Contest 2010 T-shirt Design (Art and Design Contest)

Question- Is text other than the required "Den of Angels" and the url allowed if kept limited/brief ? Thanks so much!

Edit: Also, is a touch of "gore" acceptable (nothing over pg13)?

 

Yep, as long as the text is very very minimal. The focus should be the design, not the text.

WOOOO!!! I got it done in time! I submitted my entry, now to cross my fingers and pray. I do have a question...can we vote for ourselves?

 

At first I was happy with my submission, but now the more and more I look at it, the more I wish we could withdraw a submission and edit it... *settles with attempting to make a new design instead*

 

Ooooooh....third place is candy....

Pfft...I have braces, and I'd kill that candy in a heartbeat XD (I'm very bad, I don't think I stay away from any of the foods you're supposed to when you have braces. ^^; )

I have a habit of only using .png format. Jpeg tends to pixelize and kill the images.

It's like rigging the whole contest. imo.

 

I guess you've never seen politicians casting their ballots in an election? "Rigging a competition" means that those in charge have made it so that a particular person wins. So...by saying that, you're saying that the mods will change voting numbers. I...would hope that's not what you mean. One person casting a vote for him or herself can in no way 'rig' a competition. Hardly selfish to hope that your own entry will win, and vote accordingly. An artist is entirely entitled to believing her own work is the best. Hardly 'unsportsmanlike.'

"Rigging" wasn't the best word to have used, I admit. I am also very politically active, so I understand your point.
Still, I worked as a commercial artist, and during event judging we were not allowed to vote on our own works. Or vote at all in some cases.

I am all for thinking my work is the best, but I try to not be biased, and look at the overall picture. (or pictures, lol) To each his own I suppose.

Did anyone have trouble uploading to a photo hosting site? I couldn't get my entries to upload on either Photobucket or Flikr! I tested DA and it worked fine( I deleted them from there promptly). Any suggestions?

 

Have you tried using ImageShack? They usually work out well.

Argh...just realized I scaled one side of my first entry but not the OTHER...drat, drat, drat!

 

Um... it appears that on the voting the order is some what mixed up, and it appears to be short a few entries, It appears to jump from one, out of order on two and then picks back up at 16.

 

I just submitted my votes. This was actually much easier for me to decide on than the other contests, mostly because I'd consider myself a T-shirt enthusiast (I collect T-shirts from designers all over the world). It was great to see all the entries, but there were only three that I felt comfortable wearing in public, so after that it was just deciding which one would be first, second or third. Great job, entrants, there were a lot of unique pieces.

 

I have no idea what was going on with the thumbnails in the voting form. For now I've just removed them.

 

Hhhhmmm guess mine was disqualified.since it wasn't on the thread or the voting form. Would be nice to know why, but I understand that everyone is busy so I will live lol.

Cast my vote. I assumed that the shirts would be silk screened and voted on the designs that I felt would make the best shirt. Also I picked ones I would likely wear. Good luck to everyone who entered

I know the feeling about T-shirts! when I see them if they are the right design etc I just HAVE to have them! But I had the same thing as you - there were only three that I thought Wow, I would actually wear that. Some of the entries were really gorgeous, but they were more gorgeous pieces of art than something that would work easily on a t-shirt. I also found that the volume of entries that were very girly was interesting. Pleased that there were some more unisex designs too!

 

There is one in there that if it doesn't win, I'm gonna bug the creator to upload it to one of the sites you can order T-shirts from!! LOVE the design!! Great job everyone~!

 

There are a few I really want to see on a T-shirt and I'd wear them. Many are gorgeous pieces of artwork, but I'm not sure they are wearable. I really had fun looking at all the other entries. That being said, I'm going to be a nervous wreck all week until they post the winners. XD

Yeah, there were a lot of girly ones. That was kind of disappointing.

So... I found voting for this one a lot harder than voting for the other ones. I mean, the other ones were like "oh, that's a cool picture, I think I'll vote for it."
This one was different... I had to think about actually wearing it.

There are some lovely designs, but there is just no way I'm wearing some of them in public. It would make me too uncomfortable. For others, I didn't like the colours they used. For some others, the design wouldn't go well on the colour of shirt I want.
In the end, there were really only two or three that I would consider wearing, and the third one was sort of a forced choice. I voted for the two that I would wear, and then sat there and chin-tapped and waffled before finally choosing a third... which I doubt I would buy. >>
