☆~~ Granado Doll Discussion Part 13 ~~☆

Apr 25, 2016

    1. I can't tell you what I said when I saw that piece ;) hehe!
But she is worth the tough stringing! I do have to be careful to keep her in soft wigs, or she looks very masculine--though if you wanted a sort of gender-neutral character she'd be perfect. I also didn't give her much makeup so that makes her more androgynous. But I love that sculpt--all of Crocus Lee's sculpts are so fun in how you can get different expressions at different angles.

    2. I like his strong female sculpts. I like his cute female sculpts too. :)

    3. The only thing I don't like is... I am running out of room! :o

    4. The room issue is where I'm at too which is why I decided that Enoch will be sharing a body.

    5. I have too many dolls for the space as well. Not a bad problem to have, actually!

    6. My big Withdoll girl is sitting on Vee's lap. He is excited but nervous at the same time (she's an assassin). lol

    7. At this point I just pile up people on anyone who will tolerate it. Vee is so cute, I'd love to see a photo :D

    8. They arrived together. This afternoon I was off buying clothes with my granddaughter and had to wait. (I can't believe I actually bought something for myself!) ;) I was excited to get home.
      I love them!

    9. I have the same style of man fabric except it's for Christmas! I'd love to make a shirt for my boys, do you know where to find the pattern?

    10. @SteamWitch the twins are so cute! How are you going to paint them?

    11. They will be members of a Kpop-type group. I have twin Souldoll KangUk
already so they will become members. I am currently deciding on whether these twins are family or just good friends. There will probably be one more member the only solo dude. Outfits and such are in planning.
I have a 5 year love of Korean drama and Kpop.

    12. Oh, that looks like so much fun--the outfits are the best part of kpop bands ;)

    13. Ooooo! Can't wait to see them all together! Congratulations for getting the band back together! lol
And so I'm sure then that you know why I named my first V-01, Min-Ho. :wiggle:

    14. Woot, just made my Enoch head order :)
I ordered the head blank, in that custom lighter bronze skintone they already used for my Uranus.
Thought about getting him in tan first, for easier hybriding, but I love that bronze skintone too much.

No clue what to do with my LLT Roderich head now though, who was my old king.
But I have some time to think about this.

Also, that new body they teased!
I really hope it's not some V2 of the Evol body (with extra joints), like the Lads Plus, or some tiny fashion doll version :sweat

    15. @Ara he will be stunning in Bronze! I am pretty sure the next body is a 68 cm, so I think you may be interested in it!

    16. @fishcake
      I hope so :D

I'd actually be more interested in a regular 70cm body (or up to 71cm), just something that is bigger than Lads without the killer Evol beefiness.
Granado already teased that it's something new but at the same time not, so I really fear it's some pimped Evol body :?

    17. Yes, I do and their names are Joon-Ki and Min-Woo two of my favorite pretty boys.

    18. Thanks! The outfits are fun to make but dark eyed boys in eyeliner gets me every time.:love

    19. @Mrkendoll1 , I think @aernath made her own patterns? I'd love to see the Christmas version of the fabric. :)

@SteamWitch congrats on the Kpop twins!

    20. Vee is being very careful about where he puts his hands, lol.

    21. @LuckyXIII That photo is priceless! He looks thrilled and nervous indeed. ;)

    22. I finally finished my Neptune! He was one of the first ones here to arrive here and has sat in his box ever since. T^T The body just wasn't right for him. Now I have him on my favorite male body of all time and it's wonderful! It's a Dollstown 18 body. The resin is a tad off, but nothing some blushing can't fix.

    23. He is absolutely gorgeous. I love her face ups, so realistic. Good to know that his head looks nice on DT18 body. In your opinion his head looks normal to this body ( size wise )?

    24. Thank you!

Well, it depends on your taste. He is perfectly proportioned for an actual adult human male, which is what I was going for. However, if you're used to more conventional doll proportions he will look a little pinheaded to you.

Here is a full body picture:

    25. Thank you. I put my neptune on Ringdoll-3 body, and proportion is little bit off for my taste. I've always loved Dollstown bodies, so i might consider to change it in the future.

    26. @Ara - Congratulations on your order too. :)

@LuckyXIII - Oh gosh, the expression on his face is priceless!

@sadistic_x_blood - Helene's face ups are just gorgeous. He has the most beautiful eyebrows and freckles. :D

    27. @sadistic_x_blood he looks perfect on that body!

@LuckyXIII hilarious picture. Vee looks like wants to go for it, but is too nervous.

    28. Yay my boots came in! My poor Uranus though, headless, clothes-less, with only shoes. XD

      • x 1
    29. Well if he has shoes, he is all set once he gets his head on! (wig is good too).

    30. [IMG]

I was not prepared for how pointy-toed these boots are. I wish there were flat-toed boots for the evol body, but more importantly, they seem to take away from standing stability quite a bit. x_x Am I doing something wrong? Is it just because they're so new?

    31. Are they matched to the left and right feet? I often put on doll shoes backwards :o

    32. I didn't even think of that, they just looked the same so I figured... >_>
      How do you tell?

    33. I kick off my own shoes and look at the bottoms :0 But even if they are the same, sometimes the fit will be a tiny bit different if they are swapped.

    34. Oh those shoes... Unfortunate the Evol body does not stand well in those as they will forever have the tendency to fall forwards. The center of gravity is toward the front of body and the way they balance has a lot to do with the legs. So you need flat flat shoes for that body. Or else you need a stand to support it always. The best are Iplehouse shoes coz they are completely flat, or Freedom Tellers. I found rRabit boots that just fit the feet. Dollmore shoes should do well too because they're flat too.
Steer clear from Sunny's World. I got all the big feet shoes and my guy couldn't wear anything because he would just fall forwards.

    35. Oh god, I always thought I was the only one who did that :sweat
I once posted a full shooting with swapped shoes, my friends got a good chuckle from that.
Once had to wake up my girlfriend in the middle of the night to ask if I put on the shoes the right way (was preparing a shooting that was very focussed on the doll's shoes).
I am so bad at this :doh

      @sadistic_x_blood
Your Neptune is to die for!
Love the combination, wish Dollstown would make custom colors.

    36. I had the same issue with those boots so my guy does not wear them either. :(

    37. Oh, that's too bad then. ._. Well, good to know.

    38. @yuan_mdx -- Thanks for the detailed info! I'm looking for boots that go up to the calves, I couldn't find any of those on Freedom Teller and rRabit. The three (one of which isn't out yet) that Iplehouse has seems to have a heel. Do you happen to know if those balance out "flat", or would they have the same issues as the boots I just got have?

    39. @sno4wy, what would happen if you put some moleskin on the soles in front, to sort of tip him back in the boots? (If it doesn't work you can peel it off)
@Ara I see I am in very fine company with my shoe problem :)

      • x 1
    40. @fishcake - Thanks, I'll try that! :D Man I was feeling so sad about these boots because I have a whole elaborate outfit planned around them, so I was (preemptively) crushed about them being imbalanced. :pout: Sometimes it's hard to pick right back up and go, "I can fix it!", so thanks for providing that impetus for me!

    41. I hope it works! if it shows you might be able to color it black with a marker, too.

      • x 1
    42. @sno4wy - just had an idea. If you're bent on boots that high, maybe put a bit of blu-tac at the front so it balances the shoe?
I've only tried him out on those army boots from iple, which does have a heal but he stands pretty well in them.

      • x 1
    43. @yuan_mdx -- I'll definitely put that on the list of things to try! Thanks so much for the suggestion!

    44. I finished the base coat on both my V-01s this morning before a hectic day of loading up granddaughter stuff for Austin and driving there in prep for BJDC. Boys be chilling half done on the board until I get back.

    45. Have fun in Austin! I wish I could have gone this year.

    46. I have a funny story to relate that also speaks to the amount of detail in Crocus' sculpting.

I was teasing my husband about being squeamish about resin male genitalia, so prove that he wasn't, he stroked the male part of my evol body. Then, he curled up and buried his face in the pillow while I asked him what was wrong and that I thought he was proving to me that he wasn't squeamish about it. He replied that he wasn't until he felt it and realized that it was "sculpted".

I actually hadn't realized this, as I hadn't examined it, but his reaction piqued my curiosity so I did, and found that he was right. XD It even has a little slit at the tip. XDDDD

    47. @ snowo4wy The girls are sculpted too ;)

    48. @SteamWitch have fun in Austin! Take pictures for us! :D
@sno4wy that is so cute!! LOL everything is very detailed, as it should be!

    49. @fishcake I will, this time I actually have a good camera and a better camera on my phone.

    50. @sno4wy - Aww! Yeah, even the Nuevo has that. I became very well acquainted with Iwan's while I was blushing him. XD Discovered my two smaller DollShe's had it as well only yesterday when I flipped on upside down to inspect his legs (because he will not stand at all, argh!)

      • x 1
    51. Gotta love that attention to detail *cough* Soom is the same, if I'm remembering correctly. My old MG body was very, um, accurate.

@Quiet and Insane- Your 18M boy won't stand? What do you have? The Pure body? Is he sueded?

    52. Pure body. I found what the problem was anyway, the knot in the elastic was caught on a hook and now he's behaving himself. Little bastard. Figures though...that's not the body I intended him to have so naturally he's protesting. :| He should just be happy he's even got a body in the first place. Otherwise he'd be doomed to be a floating head forever. While on that train of thought...I wonder what a Venitu head would look like on an Evol body? Pure is too scrawny and there's a sizable neck gap.

    53. Ah! Glad you figured out the problem, @Quiet and Insane !

Venitu might work on an Evol body? I think he's got a 13.5 neck hole though. I thought the issue with putting that head on another body was more about how it sat on the neck than neck size? Seems like every one who attempts a hybrid with that noggin has issues. You could always epoxy the neck hole. Then he'll fit on whatever body you fancy. I wonder if Magic Clay would work as a removable neck mod? I keep meaning to try that...

    54. Venitu does have a massive neck hole. He'll fit on EID and 28M bodies no problem, but neither of those bodies have the vague dorito-shape I'm looking for. Hence why I was curious about the Evol. I guess I could always just wait until I get my Neptune a body and find out then. Epoxy could potentially work...though I'd prefer not to mod if I have to. Serves me right for not buying a Timeless body when I had the chance. :...(

    55. @Quiet and Insane - Someone posted a comparison thread of the Venitu with another body a while back. Because the position of the neck hole is very far back on the Venitu, it looked quite ridiculous. Here are a few pics I found online of a Venitu on a Spiritdoll Proud body. I'ld say that the neck either needs to be very long or a donut will be required.

    56. my venitus are packed up, but grabbed a couple pics of goohwa on Evol. (posted on Flickr - link in sig - sorry haven't figured out how to post pics here via phone). technically it fits, but needs a lift, I think, unless you want the body builder look...

    57. @yuan_mdx - Yeah, I had a feeling that was going to be the case. Thank you for that.

@ATYL - Hmm yeah I'd definitely lift it up a little. Thank you for the comparison!

    58. @fishcake I was a fail at taking photos, sorry, and one doll was scarred. I only bought two wigs but I saw a bunch of people I met from Doll Akon last years but no photos. It was smaller than last year and not as crowded. Kind of disappointing. But still there was tons of cool stuff.
