2021 DoA Anniversary?

I have, actually, asked mods about this at the beginning of August. They have decided not to have it this year, because of Covid, shortage of staff and etc.

As I have understood DoA anniversary is postponed for further notice. And there is a possibility, there might not be any next year too.

 

Aw! I haven't seen these yet.. but wondering what they consisted of? Maybe it's something that a few of us could pitch in and help to host, even if it's more limited than it's been in the past?

They have been a lot of fun.

 

I still have the pictures I took for the previous years dearly, I hope we will soon have another one. Maybe next year...

 

Sad to hear it will be another year without, I was only able to participate a couple of times but it was really fun to have even when not actively joining in the festivities. Hopefully it will come back in future years.

 

Ah, gosh. Now that I've looked through the link @Swampruler shared, I feel a bit bummed to have so far missed out on these as well!

I am sure that a big part of the fun was the prizes and stuff....

...But maybe just having some themed challenges might be sufficient?

Would people be okay with/open to just like, brainstorming a couple themed challenges to post with a deadline? I'd propose that there's no actual "winners" and it's just for fun and to foster excitement.


I'm inspired by some cool art contest I've participated in the past...
A couple I can think of off the top of my head include making things out of entirely "recycled" items, doing an art project using natural/perishable items, creating something entirely out of paper....
And then of course there are so many concepts out there that could make interesting themes as well.

But yeah. Just kind of thinking. Of course if people were interested we'd first of all have to ask the mods as well if they were okay with some "Anniversary Lite" prompts & where they'd be best posted....
