☆~~ Granado Doll Discussion Part 10 ~~☆

Mar 8, 2015

1. @Jany: *starts to feed her 'special doll' chocolate* If that doesn't work... *starts mentally throwing rubber balls at your customs office AND in the office*
It's one of the few times I'm glad to be back in Austria and didn't get into the hobby until I returned home u.u These waiting times and GSKS SUCK! And would drive me crazy.
derilan85: They do take layaway for parts as well as far as I remember.

2. I'm grateful not to have to pay customs on dolls in the US. It almost makes up for our healthcare system. ;)

3. :D I may have a chance to get her as well as another head they have (fingers, toes and eyes crossed!)

4. Yay, I hope so! :)

5. Thanks, guys ... trying to stay patient. *noms the special chocolate*

derilan, good luck! It would be so cool if you could get her :daisy

edit - I'm such a dork sometimes. I guess the parcel services are possibly still on strike, or haven't caught up with the backlog ... it might not be customs' fault after all :doh Goes to show, dolly deprivation makes me unable to think straight *_*

6. Snowy - I think I will! XD

I'm rather glad that we only get charged customs fees for imports worth over $1000, but I think our government is going to change it to anything over $100, which is rubbish given the state of the Aussie dollar at the moment.

7. Ara* - Oh yes! One of my favorite perks of having big dolls, is that they get to wear the big patterned fabrics! Our xtal actually made that whole outfit! I think I would lose interest half way through.
xtal - He has silicone chunks embedded into his joints here and there. They do a great job helping him pose!
Quiet and Insane - Oooo! Let us know if you do show your friend the photo! I'd like to know how he reacted. ^_^ Maybe he'll want one now. ;)
derilan85 - It's definitely an amount threshold. I think it's $400? I did a lay away on Joe's head plus the suit and gun set. It was just over $400 for the lot.
Jany - I hope that strike ends SOON! What a frustrating chance your doll just happened through at this time. :(

Thanks to everyone on the comments on Joe and Patrick! Joe definitely outshines Patrick, but that's because Joe has the company faceup. ;) I could never get Patrick to look that good on my own!

8. I don't suppose it would do any good to kick up a fuss? I mean, there must be others who are less than thrilled with the idea of paying more ransom to the government and would want to get out the pitchforks. . . I mean petitions. :sneaky

Ah! As I recall, Dollshe has those in their 28M line. Cool! :D

Heh. . . Here I was a bit worried those clothes might be too small. :sweat Sewing is fairly fun and I can get it done relatively quickly. It the finishing, tying off the threads and hiding the tails, that trips me up.

9. YOU GUYS! Whining helps ... guess who's finally home! Wheeeee! :dance I'd sing, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm sick and have no voice ...

10. I just got a mail that my Uranus (and the second Pancho head) was shipped!
Wow, what a timing, had thought about writing them the next week but this is of course way better :D

Now to hoping that I will like the inbetween color and everything is correct with the order.
I received the uniform for my Uranus a few days ago, the Sadol Green Beret set...took a last picture of my Saint in it and edited very sloppily the Uranus' face on it for fun.
Please look as good in real life :eusa_pray

Congrats Jany!
GDSK hell now starts for me, again, soon too Dx

11. Congrats on the shipping notice! If you're lucky, the postal service strike is over by the time your boys get home ...

I only did a quick skin tone check - the match with Iple's old RS is pretty close, the RS is a wee bit darker, but easily blushable :D Pics coming soon.

12. aernath - Don't worry, I'll let you know if I do ever show him the photo. He does live about five hours away in a remote location so that may take a while. But I'd love to see him with a Titan as a mini-me. XD

xtal - There's several people that have already been making a bit of noise but I doubt the government is listening.

Jany - Ooh that's exciting! :D Also, get better soon.

Ara* - Wow your Saint is gorgeous! I really like The Uranus head on it too (and hey, the photoshopping isn't that bad!)

13. Congratulations, Jany! I'm glad your boy is finally free!
Ara* - That suit is glorious!

14. BlitheFool, thank you!

Thanks, Quiet and Insane ... doing my very best. *drowns self in tea*
[ random ] Did you know? Marshmallows help with sore throats ... no idea why or how, but they do. [/ random ]

BO's up! Plus random pic of my two tan boys ;)

15. Jany that tan is close to RS! I can picture it a lot better now, thanks! Also the marshmallow advice is timely. :ablah: I hope you feel better soon, too!

16. @Quiet and Insane: Report back with his reaction when you do ;) And the first one sounds nice. Definitly protest when you can if they want to lower the custom-free amount.

@aernath: I doubt that in my case it's the face-up but more that I like Joe's face-form better :3

@Jany: YES!!!! At long last after all!!!!
Also love the pic. What skin color is your Granado again? (cause this totally doesn't look like my tan O.o)

@Ara*: Congrats :3 Double Trouble incoming <3

17. Jany - Marshmallows? Interesting. Good thing I've got some on hand should I get sick (again) this winter! Their tans look good together! I'm off to have a look at your box opening...and dream of the body that my Mads will get later this year... XD

Snowy - Yeah...not too many people are thrilled by the eventual changes. It's bad enough that shipping out costs an arm and a leg already regardless of value. *_* I'll be sure to let everyone know of Sam's reaction, don't worry.

18. Thanks, guys!
It says tan on the tin ... umm, order sheet. He's my first Granado so I can't compare. All I can say is I really love the colour :D
fishcake, thanks, you too apparently!

19. Jany, congratulations! And thanks for the marshmallow tip, I can use that too. ;)

Ara, your Saint is lovely!

20. Jany - Sooooo... does that include Peeps? ;) What a fun fact! I will definitely give that a go the next time I have a sore throat! My husband hates marshmallows, but I wonder if he'd be willing to try the next time he gets sick. He gets sick more often than I do.
And CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a long wait after the shipping! Hopefully that will be the longest you ever have to wait. Man.
Off to see the BO. (heh heh ... not Body Odor, I hope ;) )
xtal - It's that hiding the threads thing that makes me prefer hand sewing over the machine. The machine makes soooo many loose ends! It frustrates me because then I take twice the time it took to sew the bits together, taking care of the loose ends! :x
Ara* - Oooo! Wow! I had to look twice to see the difference in the photos! They both look smashing! NICE!
I got that uniform too. It was just so... mmmmmmm! I couldn't resist. ^_^

21. Resin odor ;) I could smell that even through my stuffy nose ...
Thanks. I'm really glad he's finally home! Bad luck to have a doll in transit while the postal service and its workers decide to throw a temper tantrum ...
I'm still a bit underwhelmed, all things considered, but I was expecting that. It's always the same with me and blank dolls. Doing their faceups, making their wigs, watching my OC come to life ... that's when the real magic happens :aheartbea I'll be trying my hand at facial hair for the first time, I'm excited and a bit nervous :sweat

22. Ooh, do show us progress photos Jany! I love watching the transformation from a blank doll to something amazing and individual. :)

23. I just uploaded a WIP pic in the box opening thread. He's far from finished, but this sculpt is such fun to paint! He's bald and lash-less and needs his proper eyes (eep), but he's already channeling his grumpy self :D

24. Jany he looks wonderful--he's probably glad to be home! I took an extra photo besides the reference for the elbow and I liked it, so here it is:

I hope that Crocus does do a "muscular" replacement for the Nuevo--it's such a great size and sometimes you need someone heftier than the Lads.

25. Jany, he's looking good already! It's fun watching them come to life.

fishcake, love the artistic lighting in your photo. :)

26. Thank you both! I guess he is, at that. :)

fishcake, yummeh, Coppersmith eye candy :D

27. Hey everyone! I just put an order on an Agent Mads head, and am super excited over this guy OuO I've been looking into Granado over the years I've been in the hobby but haven't had the courage or the funds for one of my own, but finally! He's going to be this tough bodyguard for one of my other dolls, so I'm really looking forward getting him home, giving him black sunglasses, a good looking suit, an ear piece and a gun tightly pressed against his chest under the jacket xD So yeah, hi! xD

28. Alewife thank you :D
Jany I hope you will post more of Uranus here as he comes along!
indigoparaflax what fun! I can't wait to see him, Mads seems perfect for that role!

29. @indigoparaflax: Welcome to the dark side ;)
I'm sure you'll enjoy your Mads.

Also thank you very much guys!
I really hope the package arrives here fast, after the last one nearly travelled around for a month and spend most of this time in China.
Really crossing my fingers that the body still fits into that outfit ;_;

30. indigoparaflax, welcome to the thread! I look forward to seeing your tough bodyguard. :)

Ara, I hope you won't have the same ordeal this time!

31. fishcake - ooooo! What a lovely shot! Sexy! :aheartbea
indigoparaflax - If E.T. is any indication, you're going to ROCK Mads! Can't wait to see him!
Ara* - Yes! Hopefully this one comes straight home, with no sightseeing along the way.

32. aernath it's just that red hair ;)

33. I actually just got a mail from the GDSK that they got my package :o
Well, that was...scaringly fast.
I can probably expect the package now on monday or tuesday, yay!

34. Congrats! That was lightning fast :o Hope you get them soon!

35. fishcake - heh heh... It certainly doesn't hurt! ;)

Ara* - Yay!!! Making up for last time, I suspect!

36. What a lovely angle fishcake. ;)
indigoparaflax - I see you've been felled by the charms of Mads as I was (only mine's a scientist). I can't wait to see your secret agent!

Speaking of Mads...I finally got the courage to attempt Iwan's face up. It's still far from finished, but I'm really happy with how it's turned out so far, given it's only the fourth face up I've ever done (and the first realistic one at that!) So, what do you all think so far?

37. Oh my, such a sweet welcome from you all! OuO You're all much too kind <3 And I've been going through the thread now, which is much easier without feeling oh so jealous of all the beautiful dolls, having one of my own on its way home, and gosh, so many gorgeous dolls ;____; <3

Quiet and insane - he's looking fantastic :D The scar goes really well together with his tough look and the eyebrows are delicious :3

38. Quiet and Insane you need to come up here and do all my eyebrows from now on. :aheartbea

39. indigoparaflax - Thank you so much! My hands were shaking trying to get those damn eyebrows just right. XD The scar will be getting more detail to make it look a little more...raw I suppose.

fishcake - Ahh...it's a long way to travel! XD But thank you!

40. We're up to the post limit! Let me see if I can get us a new thread!
