Zaoll Discussion Thread - Part four!

Unfortunately my clothes closet is so stuffed I have to store my own floofy dress in a suitcase. Most of my doll clothes are in one of those tierded drawer bins, but the floofy dresses won't fit. They need to not be squished too, otherwise you have to steam or iron them whenever you get them out since the silk tissue taffeta likes to wrinkle or wilt if you let it get smooshed. Clearly I need to just move into my own house so I have more than one room for storage of things.

@TatterPunk - Moving into your own house will only help so much...Once the doll stuff feels the extra room, it expands exponentially.

I see you got the ballet feet. Yay! Are you able to find ballet shoes in her size? I have ballet shoes for my Dollmore Ballet Kids (MSD size).

 

I haven't gotten any for her yet, but I do have plans to actually attempt to make some. It seems that it should work a little easier than regular shoes anyway. . . we'll see when I finally have some time to work on things for myself. T___T whenever that happens. And yes, the doll stuff WILL expand exponentially, but I think I'm okay with this.

Talking of which, does anyone have any recommendation on heel feet for the basic Zaoll Body?
One of my girls is using the old Supia body heels at the moment (and my Supia has 2D doll feet, in turn). these 2D high heel feet are gorgeous in shape but just too wide in their ankles for the Zaolls.

Does anyone know if these feet would be alright? They look rather slim/narrow

Does anyone know if other hands (like senior delf) can fit zaoll? I know delf hands do, but i'm curious about others!!

 

Hello! I'm curious, has anyone tried putting a Zaoll head (preferably Ramie) on a Dream Valley 51cm boy body? I wonder if proportions of such hybrid would be okay...

I also thought I'd share some photos of my Zaoll Dreaming Luv, Mitsuki!

@WhiteWitch I know it’s been a while since your post about it, but I do actually have both a Zaoll girl (Muse) and a Dream Valley 51cm body. I haven’t tried putting the head on the body, but I have a picture of them next to each other from when someone asked me for some comparison pictures of the DV body with other dolls.



Do note that my Zaoll is in platform heels in this picture so she’s quite tall at that moment. xD

The DV body is very skinny in comparison—he can actually wear a lot of my slim mini items, he’s just too tall for most of it.

 

Does anyone know if these hands would work with the zaoll body?

I have those hands, I can try them when I’m back in town. They won’t match tho. Zaoll resin is very pink and Luts is not.

Dollmore has listed the Trinity Elysia on the smaller Zaoll body! And as a basic doll!

 

Just to let you know, Dollmore NS (other than the one for Lusion and Trinity) is no longer pink NS, it is yellow NS.
Here are two Zaoll heads to illustrate it, the pink on left is from 2015 and the yellow on right is from 2022:

 

Thank you so much for posting this! I asked Dollmore and Abby confirmed the change in color for the Zaoll dolls but offered to pour my order in the old pink or white! I chose the old pink!

 

@nancy_schroeder_ca You're welcome! I was very startled when I got the deaming luv in NS yellow. Both Luv and deaming Luv are second hand. Now I don't know what to do, because both heads were meant for only one character, and I don't know if I need to keep the NS pink or the NS yellow (I don't have the body yet). But luckily enough, I discovered it before getting my newer order from Dollmore! I ordered new hands that I need in NS pink ^^'
Like you, I was able to change my order's color.

 

The heads are available separately. Maybe you should order a head or a whole doll if you need a body in the color you like!

 

I received an email from Dollmore that my Elysia on the Zaoll body has shipped! They also said the website has bee renewed and customers need to change their password on the new site. There are directions on the site!

 

Nancy, thank you for the heads-up about password changing! I noticed a couple weeks ago that the Dollmore website had been updated, but hadn't "tested" it yet. Trying not to be tempted into using the 15% off coupon, lol!

 

@Follow-the-Wind thank you for the info on the resin colour change. I’ve ordered Dreaming Luv 10 days ago and just found about this.

I emailed Dollmore and they’ve agreed to pour my doll in old pink. Useful if I ever decide to find regular Luv head secondhand

 

It's a lucky day for me! Not only I got confirmation that my Dreaming Luv will ship on Monday but I have also received my second-hand regular Luv head in white [an impulse buy, long story below].

So at the end of 2022 I managed to find my grail doll head [DC Christina] - I ordered for her new body in WS.
It turned out DC has changed their white resin again in late 2022 into more paper-white...and in the meantime I found for Christina second-hand body with a matching resin.

Once the WS body arrived I was so shocked at how white is actually was...totally off the cream/ivory tone my Christina is. So it never left the box.
Few months later I fell in love with Zaoll Luv but I could not stop thinking of the poor white body trapped in a box. Typically for this hobby, when you are waiting for one doll, you fall in love with another... So here I am, with white Zaoll, matching 100% to my DC WS body and looking smoking hot!

Oooh very cool hybrid! She looks great. Always fun when the doll fates work out for you bahaha. Happened with me when I bought an Iplehouse Louis mistaking it for Freezia and ended up loving the sculpt once it arrived and found a body for her straight away secondhand. Ended up becoming one of my favorite dolls of my crew.

What kind of faceup you thinking of getting done on your new gal?

 

Thank you! To be honest I am sort of in between - not in the hobby long enough and confident to send her out to an artist and definitely nowhere skilled enough to give her my own face-up. I see her with something bold but also pastels? It would be fun to style Luv into android/futuristic type of girl!

 

Ahhh gotcha. It can definitely be a little scary sending doll heads/parts out to be painted the first time around. Maybe you’d be able to find someone local that paints dolls?

Maybe that will be my next step in the dolly journey, yes For now I'm too excited to have my dolls to send them away, haha! And not enough time/motivation to practive face-ups And yes, it would be so cool to have her look straight out of Cyberpunk or Blade Runner

 

Second Lucky Friday in a row! My Dreaming Luv came in today [let's not mention the dreaded customs fees though...]. I have a really mixed feelings about her now and it's not to say I don't like her. She's just so different than my Doll Chateau crew. The body seems to be really old-fashioned in terms of joint engineering and so her posing is limited - that was to be expected as I looked at many owner photos.

What I was not not expecting though are really visible seams on her inner arms and legs and not-that-smooth resin all over - I did not order extra sanding, so probably sth I'll do myself at some point? I do have dolls which are more toothy than the other, but she just seems a bit unfinished to me.

I do love the face-up, old pink resin and size! She's so much more managable than my 66cm to 70cm giants. I think she'll grow on me. Off to search for some clothes for her and I may edit this post later on to add some photos

EDIT: some photos below. She's wonderful but due to her small eye sockets it;s hard to photograph her! I've taken closer look and I think head is from a different resin batch than her torso? The difference is especially jarring at the back and at first I thought this is due to face-up - sealants tend to make resin lighter. I asked Dollmore to pour my order in old pink and now I wonder if the head is perhaps the new yellow type? The mismatch is more visible depending on light and angle, but it's definitely there and is actually worse than three of my hybrid dolls... I do have one more Zaoll SH head in normal on order, from 2021, so hopefully will be able to compare both.

EDIT 2: She's wired?! Is this standard for Dollmore dolls? I'm more than confused now

And yes, wiring seems to be standard for dollmore dolls. I've gotten a handful of them either new or second hand, and all of them came wired.

 

@silmaryel - mine came wired too! I was a little shocked by that. I need to go take pictures. She's old-fashioned, sure (single-joint elbows and knees), but she's so darn beautiful.

 

@MaleficentMrsofEvil I'd love to see more Luvs! Yes, I appreciate her more and more, really glad to have her. She's wearing some unused clothes while I plan and save for outfit I really want her to wear. It shows how bizzare Zaoll size is...
Vest is for Minifee size, pants are for my giant 72cm Doll Chateau boy, wig is 8-9 so probably size too big, and socks are for MSD too One thing I know for sure - mine is a short-haired girl

Had no idea they came wired now! I got mine in 2010, I think, and no wiring. He's always been kinda floppy lol

 

Hey quick question, are their other heads compatible with zaoll bodies?

 

That's a tough one to answer, I think. All of the Dollmore heads I have are face-plate style and tend to run a little small, but the sizes vary a lot.
I have a Glamour Model Eve Emile head - the neck opening is so tiny, the only body I have that she fits is a Doll Chateau Y-body-06.

I also have a Model F Eva Louise. She would "fit" in the sense that the neck opening would fit the neck, but her head is a bit bigger than a Zaoll's, so the proportions wouldn't work.

 

I cannot answer directly but I've put my zaoll head on a vito (souldoll) body, so I'd say the souldoll vito heads are compatible ?

 

Dollmore has put Zaoll heads on the Judith body and Zaoll and Ramie have both been offered on the Glamor Eve body. I don't have a glamor Eve body but I do have heads that were originally Issued on the Judith body that I can try on the Zaoll body. A lot of the Ballerina kid and Kid heads also seem to float around to the Judith body.

I have Souldoll Vitos also!

 

Hi, popping in with a question. Does Dollmore respond to requests for blank head pictures? I'm interested in s Zaoll Alexia as the younger sister of my future (hopefully this month!) Venitu. But, I'm kinda sculpt-blind when dolls have faceup and I like to do tons of mockups to pass time. Do they offer those?

 

Huh. I didn't even realize Alexia was an available sculpt. Dollmore abby is very tolerant of my emailed questions, and the worst thing she can say is no, right? [email protected]

 

It looks like she was a limited full set, but her head is available in the parts section. Though I don't see a listing for the body. And you're right! I'll steel my nerves and email them about it

Here's my Zaoll Luv with her Dollmore family - and the traitor.


The traitor (Flynn) must have been a doll collector in a previous life. He cuddles with all of my dolls regularly - but my Trinity is his favorite.

Oh, forgot to mention - that's a Zaoll Dreaming Luv head on a Dream Valley B56-04 body in front. Zaoll heads are my hybrid ace in the hole. They hybrid with darn near everything.

I persuaded them. I asked them to do her and then they wished to see if she is popular or not. So I made a survey on instagram and facebook and told them that some people liked the post. They asked me what kind of face up I would give her so I sent them my idea about it and tadaaa.... the dark version is exactly what I suggested.
I am so happy they made her and I am so looking forward receiving her. As you see in my profile-pic, I have the red fanatique Zaoll and love love love her. I had the Trinity Kate but sold her as she was so hard to handle. I love her face so much and now a shrunken dolldream finally comes true.

 

Do any of you have Elysia? I like her "Muse" face.

 

I had an Elysia head- but ended up selling her. I sometimes miss her, it's a beautiful sculpt.

 

Her expression is very dreamy and I think this face can take many different styles. Do you have her photo even without faceup?

 

I'm sorry, I don't have any photos of her unpainted/blank. I do have one of her not wearing a wig- if that's any help..
