Your dolls's name/s: The story behind

Apr 23, 2015

    1. Hello,
I opened this thread to have an archive of all DOA's owner's dolls's names. I dont know if there's already something like this.

(If you prefer, can also add the reason behind the name you choose, or you can write just the names)
      I'll start with mines:

      1. Emily/Strawberry/Aurora (Still indecise between these names, but need a more 'noble' name)
      2. Vanilla (because is kawaii)
      3. Lily (because she is the pure girl )
      4. Nöelle - (saving for) (because she is the fairy of Christmas's festivities)

    2. 1. Justin Jesse Harrison (named after Justin Bieber/Jesse McCartney/George Harrison)
      2. Benjamin Drew Raymond (named after Benjamin Lasnier/Justin Drew Bieber/Usher Raymond)
      3. Parker Sven Lindström (friend chose the name/I chose two Swedish names, after his dad)
      4. Kieran James Murray (chose Irish names I liked)
      5. Dhani David Taylor (Dhani Lennevald/strong Jewish name/always liked Taylor)
      6. Jayden Legend Alvis (Jaden Smith/"I Am Legend"/college friend)
      7. Bailey Jack Knight (Bailey's Irish Cream/Jack Daniels/Jonathan Knight)
      8. Lakin Ashton White (heard it from my old Bratz Boyz's official name/common Australian names)
      9. Derby Kate O'Sullivan (Derby County Football Club/Princess Kate/bar in Memphis)
      10. Niall Eirnin O'Sullivan (Niall Horan/unique Irish name/bar in Memphis)
      11. Daniel Jonathan Carter (Daniel Johns/Jonathan Knight/Nick Carter)
      12. Hailey Elizabeth Grant (liked the names/friend's baby)
      13. Michael Kevin Sennett (Michael Clifford/Macaulay Culkin's character in Home Alone/character in My Girl)
      14. Norma Ellen Sennett (wanted to call her Nori for short/Ellen DeGeneres/character in My Girl)
      15. Joseph Blaine Gordon (Dad's first name/character started as Barbie doll named Blaine Gordon, liked the name so I kept it)
      16. Pharaoh Ay it-netjer (historical figure)

As you can see, I tend to name dolls for celebrities I like mostly, but also for friends, or sometimes because I just like the names.

    3. I theme name my dolls based on a concept. My dolls' character concepts are dolls themselves, animated to life. So, many of their names are doll-themed as well in some way.

      Dolls I own:
Dalia Dalhart (Dalia = doll-ia, dalhart = dollheart)
      Byrne J Dallas (B.J.D., Dallas = doll-as)
Silvir Stirling (sterling silver, silver color theme)
      Candy Cotton (cotton candy theme)

      Dolls in my plans:
Taylor Trinket (Taylor = tailor, trinket = like a toy)
      Marion Knight (marionette)
Charm Minikin (minikin = small, little people)

      Dolls I'm considering:
      Poppy Poppett (puppet)
Inigo Custodio de los Renato Cervantes del Masterman (Inigo = my little one, Custodio = guardian/keeper, Renato = reborn, Cervantes = servant, Masterman = master's man)

EDIT: Marion Ehett changed to Marion Knight after I found an old note to myself; I realized I had a much better last name already picked out for her but I'd forgotten about it! Similarly with 'Omri Masterman', I had a name I wanted to use written down, 'Cervantes', and wanted to use both last names. I ended up deciding to make it one of those ridiculously long, fancy-sounding olde names. I had fun with it.

    4. My crew:

Fawn - arrived from a friend with the name. It fit her perfectly, so I kept it.
Scaramouche - From "Bohemian Rhapsody." Also my nickname for the little black car I drove for twelve years.
Aura - named after a song by the Church
Paisley - Named for the town in Scotland and the print
Tempest - actually came from a passing reference in an online article to a stripper named Tempest Storm - but it was a perfect name for a storm spirit
Zephyr - the Weather Channel put that one in my head by naming a winter storm Zephyr.
Fiona - More or less named herself. She was supposed to be Rhiannon but the name didn't stick.
Devon - named for a pilot on "Hurricane Hunters." I wish I could remember her full name.
Gail - named for musician Gail Ann Dorsey.
Rue - I think I got it from "The Hunger Games," but she's another one who more or less named herself.
Swan - for two of my favorite fictional characters - Swan Prescott from "Swan Song" and Swan Er Hong from "2312."
      Tallulah - after Tallulah Bankhead.
Daisy - suggested by a friend. I think he was actually thinking about the scene at the end of "2001" when HAL goes nuts and starts singing "Daisy Belle." I liked the name, though.
      Hawthorne - after the flower

I have an incoming doll who will be named Rafael - he's going to be Devon's boyfriend and is named for the hurricane the real-life Devon flew her first mission into. He, however, will be a lot more benign than the hurricane was.

      • Nowe: a form of Nowell, means 'dilligent' - because he pretty much is that to the point of uptight
      • Arystar: a corruption of Alastar, Irish form of the Greek name Alexander which means 'one who defends men' - because he's a guardian spirit
      • Ja'far: means 'river', which symbolizes an ever changing/progressing nature.
      • Lysandra: female form of Greek Lysander, 'one who releases men'. In my mind I was originally thinking of just 'lis' which is French for lily initially.
      • Levi: means 'attached', I thought it was appropriate for the kind of affectionate creature Levi is.
      • Nishio: written 西尾with the kanji for 'west' and 'tail', it can be loosely translated to 'hailing from the west'
      • Mephistophelles: a name for the Devil, in the story he is lord Devil's secondborn son.
      • Lucifer: another name for the devil, Lucifer is lord Devil's thirdborn, one half of a pair of twins
      • Nineliya: it means 'lake of tears' in elventongue
      • Calvaethor: means 'savior of light' in elventongue, I found this name to be very fitting to the character as he is a warrior pegasus centaur
      • Hugh: a german name in origin that means 'heart/soul'
      • Cadence Landolt: a rhythm, but since he goes by 'C' alone his surname was picked as a reference to the optical test.
      • Kazuki: written 和希with the kanji for harmony and hope as his character symbolizes a 'new hope' for his clan
      • Ealdred: his name means 'old council/friend', he feels familiar to a lot of people in the story, as if they've known him from previous lives.
      • Rin: 凛 means 'dignified'
      • Kyoya: written 恭弥 meaning 'reverent' and 'to increase'. His family owns a small shrine and wished for their child to also be respectful to the gods.
      • Shuusuke: written as 繍助 meaning 'embroidery' and 'to aid/relieve'
      • Nero (Niiro): written 二色meaning 'two colors', symbolizing the dual nature of his existence before and after losing his memory, the false transliteration as Nero makes his name only mean 'black' implying he used to be 'white' before.
      • Melchior: means 'city of the king', Melchior rules over the Nether's capital city Menorah, as the current lord Devil
      • Eien: 永遠 means 'eternity', after his own species that can live forever.
      • Nyasuke: ニャすけ the sound a cat makes (nya) combined with 'suke' a common particle for Japanese male names meaning 'to support', he's a tomcat
      • Taka: 鷹 means 'hawk', his character is literaly an actual hawk so there's not much to his name.
      • Ushiwakamaru/Yoshitsune: named after the Japanese historical figure Minamoto no Yoshitsune
      • Almaz: means 'diamond' since his and his sister's father's name was Spinel we stuck with the gemstone theme for the entire family
      • Zoisite: his sculpt name is Jadeite and he's very green so he was named after another precious green mineral

    7. Alaska- My sister actually named her and I kept it.
Aspen- She is Alaska's little sister.
I plan on naming all my dolls after places! I love the idea of traveling one day! (I put idea because I am terrified of planes and boats. Can't get to Paris or Venice by car.)

    8. I went through/am going through this crazy phase (?) where I want to name all of my dolls after space-related things: planets/stars/solar systems, satellites, constellations etc.

      1. Talitha - she's named after a star in Ursa Major.
      2. Nysa - named after an asteroid in the Nysian Asteroid family.
      3. Rinzi (floating head) - she's actually not named after anything space related. She's named after one of my WoW toons. Though that toon is Undead. ;D
      4. Comet (floating head) - named after a comet? XD
      5. Zephyr (floating head) - she's also not named after something space-related. She's named after a set of characters my sister and I came up with. She's a wind goddess. :3
      6. Carme - she's named after a moon of Jupiter.
      7. Dollzone June - no name still ;A;

      I have others planned;
Lugh&Luna are my twins. Lugh is named after a Sun God, actually, and Luna is just a play on Lunar, I suppose. They started it all!
      Zosma - star in Leo.
Echo - No idea why. Not anything space-related. Nothing. I looked at her and thought, "her name should be Echo." So it was.

    9. The Adults:

Blaze- her character is a fire-mage, I thought of the name and it stuck.
Yin Toivonen- Yin is Chinese for silver, and the code name of an anime character she is based on. Toivonen is Finnish like the character was originally, and means hope.
Yumiko- something like "archery bow/ child" in Japanese. She's supposed to be a graceful female warrior.
Conri- Means "wolf king", variant of Conner.
Kaimana- means "ocean energy" in Hawaiian, and she's a sea spirit
Dr. Firenze Evergreen- the Italian name for the city of Florence, and a centaur in Harry Potter. Evergreen is a kind of tree and he's an elf. With a medical degree.

      The kids/imps-
Kali Thistle- mischievous imp named for the Hindu goddess of destruction and a prickly plant.
Hermes Tock- counterpart to Kali, name for the Greek messenger god who was also a guardian of travelers and thieves. Tock to go with his Steampunk-ishness.
Lilith- elf-child, according to some naming site this was the name of the first companion God made Adam who was replaced by Eve for being too contrary.
Rhiannon Evergreen-niece of Dr. Evergreen. The name just seemed to fit her.
Leon- means lion, and he's a cat faced boy.

    10. Arianna - I just really liked that name back then and I think that it fits her.
Rowan Rei Moesashi - This time, I put way more thought into this name. Her first name 'Rowan' means redhead, she has red hair, so the name fits her. Her middle name 'Rei' , its a japanese name and the meaning depends on the kanji used. This is the kanji of her name 怜, which means wise. Her last name is Moesashi, which means amber.

    11. Lilith - named herself, in mythology she was Adam's first wife
Mikail - my mom named him
Jessie - named herself, she started life as a boy sculpt but her previous owner turned her into a girl so I wanted a name that could be male or female
Ramsay - named for Ramesses II, Pharaoh of Egypt
Keith - named himself/ my mom helped
Tristan - he just looked really sad when I first got him, and "triste" is French for sad
Achmed - my father chose his name, for the Jeff Dunham puppet
Ysandre - named for a character in Jacqueline Carey's "Kushiel" novels
Loki - my friend said she looked mischievous and so Loki she became. Yes, Loki is usually portrayed as male but he's also a shape-shifter.
Amber - named herself after looking through some name websites, I was going for something gem or colour related
Persia - has a cat paw as part of her default face up... Purr-sia.
Eris - she's sort of Loki's little sister and so she took the name of another God of Mischief.

    14. A lot of my dolls have literary connections; either named after authors or fictional characters. For some reason, I like using place names for my girl dolls.

      1. Chulyen Lemuria - Chulyen is a raven god, and Lemuria I liked the sound of. Later found out it is a "lost continent" like Atlantis.
      2. Qwilleran H. Swift - Qwilleran is the main character in the "Cat Who" series. Swift for Jonathan Swift.
      3. Roane Ishmael Veles - Roane for red, Ishmael from Moby Dick, and Veles is a Slavic god, sometimes a trickster.
      4. Hannah Holland Ellis - "hana" means "flower" in Japanese. Holland for the country, and Ellis for Bret Easton Ellis.
      5. Fujihara Kazuki - "Fuji" can mean "wealth" or "wisteria" in Japanese. I've always liked the name Kaz.
      6. Mathilda Lemuria - I wanted Chulyen's daughter to be named "Mattie." She arrived via Australia, so "Mathilda" seemed fated.
      7. Charlotte London - I love the name Charlotte, writer Jack London, and London, England.
      8. Pepper Winston - Pepper like something spicy; Winston after the apple (she's a Souldoll Apple) and Winston Churchill.
      9. Leonidas Sterling - Leonidas after the Spartan king. Sterling, like sterling silver.

Hubble - named after the Hubble Space Telescope. and amazingly shares the same birthday with said telescope.
Curiosity - named after the Mars Rover.

In case you can't tell, I have a huge thing for sstronomy and space exploration. :)

    16. 1.Fairy Cheeks-I honestly think that Leeke Ariana looks a bit like a shark for some reason (but in a cute way) and the first thing that comes to mind when I think shark is Jaws.
Of course I wasn't going to call her Jaws so I went with Cheeks since hers are pretty big and I later added Fairy to her name because I thought it was fitting.

2.Ghost-At first this was just going to be a nickname that her character was called but it later became her actual name,I didn't want it to be since her character is a ghost...but none of the other names that came to me fit her as well.

3.November Burton-I wanted her to have a name similar to Wednesday Addams but with the same initials as me.
November is my birth month and I think it makes for an odd but cute name such as Wednesday and Burton because I really admire the artistic style of Tim Burton.

4.Grimrose-It's just a play on the name Primrose which I find really pretty, since she is a grim reaper I just replaced Prim with Grim.

    17. 1. Rain - I'm a huge kpop fan, and my fav song from my fav group (Beast) at the time was Biga Onen Nauren, or On Rainy Days. I listened to it whenever I was upset. So I named him Rain because of my love for the song and it's meaning to me. I also really like thunderstorms.

      2. Piper - (waiting for) I wanted a unique name I don't normally hear nowadays, and one of my favorite books from middle school had a main character named Piper.

    18. 1. Tistelfjun - meaning thistle down, the wispy seeds of a thistle flower. She is a meadow fairy. I had recurring dreams of a little pixie or fairy named Tistelfjun, and after a while I started looking for her doll equivalence and finally found her. :cheer

      2. Hjortrongull - Tistelfjuns girlfriend. Her name means literally "cloudberry gold", but is also the Swedish translation of Goldberry from LoTR. She is a forest fairy of royal ancestry and is named for her golden red hair, river blue eyes and her namesake in the Red Book of Westmarch.

      3. Nyponros - Hjortrongull's daughter. The name means "dog rose", "briar rose", or more literally "rosehip rose", and is a hint to her looking like a pink little rosebud when she was born, pink in cheeks and lock of hair.

All of the names are from what Tistelfjun told me in those dreams, funny how the brain works sometimes, but entertaining!

    19. Dolls i own:

Dragonbelle - is the last name meaning "beautiful dragon" dragon tamer as of dolls but dragon shapeshifters in my already done story before my dolls
Cecilia Dragonbelle - (limhwa half elf) the meaning behind Cecilia is blind and i wanted my girl to blind and i had already had Emilia in mind for her name. most people call her Belle which means "beauty" or "beautiful" in french
Yishi Dragonbelle - (aileendoll ashes V.1) her name is not like the japanese but elveish "you-she" not "ye-she" cecilia is an half elf and names her.

      Names on hold:

    20. Nia - She is a character from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I believe I remember reading that several of the main characters in that anime were named for directions, so hers would be 'near'.

Emie - Was named that just because it was a really cute name. Emie! The in story reason was that she was born with very pretty green eyes and one of her parents wanted to call her 'Emerald,' but the other thought the name was silly. She ends up with red eyes anyway, so...

Ilari - Came out of a baby name book. I used to read through them a lot and look at the meanings. Ilari has had pretty much the crappiest life and is severely depressed. His name means 'cheerful'. The in story origin of his name is as a derivative of his father's name (Ilan).

Lorina - Laurel is a symbol of immortality and rebirth, relevant to Lorina's role in the story as a reincarnation. I believe where I heard the name was from reading about Alice Liddell (her mother and one of her sisters was named Lorina).

Mariana - Name meaning 'bitter,' and the name of the deepest part of the ocean. In story she was named for the 'bitter' meaning (she's a princess, and everyone was hoping for a male heir).

Emily - The sculpt name. My 4th Bambicrony Emily (the others being Mariana, Emie, and Ina).

Ina - Is just a nickname for Lorina. The doll is a younger version of her, so she gets the nickname.

Ari - Same thing as Ina, short form of Ilari. There is a bit of significance to Ari meaning 'lion' but nothing the characters would be aware of in story.

Dolly - Mariana's doll. She doesn't like dolls much, so she didn't bother naming it. Contrast to her favorite stuffed animal, which she did name (Ari).

aria kilduff (doll love wenwen)- "melody" "son of the black haired man" - this is a pun on the fact that she's a cute little innocent looking girl who's favourite pass time is picking people out and torturing, killing and eating them with her brother.

baelfire (doll in mind edmon)- named after baelfire/neal cassidy from OUAT xD

    22. At Home
Otakar Nepovím: I was just trying to find a Czech name with no special characters, so I ended up with "Otakar", a form of the Germanic name Odovacar, meaning "wealth" and "vigilant." I know very little about Czech surnames so I ended up just looking them up on Wikipedia, since they also provide some translations. Nepovím means "won't tell" and since his entire existence is supposed to be a secret, I thought it appropriate.
Valli Snøhetta: Her name was originally Veralidaine Sarrasri, from the Tamora Pierce novels, but the character didn't stick. I still wanted a "v" name. I was reading another book where the main character's name was "Wallie" in German, so I played around with the spelling until I got Valli. I gave her the surname Snøhetta because mountains are sometimes used among some of the Sami people, picking Snøhetta (in the Norwegian Dovrefjell range) due to it's cuteness. It means "mountain with a hood of snow."

      Want to Buy
Vissarion Kresimirovich: I wanted to give him an old-fashioned Russian name, so I chose Vissarion because it sounded the best. It's origins are uncertain but the current theory is that it means "wooded valley." Kresimir was chosen for his father's name, and it means "spark" and "peace." (I think there might be a bit of bad blood about this name but... I really wasn't aware of it when I named him, and I don't want to change it. He's my Visha. ♥)
Éclair: She and her friends are all named after French desserts. I chose Éclair because there's a bakery nearby that serves delicious ones that have been nicknamed "antidepressants" by the workers and she's kind of my little antidepressant herself.
Hideyasu: I smushed together Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyoshi's names together. (It's written with the characters "excellence" and "peace," by the way.)

    23. This is Teacup the Raksha's "origin story":

      This is just a teacup.
No... I'm not kidding. He's just a teacup. Really.

Teacup is the resin avatar of another one of my Exalted characters. He's a raksha (That game's version of the fae-) of the Common sort... Ornamental, if you want to get specific... who was accidentally created during an argument between a tempermental Noble and a Twilight philosopher about the nature of Reality. He started out, exactly as his name implies, as an inanimate part of the Noble's tea service. A simple object used as an example.

The Noble lost that argument and blamed the unfortunate teacup, even though he really hadn't had anything to do with it. He hadn't even existed as a self-aware entity before the Noble and the Philosopher's argument over his existence made him into one. Still, the Noble was furious. She kicked him out of her domain, and the last thing she said to him as he left her realm forever was that no matter where he went, or what he became... He wasn't ever going to be anything more than a teacup. A nobody.

The poor teacup wandered for awhile, until eventually he came to the Bordermarches (The place where Creation and the Wyld begin to touch-). He'd never seen anything quite like Creation before, so he stopped and asked a passing Hobgoblin what it was.

'That's Creation,' the Hobgoblin said. 'Where things Exist.'

'Who lives there?' the wandering teacup asked. He was keenly interested in Existing after all, since an argument over that very thing was what had created him, but he didn't want to run into any more grumpy Nobles.

'People live there,' the Hobgoblin answered. And then he showed the teacup what a Person looked like by turning into one.

'Oh... That's very clever,' the teacup said, and he tried it too. He was pretty good at looking like a Person as it turned out, so he thanked the Hobgoblin and went on his way. 'I'm going to live in Creation, so I can Exist, too.'

He liked Creation. It was a strange place, full of strange things like dandelions, and strange beings like butterflies... But there was no one for the teacup to talk to, and he was lonely, and he wasn't entirely sure that he was really Existing at all. Until one day when he was out playing and he met Jylli and her brother.

They were People... Children, really... and they were afraid of the teacup at first, but once he convinced them that he wasn't a Hobgoblin who wanted to eat them, they were a little friendlier. Jylli even asked the teacup his name... But he had to tell her that he didn't have one. 'Because,' he said, 'I'm just a teacup. A nobody.'

'Then Teacup can be your name,' the little girl replied... and Teacup was happy. Because having a Name meant that he really must Exist after all.

•Phineas from a separate peace by john knowles
•Quinn because I've always liked the name and I thought it flowed well with Phineas
•Berkery- I literally found the first Irish last name I liked

      Devlyn James Morlynd
•Declan ->Devlyn I honestly don't know how I got there from Declan, but I remember not really liking Declan but still wanting a D name. It might have been a baby name site I was on when I found it.
•James is one of my favorite names
•Morlynd is a name I thought I made up XD Turns out it's actually a British last name. Which works perfectly since Dev is British!

      Atharios Taniss Thelentyrn
•Made it up cause it sounded fantasy/elvish
•Thelentyrn is actually a misspelling of something I can't even remember that I thought sounded cool

I will probably give her a surname when I redo her faceup..... we'll see. She might end up with a title instead. She strikes me as a necromancer.

    29. I try to place my doll characters in a place in history and geography based on what the sculpt makes me think of. Then I go research and try to find a suitable name. Recently I decided that a DF-A Christmas limited head with prominent cheekbones will become a Saami boy, Riggu Kvitfjell. Medieval through modern names are easy to come up with, but older periods? - pffft. I have the idea for a doll dressed like the Tarim Basin mummies, and I have no clue how I'm going to find a name; just look for the oldest possible Celtic names, I suppose. Same goes for a guy that I'd like to make Minoan or Mycenaean. I'm open to suggestions!

    31. Alexander Black ~ Alexander was a name I really liked back in the day because it has many short versions (my real name can't really be shortened, I am forever envious of people with nick-names as I have none). Black was taken from my family tree - literally. My mom has an ancient copy of her family tree and drug it out one day for us to look at...I found I had ancestors named Black and thought it was cool, so Alex got the name for himself.
David Riley ~ A combination of David Boreanez and Riley Finn...cause Buffy. And because David's character is kind of that do-gooder type so I thought it was fitting for him.
Kimiko Matsumoto ~ Her last name was picked out of thin air. No idea where her first name came from...I think I just wanted her to be called Kimi.
Ryuji ~ Dragon is perfect for him
Isis Rhodes ~ Another "way back in the day" - when I was creating her for a school project I had to pick a name. I was (and still am) wearing an Isis pendant around my neck and in desperation that's what I used. I only recently gave her the last name Rhodes because it means roses...which means a thing in my storyline...
Aisheka ~ bastardized a name I found and liked online
      Annabelle Lee ~ Poe
Wyn ~ Only doll I owned who named himself. I was looking at him and just "heard" the name Wyn...
Sage ~ My friend named her. I was looking for a genderless name because I didn't know if she would be a girl or a boy....she's a girl.
Teagan "Tea" ~ No idea....just sounded good.
Rowan ~ Started out as a character named Cael....who I actually owned as a doll and sold. When I made up Sage's character I decided she should be his twin, but then their names made no sense...so I changed it. He's a doll again, which is why he gets to be here. As a fun fact, Rowan is actually a girl head and Sage is a boy head XD

All of these guys are named for Angels...because they are Angels. Human names were largely random other than the ones who like to pretend they're Poppy Z Brite characters.
      Lucifer
      Metatron
      Azrael
      Raphael "Dr. Corbin Rafiel"
      Uriel "Jacob"
      Hanael "James"
      Remmiel "Pilot"
      Israfel
      Cassiel
      Darkiel "Dark, Trevor, Twig"
      Zachriel "Zack, Molochai"
      Adriel "Adrien, Zillah"

All of them are named for drinks at Starbucks. Because coffee.

Gabby - She's got lots to say and lots to do!
Feebee - Love the name Phoebe, but don't like the spelling.
Zeebee - Same sculpt as Feebee, but a blue alien.
Amiga - A nickname a former friend had for me. Means friend in Spanish.
Mika - Short and cute, just like she is! Also a singer I really like.

    33. Jaden Bell - well, I created the character in the same time period as I was reading twilight books, so actually this character's first name was Jasper, but when I actually bought the doll for the character, he didn't feel like a Jasper to me at all, he needed something gentle, so he became Jaden, Jade or Jay for short, as he has green eyes and is also a bird.
Kyrian el Gabriel d'Sylvane - he was at first named Edward, but same as Jasper, needed to go, as when my fascination with twilight left me, I still had my world and my guys who needed their own names. Still, Kyrian's name is from another series of books (Dark Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon), but the characters are nothing alike besides the fact of being blond. And because he is a noble, I needed a long and fancy name for him, so the middle-name Gabriel for the archangel Gabriel, and also my most favorite name in the whole world, d'Sylvane because I needed something starting with S.
Chaturi Cha'in - I just call him Chai, as for Tea in Russian, because I envisioned him having tea-colored eyes, so I just searched for names to elaborate my tea theme.

    35. Kyoshi: I wanted a Japanese name for my first doll and I liked the meaning of kyoshi because it described me a lot: quiet...however, he is not like me because he is very friendly, likes to talk and is full of life. Still, the name is perfect for him.

Rosiel: From my favorite character back then (Angel's sanctuary)

Dantes: My favorite character from my favorite book back then (the Count of Monte Cristo)

Santii: It's from a childhood character I loved so much. His name is Santiago but everyone called him "Santi". My little boy was inspired by that character.

Chester: I just liked that name :p no inspiration behind it.

Jubilee: I wanted a name that lives up to my girl's personality. She is full of joy and I always wanted to add Lee to a name...I really never heard of the name Jubilee before, it came to my mind but after googling the name I see is very common...I still love it.

Almond: I was eating almonds when he came and decided to name him that.

Valin: I wanted something unheard of and that rhymes with Santi (they are twins).

Soran: don't even know why I chose this name...lol I saw it on the web once and liked it. The meaning doesn't go with my boy's personality at all but it stuck so he's Soran!

Sasha: Always liked this name since the day I met a Russian boy called "Sasha". Decided to name my girl like that.

Sebastian: I call him Sebby or Seb, he's named after a sweet character from one of my favorite books ever: Silence. My doll, same as the character, is mute.

Xavier: It just came to mind...no inspiration behind it.

Lumiel: I wanted to nickname him 'miel' (honey in spanish) so Lumiel was born.

Pasha: My best childhood friend was called Pasha...I don't see him since we were 10 years old so my newest addition will look like him and have his name. It has to be a kid because my memories of him are from that time so I chose a 35cm boy with a sweet smile. He's perfect!

    36. Illian- I wanted a different name and this is what I came up with. I don't know why or how I honestly didn't know this was a real name until like a mont ago.
Vincent- I like final fantasy. A lot.
Elliot (LL)- I like the name elliot and my mom thought a cute nickname for him would be LL so it just kinda stuck.
Aria (Ari)- I like music and the name aria has always been pretty to me so it stuck.
Alistar- I honestly don't know. It was one of the names I thought maybe about, then it just happened. It's a thing now.
Pola- The name just stuck. I tried giving her a different name and everything else just seemed wrong. Besides its cute in my opinion.

    37. I tried to type out every story, but that is going to be a long read, so have the short version instead:

      Because I love alliteration:
Harley Hebe Greyson (last name since the doll is grey skin)
Cho Chung-Cha (Cho being the last name)
      Lilou Laia Lennox

      Because I also like consonance:
Vladini Sanquini Afanasiy (Vladini = Vlad + Dimitri)
      Michi Kichirou Miyamoto

Because the initials spell out a different name:
Imogen Laurin Jolise Afanasiy (also, these names contains first two letters of loved ones)
Samanya Amara McKenna (spells Sam and the sculpt is Soom Sammi)

Because I like the spelling and / or meaning:
Caelan Phaedo Mac Naomhán (Phaedo from Plato)
Phaedra Caoiliann Mac Naomhán (sort of reverse and feminine form of Caelan)
      Seirian Caoimhe Ó Maonaigh
      Eden Asphodel Moreau
Gioia Devinia Desomber (last name counters first name in meaning)

Because I forced myself to use more letters of the alphabet:
Giachetta Xiomara Vega (first name refers back to Captain Hook)
      Nimue Y. A. Hayes
      Evadne "Eevee" Ushara Ferenike Triggs

      Named sorta by someone else:
Shoshana Jasmine Sannuri (middle name thanks to my father, last name is mix of 'sun' and 'rain')
      Sophie Tatiana Moreau (sculptname)
Dream-Boy of White Mountain a.k.a Mini Sem (my dog's minime)

    38. I named my doll the same way I think I would name a child. I sat down and went through a list of names and made a list of ten possible first names and middle names. Then I went through that and would look at my doll while I called her each name until I found the name I thought suited her.
      She is Inaya Tea. :)

    40. NISSH THUNDERPAW-- she's a Dungeons and Dragons catfolk character from 5 years ago. In the "Races of the Wild" book, it mentions catfolk names including hissing or purring sounds, so "Nissh" is actually pronounced "Ni-*hissing*"! "Thunderpaw" was the result of me purposely trying to make a really obnoxious clan name.

TUULIKKI-- it's the name of a Finnish forest goddess, which is exactly what she is.

FELIX CULBERTSON-- Felix seemed like an appropriate name for the great-grandson of Norse God Loki. Culbertson is the name of a founding family in the town where my grandfather lives.

ROSKVA DEIGJA-- Roskva is the character I based off of a figure in Norse mythology that goes by the same name. ROSKVA is Thor's thrall, and "deigja" is her position: head female slave.

THYRI-SATU CULBERTSON-- Roskva and Felix's daughter, Thyri is named after Thor. She later picks up the Finnish name Satu whilst exploring the Finnish Lapplands as a storyteller/shamaness. Satu vastly prefers this name to Thyri.

MAXIMILIAN CULBERTSON-- the unshelled son of Felix and Roskva, Max is named after Felix's great-grandfather, Maximilian Eld, who was the Norse god Loki in disguise. I can neither confirm nor deny that Max is also Loki reincarnated.

    41. (I don't technically OWN these dolls yet but I'm placing the order soon, so it still counts!)

PAPER -- a shortened version of Paper Stars, both a hobby and my LinePLAY username. I adored my avatar and then found that Littlefee Rose matched her perfectly.

JACK -- Also a LinePLAY username of mine. He was Paper Stars' male counterpart. Jack is my favorite masculine name.

(Dolls I want but haven't planned to buy)

PUDDING -- A shortening of my GaiaOnline username Puddings and Tea. Originally it came from two OC's with foodie names.

TEA -- Pudding's brother, and the other half of the aforementioned username.

CAPPUCCINO -- A friend's foodie OC, that I'm making in honor of her.

HYN -- I was having trouble naming an OC and so I chose random letters. I thought it seemed interesting and foreign; she's an archer in a post-apocalypse world.

CAPTAIN ZENA ALEXANDER -- Zena because my best friend thought that was my name for a while; Alexander is the masculine form of my middle name. She's a pirate!

LOKI -- Well. I guess this doesn't really need explaining. But I want to make a Marvel Cinematic Universe version, for fanfic purposes, though I'm considering rewriting that fic to include less MCU influence.

SIV -- the heroine of the Loki fic. Siv means bride in old Norse, but it's also a derivitive of Sif. She's Loki's childhood friend who becomes a very active figment of his imagination.

    44. I can only really do my most recent doll... her name and back story were instant almost as fast as I hit the buy button... which is odd since she was purchased in order to get limited items and not herself lol

Her name is "Bonnie (Bunny) Rochelle" and her last name will depend on which story she is in and at what stage of the story. Hawkesworth is for the cannon Iplehouse Carved Heritage theme/story. In my AU version it will be Harding, Brigham or Harding-Brigham (this depends on the adult marriage plans and timing ^^)

Bonnie is originally the sculpt name and most of my doll seem to demand I keep it somehow. With Bonnie it's a bit sad by sweet. She is an orphan. She was taken from her dead mamma's body by an old woman who lived in the same slums. (a neighbor who looked out for those around her.) She didn't want the child to die or go to a 'workhouse'. So when the old woman found her neighbor lady dead one day she just "took in the bonny lass"... that is the first part of how she got her name... it came out of an endearment for a child with no name. It's how most ppl knew the old woman called her. And she just 'became' Bonnie. As she grew a bit her baby talk made her name come out as 'Bunny'. That and always hearing 'be quick/quiet like a bunny!' it became a pet name for many of the other street children whom were often looking in on or helping the old woman somehow... She grew up like this until the old woman finally also died when Bonnie was about 4 (no one is exactly sure... just more or less about that age... some could guess back to what 'season' of what year but that's it). The children living on the streets just pulled her into their group and collectively looked out for her and each other. After a few months the son of a Duke came across her one day in the capitol city... He often would take street children and orphans found on his travels to his home area where it was like a charity he set up to find them homes or bring them to a 'foundling' home. The charity had been set up to help his mother who had lost her youngest son to pirates, recover from the loss. Bonnie in the 'cannon' story is eventually adopted into this family and given the middle name Rochelle, fitting as it means strong or rock like... In the NOT cannon version she is adopted into another family. I haven't decided if the lady adopts her before or after she is married, hence why Bonnie would have first the mothers then the fathers or the hyphenated name ;p

so the 'bonny lass' who was quick and quiet like a 'bunny' became Bonnie Rochelle, nicknamed Bunny girl. ^^

    46. Dolls I own:

      Theodore "Thei" Holmström
Theodore means "gift of god"(theos = god; doron = gift) in greek. Holmström is swedish for "islet stream"(holme = isle; ström = stream).
I'm just calling him Thei, that's a short form that I kinda invented myself.

      Mortimer "Mort" Heffernan
Mortimer is an irish name and literally means "dead water" what can be seen as a metaphor for swamps. Heffernan is irish as well and means something like "demon" or "devil".
Mort is a swamp demon so his name is really fitting, don't you think?

      Jerome "Jerry" Rewera
Jerome comes from the greek Hieronymus and means "sacred name". Rewera is Maori and also means "devil" or "demon".
Yeah all my boys are demons, so...

      Dolls to come:

      Suzume Kurenai
Suzume is Japanese and means "sparrow" while Kurenai means crimson.
Suzumes hair will be red, so that should be explained, too :P

I have reserved the names for my other three, as they are still characters in progress.

    51. Nanoc - is the name of a 90-year old character stuck in the body of a 10-year old. I made it up and thought it sounded nice, but the name reminded me of 'tir na nog' from Irish mythology. After looking up what it meant I discovered that tir na nog is the land of youth in Irish mythology and that seemed super fitting for a character who doesn't physically age! :)

Sage/Saga - is a character who is a witch disguised as a storyteller. Her name Sage is based on the herb which suits a witch, I think. Saga is perfectly suitable for a storyteller.

Fortuna - is a fortune teller character. I don't think I have to explain this :)

Yule - I just thought this sounded nice.

Dolores - it's a name that reminds me of someone always sad, and my little Pukifee looks a bit pouty and melancholic. It suited her.

Reimi - One night I dreamt of a Pukifee Zoe named Reimi who I obviously had to bring home.

Ceci - I kept the sculpt name, nothing else seemed to stick. xD

Siuan - named after the Amyrlin seat in the Wheel of Time.

    52. Doll plans have changed, here's my new family ^^

      Current Family:
Cyrus/Riri - LUTS SDF Karis - Riri is a sleepyhead and he hates the sun, what's more ironic than naming him after what he loathes.
Akihiko - LUTS SDF Summer Event '14 - The name of my favorite character. Also means Autumn Prince, coincidentally I got him on the same season.

      Planned:
Stella - LUTS SDF Harmony - Latin for star, she was born on Christmas Eve.
Lestia - Little Monica Sophia - From Celestia, Latin for Heavenly. She is an alien.

    53. Miruku, which is Milk in Japanese. He's not got a body yet, but he's going to be a pastel themed cat boy, so I thought milk was quite fitting <3!

    54. Julian - The name he was given by his previous owner. I liked the name, and it fit with the story/personality I had in mind for him
Mei - When I decided to get my DZ Megi, I kept referring to him as his sculpt name before he arrived, or I'd shorten it to "Mei." It kinda stuck...
Alex - Being Julian's son, I needed a traditional name that would/could have been used in 19th century England. I liked the name "Alexander," so I went with that, albeit shortened when I talk about him...
Grey - His previous owner kept his sculpt name, and since Grey is a regular doll meet attendee, everyone is used to him being "Grey." I also lack creativity...>.>

Cliff/Henry/Jordan - My floating head. I need to actually give him a face-up before I can better come up with a name, but I'm leaning towards one of these three...

    56. I have three dollies, and all their names have background stories ^w^

      - Kerli, her name comes from the singer with that same name, well, is not exactly that simple. I had never heard Kerli's music, I only heard her name somewhere and suddenly it became the perfect name for an OC of a short novel I was working on. That novel took a really long time for me to finish it and that name became special to me, like I had kind of a link to the girl with that name. So when my first BJD came home, I had decided she will carry that special name and it really helped with bonding and starting to create her personality.

      - Edgar Blake Lanyon, his name and surname's origins are a lot simpler. This hot guy was supposed to be studying Architecture, so I just searched for names of famous architects and made a mixture with them.

      - Nelliel, my cute little girl, got her name indirectly from Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, a character from the Bleach series. My fiancé and I usually talk about having children and, as both were fan of Bleach, we both agree to name our first daughter Nelliel. So when my cutie first Yo-SD came home, I was decided to name her Nelliel, and she has become kinda my representation of my future daughter, I feel that way towards her ^w^

    57. Anton- It just...fit I guess? I dunno lol.

      Aydren- Same. It just fit.

Cat Sidhe- Since she is a feline, I wanted to do something with her based on mythology surrounding felines. And this name was the most memorable. Her character is being based around the mythical cat that had this name.

Marley- This is a nickname, while her real name is not set in stone. The name comes from the fact that she loves Bob Marley's music.

    58. Lettice -- I liked the name. It's the name of a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I. That wasn't the reason for her name, but I thought it was interesting.

Avery -- An ex-boyfriend that got me the doll came up with the name. Incidentally, the character and the name existed long before the doll, though that was nearly always the case with my dolls.

Sebastian -- I liked the name, again. It sounded like a good name for a guy.

Titiana -- 'Titian' is in the name and she's sort of hardcore. It just fit

Patrick -- Again, liked the name.

Vivica -- Ok, going wayyy back to 2000.. I was into the band Jack Off Jill. They have a song named Vivica and I liked the name so I gave it to a very, very background character in a little story I was coming up with. She sort of evolved into the character and doll she is today, but that's where the name originated. Her middle name is Katherine, no doubt from Shakespeare.

Brody -- Uh, Mallrats. That's really the reason. He isn't supposed to be anything like that Brody, but I loved the movie and the name.

Landon -- He's named after my scenic design professor in undergrad that died rather suddenly from brain cancer. He loved my dolls and really encouraged me in every way. I thought it was a fitting tribute.

Fyodor -- It's like Theodor, but not. It's another of my just liking the name.

Hector -- So his first name is not so significant. I just picked it out, but his surname, Muñoz actually does have a story. I'm all about Lovecraftian literature. In the short story "Cool Air" by H. P. Lovecraft there's a doctor that tries to beat death with the surname of Muñoz. His name came from that and being a pre-med drop-out in his backstory did too. I don't think anyone would get it other than me, but it brings me joy.

And I'll throw in my incoming doll, Dick, or Richard, but I named him because of the nickname rather than the name. I had a dream with the character in it over the summer, but the name was no doubt inspired by the fact I was reading, well, all... of Molly Harper's books this summer and there's a character named Dick Cheney, but not that Dick Cheney in it. The character was a favorite of mine, mine has nothing to do with him, but the name snuck into my subconscious. His surname, also from the very vivid dream is Jackson... so his name is Richard "Dick" Jackson.

    59. oh...

Azamircal - Reverse spelling of Lacrimosa, with some spelling modifications. Lacrimosa, meaning "to mourn," was appropriate for his character since he is constantly surrounded by death.
FwenTwö - A name I made up when I was a child. This character in particular is my childhood imaginary friend I guess. FwenTwö to me was a way to say "F U" and for some reason it stuck.
Avery - Just a cute name
Gabrielle - Gabrielle and his sister, Gabriel, have reversed sex names. Both named after the gate guardians.
Winzee - "Lindsey," my birth name, which I don't identify with.
Ryu - Japanese for "Dragon," Tachi (a different character) is originally from Egypt. His companion dragon's name was originally Ramenkah, but he changed it after the two of them moved to Japan. Not being fluent in the language right away, Tachi renamed Ramenkah to Ryu to make naming easier on him.
Fiore - Another word for Flower. Fiore was not named until he was a year old. He is a half demon, born to a very powerful demon. His father sought peace. Fiore's older brother was a disappointment to his father because of his violent nature. After seeing Fiore playing with a flower on his first birthday, Fiore's father decided on the name "Fiore."
Fight - The adrenal guardian of the fight response.
Domino - A human incarnation of a black and white bunny, hence the name.
      Truama - Guardian of Trauma
Olivia - Just a pretty name
Kevin - I'm actually not sure why I chose this name... For some reason when I was a kid Kevin was a really unique name lol
Hunter - Once the Guardian of Rage. Hunter was appropriately named "To hunt," "A hunter," due to his violent nature.
Davis - After Davey Havok from AFI
Kisame - Well, he's not MY character, but he's well named because of his shark appearance.
Tachi - Shortened from 'Itachi,' Just as an FYI, completely not related to Naruto xD Tachi was originally from Egypt. He destroyed his home and killed all of his friends because of an emotional breakdown and magic he could not control. He chose the name 'Itachi,' meaning 'weasel,' which in Japanese Folklure represents a bad omen.
Jordan - Every guy named Jordan I came to know growing up was a delinquent. This character is appropriately named.
Anca - FwenTwö's daughter, named after the first gothic girl I ever saw in person.
Ellie - Short for Eleanor, named after the Blair Witch
The Phoenix - The Phoenix is the guardian of emotional barriers. The flames are inextinguishable. Every time someone tries to break her down, she rebirths.
Maxine - Just a cute name
Izzy - Short for Isabelle, just another cute name.
Clover - After the 4 leaf clover. Clover survived a very troubling birth, so we named him something lucky.
Adam - FwenTwö's middle name, Scarlet and Fatal named their son after FwenTwö
Ravyn - FwenTwö's eldest son's name, signifying death.
Loki - Not after the villain from the avengers. Loki was named after the Norse God of trickery. He's an assassin and a thief.
      Fatal - She's a con artist, I guess I figured the name was appropriate ^^;
Sorrow - The spider guardian of sorrow
Amare - My Goddess of the sun. Amare's name means 'forever'
Jinx - Kevin and Ducky's son, also the adrenal flight response guardian. His power is jinx magic.
Akina - Well... her favorite color is green so >_> lol
Deiuco - Another made up name. I think I used Draco as a base for it, but that has no significance really.
Damien - Meaning "to tame," Damien is the only member of his family not named after a god. He's also the only one with brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was believed by his parents to be the child that would bring peace.
Rinji - Japanese for "Lindsey," Fiore named his son after his mother, "Lindsey"
Jafaari - Egyptian for "creek," Jafaari is a companion dragon with the power of water.
Hazard - Properly named as Hazard was to be the bringer of the apocalypse.

I'm definitely forgetting some... but those are the ones I can think of lol
