2D Anime-Style Cuties

Yay! I'm glad someone started a thread for these cuties. I love the full sets, the outfits are adorable. I hope someone will post owner pics! If I was made of money I'd definitely pick up a bunch of 2D dolls!

Are the MSD sized 2D dolls fairly new? I can't seem to find any owner pictures about them? I'd love to see a comparison with a MNF or other MSD.... I'm in love with Nicole, but I just shelled out money for a MNF body.

 

The MSDs haven't been out for a long time, and they just aren't very popular dolls! So there aren't many pics of them on the boards. I'm guessing that they are a fairly standard size, thicker all around than the MNF which are very slender.

If I buy one *fingerscrossed* I'll post some comparison pics! I really want to take advantage of this event!

I'm interested in these cuties too. I would really like a Colin and Claudia. I would love to see some pictures of the dolls but I can't seem to find them anywhere

 

I searched flickr but only found a few shots of what I think are the SD size girls. I haven't seen any of the MSD or Yo size. I don't think 2D has really taken off. Not like SQ Lab...

 

I second the praise for Colin. My latest BJD family plans involved a meager 3 members, 2 MSDs, a boy and a girl and an SD boy, but he's SO VERY tempting. I do wonder where I could get eyes similar to the ones he's wearing, though.

 

There is a "where to buy anime eyes" thread in the buying questions part of this forum. So I think you could get those eyes. He might also come with eyes like the ones pictured. I don't know.

ALSO I wanted to mention that Jeeryama on ebay has the 2D dolls for less than Alice's Collections, but they aren't offering the summer deal of getting a 2y cm doll with a 1/3 or 1/4 doll purchase.

 

I am waiting for the Colin I ordered during the event. I can post size comparison photos when he arrives in a month or two. :3

Attlebridge & Self - Doll Review - 2D Doll

 

I got one 1/3& three 1/4&one 1/6 this summer event.
They pose not yery well, but I really like the body curve. Actually, I was ordered to body.
But I'll keep 1/3&1/4 heads, they are face up now at a artist's home.

Here is a photo of my 2D Doll "Colin" wearing 18mm Parabox eyes with oval irises.
I like the oval irises with his eye shape. :3

 

Thanks for posting more pictures!!! I still want Chanchu very much. I like her happy face. And I'm on the fence about one of the little dolls but I might try one of them.

I'd love to see more pictures of the dolls with face-ups! It's hard to find owner pics! So please keep them coming!

They're so cute! I love the faceups, AmberRM! Those knee joints look a little odd though; do those offer more movement?

The 1/4 SY-body posed is so-so.
The elbow joints are short, the hands couldn't touch face.
The thigh joints are "I" not "L", so SY-doby couldn't make the knees close together when sat down. maybe joint part can be resolved.

the head & chest are easy thrown back, I use "JOINT FIX PARTS" & "Hot Melt". But I love their curves.....

Oh, I see. Thanks for getting back to me on that; I'm really interested in how different brands of bjds are constructed! I didn't even know that they made "L" shaped thigh joints. Awesome!

I sold off my 2D dolls Maki and got a Chanchu! I'm sending her off for a face-up and I'll be able to post pictures soon! I love her happy face!

FINALLY! I uploaded my pics to Flickr. So this is mu Chanchu! I love her happy face! I think 2D Dolls pose great! My girl stands really well and can do a lot of cute poses. I don't like that her huge neck slot! She is looking up almost all the time and it's visible. But I'm rally pleased and would love to get more!

I found adding a silicone disc to the neck joint helped stop this problem for me.

 

Thanks for the tip! I have been thinking of sueding her neck. But over all, I'm super happy with her!

 

The 1/6 Danta head looks huge - has anyone tried to hybrid one onto a taller body (male or female, any brand)? =)

 

I have a Danta!
The head is the same size as the 1/4 size 2D Dolls, but you would probably need to modify the neck opening to be larger in order to fit the head on a larger body, as the neck is the same size as most 1/6 or Yo-SD size dolls.

I just got my Nicole today! She's so cute!

I took a lot of blank photos of her sculpt and a couple body comparisons for reference. Over here on Tumblr.

 

I really like narrow irises with Colin's eye shape. I had trouble finding 16mm anime eyes with an oval iris I liked, so I made a custom design for him. >.>

 

Those eyes are really cool! How did you make them?

 

@Chehime Thanks! I used acrylic DIY bases, made my own iris design in Photoshop, and printed the design on pearlescent paper.

Reviving this thread to say-Clover Singing has huge discounts on 2D dolls right now. I put in an order for CaiCai

I hope more people start to look into these cuties, since anime sculpts are becoming more popular.

 

Just ordered LengLeng and Bunny, I'm so excited!

On layaway, though. Have you used Clover's layaway before? This is a first for me and I'm wondering how much my initial payment should be. Couldn't pass up the sale price even though I was planning to get these cuties later in the year.

 

@Veravey I used their layaway a looong time ago, at the time, she would create a custom listing for you on the site for each payment. I am not sure how it is done now, but Christina, their rep, is super nice and she speaks great english so you could always email her and ask.

 

I just got another 2D Doll, and I noticed the NS Pink was way less pink (and paler) than previous years. I did confirm with 2D that my doll was cast in NS-Pink. I'm not sure if I got a really inconsistent batch, or if the colors have changed recently?
Does anyone else have Pink from these years to compare to mine?

Oh wow that is a big shift. I'm afraid I don't have any in NS-Pink to compare with you. I do think I saw some people mentioning getting some of the larger sculpts in NS-Pink recently so might be worth it to pop in that thread to see if anyone can compare with you.

On a side note, as I know you also have the 2D tinies, have you ever tried one of their 1/4 heads on the 1/6 size body? I've always been curious how the neck gaping would be with that hybrid. I really adore the chibi ratio of the 1/4 size anime heads on the smaller body but it seems like these days when 2D Doll does release an anime sculpt for their smaller dolls, the head is more in line with the typical 1/6 size.

 

My 28cm Danta head fits the 1/4 SY girl body ok, but it's a little too small to fit the neck of the 1/4 boy body without modification.

 

It's actually the reverse I'm interested in. Sorry if I was a little unclear. I like how proportionally the larger heads look on the 28cm body as it really gives a more chibi feel. The older 28cm head sculpts are 1/4 size so I was curious how their girl/boy heads designed for their 1/4 size dolls fit on the smaller neck. In recent years, it seems like most of the newer 28cm head sculpts that 2D Doll has released, are sized more like your standard 1/6 size heads.

 

You'd need to mod the head to have a much smaller socket.
I only have the older 28cm dolls.
