You'd have to take your own measurements, but here is a great pattern for doll perfect kilts http://www.leviathanstudios.com/figures/macjoe/patterns.html
Patterns for people making BJD clothing from the Dark and Medieval or Middle Ages, up to the early Renaissance, emphasis on Europe. As these time periods are trickier to find patterns and examples for, I am putting all the links I can find right here. Each type of pattern may have more than one word describing it, as maybe ten people on this board know what the heck a Cotehardie even is, and why that definition changes depending on what century you're in. Also, this helps people using the Search function. Many of these are for humans, but you just measure your doll and make them human size. Medieval patterns are incredibly easy to work with, and it's fairly clear which lines need to be measured where. ~*~*~*~*~ The Basics of Generally Medieval Clothing: A good place to start, with nice pictures Meant for human reenactors, but it mostly applies to your doll's outfits too. http://www.virtue.to/articles/in_depth_garb.html More on Medieval Clothing, by household roles: http://rosaliegilbert.com/clothesandaccessories.html Tunics. Did NOT include KILTS like the ones you're thinking of. About Kilts! I include this here because people will come here looking for it. Kilts are not strictly Medieval, and they really got worn mostly in the 1700s. William Wallace, for instance, never wore a kilt in his life. Here's a great site about Kilts, what they are, and how they came to be, who wore them and when: http://www.reconstructinghistory.com...ever-wore.html To fold a kilt on your doll, get a lonnnnnng bit of fabric and try this: http://www.historichighlanders.com/belted.htm You'll have to do some math proportionate to your doll's height to get the dimensions for the fabric, but it could be done simply. This information is helpful for me since I would like to sew for my dolls. I have already printed out one of the patterns. I purchase other clothing items as needed.
Does anyone know how to access the patterns on this site? http://bjdpatterns.wordpress.com/ I have looked for hours trying to find some nice patterns for my bjd that I could get for free...no income makes it hard to purchase patterns of any kind now days....and have tried to find the free patterns on this website but have never had any luck with it....any information would really be appreciated. Thanks!!
There are no actual patterns on this website, it is just an index of patterns that are in these magazines so if you wish to purchase one you know what is inside. http://yousai.net/english/download/sd.htm I'm not sure if anyone posted this one yet, but above is the link to some simple skirts, bloomers, shirt, and jinbei for Super Dollfie and they're all free
You can add my shop to the patterns you can buy list: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DGRequiem They aren't free (4.99/outfit) but they are very exactly tailored and come with tons of written instructions, and I'm fine with you selling outfits made from the patterns as long as the pattern is credited Here's a couple of the outfits:
Thank you for the link to the kilt pattern. I think it would work nicely making a full-length one for a girl doll, too.
I've found myself having to alter them slightly (turns out Teenie Gems have proportionally-wider limbs), but otherwise, I'm very happy to have bought that huge pattern pack! I'm going to make SO MANY CUTE THINGS this week!
This site has lots of knitting patterns for various size dolls. Free here: http://www.dollswestdesigns.com/free-knit-patterns.html Free sewing patterns here: http://www.dollswestdesigns.com/free-sewing-patterns.html She also sells patterns. I have lots of free patterns on my website. Most are for MSD and Tinies - Tutorials Just released three new patterns; MSD Lab Coat - MSD Lab Coat - Tutorials MSD vest - MSD Vest Pattern - Tutorials JID Girl's top - JID Lady Top - Tutorial
I love your rococo dress it fit so perfectly for a friends doll and im modifying it to fit the little girl im waiting to get here.
Fueling my addiction more with all these adorable patterns, can't wait to get my first bjd so I can start sewing up a storm!
I found this tutorial with patterns for a SD sized sweater, made with socks. THE FASHION DOLL REVIEW: Sock Tutorial: Cardigan & knee-highs for SD13 ball-jointed dolls And I drafted Msd and Yosd sized sweater patterns to work with the tutorial, since those are the only size dolls I have. PixieFaire has some free patterns for various sized dolls. Both sewing and knitting/crocheting, so I'm posting this in both threads. Free 18 inch doll clothes patterns and tutorials
apparently 18inch doll clothes fit yosd sized dolls like littlefee if you shrink them by 55%. according to the wrenfeathers tutorial i found if you shrink the patterns without seam allowances and add them back in after you need to shrink by 50%, but if you shrink by 55% you will have appropriate 1/4" seam allowances in one step. i haven't tried it myself, yet, but have a whole bunch i'm planning to. you would still have to do a fit test and probably length long sleeves and pants, but it should be pretty close and there are a lot of ag patterns out there free and otherwise!
Thank you for all these links, and to those who added. I read patterns like novels...it's so fascinating to see how others put clothing together. My experience is with dresses for my daughter in sizes 3-7 American, and quilting with 1/4" seams, so smooth finishing on a tiny scale is so important to learn about for me. The magazine Threads is wonderful for fitting techniques...as I'm still a newbie, it may be a while before I have anything original to post, but for now, #THANKYOU
Hiya. There is one site I love for all the details and beautiful gowns. They are Barbie sized but since people already linked size charts for resizing patterns I don't think it will be any problem. Free sewing patterns for fashion dolls Also, this link has everything free, although nothing doll sized it would seem. Still, I think it's worh taking a look. All Free Sewing - Free Sewing Patterns, Sewing Projects, Tips, Video, How-To Sew and More
thefoldline.com it has a searchable database for human patterns. it has a doll section, but its not very good at the moment.
I see that there is a need for big boy patterns LOL Since I've been making my own, I see an opportunity here LOL LOL LOL I can't even find the Adam Harris boy patterns anymore - did they discontinue them? Those fit lots of the 62-65 cm boys - I've got 2 of their patterns
I have not seen this listed anywhere (though to be honest, am new and no where near through the archives) but if you have Issu App or Account, there are quite a few old doll magazines with free patterns to be found (though not many to BJD specifically, but lots for custom, Blythe and Fashion). There's also a truly impressive and incredibly scary amount of patterns for elaborate crocheted costumes. It's also a very interesting way to see how the community and style has changed over the years. The search terms I used in the app varied around dolls, dollmaking, costumes and sewing. I have more exploring yet to do with other terms.
Thanks for these links. I keep saying I will sew something but I never do. Still collect patterns though.
These links are great. I often glance at pattern pieces when my own designs aren't matching up exactly right. I'm so thankful that this community exists, is willing to share information, and keeps it updated.
Designs by Jude featuring Fletcher Pattern Company Each day will have $5.00 patterns so you will have to watch for your bjd size right now there is two from yesterday but will change in an hour or so as I post this.....
What if the link to said pattern isn't scaled to fit a bjd? I found a 1860s civil war era chemise pattern and thought perhaps someone else besides me could have use for it. Knowledge in patterns would be needed. Civil War Era Chemise Pattern Since all the links haven't been collected into one comprehensive list in the first post, I'm also going to add this: BJD measurements and patterns by scargeear on DeviantArt Patterns for various clothing items fit for different kinds of BJDs, but I'm sure one could make use of them for any and all if you know your way around a pattern and how to adjust them to scale.
I've bought a number of patterns from your shop, they're fantastic!! Oh my gosh, I feel like I just struck gold!! Thank you so much for sharing!! I can't seem to get to the actual patterns here? Like I can see the preview but can't click anything. Am I doing something wrong?
Great pattern! Thanks for sharing. (If anyone has trouble holding down the skirt pleats before sewing, try using a fork to space the pleats perfectly as you start to sew).
I'm looking for a sd17 zip up jacket/hoodie pattern, a button up shirt patter, general pants pattern too. Can anyone help direct me to one? I don't mind is its not free either.
@Lolly Hey there - just did a quick run-through of the links in your first post to see what's still up and what's no longer active (or if I could track down where things have moved to). Offsite BJD Pattern Index is still good (albeit slightly confusing to navigate, still not sure I've figured out precisely how to look for what I'm after on there). Sejongstudio shared a file with Raglan t-shirt patterns in 5 sizes - minifee, zaoll, tiny, dollshe mystic (70+) and MSD. Links: dropbox, yandex.disk
Does anyone have a pattern for a 1/4 lolita blouse or a onepiece? The link in the original post is unfortunately dead.
Since the redirection for blog-pages doesn't seem to work : I have moved my blog to my own domain, and with it the free pattern section for Iplehouse dolls. Here's the updated link.
I was looking for a Cape pattern and stumbled upon die Moods website and found their really extensive collection of free patterns for the coolest clothes. The PDFs are awesome and so easy to resize with a graphics program (photoshop and similar) https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/category/free-sewing-patterns/ I just thought I would share it with you. I bet a lot of you know of it already but perhaps I could help someone with providing the link. If you need help resizing, feel free to ask.
I’ve gotten tons of patterns off Mood- and they also have a whole section of how-to-sew blog posts for complete beginners, as well as selling fabric, notions, sewing machines, etc. Definitely a good site to check out!
I'm sewing their Winterberry Cape in MSD size at the moment. The "tutorial" on their site is not really helping, but when you know the sewing basics it's pretty much self explanatory.
I feel super late to the party (to the point where I went to register for an account here because I forgot I already made an account many, many, many years ago) but thank you for all of the resources!
Although I am late to the discussion- May all your camels bear twins. May all your cookies bake perfectly every time. May all of your 3D prints come out perfectly. What I'm saying is - this is an amazing resource, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This is so wonderful! I was wondering if it's possible to resize without a graphics program? Or maybe could it be done manually like on paper or something?
