I know how that goes. XD One year I signed up to send wigs and eyes to newbies with 1/3-scale dolls, since I had a ton of 8-9 wigs and 16-18mm eyes left over from kitting out my own crew. I ended up paired with a gal who was waiting for one of those hyper-realistic manly-man guys with a head and eyes smaller than a Minifee. I had to scramble a bit that year, and I still doubted she could use anything I sent. I have yet to hear from either of my newbies this year, though both boxes were delivered this morning,That's not too unusual, though. People get distracted and forget to say "Yep. The box made it here in one piece."
Both my newbies got my packages & liked them - one of them actually has ordered a doll that I have which was great So I knew what I sent would fit!
Where do I mention that I am very sick but that I am going to still mail mine out, it might be a little late? I just have to have a day where I am well enough to go out again.. Soon I promise!!
I have two boxes headed overseas so it will be a while before I will know if they arrived. I can only hope the things I sent fit in size and/or style. Get well soon @Rosslyn.
I mailed mine off to Australia this morning. I prepared my Newbie that I've never owned a slim mini but hope she can use what I gave her... worse case scenario I told her now she has some bargaining chips to swap, trade or sell. Hoping she'll enjoy it!
My oldie revealed themself to me and asked me some questions about my dollies. I'm getting so excited!
Thank you! I will ship my stuff this week- it just depends on my energy and getting a ride. It wasn't going to, but i didn't plan to be sick this whole time... I will contact my Newbie to let them know, though!
I sent my box out today! I have never sent a package to another country before, so I feel quite bad for the poor guy who had to answer ALL of my many silly questions After seeing contents of other packages, I'm hoping mine will be enough.. I did my best though, so it should be good enough? Now to start stalking the package as it's being shipped across the world!
Oh my gosh, almost forgotten I had signed up for this as a newbie. I'm totally cool if my senior-bie (oldie sounds rude for me) contact me and become friends! I could use some pointers in taking care of dolls or even just chat with anything under the sun!
@Wolfie Pie Thank you so much for the package My doll isn't here yet for any kind of fashion show, but everything you sent is awesome. I will post pictures soon (once I take them and figure out how best to post them)
Welp. My second newbie has been on the site a couple of times since tracking indicated her box arrived, and hasn't said a word about actually getting it... So, I decided to be pushy and flat-out asked her if it did, indeed, make it in one piece. At this point it's not so much about rather or not she liked what I sent her. It's a matter of rather or not I need to have a talk with the PO about missing mail or a botched delivery. o_0 Just a bit of advice for anyone, new *or* old... when you're expecting a delivery don't keep your sender in suspense. CONFIRM THAT YOU RECIEVED IT when the package comes in, or that you didn't if tracking indicates it ought to be there and it isn't. That's not only basic courtesy, it's important to start the ball rolling relatively quickly if a package has been lost or dropped at the wrong address, or if something's been damaged in transit.
Huzzah! You're very welcome! I'm glad you liked the stuff I sent! I know your boy is en-route, so I just hope at least some of it will fit him when he arrives. I tried to go with the punk/goth description you gave. And I wasn't sure if you had eye plans, so I sent a range of sizes. It's ok if you don't use some/most/all of the stuff. Feel free to pass it on if it doesn't work for you.
A bit last minute, but the package is sent and the tracking seems to be working. Now begins the wait.
MY GIFT ARRIVED! I received three amazing shirts, a pair of pants, a ninja, a mini minion, an awesome pair of sneakers, and a GIANT bag of eyes! I excited took a lot of pictures and here they are! Spoiler: The outfits + eyes he's about to wear [/SPOILER] Spoiler: Outfit 1 Spoiler: Outfit 2 Sorry he's a little cross-eyed Spoiler: Bonus! I tried to take a picture but alas! It came out blurry. One can never catch a ninja! Thank you so so SO much to my old-bie, @aernath! I love absolutely EVERYTHING! I've tried on every pair of eyes and I really look forward to using them! I love the shirts so much, I can't decide which I like better! I also adore the pants, ninja, and minion. Thank you!!
@KlanceKlanceRevolutn , that first outfit looks like it was made for him! I wanted to let the oldies know, don't be so hard on yourselves worrying about if your newbie likes your gifts or if you sent enough - it's so kind of you to send *anything* and you should rest easy knowing you did a wonderful thing for the community! Without you, this couldn't happen at all. Thanks everyone!
Right?? ALSO YES. Lacybug is completely right! No matter what you've given, I'm sure your newbies are gonna love it. It's a fun gift for your dolls, what's not to like? The fact that you're sending things in the first place is awesome and you're all stellar! So don't worry and don't stress when you're doing something amazing and you're being ultra kind in the first place! (Lacybug my friend, I fully agree with what you said! Mad props!)
@KlanceKlanceRevolutn Ah! I see why you wanted pastels now. He looks great! And thanks for the photos! It's so nice to see everything come together so well. Good to see the eyes getting used. They've been sitting around for years - most of my dolls now take the much smaller eyes. @lacybug actually, the button up shirt Was made specifically for him. lol I didn't have any other pastel clothes, so made one real quick. (Klance said her boy preferred pastels)
I had to wait a few days for my package, given it arrived on time but I had already moved to my dorm. But a friend brought it to me. When I opened it, I was brought to tears. @Brightfires sent me a beautiful SD boy, my very first of each!! I'm absolutely floored, and I am forever grateful to them and this swap!!
As I said in my PM, I'm glad you like him. ^_^ He's a cute little dude who's spent way too much of his life stuck in a box. I hope you'll have a lot of fun with him.
Not sure what day the package arrived in Florida, but today was the first day that we've had mail delivered since Hurricane Irma hit over the weekend (Wed 9/13). Your package really lifted my spirits and gave me something to think about besides storm clean up. Thank you! The outfits are greatly appreciated. I was surprised when I noticed your address, because most of my relatives are from Vermont and I had a favorite aunt who lived in your town. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you so much Cynthia!!! You have given me more than enough to start off my bjd hobby. The items are all lovely. My dolls now have a complete wardrobe. Me and my dolls are so happy, excited and thankful! Happy, happy surprise indeed!
You're very welcome! Glad you got it given the enormity of the extenuating circumstances. I hope some if not all of it fits your doll. I have friends from school both HS and college down your ways as well. Never been to FL myself.
@Gallye WEEEE, CLOTHES ARRIVED TODAY! Annix will be the most stylish boy on the shelf. It's not hard, since he's the only boy on the shelf! THANK YOU! (Pics to follow)
Hooray!! I'm delighted that the package arrived safely, and that you like the things! I especially hope something in the box will help you make your Trista into the gentle forest creature you want her to be.
It has taken me forever to get this up, I receieved my lovely package. Its super cute! I love the pants and the hat a lot! Thank you so much!!! My boy looks ADORABLE!!!
Oh dear heaven. I am now feeling entirely inadequate as an oldie. I had a scramble as well ... I collect primarily large males, although I do have s o m e dolls of every size. I ended up with newbies with females. My poor females pretty much sit around in what they came in ... not because I can't dress them, but because I have sewn for the guys since, what, 2006? :-P Apologies to my newbies. I will have to make it up to all three of you somehow!
@InvisibleWings , thank you so much for the wonderful clothes! My girl Marin looks so adorable in the outfits you sent. I apologize for the bad lighting in these photos, but I just couldn't wait to take pictures! @ Ves-chan, Thank you very much for the hoodie, the puzzle and the little book. This weekend I'm going to find a Russian dictionary to help me read the book. Now to decide which one of my guys will get to wear the jacket first! So far, that's the only piece of clothing they have outside of their fullset clothing. I really have to do some shopping for them. Again, thank you some much.
@smokergirl I'm glad that my gift safely. I hope that everything fits well to your dolls. And don't read the book, take care of your eyes! Here is a fullscreen version in English.
Received my package from my oldie @Julie M and It was so much fun to open! Most of what I've received if for my incoming big girl. It was such a trip comparing the scale to my tiny bunny Thank you so much!
The package from @Wynn arrived today! Packed full of wonderful goodies~ I don't even know where to begin with my gratitude!! Everything here inspires me to sew some matching stuff and make outfit sets once my doll finally arrives. There's a bunch of frills and laces and warm things, perfect for the winter that will arrive when my girl does as well. There's even miniature cookies. I love miniature stuff. Thank you so, so much Wynn! The DSLR is currently dead so a phone photo will have to suffice~
I just want to share what a wonderful experience I have had with this exchange. My oldbie mentor engaged me in a lively conversation here on DoA to exchange ideas and answer all of my questions. She shared some beautiful photos of her doll family and asked about my beginnings in the hobby. Then, she sent over the most wonderful assortment of goodies! I was elated when they arrived and am now the proud owner of my first-ever set of clothing (including a handmade tribal shirt) and several other thoughtful accessories. My oldbie also carefully listened to my feedback on iris size and subsequently sent me a pair of eyes that perfectly suited my doll. She included a handwritten letter detailing the contents and welcoming me to the hobby. I'm amazed by the generosity and opportunity for connection provided by this exchange. Thanks, DoA and @aernath ! Link to photo of all my new goodies: IMG 0457 And the new eyes in place (I am still getting the hang of putting these in the right spot so they look realistic): IMG 0453
@emkateultra Oh! I am so glad the eyes worked out! They look like just the right size! Hopefully your guy will find his body in no time. ^_^ ...and then... you know it will happen... he'll be getting a friend. ..and then another... and anotherrrr...
I got my package in from the lovely @Julie M! Everything is wonderful!! I'm in love with the K-On instrument bags and wig, which coincidentally I was in need of a long blonde wig and this is perfect, and everything fits perfectly! Thank you so much Julie!
My package arrived today and the outfit I received is amazingly perfect and fits exactly the character I have in mind for my DC Evangeline. I'll post pics later! One thing though - what have I done?!?!? I ordered a 1/3 doll and my boyfriend just ordered me another for Christmas. I knew they were big, but now I've seen clothes I know they're HUGE! Where am I going to fit them? Rofl!
I had those exact thoughts, but already with MSD clothes! And I have a 1/3 MALE on the way next year, what will that even be like :'D Looking forward to seeing photos of the outfit and thoughts on the 1/3!
Thank you to my oldie for sending me the lovely outfit and cards! It is awesome that Marcy can now have real clothes
My package arrived but I am out of town at the moment. So I can totally relate to the Christmas feeling. Can't wait!
Tracking says that my package for my newbie has arrived but they haven't been on DOA for a while. I hope they enjoyed my small package.
I heard from 2 of my 3 newbies but the packages have all been delivered. Hope, I didn't disappoint them.
I'd truly appreciate any item received from my senior. In the spirit of sharing, I'd thank you and all the other seniors for sharing too! Hopefully, one day I can return the favour and pass it on to other newbies in future.
I think my package has been sent back to me?! My tracking number suddenly shows it being back in Sweden.. I have no idea why yet. And even if it is returned to my today, I have to work 9am-8pm today.. T_T
Did your package require a signature? That's the only time I know of packages being sent back, but the post normally holds it for at least 10 days (at least in America). The only time I know the package get sent back more immediately is due to insufficient funds or the recipient refuses delivery.
So, here is the wonderful outfit sent to me by the lovely (and very talented - because she made this herself!) @Ves-chan. I love it, thank you so much! This was also my first BJD-related box opening, so was particularly special: And inside.... Some close ups of the lovely detailing: Ves-chan was also kind enough to whip up some extra sleeves (as my DC Evangeline's arms are longer than those of the doll this was originally made for): All together now...
I'm not sure. But it's been solved! My tracking showed the package as failed delivery in Sweden, but apparently the package was in the correct country.. So the package has been safely delivered! I just received a message from my newbie, yay!
Dear Mods, Unfortunately I have reiceved my gift to Konstrain back in the mail today. I wrote everything correct, as in as was in the message. it looks like the parcel has not left the Netherlands. As it is my sons birthday tomorrow, i will reship monday. Thanks, Cyberspacegirl
