Contest 2010 T-shirt Design (Art and Design Contest)

Jun 24, 2010

    1. Oh dang... I didn't even really think about the too girly. XD

    2. I'm collect a lot of t-shirts and I have to say most of these designs are more of sketches/art show pieces than actual t-shirt designs :s Like there was only one or two that were actually wearable, honestly. And for something that's meant to be printed on a shirt, there was a lot of nudity, I was surprised.

    3. Yes, I was a bit surprised about how bare some of them were as well lol Awesome pictures, but to people who are not familiar with BJDs it would just seem to be just a nekkid jointed person ;)

    4. Despite the impressive variety of interesting designs, there were only three I would wear in public, and those were the three I voted for.

    5. There are so many fantastic entries! TT^TT ♥
DOA is certainly packed with tons of creative and talented people!

    6. I like so many of them! I would wear so many designs in public... I want a mosaic shirt! XD

But what freaked me out the most was that two of the designs looked almost identical (in the design sense) to two pictures I did in my AP Art class this past year in school. Great minds think alike? Lol. XD (And I did pick those two. >w>)

    7. I found this competition easier to vote for as there are a very limited amount of designs that may actually work as t-shirt print (coming from textiles and graphic print industry experience as well as from a design perspective). For one thing, it really depends on how the finished result will be printed - if screen print then that seriously narrows it down to really just 1 or 2 max that would really work. If direct digital print, well, that offers a little more leeway.

    8. A agree, a LOT of entries were gorgeous works of art! I tried to keep mine as simple as possible, but I wanted to go all overboard and digitally paint everywhere! XD
I voted for the three that looked like something I would actually wear in public, though there was one that was awesomely awesome that I'd buy and wear as a sleepover tee. Maybe I can ask the creator to make some through cafepress so I can have that design on a tshirt! >w<

    9. It's already been said, but there are very few that work as a T-shirt design. Nudity wouldn't be so bad on it's own, but the subjects involved here look to be preteen, which doesn't really work well for something to be worn in public D= some would make nice designs on something like a notebook or mousepad though. Others worked great as fine art pieces or digital art pieces, but would come out very blurred and unflattering on a T-shirt, speaking as a graphic art student =X

Saying that, the three I voted for are all good for T-shirts =) And I would buy any one of them if they won.

    10. Seeing all the feedback these designs are getting naturally makes me regret not having more time to work on my entry and go with a gut feeling. I can definitely understand the various possible reasons behind the nudity, though. I thought of the wearability of the shirt design no differently as I would about walking around with a doll that would appear strange to anyone who was unfamiliar with the hobby.

There are 2 entries that really peek out at me from the rest which I'd love to wear. I second the request that, if they don't win, these particular designs should be printed some other way. I believe the DoA logo/link needs to be taken out of the design (which I wouldn't really mind)

    11. Where do I go to see the designs?

    12. Sizzlebrain: here ^^
