I'm especially pleased how Nihlus and Virgil turned out, even thought I originally had Virg's visuals completely differently planned.

Hello all, popping in here because though I have yet to own a Granado sculpt, I'm really keen on getting a Jaden head (well, keen is putting it mildly, he is the closest thing I have to a grail doll right now haha). Though, I'm, in a bit of a bind because I don't know what colour to get him in.

For sure, I want him to be a darker colour, so at the moment, I'm contemplating between bronze and sunshine, because tan looks too pale for me (as far as I've seen in pictures, at least). But I can't seem to decide between those two because I don't know if either can be matched with tans offered by other companies (specifically, Islanddoll Tan or Sunburned, Ringdoll Tan or Loongsoul French Tan).

I would honestly prefer to get bronze, but if Sunshine is even 75% of a resin match with any of those 3 companies, I'd be amendable to getting sunshine instead.

I don't suppose anyone could give me some advice or shed some light on my predicament? >A<

 

@Snowy: Paperwork has been sent out, no idea when he'll actually get here (and whether or not I'll be there to sign for him) ... customs is a nuisance at the best of times, but this GDSK hassle is the worst.

[MENTION=26862]Ara*[/MENTION] on this board has an Andrew that Island Doll did a resin matched body for. Hers is Bronze, I think? Not sure about Loongsoul or Ringdoll.

aernath - Hmm, that does look quite disproportionate on the EID body. But that Leeel body...ooh that looks quite passable with a longer wig!

Yeah, resin matching is my last option if none of the bodies have a close enough resin match to Sunshine. I'd prefer to get one of those companies'standard tan because I'd rather not have tp ship a piece out to them. >A<;; I'm really scared something would go wrong in the mail and such.

 

AlekInexelsis the Bronze is really close to Iplehouse Light Brown so it seems to be a bit more standard than the Sunshine, but in the end you can always blush things and that way you can get the body shape you want. It just depends on whether the shape or the color is more important to you. Aernath has a lot of beautiful Sunhine boys and I have had a Bronze girl (and I am getting another one) so whichever one you choose will look nice.

 

@fishcake Isn't Iple rather far when it comes to matching french resin tans? It's more the body that matters to me, which is why I'm asking for which of my options is closest without needing to be a direct match.

Honestly, I really want the Loongsoul B-01 body, so I was hoping to figure out which of Granado's darker colours would be closest to the LS french tan. Yes I can blush it, but it'd really help if I could already pick the colour closest to it so it wouldn't be as difficult a stretch. xD;;

I was able to find a comparison of Angell Studio, LoongSoul & Ringdoll, which kinda helps in letting me know what's more brownish and what's more orange-ish, but I don't really know whether I should just base what I see here and what I see on Granado's official comparison photo of their resin colours and hope for the best. >3<

 

Man, I wish I could help you out with this! I've got a minor LoongSoul addiction but the only Granado resin I have is NS (which I need to stop being lame and get the body for ) I won't be able to give you a very helpful comparison

If I really can't figure out the answer by the time Jaden's sale comes up in a few days, I'll probably just get him in bronze & suck it up and get an Islanddoll or Impldoll body and just pay to send a piece to get them to make a custom colour. >3< I really want the Loongsoul body, but I also get really annoyed when the resin is too different in colour, so better be safe than sorry.

(I blame this all on Granado for discontinuing the Nuevo body. Hahahaha jk)

I'd get him in the color you really like best, because IslandDoll DOES resin match, as does Loongsoul. Also Ringdoll has offered resin matching, so all you need to do is check if the necks would work.

As I used to have a Loongsoul tan I think sunshine MIGHT work. But I can only go by what I've seen the sunshine to look like on pics. Also there is no guarante that the LS tan is still the same. They did change the color of ns-y without any notice (as I had to realize this year -.-).
Ringdoll tan is unlikely to match (going by Granado pics of sunshine).

I'd really invest in a resin matching service if Granado doesn't have a body that works for your character :3 Better some $ more spent and have the doll you really want and like, than settle with something less :3

Maybe you can also contact Granado and ask if they can send some 'garbage'/rest pieces (from the production process) of the color you want with the head in the color you want, so you can send that out? Or maybe purchase jointed hands and use that.

[MENTION=65597]AlekInexelsis[/MENTION] - Well, this will be just semi-educated guessing, but I had the opportunity to compare Granado's Tan and Angell Studio's Sun Tanned before, which can tie in to the comparison you found:

You said you want something darker - well, Granado's Sunshine is not really darker then their Tan, it's just a more vivid, orangey tone that is not easy to match. Granado's Tan itself is a fair match to Iplehouse's Special Real Skin (much better in real life than on my picture, while the Angell Studio head was far worse in real life).

Based on the pictures, I'd say that Granado's Bronze is far too dark for either Loongsoul, Ringdoll or AS. Loongsoul seems to be in the vicinity of Granado's Tan, maybe a little darker and (yellower?). Since it is always easier to blush a lighter color to match a darker, if you're set on going with a default tan color for a body, I'd maybe try Loongsoul with Granado's Tan color and blush the head to match. But if you're picky about color match, I think going the custom color way, and getting the desired Bronze head would be the best route

This picture is a little washed out, but the head is Islanddoll sunburned and the body is Granado sunshine (in the old resin). Both head and body are several years old, so your mileage may vary.

I have to tell you petiteballerine that is the most gorgeous face-up - and I like the two different color eyes. ( I had a GSD once who had one blue and one brown eye - why not your bjjd?)

thanks everyone. jo: I have a few dolls with mismatched eyes. that's why I can't find the other light brown one right now.
he's based on a character in one of my favorite movies. I want him to be quite ordinary. his life is pretty dramatic. so I gave him Unoa B-el's browns for now.

fishcake: I tie shoes together! otherwise; chaos.

aernath: Dollclans Kien just wouldn't let go!!

I tried Beni on my Akagi white body & I like the sloping shoulders for him, so I ordered a normal skin Akagi 66cm body for him. very inexpensive.

he has such a tiny face & not much head bulge to keep anything on, so I made his wig. he's high-maintenance! but, I really love him.

now I need to paint his lover, Fogi. (Dollclans Benkel) since Beni's facepaint is many-layered & realistic, it looks like more frantic, frustrated, late-night work ahead. (wonder if Crocus would do his eyebrows & lashes? no, guess not)

 

The high-maintenance ones are the best

Thank you all so much for the help! ;w; I've been mulling it over a lot these past few days and it's really something that I was indecisive about so all your comments have been a great help.

The revelation that LS does resin matching took the cake though and I feel like that basically cemented my decision to just go with what I really really want which is Bronze, rather than compromising. (The comparison pic with the Angell Studio suntan & you guys saying that sunburn is not much darker than tan helped too, because what I'd really hate is to be disappointed it was too pale. Which is exactly what happened with my Angell Studio tiny >3>)

Now all I have to do is get in touch with Loongsoul to find out the specifics of their resin matching and get the price, and then I'll be super ready to order Jaden in bronze when his sales period comes up.

Oh, my goodness, [MENTION=48]petiteballerine[/MENTION]! He's gorgeous! I like Akagidoll bodies for Grando boys. I have 2 that have them. Mine are the taller versions though. The 66cm one does look quite handsome from the photos I've seen.

AlekInexelsis, I've already answered your Tumblr post about your issue.
My Andrew actually turned out to be tan in the end (Granado send me the wrong color and I found out after I got a doll that was definitely bronze, oops), and yeah, I got mine color matched too.
With tan it's especially tricky because it varies a lot more in tone than let's say WS or companies who aim for Volks NS matches, even among one batch.
So matching tan from two different companies can be pretty much a nightmare if you don't know that they use the same casting company (Islanddoll for example uses Weiju, who's pretty popular among chinese companies) and can precisely say what color they currentely have and how it looks like.

I have two tan hybrids, one with color matched body because the first made and still makes me so mad I didn't try that a second time...and the first time I actually had someone who told me the match was A+ and owned it too, turns out that inbetween them getting their body and me ordering the same (which was only a few weeks) the company had changed their tan formula.

I know I said I wasn't going to freak out, but it's about time my guy made it home. He's been stuck in customs for two weeks! Release him already!

 

I bought Jaden! I just got the head for now and will get the body later, maybe around Christmas. I'm thinking about getting the Lads Plus, but who knows. I might end up with something different. We shall see!

Now, if they re-release Fabio I'm getting him, too. I'm just going to start a Granado head collection. haha... maybe give them a body to share. LOL

Thanks, all - I sure hope he gets here soon! Stuff from China usually gets stopped at the airport (because they use a different carrier), while Korean stuff gets all the way to the closest customs office. Having them stuck at the airport means sending out all the extra paperwork, plus not knowing what the customs people do to thems in the meantime ... also, needing to be home when they actually arrive. Not so much fun.

I wish. I honestly don't know what their problem is, they've had all the paperwork they claim they need for a week or more. They have my mobile number. If there was an issue, they could have contacted me no problem ... no "attempted delivery" note, no nothing. Seriously, if it's always this much of a hassle to get one's hands on a Granado, I might need to stick to buying second-hand or join non-Germany-based GOs ...

 

Sorry to hear that Jany, I was gonna ask if Granado did layaway with doll parts ( heads, body only..etc) but I guess they don't. I NEED Venus head.....if only I can win the lottery then I could get all my dollie dreams come true.
