Special Event 2017 Newbie Swap

the sign up period isn't over until the 30th of august. I believe that's when people will be notified who they were paired up with

 

@ultrapandachan yes, you may be right I was just worrying that they refused my apply bc I didn't get any notifications.

 

Hello @vam31 -- your entry form has been received.

Those who sign up for the swap do not receive any notification by default. If you are worried about your application the best thing to do is ask here or in Ask the Moderators. Anybody who cannot be matched with a partner will be notified after sign ups have ended. Because oldies may prefer to be anonymous newbies should understand that they may not ever be informed of the identity of their partner, but may just receive the gift.

 

It might be too late, but is it at all possible to tack on a size of doll to my entry? Maybe it would be easier for a gifter? I think at the time I only had MSD size and Pukifee size, but I've now got a YOSD size and that could be easier? I'm new to this (obviously) so just wasn't sure.

 

@DalphiaRose if you would like to start an Ask the Mods thread to do that, please do so! (you can @mention me to make sure that I see it!)

 

Since the last day is coming up, I just want to make sure I did actually submit mine and not just fill it out and close it. Should I ask the mods or in here?

Hello newbies and oldies! We have successfully obtained a match for every newbie!

We had to focus on shipping restrictions first, then gender and size second, then style preferences last. We hope that everyone will understand; in order to make sure that every newbie could benefit, we tried our best to make the best matches we possibly could, but some newbies may be getting some things that are a different style than those they listed on their entry form.
But rest assured, no matter the style, you will be getting something that should fit your doll!

 

Can't wait to see the pairings.

@arrowchild All the oldies are paired as well. Messages are currently going out. Since the process is a bit long it may take a couple days for all the messages to be sent to the oldie partners.

I got my newbie! I love doing this every year. I'm usually too busy to do the Triathlon stuff but this is the highlight of my dolly year.

 

where can I find the notification to find out if I have been paired or not?

 

@smokergirl Every newbie was matched, so no newbie will be getting a specific, personal notification.
It is up to oldies to decide if they would like to be anonymous, or get in touch with their newbies for any reason, so you may hear word soon, or you might not get any kind of specific contact about it until a package randomly shows up!

 

All oldies have now been contacted with the information of their newbie partners. Thank you so much to everyone for participating!

If you have any questions or to let us know of any problems, please make a new thread in Ask the Moderators, use the Contest prefix, and a title that includes 'newbie event issue' or something to that extent. And you can also @mention AirimirOfGondor, AlisonVonderland, and/or April, so that we see your thread faster.

Aw man, these are so fun! I've already got my newbie's box all finished and ready to roll out Wednesdayish. (Stinkin' holidays and work schedules!)

 

Can't wait to see what my oldie sends me. I'm kinda hoping they do get in touch, it'd be nice to share stories.

 

My box is packed and ready to go out to my newbie on Tuesday! I really hope they can use the things I send. It's been nice clearing out my doll stuff AND helping out a new doll/person. I put a little note in the box, so they can contact me, if they so choose.

I got most of my newbie's stuff picked out I will probably have to ship on Friday morning, though, as I will be off work that day. I plan to send my newbie a tracking number. Do the mods need one as well?

@Zardi the mod team does not need to see the tracking number.

We might ask an oldie to provide one if it seems like they are flaking on sending their newbie something, but I have absolutely no reason to believe that any of our wonderful oldies would do something like that!

 

I'm so excited! Thank you all for helping us newbies out and thanks to the mods for organizing this. Once I qualify, I'll definitely participate as an oldie.

I put my username in a note if my newbie wants to contact me when they get it. I'll leave it up to them. In the mean time I'll babysit the tracking. It's only supposed to take a few days to arrive in Missouri (hint hint).

I sent out my package today. I hope that it'll arrive safe and sound and that my newbie will like my gifts.

 

My newbie will have to rein back her excitement a bit since I'm still working on the details! But the package should be in the mail on Monday. (Hint hint)

 

I got a package from an oldie, @CloakedSchemer !!!
I was so moved from the PILE of clothing, bjd supplies, and the oldie's letter... which was so thoughtful and considerate that I almost cried ;( (few tear drops-I guess I technically cried)
I wish I could post about 50 photos of my dolls with oldie's gifts!!!
My girls absolutely loved the clothes and bjd accessories-
That curly wig....looked perfect on my Napidoll, Carroll that I had to rename her to Ariel and change her character!!!
I am still waiting for my sd17 boy- I am sure he will be thrilled to try these on XD

Sent boxes out to Virginia and Arizona yesterday evening. Hopefully they won't take too long to get through customs.

 

Oh my, some of the oldies were so generous. I feel kinda bad about my gift now >_<

 

I'm a little uneasy about how mine are going to go over, honestly. They're not anything close to what my Newbies actually asked for...

Still interesting goodies, I hope. Just in no way what either of them is expecting, I'm afraid.
We'll find out soon enough. One box has already been delivered and the other is "out for delivery" as we speak.

@Osaka and @Brightfires, I worry about the same thing every year -- especially since not one of the newbies I've ever been assigned has had a doll I knew anything about firsthand. All we can do is try to send something we hope they'll like and use, then hope some more that our gifts will be received in the same spirit, eh?
