I'd like to see more bodies in the 60-62cm range. I'm not a fan of the trend to larger and larger boys. I have two 72cm boys and I find they're more than enough resin for me. I don't want any others this height or taller.
Getting down to the wire on ordering the discontinuing guys. . . I have really liked Granado for their bulkier sculpts, them getting rid of two of them is disappointing. I am wobbling back and forth on a Remiel on the Evol body. Ever since a DOA member showed off her Master and Commander dolls, I have been toying with the idea of a Jack Aubrey bjd. Master and Commander is my Dad and my comfort movie so he actually contributed details about what he should look like (since he is based off a real naval general). . . Probably too much info but I still have a couple days to make up my mind!
Honestly, these guys are worth it. I'm still kicking myself for taking so long to get my Neptune a body - I got him the Embody a couple of years ago and it's such a gorgeous body, and the jointed hands are easily some of the best I've ever bought.
Just got my 70cm Fortis body! I didn't even know he shipped 0__o. Just showed up here. He's beautiful, I've just been so stressed about the tariff situation that I haven't really been excited about getting any doll things for a while now, so I have to get used to the fact that he's here now and figure out what I want to do about a head. For those wondering, the tracking and label has a California address, so I think he's sending things to a warehouse first, then fedex from there. That would be why there wasn't a tracking number or anything on my order probably.
Granado is frequently behind on posting the shipping to their site so I have had some surprise arrivals also. Many shipments from China use two carriers and switch carriers when they arrive in the USA.
Glad to see some of the bigger Fortis bodies are on their way! When I last asked for an update on mine in April (70cm body, WS), Granado customer service said the bodies would be ready around June, so I'm glad they've been able to meet that timeframe. If tracking data isn't necessarily being mesaaged to people when their orders are being sent out, I guess it's time to keep checking my post office box every few days for the "you have a parcel" slip! (I'm Australian, so the shipment routes from China to here are probably more direct, but I just had a parcel arrive from Korea that didn't ping Australia Post's digital parcel arrival notification system and wouldn't have known it had arrived if I hadn't been checking the tracking myself)
I rarely photograph my Granado Noah with his oldest son, shelled as a Loongsoul ZhuZhao, owing to stylistic differences (Granado is more realistically proportioned than the super lanky LS guys). But it's a Father's Day photoshoot, so I somehow made it work! Oh Father by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
My Fortis body arrived! he's the 63 64? (bad memory) size, the size a lot of dolls were back in 2009-2010 when I was collecting most of my 1/3 dolls. So this way he fits into my collection. I was able to slide some undershorts I already had onto him. He comes with ah, Extra Bits. Me and the other gal who was here when the box arrived had a good giggle. His own part is ball jointed so he can "dress to the left/right" in snug outfits. I am impressed with the sculpting of the details on this body, and the RANGE OF MOTION HOLY BALLJOINTS BATMAN I really MUST give this guy a photoshoot. I gotta show you all the POSING he can do! THem SHOULDERS...
@Rosslyn Please share photos when you can! I'm getting excited for my 70cm Fortis when he eventually shows up
I honestly wish my Noah could be on the Fortis body (the 75Adagio and I tend to fight where the lack of thigh swivels are concerned). Having owned an Impldoll female body with shoulder joints, I know it could add a lot of emotion to a pose, provided it's engineered correctly. But alas, my finances are a-shambles and no resin purchases until things get sorted out. One of my small-leafed hoya plants (Hoya heuschkeliana inner-variegated) got its first blooms. They're definitely one of those flowers that won't look ridiculous in scale with Granado boys or similar sizes. I wasn't able to capture the sheer cuteness of the dumpling blooms in the Noah/IH Scarlet couple photo, but I do have a close-up in my IG post on the subject. I hope this is not redundant. Does anyone know what current Granado resin color would match a Dollshe or Dolltown oriental resin? Thank you!!!
I got this new guy Saturday. He has already made himself at home. His name is Yuu. Welcome Yuu, have a beer by SteamWitch, on Flickr
I'm pondering on Granado in either of the tan options for my Volks Regulus head who is in bronze. Does anyone have any experience of these options? I'm guessing it's between Amber and Bronze, and looking at the bronze comparison further up the thread, it does look very dark - perhaps too dark... But I'd be interested to know if anyone has hybrided Volks bronze or shadow skin with Granado... Thanks!
@Alice80 Granado have done custom colour orders in the past – I'd suggest emailing them and asking if that's a service they still offer, as many dollmakers no longer mix custom colours. If they do, they'd likely require a physical sample of your desired colour. Some people send the doll's headcap, but that has the risk of it being lost in the post. Other people have gone to hardware stores and gotten a paint colour card sample that closely matches the resin, and sent that to the dollmaker.
Thank you! I'm going to visit a friend who has a variety of skin colours to see if any of them come close, but if that doesn't work, then I think your idea is a good one...
Noah (and the big Iple girls) in their first 2026 photoshoot. He did have a boo-hoo and fell on some plants while at it, even though he's usually the most solid poser of the three. Informal Formal by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
True! I mean, this guy who's on solid boots with good traction suddenly decided he wanted to kiss the hoyas, while his companions (one in heels, and the other just leaning against the stand on heeled feet but no shoes) were being well-behaved for the day.
Kissing the hoyas is a great way to put it Urgh I need to pull out my Granados and give them some love, it's been too long. Everyone's still in their winter clothes.
I have a Tan Neptune, but I don't think I have ever taken a photo of him. I was going through a hard time when he arrived and I didn't even take the box opening photos of him, and then I dropped out of the hobby for a few years after getting him. Maybe I've been afraid of bonding with him for remembering that time, or because he was so dang expensive and I feel guilty for spending so much, I'm not sure. But, if anyone here would be interested to see him, maybe if he joined in friendship the other Granado 'kinfolk', he would get more attention from me. I have come to realize now that he has earned his place in the 'crew' because he has had a cozy central spot in the display cabinet all this time holding up anyone less stable, lol, and I would miss him otherwise. He is one of the few of my doll family that I know by a name, and not just by the sculpt: Big Uncle "Shaggy."
@Valdemagra we'd love to see him. Sometimes playing with a doll is a good way to dispel bad memories.
Ah, who's that knocking at my door? Gee, I'm not dressed yet! Alas, no time now! *pulls robe tighter* Hey! Welcome! It's so good to see you! For me? *deeply inhales the scent* Thank you so much! What a wonderful way to start my day! You're the Best!
