So I've been on the lookout for 1/3 dress patterns, but not really finding anything of a simplistic nature that could possibly be used with a t-shirt fabric? Wondering if anyone has some pattern suggestions for someone just starting to sew in this size? Also, if anyone has any tips that would be most appreciated!
Also following this. I already tried measuring and making. And covering the doll in tape to make a pattern that fits. But I'm hoping to see more tips.
Try DGRequiem on etsy, they have all kinds of patterns. And there are also free smart doll patterns around, those are 1/3 scale as well
If you're new sewing for dolls, I would recommend working with woven fabrics, not knits. Knits on a larger scale are more forgiving than knits on 1:3 or smaller scale. I mostly sew on 1:6 scale, but if I'm working with knits, I use tear away stabilizer, sometimes with fabric stiffener (similar to starch). Many people like DGRequiem, but I personally don't like their patterns. I don't like the end results, and I've purchased a few of them across all scales - but your mileage may vary! I've gotten a lot of use out of this pattern, which is free...I've adjusted it to fit a variety of bodies, varied the length or the skirt or sleeve shape, taped the gusset pattern pieces in place to make the sewing simpler & all sorts of things. So it can be as simple as you want for a basic dress or as involved as you want as your skills increase. At the top of each forum are stickies. They are sticky for a reason--so that they stay at the top of the forum. The one you want in this case is this one, at the top of this forum: /threads/links-to-offsite-sewing-patterns.546329/ including free patterns.
Lomi's Playground on youtube has good tutorials for a variety of dolls including 1/3 girls. She also posts the patterns for free on her website. I think the link to her website is in the description of the videos. She's got two 1/3 girls she has patterns one of which is a feeple65. I can't remember what the other doll is. I've had luck resizing her feeple65 patterns for my feeple60. I just print them out at a reduced size and make a mock up and do any altering I need and then trace my mock up to have my own custom sized patterns.
