Sorry if it's a bit too early for this, but I didn't see a thread like this for 2024 yet and I wanted to write my own thoughts down somewhere. (Please let me know if this thread already exists and I'm accidentally duplicating!) My current goals are pretty modest: - Sell at least one doll; possibly more (I'm currently reorganizing my collection to replace some of my dolls that were impulse purchases with ones that have been on my wishlist for a long time) - Speaking of wishlist, bring home Luts Senior65 Delf Camel or possibly TheVoice NiuNiu if preorders open up again or if he shows up for sale secondhand; - I have a Dollzone Leon with a really cute faceup who I like very much, but I haven't done anything at all with him since I got him, so I want to get him a wig and outfits and take pictures of him this year! I tend to not be too strict about sticking to my goals exactly, but those are my ideas, and I'd be happy to hear anyone else's plans if they also want to write them down.
Save up for DollZone Snow Try to make one prop for Little Snow with my 3D Printer. Buy one seasonal/alt outfit for Little Snow (Halloween, Pajamas, Christmas Sweater, etc) Take pictures of her ❤️ I'm a first time doll owner and so excited, but trying to pace myself with little goals. I cannot wait to meet her.
Doll Goals in no particular order of importance or promise of getting anything done on them. - Custom head for my Bimong doll - Custom head for my Huajing doll when I buy him and he gets here. (in progress) - Faceups & wigs for both of them. - Set of clothes for the Huajing boy. Project Thread Here - Pants for everyone else. Possibly even shirts as well. - Finish Jarrad & Dorea's faceups like I should have done last year. - Finish the copper silk robe for elf Jude like I also should have done last year. - Better photography setup & take more photos with the actual proper fancy camera rather than my phone. - Figure out what I want to do with Lan and my Bimong Chuu head and do it. - More armour & shoe making, that was fun and I really enjoyed it. Need ear protection though. - BJD Horse. Also proper safety precautions for that.
These are things I wish I will get done but might not finish completely - Faceups for everyone - 1 complete set for everyone (outfit, shoes, wig, accesories) - Bodies for my floating heads.. ehem... 9 - Learn how to sew and make wigs - Possibly organize my collection and see if there are any I could rehome
My doll goals are customizing related: Youpla Saddie - I have big plans to do historical (late 1700s France) dress and hair with realistic looking photos Puyoodoll Baby Kumako and off topic 3D printed anime style doll head on Huajing body 1/6 - Jibaku Shounen cosplay as Nene and Hanako Jacoosun Noise Rou 3 - Lady of the Lake / English/Irish Fairy style customization DoDollsDream Teacup Lottie - Marie Antoinette inspired wardrobe and hair. I am also building a french 1700s diorama with fancy DIY furniture for her. The side goal is no more doll related purchases. I can buy fabric/materials, but everything else must be hand made
Ah man... I have so many. I bought way too many supplies for projects this year and I'd like to get those done within the next year so lets see... -lots and lots of sewing Finishing the now 2 bunny suits for Naran Sewing historic undergarments...also for Naran (and hopefully another..) Completing Drossel's outfit (hat, coat, pants, socks, that silly street organ thing which I'm HOPING to be able to stuff a music box into to make it functional, shirt modifications) Shorts that actually fit Kaede (he wears volks clothes but he's not as chunky as a volks msd) -finishing the diorama Settling on a wall design and then painting it Crafting a fireplace windows...doors...furniture..etc -ordering a doll from maskcat and then all the sewing and coordinating a face-up that entails. during the winter event ( I missed it last year and the year before we are nOT MISSING IT THIS TIME!!!!) There's probably more, I'm too ambitious for my own good.
- Take more photos of my dolls & try to improve with that - Commission someone to do a faceup for my El - Practice wig making, face-ups, and sewing- and if I no longer want to, pass along my supplies to someone else
After the horrible mistake of promising and failing not to buy more dolls this year... I have prepared some more sane doll goals for 2024: organize my doll and crafting stashes. maybe not perfection... just a little less chaos keep a diary of the things I make for my dolls sew a pair of bottoms and puppy ears for my incoming Huajing boy complete 2 school uniforms in progress: crochet cardigans, and sew pleated skirts, bows, socks get one or more doll stands for those who don't have them decide on a new image for my Guard Love girl try to boil reshape my AS elf ears to fit better make some doll profiles get a DDP body for my floating head make at least one accessory (any kind) for each doll
For me, I think these are my resolutions: Get stands for all of my dolls, if possible. Commission someone to redo the faceup for the floating head I have. Complete a base look/appearance (wig, eyes, clothes) for my 1/4 dolls. Practice faceups so that I can get better at them. Try not to buy anymore dolls! Maybe one or two heads can be allowed, but I'd like to cap off my collection.
Joining the 'in no particular order' crowd: -finish Arrow's faceup and body work -strip Aurum's faceup and body work and decide if I want to try to dye her or not -medieval fantasy outfits for both of them, and for Clover -keep practicing working with leather for boots/armor/accessories -make doll profiles for both here and my own site -find a better solution for having backdrops and floor pieces on easily on hand that doesn't lead to fold lines/wrinkles -make more accessories -work on some kind of interior set/backdrop/roombox/whatever you want to call it
Do not buy any more dolls (until i have more storage space for them) Sew more things for dolls than I buy work my way through at least 1 of the 5 gallon tubs of fabric Get stands for dolls Find a body for my E-an Redo faceups for my romantic dillui and qianhedoll blind box Finish E-an's faceup
Maybe posting my goals publicly will help me stick to them...? Get faceups for the rest of my blank dolls done by an artist. Avoid purchasing dolls unless under a time restriction, or they are on my 'unobtainable grail' list and show up secondhand by some miracle. Fix the elastic channel in my Iplehouse Akando's thigh and get him put back together. Sewing. I have specific outfit plans that I should probably act upon, because I have non-standard sized dolls. I should probably empty my UFO box, too. It would expand my dolls' wardrobes greatly. Rework my fabric closet so that I can access and also put away things easily. Turn my spare room into a proper extension of my craft room, as well as a doll room. Catalog my collection, since I've invested a lot of money into it.
My 2024 doll plans: -Rehome 2 full dolls and 2 or 3 heads, as I’m going a different direction in my collecting - get bodies for two of my MSDs - get faceups for 3 of my MSDs - save for/ ultimately buy display cabinet for my dolls to live in -enjoy dolls I have -if finances allows it, I’d like to attend a doll con I have one more doll that I probably won’t be able to get to next year but plans could change.
*sigh* I didn't get very far with my goals for this year, so my major goal for next year (early next year hopefully) is to finish customizing the two dolls I've been working on (finishing some mods, faceups, outfits). My next one is to figure out a doll for my dnd character and her friend, which is a little :/ because i sort of impulsively started a layaway for a doll head but it's bigger than I was planning on going for my dnd dolls, and I'm not entirely sure it will work for her. So I guess I'll have to put any planning for that on hold for several months until the head gets here to decide I hope i can get the doll I've been trying to sell sold this year, and if I decide the head won't work for my character, sell that too.
Weed out my "to buy" bookmarks list Get more eyes and wigs in a variety of sizes/colors so I can try different things in new dolls Avoid buying any 1/3 or larger dolls (unless Dokkebi Garion in a tan resin is offered) Sell at least two SD dolls Get Cyprian his face up finally, for goodness' sake! Not in any particular order, but that's what I'd like to do over the course of the next year.
In general my husband and I agreed to make 2024 a “low buy” year. Any new doll or accessory has to come from the sale of a doll. As for specifics I only want to collect fairy themed bjds and maybe a Fairyland fullset if the colors fit my collection. I also plan to sell off a few dolls and items. I want to downsize my collection to my absolute favorites. And I have list of sewing and knitting projects for the dolls that don’t have to get done next year, but I’ll set the goal to work on them! Edited to add specifics: • Finish sewing and knitting Mori girl outfits • Sew Swan Lake themed ballet costume • Create knitting patterns • Hybrid DC Lydia on different body • Faceups for Realpuki Roro and Huajing Doll Violetta • Sew fairy themed outfit • Resist buying new dolls! • Sell everything I intend to.
I have a few goals, many of which are not related to actual doll plans. Restring and suede/kip my dolls. (Only some need restringing, but I want to suede/kip all of them.) Learn how to style wigs. Get proper paints for anime-style vinyl faceups. Sell some dolls/accessories as I'm running out of space and need to clean/reorganize my room. Then, as for my doll plans, there are three dolls on my list as well as two Volks MDD bodies for some heads I already own.
2024 goals: Get all my currents dolls completed before buying any more dolls! (Try to resist buying more dolls… I have no space and I need clothes more) Organise my current doll items better. Put up new shelving. Purchase more doll stands. Get some backdrops or something to allow me to do more full body doll photos. I wasn’t going to purchase any dolls last year… that didn’t go so well. 2024 I will stay strong. (Unless Huajing release something really cute )
I would like to finish all the artwork on the dolls (especially th faceups). I wish all my dolls had matching wigs, eyes, shoes and clothes. I would like to get the Soom Super Gem Sabik head. I would like to start working on 1/3 diorama. I would like to be able to photograph BJD wedding in the first half of May 2024.
Let's see. We've got: Minimize purchases of new dolls (I'm not gonna say no dolls at all. I know myself.) Touch up a couple damaged faceups in the crew when it's not 11F out Find a wig and do the faceup for the incoming doll when she gets here Decide whether I'm going to DollCon Dallas alone or a queer reader con with my mother! More doll sewing and knitting, especially for my odd-sized dolls More furniture for their cabinet. If I can find a loft bed that fits and doesn't have crap underneath it, perfect Maybe redo Ara's faceup? He's adorable but the bright red lips aren't my thing Spend time enjoying them! I've got all these lil stinkers for a reason
My BJD resolutions are these. 1. Customize the blindbox BJD's that I bought this year (ie. Dividing Line, Qian He) 2. Try to sell the dolls that I do not want anymore (already in process) 3. Work on skills in making clothes, wigs, dyeing, face-ups, painting (this works with resolution 1.) 4. Not buying new dolls
I always look forward to these threads every single year. Setting new goals for the upcoming year helps me to firm up priorities and stay on track…and I’ll refer back to this post every month, working and refining it throughout the year. It’s a great way for me to get things done. I had wonderful success with my 2023 list, so here we go again… 1. Despite my very good intentions to not buy anymore dolls, admittedly last year was an unmitigated disaster…but I am determined to do better in 2024! So here’s hoping I can stick to my no-buy plan! Nope! You guessed it…I didn’t even make it out of January! Ringdoll released a limited SD-sized Jade (who is an absolute dead-ringer for me as a teenager!) As a little ol’ lady who loves BJDs, how could I possibly resist such a sweet trip down memory lane? So yeah, add her to the layaway list! And only 3 days later Doll Chateau released a plant-based/horror MSD who is absolutely perfect for my Victorian plant conservatory display, so I added her to the layaway list as well! And finally I found my one last remaining character I’d been hunting years for in the form of a Dollzone anime cat, so he’s on the layaway list too. That makes 3 BJDs added for 2024, which is pretty much my normal yearly average…so yeah, this goal has officially gone up in smoke! (And now it’s gone up in smoke even more! I made it to October, but then Dream Valley released a limited ghost moth girl who is perfect for my Victorian attic display…that’s it! I’m officially throwing in the towel for this year’s no-buy plans!!!) 2. Pay off my final remaining layaway that rolls over from 2023 (for the shocking rerelease of Dollzone Moment that I absolutely couldn’t pass up.) (Done!) 3. Increase my subscription (Done!) and catch up on my doll profiles here on DoA. I’ve worked very hard on completing my crew and I want everyone to be properly represented. (5 new doll profiles uploaded...caught up for now.) 4. Faceups and artwork: a.) Do the artwork and faceup on my amazingly huge (120cm) lavender-skin mermaid, Dollzone Sawarieda (Jewell.) I’ve been happily admiring her blank sculpt for the past few months but it’s time to finally make her truly mine. This will be my biggest artistic endeavor of 2024. (The most I’ve been able to accomplish with this is to make definitive artistic decisions about theme, color and imagery. That’s something, but the rest is just going to have to wait until next year!) b.) Do the faceup on my Kaniboom Rabbit Bianca head (Button) once she arrives. (Done!) c.) Begin the artwork and faceup on my green skin Dollzone Moment (Mesquite) once his long layaway is paid off and he finally comes home. (Faceup and all artwork for the headpiece is now complete. I still need to do his body artwork, but that will have to wait until next year.) d.) Do the faceup on my tan Realfee Toki (Brambles) once she arrives. (Done!) 5. I love sewing and designing, so I’ll be taking part in the monthly sewing projects in the workshop area here on DoA as needed to achieve my sewing goals. I’ve spent many, many years working on my large crew’s basic wardrobes…and in 2023 I finally completed them for every single doll in my collection (with anywhere from 3-5 outfits each.) I promised myself that when that happened, I would finally slow down and henceforth focus only on making very special outfits for specific dolls and really taking my time with it. And now that I’m finally there, I have a few in mind: a.) Barrio Luminaria wants some fancy and fanciful suits in a 1980s “New Romantics” style (made from outrageous fabrics!) (One complete outfit finished! And a second complete outfit done as well. Barrio is now properly outfitted for this year at least.) b.) I want to make a full blown and very detailed “Country Lolita” outfit for Second-hand Rose (in a fun strawberry theme.) (This is now underway as my official Spring project.) A pair of ruffled bloomers and an elaborate underskirt completed 3 lace-trimmed coordinating blouses finished A heavily detailed overskirt and a pair of wrist cuffs completed (this outfit is now officially done!) c.) Once Mesquite finally arrives I will need to begin working on a specialized Toreador wardrobe. Pattern devised and one outfit completed. A second outfit completed as well. d.) Collect the special “Anne of Green Gables” collection of cotton fabrics to begin work on a quaint cottagecore mix-and-match wardrobe for Tatters. (Fabrics finally ordered and arrived!) And sewing for this wardrobe is now complete: 3 blouses and 3 culotte/skirts that can be mixed-and-matched in various ways. 6. My dear hubby rescued a wonderful vintage 1940s/50s doll trunk from the rubbish bins, and I want to work my magic on it. It will make a great display piece for one of my BJDs (plus extra storage for their clothing!) (Thoroughly refinished and reupholstered inside and out…a great success story!) 7. Turn my extra floating Luts BabyDelf Gabriel head into a fancy hat stand display. 8. Purchase any little necessities my dolls might need. Bought a new faux fur wig for Barrio Luminaria (and restyled it with an asymmetrical shaved-side look) Purchased a gorgeous deep red twin tail wig for my incoming Ringdoll Jade Bought a special new hat by my favorite hat maker on Etsy for Chinoiserie Rose
In theory, my goals are simple (not waiting til '24 to start on this, december is dangerous): 1. enjoy what I have so I 2. don't plunge into getting more resin* *Exceptions may be extra hands/feet/faceplates and maybe a very cheap restoration project.
My goals aren't that grand, but I still need to get them done Send out remaining heads for faceups (Lumi, Lanaya, Rozen, and Bonnie) Order custom colored body for Blodyn, my minifee Alicia, as I don't like the posing as much anymore. Order more clothes for Blodyn and Briar Rose Figure out styles for two of my dolls (MNF Lami and F65 Rozen) Buy elf ears for F65 Rozen Buy new wig for Lanaya Set up small diorama for Blodyn Organize and sort through clothes and wigs I'm hoping I won't be tempted by many new dolls, if anything, I might buy one or two. My plans are in Flux, but these are the important ones
I have binged on doll clothes, now I must purge Face-up for my blank doll and complete my OC Sell off/trade dolls I'd love more old Volks dolls! ...But they'd need to be a trade or bought with money from a sale.
I'd like to try "one doll in = one doll out", as buying no dolls at all is always a fail. I'd like to continue crafting wigs, outfits and accessoiries I'd like to find the time to paint at least one doll's tattoos (I did it in 2023, so that is reachable) bying less. Less outfits, less accessoiries, no wig at all, only the needed eyes...
Sell/Trade my DF-H 65cm body for a 62cm body, since it's just a touch too big for the head I put on it Sell my remaining extraneous dolls/bodies so I don't have to store/transport them anymore Buy a body for my Comibaby Misa head Practice/commission faceups for the rest of my crew Learn to sew some doll clothes I promised my husband that I would finish some of the dolls I've got before buying new ones, so most of my 2024 goals revolve around that.
Oh man, I have been very on the low regarding purchases and such the last years. Mostly because I am, more or less, pretty content with the crew and unwilling to add more hungry, demanding for stuff-dolls to the mix I also stopped trying to predict how things will go. For years I told myself "this time I will repaint them all!" or "no blank dolls anymore", and nothing happened on that front. Anyway, the "plans": - receive my LLT order (Lazuli, and Brilthor) - sell my old LLT Lazuli hybrid, and not actually keep it because "haha wouldn't it be funny to have twins? jk........unless" - try more aggressively to sell some more things, like heads I don't use anymore (I am just so lazy with it) - receive my Akhmel Tomoe - paint some dolls, the usual problem I still wish to finally find a doll for the MSD version of my Soom MD Afi, but it's so hard. His SD version now finally comes in with Brilthor after 10+ years of searching, but his MSD one is still a no show. I just have yet to see a doll I really click with
November UPDATE! I always give myself very small goals so I don't feel bad if I don't get to complete most of the list. For 2024, this is my to-do list: Take more pictures of my dolls to share! At least one a month. FAILED! Get some more in-character clothes for Lianda and the Doctor. Done! Decide what to do with the doll I don't enjoy anymore (changing character, selling...). Done! Sell the doll body I don't have a use for or make a new character for it. Done! Commit to the making of the diorama. FAILED!
Figure out what color of eyes I want for Migidoll Mu. Figure out what type of wig I want for Migidoll Ryu. Buy more dresses for Soom Mylo. And maybe get more outfits for Volks Cecile and Latidoll K, but that is much, much lower on the list than the first three. I'll of course keep an eye out for Volks Scarface Reisner too, but that's less of a goal and more of an "eventually".
I'm going to try the reverse psychology method of 2024 goals: buy all the secondhand dolls that you see that you can't resist because they are from your fav Doll Co's and are now too cheap to pass up ... ha ha ha don't practice faceups on the 15 that are currently blank, half of which have a base coat of sealant and are ready for you to start ... don't finish the dresses, pants, and socks that are currently half way sewn ... don't! under any circumstance buy any new display cabinets (I like to see all my stuff) so you can proudly show your acquisitions ... don't catalog all the secondhand dolls that came in in 2022 and 2023 ... hee hee hee
Ohh, I've got a lot of plans to muddle through... Sell the boy I have listed. Cuter clothes for Oliver- something mori themed or lots of lace. Better wig for Yu. Hunt down the outfit from the original SD Lieselotte release. When my FCS order arrives, determine if SD size is still too overwhelming for me as a collector. If so- sell the body. (The head sculpt I purchased in FCS already is planned to be on a Dear SD body I have.) Any doll purchases I make depends on that body from this point really- I'm happy with my other dolls and I've got a couple heads I like a lot that will probably be a pain to track down, so the true hunt begins after that confirmation. Who knows what I'll complete tho haha.
My top priority is finishing my current sewing projects so I can move on to the ones I've planned, but not started. Next is to continue not buying dolls.
My 2024 resolution is to just get all the dolls I have paid for already, lol I’ve ordered like 4 fully paid and am just in the waiting game. Other than that, a more real answer would probably be hope/pray a Soom Elf Zak would come out this year with a Vampire head available.
Oh I don't remember if I did this for 2023, but I'll put my thoughts out there and hope for the best! 1) Finish paying off layaway for Fairyland Nuia 2) Buy more stands for the dolls so they can all be on display in one place. 3) If they can't all fit, maybe decide some of them need new homes. 4) If they need new homes, take pictures and list them for sale. 5) Take pictures and list for sale the wigs/clothes you already put in a "sell" box. 6) Maybe finally go to a doll meet up? You're on how many groups/discord servers where you see them make plans for meetups? Too many! There has to be a weekend that works...in 2024. 7) Maybe find Soom Heliot a body? He's yellow but he still deserves a body...or a bust stand...something. 8) Maybe finally design an outfit and make it out of the fabric hoard? 9) Maybe get another body for the Luts event head? Yes, you said the 2 heads would share the body but the second head hasn't had a turn yet...maybe he needs a bust stand too to chill on.
I'm categorizing my goals in a few different ways bc I have a lot: Getting Full Dolls: Get a Luts Rain w/ a faceup bc he's on my for sure list Get another Impldoll Sicily w/ a custom faceup and a Supia doll ballerina body Getting Bodies: Get an impldoll model body for my Impldoll Mila Figure out a lanky 75cm boy body I like Face-ups: Get a faceup for my Lupin the Third head Consider doing raised scar mods for a lot of boys to be blushed Clothes: Sew Giselle’s dress Sew Albrecht pants Suffer through sewing ballet costumes Knit Harley a sweater Put in a big taobao order to get everyone something Put a big Alice order in too
Oh, hey, is it already that time of year again where I make plans I'll change by the end of January?? Projects (already ordered, just waiting) : -Gianna (Supia Naomi--faceup, blush, put together) -Romi (Iplehouse black cat--paint) -Bren's second head (Migidoll Siho --mod and faceup) -Razzle & Lola (Eve Studio cats--dye/paint, string) Buy: -New body for Bren -Twyla (Iplehouse FID Lahela, most likely) -Clothes for Gianna (and Twyla if I get her) Make: -Lumi's wedding outfit -Opaline's wings Sell: -Unsure. I really need to go through my doll stuff and sort things and see what, if anything, I can part with.
1. Sell the excess of dolls the ones that I don't want anymore and not going to use , and especially sell the majority of floating heads spare fantasy parts etc 2. Tidy up the shelves with bjd dolls 3. Tidy up and organise all their props shoes, wigs , eyes , clothes etc 4. Make, sew knit enough clothes for all of them 5. Get a camera and get more and better photos
Love this thread! Thank you for making it! Saaame..! I think I tend to turn to doll spending when I feel stressed and lonely, especially since I moved abroad to study. But! I need to remember how expensive it was to haul my, relatively modest, collection across the globe when I moved here, and how much worse it'll be to ship it back home, as shipping from Sweden seems to be more expensive than in Korea, and not add any more dolls!!! So! Goals are Facups that I'm happy with for all my dolls. So new faceups for everyone (again) Re-string all the MSDs New wigs for the whole crew Practice doll sewing Practice eye making Maybe learn some photography?
1: Clear my wig drawer. Far too many in many sizes I don't own anymore 2: Shoes. 3: Catch up on faceups. 4: Bodies (I have two rolling heads arriving) 5: Keep sewing stuff 6: Try to keep active in the hobby at a slow pace. 7: Make more pictures 8: Deepen my characters. Perhaps write a little story outline. 9: Trying to sell what I don't use/need anymore
carry on impulse buying wigs and shoes. I can never have too many. (I will actually make a proper list of goals closer to New Years, but it is likely to include this )
I’m pretty new to the hobby, but already have big plans… - Payoff layaway for Baphomet - Buy the head I’m eagerly waiting for BirdCube to put up for sale - Buy body for aforementioned head - Customize these two and my Berial/Jing hybrid I recently got. (Faceups, clothes, eyes, wigs, accessories, etc.) - Going with the above, teach myself how to sew doll clothes. - Build dioramas for my boys - Save up any remaining pennies for the dream custom body I have in mind for Jing’s floating head. - Resist the temptation to buy anything not on this list…
Nothing too ambitious or spectacular planned for me. Keep working on my dolls warderobes. My dolls are mostly well provided for, but there are a few blind spots in their warderobes. Make a serious attempt to get more into shoe making. I have a few hard to fit dolls. More photos. That's a wish, not a promise, I know myself. If not finish, then at least make some progress on my Maracreatures Ramunder. He is such an amazing doll, he deserves better than sitting alone and half dressed on a shelf. I have plenty of plans for him and no dead line, so it's a long term project. I want to give myself plenty of time to enjoy the process. But I don't want it to stand still. That's it, I think.
My 2024 BJD Goals are: In terms of new dolls- I'm currently waiting on: Miracle Doll LanQi (Finally shipped! Arrived on 12/24/24) Dollzone The Hanged Man Dream Valley Freyja head and muscular body in red (Canceled) Not buy more than 2 new dolls (I'm running out of space!) (Bought a 3rd in June, oops) (and a 4th in August, oops again) Dream Valley Lucia Dragon Rider in tan (ordered February 1, arrived September 26) Fairyland Puki Puki Flora in BW (ordered March 9, arrived July 5) Creatures Dolls Absinthe (arrived June 14) Fairyland Dreaming Dark Elf Soo tan (head arrived August 16, body arrived August 29) To-do plans Sell the 2-3 dolls I've decided to let go of (Sold 1 in August!) Sew more clothes Finished 8 mature tiny outfits/garments in January, Shabby Chic MSD outfit in February, YoSD Steampunk outfit in March, Mori MSD outfit in April, tiny outfit in May Do face-ups on at least some of my many blank dolls (re-did Leon's) Restring the mature tinies that have gotten floppy (restrung 4) Work on my artist cast Cirque de Fantomes Nekomata Post more Doll Profiles on DoA Work on finishing the dollhouse I have in progress for my Real Pukis Get suitable wigs and eyes for incoming new dolls Maybe re-organize and/or upgrade clothes storage Make or find more chairs for my gang (Found a plant stand wicker chair that fits the taller MSDs)
Once more, I am focusing on completing my collection, doing more doll crafting and doing more doll photography. It went really well for me this year and I believe I've been getting better and better at achieving my goals/plans these past few years. I'm interested in seeing how I improve next year! Late December 2024 edit: I was too hopeful lol. This year was crazy busy for me, though, so I'm not surprised not much happened. Bolded purple text is how I fared at my goals. (In no particular order) Re-string Pandora and Prudie. Nope Finish/sort out the dolls who still need the the right eyes (Pandora, Prudie, Jiffy, Penny) I know who's getting what - but between school, new job and postal strike, no decisions were made/commited to. Take more pictures - I actually did really good this year up until June, and then I was super sporadic in the last half - majority of these will be with the 2ndhand dslr I got back in June. Overestimated my ability to take photos this year lolol. I'm going to change up my goal for the new year. Start up the database for all my doll info and then start the process of adding my collection to my homeowner's insurance/adding additional personal item insurance to my dolls. I totally forgot this was a plan. But on the plus side, I enjoy creating pivot tables now, so this will be a fun activity in the future. Finish organizing my wigs, clothes, shoes, eyes and accessories. I actually did this! Go me! Celebrate/acknowledge my first BJD's arrival (2024 is 10 years!) Again, totally missed this. October was a busy month. Actually make my dolls things from all the materials I have lying around. Of course I didn't! Send Pips out for a faceup (will this be the year? Who knows?!) To be fair, I wasn't really expecting to get this done. Order Prim towards the end of 2024, OR get all my ducks in a row to order Prim sometime in 2025 (fun fact: currently Prim is my last fully planned out doll! I do have inklings and vague ideas for other potential dolls, but nothing as concrete as Prim!) I did get Prim!
I don't usually have any set goals for any of my hobbies, it's not something I enjoy doing -- setting goals, seems like a chore and I like to keep my hobbies as things I enjoy. I took a huge break from working on completing the ones I was planning on modifying or repainting (years off! If not decades!). However, I hope that I can finally work on most of them in the new year (or begin before this year ends! I sincerely hope so, more than anything!). I am a procrastinator and having zero desire to purchase more additive mod materials (mostly epoxy clays), kind of keeps me from committing to working on some of my larger dolls. I did purchase one (last) BJD last year, and I still have full plans to continue working on him until I am happy. Although, I am also tempted to mod him a bit, I probably won't since he's tiny and I suck at the larger mods on bigger dolls' faces, I don't want to hate myself if I ruin a tiny doll that'll be a royal pain in the lower back to fix. However, I can still repaint him to my heart's content, and also attempt sewing, making even more wigs and hopefully shoes for him! I want to get the spark to work on my larger dolls, even if I don't want to purchase more clay that' will only go bad in its container for not using any substantial amount of it. I hate wastefulness. T___T;;; I will regardless, still be able to repaint a bunch of my larger dolls I've neglected for years, and maybe even sew a few crappy pieces of clothing for a few of them as well. Even if I can't do additive mods on some, due to my lack of desire to be a wasteful a-hole. (:
I’ve been in this hobbie since 2015 on and off. But I am getting back into it now. I just got a secondhand Luts summer event head with glass resin eyes and face-up done. I have a wig on the way for her! My big 2024 goal is to hopefully get her a body she’s a 1/4 MSD. ♥️ If I’m unable to do this I am wanting to get a few more heads either with face-up already done or get some without and look into some artists in the UK to do face-up for my dolls. ♥️
Last year I totally didn't follow my plan. Hoping this year goes better. This is definitely the year of "no more floating heads?" for me. (Note: already failed this..... sigh) Faceups for: Chloe, Bailu Bailu, Chloe - done! Bodies for: Chloe, Bailu Done for this year To sell: Done for this year! Sold: Sisca, Hanlu head, Aquarius body, Lydia head, Jupiter head, Saeryun head, Drayton, Lonnie, DFH body, Ah In head, Hannah, Melanie head Hand blushing: Nothing achieved, maybe next year? Dolls coming (not supposed to have happened, but I was weak!) Myou Reid Charm Doll Corne SD16 body for Chloe Sio2 Taolu
My goals are a bit 2024+ and not very serious, but: Get a faceup portfolio together and start offering faceups Order the two dolls for the FFXIV characters I want to do 3D resin printer make better youtube videos
I always get anxious setting goals, so here's a simple one that I can hope to achieve in 2024 - Acquire more cats! Any size, anthro or otherwise.
I would like to organize my doll clothes and accessories. I'm also going to buy an Asleep Eidelon DingDang to be my Mildred Hubble from the Worst Witch. And MAYBE some more anime dolls. I have at least 2 floating heads to deal with it.
I was out of the hobby for several years, but I'm finally in a place to buy things for my dolls again, and I have a few resolutions! • Order Snow's Delf body • Restring Feather • Order two wigs for Snow and one for Feather • Nine9Style order for Snow • Save up for F60 Moe Chloe for 2025 • Maybe order faceup supplies/paint Snow These are my main goals, as in 2024 I'll be moving and I've got a lot of stuff coming up, but I'm really excited for my doll plans! ♡
I have completed some of my last year's resolutions, and tracing it monthly actually did help me So, here I am again, this year: 1. sew, use up my fabric, beads, ribbons, lace and just enjoy the space (unless the then-made clothes will take over anyway lol) Not completed 2. Get down to wig making too Not completed 3. Cut down on the amount of things I have (including resin and some crafts/clothes/accessories I don't use) Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr: Nothing In fact, I have bought another BJD head May: SOLD a doll yay Jun: listed 2 heads and 1 full doll for sale The heads were to be sold anyway, but the doll was the first in the queue of the dolls I "potentially" considered needing to go. July: sold an off-topic doll, so it'll make space Dec - sold 1 doll head YAY 4. make DoA doll profiles finally now that the faceups are done Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr: Nothing May: Created 1 Not completed 5. Take out my dolls for photos more often Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr: YESSS May, Jun: nothing July: a very small but cute indoor photo session Aug: a very cute outdoor session then nothing, but maybe some minor 'selfie-like' pics of my dolls Other than this, reconsider (still) my Barbie collection - it's been literally collecting dust for the past year and a half... No hard limits on new resin as long as I keep the 1 IN = 1 OUT rule lol ETA: I added 2 new Barbies to my collection... so instead of shifting towards BJDs completely, it might seem like I did the opposite. However, I have plans to downsize there too. I'm so happy about how my BJD collection is starting to look: 2 realistics boy + girl couples and 1 unrealistic, beloved volks girl. And I want to keep it like that, because all of these dolls have specific personalities and styles and they're very developed (at least in my head).
I'm not sure I've ever made a yearly goal like this for myself but...it sounds like a great idea atm. Let's see if I can stick to it!! Main goal as it has been for a long time for me: FINISH DOLLS -Get bodies for floating heads (or sell floating heads) -Get wigs, eyes, clothes, shoes for everyone -Faceups!! I need to play some serious catchup on my own as well as many for my friends -Try additive modding! I have elves in need of ears for a start Other than that, I need to crack down on impulse buys so no more new dolls. No, not even that nicely priced Delf in the MP, or that beautiful Elfdoll, or....yeah. Stop. Avoid the MP at all costs. (the exceptions being a Volks Williams if i can sell enough to meet his secondhand price, or a Crobidoll Lance, because reasons) I'd also like to cull the horde a bit. I've started this just a bit by adopting out one of my girls. Clearing the floating head drawer is next on that list. lol
New faceup on lenwë, finish making his bits and bobs. (Boots cloak belts etc) figure out how to make him a circlet make him some lembas Paint my Hwayu head, make or buy fantasy style clothing, make horns. paint the two new pet dolls I have incoming reevaluate the fjx blind box doll and decide to keep or sell. Re dress my Xun and decide to keep or sell. save for DSD Frozen Anna
-Continue building out character-specific wardrobe for each of my dolls. I would love if they didn't have to share items at all and each had more specific individual styles. -Purchase shoes for my 1/3 dolls. They each have a pair but that's not enough, lol. -New wigs for my boys. -Save up for the Janchor Dolls BJD that I've been eye-ing for the last several months. -Sell the dolls I have in storage. -Put some more time into my diorama set up. Would love for it to be a bit more detailed.
