Since this year's Anniversary theme is about delicate things, let's see your doll's delicate things! Share photos of your delicate accessories - clothing, shoes, wigs -- even that prop that you are worried might break (or already has! )!
I think it suffices to say that my dolls' most delicate things are spectacles... as I've broken several pairs by accident.
@AlisonVonderland I agree! My girl's shared pair of glasses hasn't broken but they are so delicate that when I took one of my girls out with me recently, I ended up leaving the glasses in the car during the day. I was so worried I would either lose them or break them. They actually originally came from a vintage porcelain doll.
I don't have that many items that are terribly delicate... I do worry about props that are made of glass... Or stuff that is crush-able... Like fake flowers (although they are actually pretty hardy... and at least not breakable!). Although I still worry about flower crowns and wreaths--crushing them or knocking off the little flowers. 08-04-ElfdollEaster-1040x449 by aprilllee, on Flickr The Forest of Avalon/Lady Morghayne (sp) wings are not easy to store--the are large and the tips tend to curl and bend--but they are stronger than they look, too. The lacy Violetfern dress is no problem. It fluffs up well even after storage-- 06-08-Worldcon-0065a500a by aprilllee, on Flickr Hats can be crushable! I've been lucky so far and haven't mushed one--but they aren't easy to store-- 09-02-april-valentines008 by aprilllee, on Flickr The most worrisome things are made of feathers... They lose feathers and pieces easily and fall apart over time-- (Feather wig--actually a little elastic ring of feathers) 13-03-Fairyhouse-653 by aprilllee, on Flickr
Well, I blew the insides out of this pretty egg so Kurt could have a friend. It's still in one piece but I keep a watchful eye on it. Kurt in love by Nadine, on Flickr
Lmaoo I think this thread was made for me. The lord of plum blossoms by bickaberry, on Flickr I've started a little collection of Chinese-style umbrellas and they're definitely quite delicate! This one came with one strut broken (no wonder, considering they're like matchsticks) and a small hole torn in the paper. And then I accidentally sat on it and haven't dared to open it since but I'm sure it's now beyond repair. That's the problem with liking delicate things when you're a big clumsy oaf. brolly redux by bickaberry, on Flickr This white umbrella hasn't broken yet, but also feels quite fragile (and is a little troublesome to open), so I use it quite rarely. This red one I've used more often because it's relatively sturdier - it's made of fabric instead of paper. Those nail sheaths he's wearing are some of my most delicate jewelry. They're somewhat flexible, which makes it easier to fit on fingers, but they can get easily misshapen. And speaking of jewelry, I already broke this shoulder necklace of Heron's and had to go to a jeweler to repair it : Literal Disney Princess by bickaberry, on Flickr
My most delicate things are all for pukipuki, including the worlds tiniest spoon, her shoes, and the three pairs of glasses that i already broke
I think my most delicate thing would be...Marley's hair! She has no wig, it's flocking directly on her head. She's one of my favorite dolls, but I'm scared to take her places for fear of her hair getting scraped off. It could always be redone, but what fun is taking a doll out if she ends up not in photo condition?
Happy Anniversary, everyone! I think the most delicate stuff I have done for dolls is the miniature embroidery, done with sewing thread instead of embroidery threads which are thick. Here's the back of an MSD vest
@krill, Kurt is Soom's Neo-angel Region Humpty-Dumpty, he's still on the site but hasn't been for sale for awhile. He's been released three times that I know of, and I keep hoping they'll make him available again.
A resounding happy anniversary from here! I have a lot of items that'd fall under the delicate category, but these are a few :3 It's been a few years here that I made this spoon bonnet, first I ever made. I just wanted to make a big old chair looking like something from out of a candy factory, I'd say mission accomplished! This gorgeous set of wedding rings from TheHornedMoon, so long here that I got them, but they still manage to take my breath away!
hoot and HOOT are covered in feathers. I expect someday to have to redo them but for about a year now they have managed to lose only a few ... HOOT & hoot by mare joy smith, on Flickr
My most delicate prop is definitely this tiny, real wax candle. I've even found a small magnet container that is perfect for storing it. Here it is pictured with LTF and MNF hands. Crazily enough, a part of me is sooo tempted to light it, haha.
Possibly my most delicate BJD-related thing is a thong. For an Elfdoll tiny. Back in 2009 I made a challenge commission to Spampy to make some undies for my Elfdoll tinies, and Breezy aka ED Wendy got this thong
