boys so hopefully someone can chime in about the different body options for the larger boys.

 

Does anyone know if the 68cm body's hands have s-hooks? I'd like to get a pair of jointed hands during the sale on clover singing along with Light, but I'm not confident I could restring him entirely.

 

Just pulled out my Almonds hands and they're S hooks. Fair warning though, 2D Dolls are very tightly strung XD

Hi everyone!! First time posting to this thread!!

I'd been looking into getting an anime-style doll for a little bit, and I thought I might like Dollfie Dream or a Mini Dollfie Dream, but that all changed when I saw Kiwi!! I've been thinking about 2D Doll's offerings anyway because they have a ton of sculpts I like, so I decided to treat myself and bought 3 at once! It doesn't hurt that my birthday is coming up, which is my justification for this indecent splurging, haha.

I ordered a Kiwi [paper white skin on a 41cm male body], a Jambo [normal yellow skin, 68cm body] and a Light [normal pink skin, 68cm body] from Clover-Singing. I can't resist a good sale, and, as other people on this thread have mentioned, 40% off for an international dealer is pretty close to what an order from TaoBao might cost, without having to go through a shipping proxy that might not understand BJD culture. [Side note: 2D Doll's TaoBao shop and LegendDoll both say that Kiwi can have a male body, so I emailed Christina to ask her to put that option on Clover-Singing's site. She responded within 7 hours that she had done so! Clover-Singing has such polite and prompt customer service.]

While I did receive confirmation from PayPal that the money was sent, my order's status on Clover-Singing's website says it's unconfirmed and unpaid? I guess they have to update it manually once they receive the funds (though when PayPal returned me to the site it said that there had been an error)? I'll check back on it in a bit.

One last thing that is a bit funny: So, I noticed that a lot of 2D's boy sculpts are named after food. At least, their English names are commonly food-themed. Their Chinese names are often different. Anyway, I wonder how they go about choosing the English ones, because Jambo is quite close to the French word "jambon." If this was deliberate, 2D essentially christened one of their boys as "Ham."

 

@DayofDiana the same error happened to me when I placed an order for Light a week or so ago! I was a bit concerned because it was the biggest purchase I'd made for a doll so far (I also got him a wig and jointed hands), so I emailed Christina with my order number and she updated it right away. I'd suggest sending her an email if it doesn't update on its own for a bit, just to be safe.

How long does it usually takes for 2D dolls to arrive? I mean does the pandamic affect the manufacturing?

 

The estimate when I ordered my Cream head was I think 1-3 months, and it took somewhere in the middle of that? Probably on the 2.5-3 month side of things.
He's been sitting at my shopping service for a while now though since I haven't been home to be able to receive a package I've forgotten the exact amount of time but it was definitely no longer than that initial estimate.

Shipping from China via EMS to my location (west coast of USA) was still pretty good as of about a month ago, but it might be worse now because if the issues the USA is having with how the postal service is managed. I imagine shipping is more normal if you're in most other countries, provided your country is still accepting international packages.

I ordered from Clover Singing and have been waiting since mid-June! Christine wrote to me that most likely he will arrive in October. For three months it is not realistic, I think. before the pandemic, I waited for my Sweet Pepper for about 4 months.

 

I ordered a 1/3 doll with a company face-up on April 30th, 2020 and he arrived August 24, 2020, and that was with COVID in full swing. That was with EMS shipping. 4 months with a face-up with everything going on isn't bad at all in my opinion. Sounds like under more normal circumstances it is closer to 3 months.

I actually ordered my baby Cream on June 17th and he arrived just yesterday on September 17th. So it took exactly 3 months. I ordered him trought Alice collections and he was shipped with fedex.
I ordered him on the 73cm body and he´s extra extra huge. But he poses really nicely and even if his head looks a little bit smol on the body I think that it looks really good.

@Rozmarin - What resin colour did you get? How easily visible are his teeth?

 

I got the Normal Yellow. It´s a gorgeous resin color I have to say. And if you mean the vampire teeth from the promo pictures - they were painted on so you can´t really see them. But if you mean teeth like teeth then when I look really close it looks like there is something small that could be teeth in his mouth but I don´t think that it is.

 

@Rozmarin - Thank you. So his mouth isnt open that much? Or can you tell that it is definitely open? I really like this sculpt seeing your blank photos but I don't like open mouths.

 

I would say that it looks like he has his lips slightly ajar. But only slightly.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here has ordered one of their boys with a faceup, and if so, how long did it take for it to ship? I ordered Light through cloversinging back in early June, so I'm curious how much longer the wait will be.

 

I ordered a girl with a faceup may 22nd and got her september 29th if that helps? I also ordered through clover singing.

 

Thanks, that does help to know! (I'd mostly seen people talking about the male sculpts recently, so I phrased my question with that in mind.) Hopefully I'll get news that my boy will be shipping soon. Although I did also order jointed hands and a wig, so they could maybe be holding things up slightly as well.

He's currently sitting on a SD13 body from an unknown year. The resin match is decent and I think the proportions are pretty much perfect, but the neck is too big and I ultimately desire better poseability. At least I know that he's a perfect fit for the size class I wanted him on! I'm waiting for his new wig and smaller eyes to arrive. These are 14mm/7mm iris, but I think he'll look better with 14mm/5mm iris.

 

Hello! I'm considering getting the 28 cm body for a head I have but I would like to know--how well does their pink reson match to DZs pink? (or any of the tones for that matter) If any of you happen to know? Thanks so much in advance, guys. I've tried googling and forum searching, but resin match googling is such a slog, so I always ask as well as do my research, too.

When I received my 2D doll Miren in 2020 I was really surprised at how light the pink skin tone was. It was my first doll from that company, so I didn't have a comparison. It matched well with Kanadoll and Little Rebel. Here's a comparison with other 2020 resins:

Hey all! I recently got a 2D doll 68cm boy body in a trade, but he was shipped unstrung and I have no idea how he's supposed to be strung back together @_@ please help! I cant find any guides online!

I'm hopping the thread since I just bought a Ferris head! I now have to think about a body, any suggestions on which bodies would fit her? She's advertised as a 64cm girl head. I just found the resin comparisons up here, so I have an idea of which color she'll come (she's in normal pink). I like the 2D body but for now it's too out of budget for me, so I will just consider an alternative for her.

 

@Rurimas Do you have a max budget? Knowing that might help people give you better suggestions.

 

Something on the 200usd range more or less? I know there isn’t much at that price, but even if it’s a little higher I can wait for sales so the price gets more in my range (I usually do that, I am patient ), or I can just hunt the used market and see if something I wanted pops up.​

 

@Rurimas Clover singing put out a newsletter for 40% off 2D doll for next month, it’d still be a bit out of the 200 price range, but it’d be close, I think
Unsure on fit but resinsoul’s girl body is really nice and under 200$ And they do color matching
