Thank you! Now I have to find the right clothes/style and personality. He was a surprise but I love his face.
Yes those two were the sanest of the bunch. I really like how Galileo turned out but I don't really have a back story for him, even if he is a handsome guy.
Ohhhhh Galileo! Don't see too many pics of the guy around. That expression is very understated. Here's one of my hybrid Michael's recent pics. The guy just underwent a minor overhaul (refreshed faceup, change of eyes). That doesn't go to say I was already unhappy with his previous look, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity when the artist offered to touch him up. Didn't realize how scuffy his old faceup looked compared to that of my other dolls. He almost didn't make it home because of COVID-19 lockdowns, but thankfully he got back in the nick of time. He's looking wonderful @AntarelNefertili! I heard about Alek's travel issues, thanks to the outbreak, glad to hear both he and you doll got to their respective homes safely.
On FB, Granado recently asked what if they released a smaller version of Saturn in the future. Given the comments, I'd say peopple would be delighted this idea. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a 50-ish cm version.
I'd probably be all over a scaled down titan body because I'm apparently on a quest to own all the odd doll sizes that require custom clothes because nothing standard has a prayer of fitting them.
I did see that. He's always been a popular sculpt, I hope those who like him but feel he's too big, get a chance to have a smaller version.
I'd be in so much trouble if that's the route they take, I LOVE Saturn, but can't quite justify a titan in our current apartment. The vigor, zen or embody size dudes, however, are squarely in the size I collect...
Hi all, I just got my VIPO V-10 head today. He's adorable and has teeth! He fits on my Dollshe Arsene body. It's too dark today to do a faceup but I promise photos when he's done. Anyone else get this head yet?
I did. I got my 10 on Friday. He is cute but the weather is crappy for working on him. Not sure what body he will get.
I just got Liroshan (Lucifer 53) and Sancire (Soom ID51 London Steam Engine Rider) back from the face-up artist and I utterly love what she did with him. I'd asked for colours of a sunset/sunrise in his face-up as he's the God of Dusk & Dawn and sent a pic of the mark on his chest to help with the selection of his colour palette with a request for as little pink as possible (I hate pink). When a bright light shines on his face up, you can really see the pearl/glitter around his eyes and the colours of his eye make up, particularly the bronze on his lower lid, just explodes into vibrant colour. For Sancire, I said he was a serious, understated guy and I think the artist nailed it. I have another Soom ID 51 London (The Moor version), Ondraeden, in the same resin and there is a very different vibe between the two of them despite being the exact same sculpt and resin colour and I'm thrilled about that. @Iron_Dog - They both look so awesome. I really like Sancire's wig and glowing eyes. Liroshan's ombre colour scheme is really cool too.
@xyuemoto Thanks. I'm really happy how they turned out. Liroshan's wig is one that was supposed to be for someone else but was too small and the wrong shade. I let out the darts on the wig and dyed it to get the look I wanted for Liroshan.
Does anyone know if Granado still sells the Titan body as a full doll? I've found where to buy just the body (think) but can't seem to find where to order him as a full doll.
I did my faceup for V-10. He turned into Xiao Zhan from The Untamed so I had to buy his outfit and wig from Legenddoll. Do you think Granado had him in mind? Many photos of him show his teeth. I have a blank Wang YiBo head so they will end up being a pair on Loongsoul bodies I ordered. He's on my Dollshe Arsene body at the moment. So many plans! Well done, he fits the character really well. I've only watched 2 episodes but since I have the time now I should watch more. Oh and I'll share this here too. Raguel and V07 Nox and Drake by SteamWitch, on Flickr
@Iron_Dog - They both look gorgeous, but Liroshan's colours just take the cake. He looks utterly perfect! Dusk and dawn are exactly what I think of upon seeing him. @Cap'n - So at the moment the ordering period is open for just the titan body: Male Body Titan Granado do monthly ordering periods for their bodies, while only a few are available all the time as full dolls (though you also have the option to just get those ones as heads too). Normally during events Granado will release a bunch of older sculpts, and quite often they'll take suggestions for what to re-release. You could always ask them if and when they plan to release more titan heads? Their customer service team is super friendly.
@Quiet and Insane Thanks. I'm so very pleased with how they turned out and the work this artist, Jade Garden, does. She's painted 4 of my boys so far and I'm going to be sending more to her (2 more blank guys and 1 for a new face-up). It's also a bonus to me that she's a fellow Canadian as I don't need to worry about possible Customs fees when I send heads out. Even better, I was able to send those two out during this pandemic without worry about my package getting stopped at the border.
@Iron_Dog - Oh that's great! It's always nice when you find a good local artist and don't have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping and customs.
I feel your pain where finding the ideal faceup artist is concerned! Even though I have a local favorite, some of my dolls may just have to be sent overseas in order to get the look I'm aiming for. (Obviously that would have to wait until the pandemic passes.) Moar Michael spam, anyone? True Lion 01 by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Yes, I'm picky about how the artist does certain things. If I look through their gallery and the majority of the pics show eyebrows in a certain way, I won't use them. If the lower lashes are done in a certain style, that's a nope for me. If the artist tends to use what I feel is a lot of pink, nope. And then the artist needs to be able to work with my somewhat sketchy physical details of what I want because I'm face-blind and can't really describe HOW I want the face-up done because I can't visualize it but I can describe the personality and vibe of the character expertly. So when I find somebody who hits all the marks, I will use them to death for my guys and praise them to everybody.
It's only recently that my poor Michael had finally come into his own, because my girls tend to get preferential treatment (it's a guilty secret). Community quarantine certainly gave me all the time to look back at how much he has progressed through the years. Sure, now he looks like this: True Lion 05 by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr But, three years ago, he didn't look nearly as good (he'll probably kill me in my sleep for digging out this photo): Spoiler: Blame it on me being new to the hobby Lighted Window by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Honestly? I still take photos of my peeps from time to time like your blast from the past, and I really have no excuse since at this point photography has been one of my main hobbies for 20 years (in my defense, our apartment has the absolute worst lighting and a serious shortage of outlets for portable lighting solutions)
@AntarelNefertili - My photography hasn't really improved in the last six years or so...with the exception of the odd camera upgrade... phone camera that is. That said, it all takes time. I adore how he's looking, though he still looked pretty good back then too. @Girrl - We just moved into a new house, and while the lighting is better, there is a distinct lack of power points. Bah.
I live in an apartment with sucktacular lighting, too. It's of an older vintage as well so the available outlets are... stingy is a good term. Some are oddly located, too.
Our apartment is usually dim, except for certain areas (and at certain times only). A lot of my photos were taken in one such area, and require a deadline before the fading light simply means it's time to call it a day. ^_^' Oh, and the Michael sculpt has pretty tricky eyebrow ridges -- it has a tendency to shadow the eyes like crazy. Having a faceup with less shadow around the eyes significantly helped. Artificial lighting, though, that's another story. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet, with the effect of sometimes turning the doll's skin tone into a vivid shade of YELLOW on-camera because of wrong settings.
I have a lot of dolls in non-human colours and my camera tries to "correct" this all the time. Especially if I'm taking a shot where one doll is say grey and another is green. Neither doll come out their true colour *sigh*. I tend to take most photos in the same place in my apartment because it's the only place with semi-decent light. But, I can only do that during certain times of the day and if it's a weekday, I'm at work when those times occur so the weekends are my only good times. If it happens to rain on the weekend....
Ughhhh I feel you there. I know a couple of my older dolls are yellowed a little, but artificial light and my camera makes them look like they jumped into a bucket of bright yellow paint. Always makes me wonder what other people think when they see my photos. Do they think my dolls are just THAT yellow?
I actually incorporated the yellowness of Edenlei (Unidoll UH-08 Elf) into his character. I describe his skin tone as being the colour of pure gold. Unidoll "normal" was fairly yellow to start with and they were made waaaay back in the day before companies started putting in UV protection to help slow the mellowing. He's completely even in colouring but he's definitely got some unique colour happening. Kathiel (Unidoll Ark) is "WS" but he's definitely not white (unless you're being very generous) even when compared to some of my similar age guys who are WS. I'm glad I don't need to worry about that with Liroshan as he's grey. I just hope the purple undertones to his resin (which I love) don't fade over time. But, my camera does try to "correct" his skin tone regardless of lighting, which is it's own annoyance.
Really it could be any combination of things. Some days my photos look great, other days they're terrible.
Photography is art and even at the best of times, producing art is hard work. Sometimes it turns out how you wanted. Sometimes it makes you want to throw things because it just refuses to cooperate. Sometimes its not at all what you were trying for but it turned out beautiful despite your efforts.
I thought I'd do a drive-by of my boy now that I have him mostly situated. I think mine may be one of the few (only?) Granado Claudes in the hobby. He came on the Supermodel body, but I've put him on a Volks Graffiti instead. The Supermodel just didn't work for what I wanted. I'm so, so happy I was able to get him.
@mosaicwolf - Very cool colour scheme, love the wig. Where did you get those awesome dark green eyes?
He's a character doll, Deku from My Hero Academia. The eyes are custom Enchanted Doll. I've had really good luck getting customs through them.
@mosaicwolf - Aww, he's cute! Would you be able to share some photos of the supermodel body if you still have it?
I'm waiting for mine to be shipped, they asked to make sure my address was correct but I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet.
Yes definitely share photos! Apparently those hands can be made compatible with the Embody/Evol and I'm super curious about how in-proportion they look.
Still absolutely no movement on my poor Raguel head that shipped 3/28. The first head was sent to Hawaii by mistake end of last year. I didn't find out till March. This one is the second head. I'm going to throw a party when he comes!
Ahhh, the owners/proprietors of the Pub, Nox and Drake. Night lights by SteamWitch, on Flickr Still no tracking numbers for my jointed hands.
