2D Dolls

The eyes are awful. I hate to say it but there's no way around it, they are quite literally the dullest doll eyes I have ever seen in person. Mumu's eye design is great and I am going to try to polish them up but I don't have high hopes at all. They look okay from a distance but if you're close enough to see the cute little hearts you can't help but notice how dead they look.

No regrets though! They were not terribly expensive, the faces are really cute and the bodies are a great design and pose well enough after sueding. I'd still recommend them to a friend but would definitely want them to know what to expect.

 

@Gorst ah that's a shame about the eyes, thanks for letting me know though. Your Mumu is just so cute, I wanna pinch those lil cheeks so much!

Sorry to hear about the eyes, @Gorst ! My Xiao Ai didn't come with the greatest resin eyes, but they were shiny and not dull. Looks like you got unlucky there

 

Haven't been here for very long either! It's nice to see some owner pictures been posted

I don't even know when the day will come when I get my first anime style doll. It's just that I feel I need to work on my old BJD wish list.

If I do manage to squeeze in an anime style BJD order in between other orders I think a Luts TDF Simba will have to be my first one. That's the only sculpt I have known since it's release and that I'm certain I one day will order!

But I also like 2D Doll Tiny Miki very much. I wonder if it is possible to request dark face-up for a Goth baby doll character?

I should post an updated picture, I polished my Mumu's eyes using some stuff for taking scratches out of helmet faceshields and they look much better than my earlier pic. I love the design and they look good enough now that she can keep them!

 

You can try use baby oil soak the eyes, but it's not work every time.

@AmberRM Thank you for the tip about the eyes!

I owe it to my Mumu to post an update. I used Plaskolite to polish her eyes and they are very nice and bright now. They still don't have the depth that the baby oil trick seems to bring out so I think I'll try that too.

In the meantime here she is looking gorgeous (and bit nervous) with bright beautiful eyes in a Volks champagne party dress!

And here's my 2D Nicole from the 42cm line. There's nothing wrong with her neck, she could sit up straight if she wasn't trying so hard to look like a "Monogatari" character.

No idea what the outfit is here, got it second hand. I think it's from DollHeart but I don't know what it's called aside from steampunk-something.

Yes, both of my 2D dolls have their fullset default faceups. Very simple, as anime style faces tend to be, but very nicely done!

 

How was the posing for 2d doll 1st version 58cm body? Do they pose well?

Posing for the body is pretty fidgety, in my opinion. I have a hard time getting her to keep her arms/legs in certain positions without the limbs snapping into the easiest pose, but since I kipped all of my girl's joints they are much more manageable.

It's also been two years since I've had my Xiao Ai, and I'm so happy with how far she's come with me ^_^ Here's some pics I took of her on her birthday~

I use 18g copper wire to wire pretty much all of my dolls, for improved posing. It totally eliminates "pterodactyl arms" and snappiness

Hello people,

Do you think the 2DDoll body could work with Volks heads? on neck size, proportions and resin color? I'm totally in love with the body, but I'm not fond with anime faces, and I bought a SD10 head recently and would love to get one of these curvy bodies for her.

I'm not too picky about the resin color, I guess Normal Yellow is the best option, from the pictures I´ve seen so far, I'm more worried about thickness of the neck.

 

@Ashbet Thank you! I always wanted to try wiring my dolls, but I'm so lazy it's a miracle if I even restring them XD

I'm not sure about matching @Aquarina , you'll have to do some extreme digging for that, but I do assume Normal Yellow would be the closest match for a Volks. I think the size would be pretty good for an SD10 head, as 2D dolls are built smaller. There might be some gapping since I think SD10s have thick chubby necks, but that shouldn't matter too much. (Sorry, I don't have a Super Dollfie >_<)

I found their official site but it's not in english. I was wondering, what other (english) places can I buy their dolls? I know Alice's Collections have some of the dolls. They used to have all of the 2D Dolls listed, but they have sadly now taken down a lot of them!

The official site have this 68cm guy. 岚 Lan-2ddoll. If I oneday decide to go for it and order some of these dolls, I'd like to have both boys and girls.

 

@manabusama the reason Alice’s removed the dolls is because they are discontinued by the company. I ordered one of the yosd dolls I’d been wanting because of the winter event, but when Alice tried to order from 2D, they said it was discontinued and she removed quite a few from her website. I have heard of people ordering through their Chinese website with a shopping service. Other than that, I have no idea.

 

I still see all of the dolls on the website though. 2ddoll. But I can't read korean, so I have no idea what the site says. I think I might have klicked the "do not translate" button too many times so my computer won't translate right now

Currently I'm just dropping by the 2D Doll threads on DOA to check out the pictures and the discussions. Stalk the threads a little Since I started in the BJD hobby I've been into realistic, semi realistic, and stylized non-anime dolls. But I've been tempted for a long time to get one of these dolls, but I don't know if I should start collecting a whole new type of BJDs when I do not have the biggest space to keep dolls.

But if I won the lottery I'd order Meng Meng right away! I'm really itching to get one of these dolls, but at the same time some of the dolls on my wish list does not give me any chance to order anything just yet. I just hope that Meng Meng won't be discontinued anytime soon. I want a SD anime styled girl with a big open smile! I really like the smily mouths

 

I'm curious about this too, because the markup between the Chinese site (and their taobao) and Alice's is enormous... over 170 dollars for the ver 1 body I'm after. I know there are extra fees associated with shopping services but I don't think it would come to quite that much. I don't begrudge Alice her cut exactly, because it is a business after all, and I know that often companies set the price for the foreign market higher than domestic anyway... but that's a HUGE price difference and I could do a lot of hobby spending with an extra $170.

Has anyone in this thread had luck ordering from 2D with a shopping service? I could have sworn someone posted about it but I can't seem to find the post now.

 

Gah!! I didn't know they were discontinuing some dolls! Now I'm super happy I got Chanchu when I had the chance!! I'm just glad most of the big girls survived the cut!

 

Most BJD companies have to discontinue sculpts from time to time to make room for new sculpts. But I hope 2D Doll will keep releasing awesome sculpts with a big selection of various facial expressions, and facial features like they have done so far. What I like about 2D Doll is the wide selection of face sculpts they have.

Many anime BJDs tend to look kind of the same. Almost always big eyes, and small closed mouths with hardly any lips at all. That's where 2D Doll stands out! Or maybe it is just that I have not yet seen many other anime BJDs?!

 

I decided to put Meng Meng on my wish list. Just hope she won't be sold out before I get to order her. I really love that sculpt!

He have in this time 3 phases...in the last one i modded him to fit the character i have finally in mind for him...So this is Artemis (yes he is a boy, but i have only girl outfits right now, but his clothes are purchased and will come...one day XDD)

@StillsEve , It's amazing the difference a few subtle changes can make. Artemis looks great on the DC body, and the sharp teeth only showing from certain angles is a great touch!

I ordered it on taobao through an intermediary, head costs 5,500 yuan. Yes, I liked Almond first, but as soon as I saw Jambo, I could not resist I like that it’s very similar to Almond, but its mouth is slightly open

I will definitely show him as soon as he arrives! I was told that the head will be cast for about a month. I ordered it on October 25th.

 

Aww, that is super what I hoped for: the domestic cost of the doll versus the international price. International pricing is so much more! I also look forward to potential hybrids. I am not sure how keen I am with the way that body and head look together.

Hello! Today I received Jumbo's head at the post office. He is in a white skinton. The color is so creamy, I really liked it. This skinton is very similar to white Loongsoul, about 98-99%. My Nani in white skintone. But I ordered the white body 66cm Akagidoll, and it too should arrive soon. Then I'll show it all

Eyes acrylic, it seems you can change the printed pupils. they are some kind of anime. Very crookedly set

Hey peoples! I just discovered Almond and am planning to sell some dolls (that I was gonna sell anyway, but I was being lazy about it) in order to hopefully purchase him, and so I was wondering when he was actually released if anyone knows? I couldn't find a release date when I fluffed around online, and if anyone had any owner photos if he's been out long enough for people to have received him.

 

I think they were released maybe October-ish of last year? I know there are owner photos out there; I'd hunt some down, but I'm on my phone did you search DoA to see if there was an announcement about the new heads? I think that's how I first found out about them

 

@Xila Hey! I did have a look at announcements, these was one for Cream in the tanned skin and a couple of others, though none for Almond or most of the other 68cm heads. I'll try harder to see if I can find some owner photos especially of Almond!

Because he’s so beautiful, that I can’t sleep at night. It will be very tiring to wait for him.

I don't have a 2Doll (yet...), but I've been really impressed with all the cute boy sculpts they've been releasing lately. I'm kind of hoping to get a Scone someday! Not sure if I like the bodies as much as the heads, though.

 

Oh, this thread actually has a bit of life in it unlike the 2D tiny thread. I ended up ordering one of their yosds a few days back. Noticed there was also no waitlist thread for the company so I guess it will be a surprise on what their current wait times are like. XP

Interesting to see the company has sold others in this thread just the head. In the past I inquired on trying to get a head and was turned down (even though I was also at the time planning to buy a full doll with another one of their head sculpts). Not sure if it was because it was a tiny or they have since decided to allow head only sales.

 

I think you can get just the heads if you order through their Taobao shop. Their domestic prices are also significantly cheaper than what you can get through an international dealer.
Ugh, more cute faces. I think I am going to just going to go through with my future plans of buying just heads and displaying them on bust stands with these guys.

Alicecollection has some heads listed so looks like dealers are a possibility too.

I was debating trying Taobao, but since I was ordering from a bunch of other companies too with my order, decided I rather just go with a dealer since I rather save a simpler order for my first Taobao excursion. Really wish 2D still offered some of the cute gesture hands they at one point carried on their Taobao store. I would have bought a bunch of the sets.

 

Ugh, Sweet Pepper is adorable. I adore whoever is sculpting these. They remind me of Sio2 heads in both the style and how poor they are making me.
