Youmacon 2016 BJD Meet?

I've seen people mention all over the place that people meet up at Youmacon most years, but i haven't been able to find an actual thread about it (at least for this year) on DoA or the Youma forum. Maybe i'm just early.

So, is anyone planning on going this year? I'd love to meet up too if there's a specific place/day people usually get together!

I was actually hunting around for past years' dealers room lists to see if theres anyone who sells BJDs AT the convention! Ive never been one to go around the dealers section too much as im an artists alley person myself, so i cant remember if ive ever seen any there!

 

Hi! im already part of the MI facebook group, though it was a recent join and i havent said anything on the page yet! i should have though to check there first, though i assume as the con approaches there will be more people talking about it.

I wont be rooming for youma, but i live close enough to travel down for the days im going!

 

I probably wont be able to order and receive a doll in time for youma, unless i miraculously find one secondhand before the con and have money to pay for it! I have my fingers crossed that there may be someone in the dealers room selling BJDs (if thats a safe way to go) because if so i might look around and maaaybe buy one right at youma.

ill mostly be there to meet you all, and see some dolls up close!

Change of plans, i may actually have a doll to bring to Youmacon! I just found out i won a giveaway for a 5star doll Mu Ran head, a wig, and some clothes! If i can get a fitting body in my hands before the convention, ill totally bring them along!!!

Hey, same boat! if i end up feeling like i can safely get my doll head to and from the con, i might bring it.
im going to try to get to the 10am panel saturday, but im going with a group so itll depend on when the last person is ready haha. If i make it, ill be the one in the red cropped jacket (say hi!!)

The michigan BJD facebook group is organizing a meetup for sunday morning, but im 90% sure i wont be going to the con on sunday. If anyones going to be bringing dolls on saturday, maybe we can have a casual meetup in the wintergarden or somewhere in cobo or something!

 

The day is coming!! Its looking like ill for sure be making it to the panel on saturday morning, even if im a little late.
I dont really feel safe carrying a delicate doll head around the con all day, especially considering i dont have a plastic mask or good sized box to do so, so Migs will be staying home. Ill be sure to have some pictures on me, though.

I cant wait to make some bjd-loving friends, i apologize in advance if im shy or awkward...
Ill be the keith kogane way in the back of the panel room probably!

 

Well, this feels super late, but i just wanted to say i had a lot of fun listening to the panel, and learned a lot about bjds and the hobby in general! @Floura thank you and your sister for hosting and answering questions, your dolls are all beautiful!

sorry i was too shy to really talk to anyone after the panel, (@PumpkinKings im so sorry for not saying hi, your cosplay was amazing though!) it was my first time going to panels at a convention so i was a little nervous. Hopefully next time ill talk more, or at least have some more questions.

(i got a chance to talk to two other people in the mini figures workshop room at cobo over the weekend, but i dont know if theyre on DoA. They were very friendly!)

Maybe by next youmacon, ill actually have a full doll to bring, and be able to get to the meetups as well as the panels!
