PNW BJD Expo, April 26-28, 2018 in Seattle, WA. The Expo has a very exciting theme in a very convenient new location! It was hard to leave the beautiful resort in Suquamish, but construction is under way so we chose to find a location closer to travel hubs. The DoubleTree Hotel at the Seattle Airport was perfect.

Here is a peek at what’s exciting at the 2018 Expo:

Theme: Gatsby -the 1920's in the United States where a time of social changes, prohibition, silent movies, gangsters, speakeasies, jazz, airplanes, cars, and a modern kitchen that included a refrigerator. As amazing as these events were ... just think about architecture and the clothes! Let your imagination run wild and be sure to enter one of the contests! Visit the website often to see all of the new developments, attendee registration will open on September 1.

Con Doll - Nikki Britt will be producing a 10-12" doll for the show. Doll and ordering details are still hush, hush ... more to come!

Socials & Roundtable Discussions, daily. Adeline, will have a different doll topic for each day and Roundtable discussions will give you tips that you'll want to use

Salesroom - We've invited the best of the best. There is an early bird registration for dealers, Click here for the interactive form. We have confirmed that a professional photographer and a Doll Doctor will join us- a first for this show!

Panels - we are just getting these booked, but plan on Photography (taking good pictures, backdrops, smartphone pics) and BJD's the Beginning, where we'll connect the Japanese connection to the German connection and meet where BJD popularity began in the U.S.

Workshops - Still in the planning stage, but we will have a return of the pattern making class.

Contests - we've added 2 additional contests this year: doll duo's and doll props.

      PRIZES, Swap meet-up and more

    2. Will there be an absentee option to order Nikki Britts doll?

    3. Yes, the absentee information will be available this coming weekend.

    18. I just saw a post by Nikki on her new 12" Phoebe:

For those of you not aware or confused about 12” Phoebe. She will be offered as a show doll by PNW doll convention. I will not be handling any part of the sales process, please contact Dorothy Drake if you have any questions regarding her sale. The link to the website where you can order her is https://www.pnwbjdexpo.com . 12” Phoebe will be an identical miniature version of 18” Phoebe (pictured below), she is still in the process of being cast into resin and reproduced so photos of the actual doll are yet to come. Orders will officially close January 9th so don’t miss her!!

    24. Thank you for posting this!

    25. We're really excited to attend this year's event, and I just got off my behind and took care of pre-registration. :sweat I did have one quick question: For the Volks Meet & Greet, I'm assuming that the standard "Volks dolls only" guideline applies? My cohort for the event doesn't have any Volks dolls.

    26. Well yes it will the event will be to celebrate Volks dolls. You will even have a chance to have your (and your doll) picture taken with the General Manager. BUT I do not feel that just Volks doll owners should attend - everyone is welcome to attend and learn more. We will limit doll attendance to Volks

    27. That's what I assumed, and what I planned on telling my cohort for the event. She hasn't been to any Volks events before, so she's not familiar with their guidelines. Thank you for confirming so quickly, I'll pass the word along! :)

    28. Hey, everyone who's planning to attend the Expo, here's a bit of fun PNW BJD history for you! While poking around the website for the event, I saw this on the contests page, under the information on the Diorama contest:
It turns out that the Uncanny Dreams dioramas (in addition to being a cool name) actually have a beautiful and beloved history in our BJD community here in the Pacific Northwest. The Uncanny Dreams events were a series of curated shows featuring dioramas and customized dolls made by artists from around the region. Each show had a title, but the artists were encouraged to interpret that title in whatever way they wished. The shows ran only very briefly - from 2011 to 2013 - and were held in Seattle. However, they were brought back in recent years through the Diorama Contests presented by Jpop Dolls at the PNW BJD Expo!

The first Uncanny Dream, in 2011, was titled "Articulated Fantasy."
The second Uncanny Dream, in 2012, was titled "Into the Labyrinth."
The third Uncanny Dream, in 2013, was titled "Circus of Mysteries."

And that was it for the Uncanny Dreams shows, until Jpop Dolls and the PNW BJD Expo teamed up to bring them back! I'm really excited to see what the great artists in our community bring to the table this year. The dioramas have always been one of my favorite parts of any doll event I attend. I love that PNW BJD Expo has found a place for them.

I hope that bit of background information (and all those wonderful photos) really spur on everyone's creativity, and I look forward to seeing what everybody comes up with! Myself, I'm thinking really hard about what I might make!

    29. [IMG] Just got this from Volks - and am told that they are working on a very special Meet and Greet as well as a trip down memory lane in the Friday panel. 36. I spent a fun weekend at the Puyallup WA show and meet a lot of BJD folks. One fan got so excited, she wanted to remind you that there is still time to sign up for the whole event or for single day tickets.[IMG]

    37. Contests are a fun part of any convention! At PNW, there are plenty of categories to choose from and even one that does not require you attending or dropping of your entry. That would be the Photo Contest ... loosely themed Gatsby! You can enter from anywhere in the world by March 31. Not only are there cash prizes, but winning photos will be enlarged and posted at the event AND featured in the May issue of the STAND magazine. Send your photo to [email protected] To enter the other contests you don't have to attend, but you do need to drop-off and pick-up - click here for details http://dolls4all.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Contests-1.png[IMG]

Yesterday was the first day that we had an actual photograph ... this amazing little cutie will be available exclusively at Connie's booth April 27 & 28. If you have a full registration or one of the single day tickets (available through April 18)- you can reserve your Eloise. After that you can still attend - salesroom-only tickets will be available at the door.

Hello! I am planning to attend on Saturday only. I haven't preregistered because, last I checked, preregistration was only for full-weekend tickets. In previous years I have just purchased my one-day tickets at the door. It that still possible for regular one-day tickets? I don't want the showroom-only ticket.

    44. Hi - yes we have single day tickets. Saturday is $30.00 and yes you can purchase at the door. If you also want a ticket to the Volks meet and greet, let me know

    45. [IMG]TangtangWithBeadRosette by EmpressDeborah, on Flickr

Little Tangtang has been helping prep for the Bead Rosette workshop at PNW BJD Expo this week! The workshop is a make & take format, with parts for you to assemble to create a vintage bead and silk accessory that can be worn by doll (or human ;) ) in hair or on costume. The finished piece is just under 2 inches across. There will also be demo of the techniques and practice if you wish!
