Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit:
When cyber punk, Goth, and Raver all come together on one DJ
Doll company, body type & head sculpt:
Resinsoul Tang head on a Souldoll NLK boy body
      Method and Materials Used:
I used socks: fuzzy socks, tights, knee high socks, and normal old... well, socks. His shirt is the control top portion of the tights which I stamped and hand painted. His pants were made from the rest of the tights, and I had quite a bit left over so I might make him some more. His arm warmers, leg warmers, and ear phones were made with the fuzzy socks (my favorites that had missing mates *cries*) and his vest was made from two pairs of my favorite knee highs which I haven't had the occasion to wear in some time. I used additional items for the headphones: sculpey for the ear pieces with buttons and jewelry wire and cording. I added the heart button details to his vest which were actually brads from scrapbooking. I did not make his boots! Those are not socks and he is ironically not wearing socks either. The only other thing I used was standard polyester thread from gutterman. Oh! His collar and his hair pieces were little bits that I stabilized with silver bells.

    2. Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit: A entirely black outfit with lace, silver and gold accents that includes a long, puffy-sleeved and frilly one-piece dress with a pair of matching tights and a beret.

Doll company, body type & head sculpt: Luts, Kid Delf body GIRL type, Aru

      Method and Materials Used:
For the methods, I used machine-stitching for the tights and the longest seams on the dress, which includes the side seams, the shoulders, and the collar. Although it is not visible in pictures, I also topstitched the side seams and the shoulders with a machine to make them lay flat on the doll. The rest of the outfit and all the decorations were hand-sewn. I only drafted a pattern for the base body of the dress; everything else was free-handed.

For the materials, I wanted to only use what I already owned and recycle as much as I could. I don't wear very feminine fashion or dark colors anymore, which is why I ended up only using black frilly socks to create this outfit. The buttons came from an old child-sized coat from which I stole the originals. I added a few pearls in from of my outfit to create doll-sized buttons. The dress closes in the back with plastic snaps.

I used long, black knee-socks to create the base of the dress. I used the frills from those socks to create the lacy layers on the bottom of the dress. I used the first pair of ankle socks to create the puffy sleeves. I used the frills from another pair of ankle socks to create the collar and the extra frills on the sleeves; then I used what was remaining of those socks to sew a bib on the front of the dress and a bow. I made a pair of doll-sized lace tights from a black pair of tights. The base of the beret was made using a single flat sock, which I covered with fabric from the pair of tights to match the bottom of the outfit. Having the ensemble look balanced with all the different lace textures was quite challenging.

Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit: This boy just returned home from an ordinary day of hanging out with some friends and this is what he wore.

Doll company, body type & head sculpt: Peakswoods, FOC Dandy Body, Knox

Method and Materials Used: I found socks at the 99 cent store and washed them so they would slightly lose their elasticity. I made some new patterns just to fit him. I cut out the pattern in the socks and then I sewed everything by hand.

    5. Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit:
Basic dress for a goth that's gotta look good

Doll company, body type & head sculpt:
Fairyland, Minifee Shushu, A-line body (large bust, cutie legs)

      Method and Materials Used:
Fishnets, glitzy sock liners, and plain black socks (collage shows many unused socks)
I tried to both combine sewing (where the top and bottom of the dress come together, and the back of the shirt part) and using the nature of the sock fabric (as seen with the little under bust mermaid-tail styled roll, and bracelet made of rolling sock fabric). Mostly machine stitched, however the fishnet was handstitched to the top of the dress.

      Yes!

Was this outfit made specifically for DoA's 14th Anniversary?
      Yes!

Are you competing for the prize, or are you competing just for fun?
Both -- I'm smitten with the Qing Lang sculpt, but I did this contest specifically because I thought it was a great way to get over my fear of posting things on the forum. (I'm usually kind of shy about posting anything I make for my doll.) Also, I thought it would be a great encouragement to learn how to work with some fabrics I'd never tried before, like nylon! I learned so much!!

Have you read the 2018 anniversary and prize eligibility rules and do you agree to follow them? Yes!

Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit:
Simple yet stylish cranberry red sheath dress with cozy accessories, ready for cool weather!
Doll company, body type & head sculpt:
Elfdoll Soah on Granado 62cm (Viejo) body.
      Method and Materials Used:
Three wool blend knee socks (two cranberry red and one charcoal gray), one black fishnet trouser sock, and a zipper. The knee socks conveniently had crocheted rosettes to use for embellishment. I drafted a sheath pattern with off-the-shoulder raglan sleeves, plus hat, hose and legwarmers. I assembled with a regular sewing machine and a serger.

    10. Single sentence description of your fabulously basic sock outfit: Not-so-little Black Dress (one-piece Dress) with Root-Socks

Doll company, body type & head sculpt: Bimong Narae (slim MSD), single-jointed body, N408 head

Method and Materials Used: Handsewn. Made without pattern, I just went with what seemed to work out (sort of :-)). I used basic nylon socks only, plus a few tiny beads. The cords I have made from strips of the socks.
The base is a folded nylon knee-sock (15 denier) from which one side was made into a double-layered top with no side-seams, while the other half was split into one layer onto which the skirt was sewn, and a layer that became the underwear under it. 15 denier is see-through but when it is doubled it is opaque. This means that the torso part of the top and the top part of the skirt are opaque, because of the underwear layer under it, while the rest of the skirt and the sleeves are transparent (but not overly so, both because the fabric is crinkled and because it has a subtle shine to it). The socks add another layer of opaque, they are very stretchy and can be worn low or all the way up covering the entire leg.
