Arthur Theodore Connor

Maker:
Dollshe
Head Sculpt:
Grant Phillippe
Skintone:
Fresh
Body:
Dollshe 28M
Sex:
Male
  • Modifications artist(s):
    https://www.instagram.com/snow.lili_bjd/
    Date of acquisition:
    21-11-2019
    Provenance:
Ordered directly from Dollshe in 2019.
    Reason for choice:
I liked the Grant Phillippe sculpt at the time when I bought it, but had no real plans for the doll.
    Best Points:
Gorgeous body, I love the musculature and I have a weak spot for the 28M feet. He also fits into ID75 clothes, which is a blessing.
    Worst Points:
    Floppy legs, general Dollshe-yuckiness.
I was aware of the issues with Dollshe at the time of purchase, yes, and I was also stupid enough to buy a doll from Dollshe anyway. Somehow the doll gods smiled at me with every Dollshe purchase because all 3 dolls I got came within 6 months after ordering. So hereby I pass on my Dollshe luck to you who reads this and is also waiting for one of their dolls.

  • Favourite colours:
    Blacks, charcoals, whites, greys
    Fashion style(s):
    Sleek suits, tailored clothes, lingerie.
    Key fashion accessory:
    Ties
Arthur's preferred look is a suit, because it makes him feel confident and sophisticated. It makes him look serious... were it not for his tie collection, which have the whole rainbow of colors and funky prints.
  • Name story:
I love Arthurian legends, and for his second name I wanted it to be Theodore so his mom had an extra cute reason to call him "Teddy" as a kid.
    Character age:
    33
    Character gender:
    Male
    Offsite roleplay:
This doll's character is available for offsite roleplay.
Arthur Theodore Connor was born with a birth defect that gave him no facial features and ears, and his skin was pure black (he was born from two American white people and does not consider himself part of the Black community). Nothing else is really "wrong" with him and his parents kept him away from doctors except the usual, necessary visits to monitor how he was developing etc, because they didn't want their son to be stuck in doctors offices his whole life.
Arthur was a very artsy child, always drawing etc, and when he was old enough to use his mom's sewing machine, he started making clothes for his dolls and plushies. He had a knack for it and his parents very much encouraged it.
He did okay in school, got bullied but his folks were very on top of taking care of it. It made him somewhat of a loner as a teen, especially because he was also the only boy in the sewing club. It never stopped him from chasing his passion, and as a young adult he got an internship with Slick magazine, a magazine for men's fashion and lifestyle. He often wore his own made suits to work (he had to tail the CEO for a while and he asked him to look the part) and that got noticed and praised. After his internship was done, the CEO asked Arthur to come work for Slick when he finished school.
    So that's what Arthur did.

A big part of why he enjoys sewing so much is because his skin (and this is a big part of his mutation) can mimic textures. He can't become a material, but his skin can feel like it. So it makes him very happy to find new types of textures and kind of "collect" them to mimic them at other times. He CANNOT mimic actual skin -- the closest he can get is silicone. This mutation means he mostly walks through life with silk, velvet or stone skin.

His clothing got noticed while he interned and once he was actually hired, he got the opportunity to show his designs to some prominent people and one thing led to another.

When the CEO of Slick magazine got sick, he passed the position on to Arthur (who had by then secured the job as his personal assistant for a few years). And with Arthur making the final decisions, he blew new, modern life into the magazine. After about 2 years as the new CEO who's identity had never been confirmed, he finally gave an interview for Vogue magazine and that was the first time he got huge public attention and a lot of it positive.

(Originally Arthur was an OC in the X-men universe, so this was also a huge step for mutantkind to have such a successful mutant in such an influencing position, but Arthur honestly didn't even know he was a category of mutant until he got invited to one of their galas. He is a so-call Ypsilon-level mutant: his mutation is extremely visible but has no combat value whatsoever).

As a child, other kids tended to be frightened of Arthur because he had no face and was such an intense black color, so he took on the soft, fluffy texture of his favorite teddy bear and this is how his mother came to call him "Teddy".

SUCH a cool doll. I've been hoping someone would produce a line of featureless-faced male dolls since Nihilum started making female featureless-faced dolls (...haven't found one, sadly). You & the modification artist have done an incredible job turning a Grant Philippe into a really unique doll.

I love everything about this. I used to draw an angelic OC a lot as a kid and he didn’t have a face, just like your Arthur here. I haven’t thought about him in years, so this was very nostalgic for me. I love your styling of him and his amazing back story!

He is so cool! So...how was the face modded? Was he just sanded smooth or was he epoxied or something? Or is it a costume of sorts? He's quite the interesting guy!

My friend filled his face in with I believe apoxie, she also gave him a slightly less pointy jawline! Then sanded smooth and dyed (and partly airbrushed, since the dye didnt take as well everywhere)
