I was playing with my doll and suddenly his arm just fell apart when the elastic slipped into the arm and I was left holding his hand in mine. When I examined the hand I could see the s-hook was gone, I gently took the rest of his arm apart and found the hook still hooked onto the elastic. The hand, and the hole in the hand where the hook belongs are intact and the hook seems to be fine. I can actually screw the hook back in gently and it with gentle tugging it doesn't fly back out, but I think the hole is stripped a bit because it won't hold up to tension required for the elastic. (I've attached a crummy picture of the hook and elastic... my camera is very bad for taking close-ups.) Any ideas on how to secure the hook? I have this super strong all-purpose industrial grade glue called "Gorilla Glue" (http://www.gorillaglue.com). I thought I might smooth the screw with the glue and screw it in, but it's so strong I'm a little worried it might react badly with the resin. If it matters, my doll Crow is an Angelregion Fair Kai.
I wouldn't reccomend gorilla glue! It can sometimes bubble and expand as it dries. My grandmother used it to fix something and it bubbled out of where she had put it and it looks terrible.
Yes, I'm familiar with that with Gorilla Glue. It also stains horribly on your hands (but the actual glue dries neutral.) I've used it a lot on woodwork and if you clamp it right and monitor it you can stop that from being a problem. You can also file and sand it once it's dry, so your grandmother might be able to recover whatever she glued. A woodworking peice I made once got totally messed up when the clamp slipped off, and it bubbled and expanded, but I was able to fix it by filing away at it. I was more worried that it might chemically harm the resin, since I haven't worked with that much. It's so fantastically strong though, I thought it would be good for such a high stress area.
