Ye luo li = evabjd? (Basically solved)

Aug 14, 2018

    1. I really hope this is ok to post. If not then please delete it. Basically i just don't know where else to turn. I've been looking into these vinyl dolls called yeluoli/night lolita. There is a store on aliexpress and ebay called evabjd and i'm unsure if they are the same, a reseller, or something more.. Shall we say illegal. I really want a couple but i'm confused and i don't want to by a fake. I should also point out, that yeluoli's taobao may not work anymore? Every time i try to go to it i get an error page. So i'm wondering if maybe they moved to other platforms to sell. A lot of people that buy them seem to tag them as both yeluoli and evabjd which just furthers my confusion. Sorry if it's obvious but i just want to be sure.

    2. I came across the "1:6" Evabjd dolls on Amazon a while ago and was curious because I am a huge fan of smaller articulated dolls, particularly with removable eyes. However, I saw that they also have "1:3" doll that are blatant copies of an American company's dolls called My Ballerina Dolls, their 1:3 boy in particular but some of the girls as well are being sold as Evabjd dolls without mentioning the My Ballerina Dolls name anywhere. When I saw the boy I knew they were probably all fakes, or unauthorized copies, unless they somehow have a partnership with the My Ballerina Dolls company. Which seems rather weird if that is the case, but I just gave up on the 1:6 since I couldn't find any trustworthy info. The My Ballerina Doll people have a contact form on their webpage, but I don't know if they would find it rude to ask about a potential partnership (I once asked an Asian legit BJD company about it, just out of curiosity and they didn't seem too happy about it).

    3. @Enzyme i see. But that also kinda brings me back to, are they reselling them? Like maybe they aren't necessarily copying as much as they buying and reselling under their own name. Which.. Isn't good either but slightly less dubious than actually making their own copies. What is also kind of strange is that their Aliexpress page DOES have some dolls with full clothing and hair and such that actually DO say yeluoli/night lolita. So it seems like they're only putting that name on the fullset dolls but not on the ones they are selling blank. It's all very confusing and i'm afraid to directly ask them in case i'm met with hostility.

It would certainly help if someone just has a working link to their taobao but i've yet to come across one

Edit: aaaand immediately after i said that, i stumbled on the taobao store. This seems to be the legit one. Perhaps they were just doing maintenence for a while? Yeluoli taobao
Hope it's ok to link to them. I didn't see anything in the rules saying i can't

    4. That is very interesting, I want to say that it does seem extremely weird for them not to mention or credit the MBD people, if they are reselling their dolls as a partnership of sorts. I recall there being a page that talked about the original creator a bit, but I can't find it, I think they were a mother and daughter team? It was a long time ago when these dolls originally came out, at least the first girl with the blond hair, I think the boy took like two or three years to be released (I kind of had my eye on him for a while). I would guess it would be easier to contact the MBD people, because they are the original creators of the 1:3 dolls at least, so it would be easy to tell if they are all copies of their work or a partnership based on their response. However, I am a bit hesitant to contact them because I have had a not so friendly response from a legit BJD company when I asked about partnerships with other companies, so I think I just rather not intrude. Although, it would be great to know that there are other articulated vinyl bodies on the market that are legit.

    5. I didn't see the one that looked like the MBD. It may only be on their amazon store? I haven't looked there. I found on evabjd's ebay they sell some ye luo li clothing and blank dolls separately. I'm guessing what they're doing is buying the dolls and then stripping some to sell blank. And then not crediting properly on the blank dolls. I also didn't see any that looked like MBD on the actual ye luo li taobao. They all seem to be their own created characters as there seems to be some other merch and possibly a cg animation of some kind? I found a video on youtube.

I did find the mature tiny you were talking about on their taobao by the way

EDIT!: ok. I had to know for sure so i did more digging. MBD is actually using Ye luo li dolls for their line. It's a mutual thing between them. Probably the reason i didn't recognize any was because the makeup is different haha. And i don't see a male on taobao right now. Here is the article that talks about it. The thing about them being the same is at the end of the article.

    6. Huge thanks for doing all of that research and finding out that they are indeed in a partnership. No wonder why Ye Lou li didn't credit MBD, since they are the original creators. Goes to show we shouldn't assume things based on past groups of people doing things differently. It's great news nonetheless, these dolls appear to be highly articulated, and now I can once again contemplate looking into getting the 1:6 doll without worrying she's a copy (the boy is still tempting...). I think they use the Clara sculpt for most of the dolls in their website, I always look at sculpts rather than paint apps, because most of the time I like painting my dolls myself. I do see how it would be difficult for people to tell, their head sculpts are a bit simplistic, which is part of why I like them (they are very anime-ish!). Thanks again for looking more into this, I'm happy that this seems to be a legit doll company making their own articulated vinyl dolls, which is refreshing in many ways! (:

    7. no prob! I'm happy for the news too and that the original taobao was found so we don't have to bother with "evabjd". I hope for us both to have a lot of fun with these dolls!

    8. I'm glad for us both as well! There are not that many options of vinyl dolls with removable eyes in the 1:6 world. I still feel depressed when I think that Volks discontinued their Dollfie line. But at least we have this new doll company, and they have larger dolls as well, and a boy! You can never have too many anime-ish boys! (:
