Well, kind of hard to figure out how to title this thread since I'm like. "I MADE A DOLL. ...=D?...=D?" /Captain obvious to the rescue. Any way to the chase! FACE! Body! Comparison shot - with Alexei (AR Cien) covering his face in shame to be seen in gay bloomers. It insults his manliness. Various angles! Profile is not his strong point. Something is wrong with his chest. I think it's too flat? That and he's got this wtf pooch on his lower stomach, yeeah, I need to hack that off. I would show a picture of him from behind but it is waaay fuzzy. Besides wanting to know what you think of him I reeeally want a lot of feed back as far as goes joint mechanism and what you reccomend for his size and look. Where should I place the torso joint? How about just above the hips? Because if I did the CP underwear joint thing he'd topple backwards all the time I fear, and I'd have to resculpt his hips to fit the cut, or so I do believe. Correct me if I am wrong. I dont have too much experience with making (functional) torso joints DDD: So I'm a little afraid I'll mutilate him. And for his legs. I want this boy to be as flexible as I can possibly make him but without him having like 36543 different parts you know? (I never did understand just how those shoulder and hip sockets on CP dolls helped flexibility, I never did. D: ) Because too many divisions in his body can be hard on the eyes or so I think. I am set on cutting his legs with an L or a curve in the thigh socket for added flexibility but what do you think if I made his knees double jointed too? That too much?
He looks wonderful ^_^ For the joint, I think since you have such nicely defined ribs, you would be able to split it there very cleanly. It kind of depends how you think it looks best. I like hte male torsos that aren't split. You can still string them without it being split, you know ^_^;;
Hey thanks, both of you ^^. I kind of mutilated his ribs today though, sadly, trying to figure out how the heck to fix his unnatural torso at a profile. ;3;
Awww~ His face is so cute! I think your problem with the chest part is that it isn't curved. The human body curves a little in an "S" shape, if you bend the neck forward just a little and bend the pelvis back a little it'll take that shape and I think you'll find it to be more aesthetic. :3 Push really gently, a little at a time and you shouldn't smuch him much. Good luck!
Thanks ~! I fixed what i mutilated of his torso in trying to do that already but it didnt fix my problem...I did it wrong. I wonder if like. Letting it chill in the fridge and then trying at that would work.
wow, this is really nice. he looks like a 'real' bjd, like he looks like the other doll you laid him down next to! was he your inspiration?
Thankyou very much. And No, I have been trying to sculpt an AJBD since before I got my AR Cien. Given, said doll does act as a reference to see just how his joints and whatnot works. My inspiration was that I wanted another MSD sized doll but I always have a hard time finding a face that I like that's in my price range. ^^;
Haha, he could be Als litle cousin. Or cellmate... I saw him on the other forum, and I love his face. Its so cute! Dont forgwt to smooth him as much as you can before baking him. You can use plain water to help smooth without your fingers catching the clay-sanding him will remove any shininess the water creates, plus it doesnt react with the clay so it doesnt harm it! I like the torso a lot-as its quite similar to Als in its proportions, In think you can split him just under the ribs. That way you can still use Al for a reference when creating the holes for stringing etc.
I haven't read all the other comments, so excuse me if I'm repeating... XD I really love him! Especially the fifth photo of him with the wig and three quarter view! He's oddly realistic and it really works. And his profile is lovely. (: As for the chest, I think one thing you could do is to push in the bottom of the neck column, as to make it look more like it is at an angle than just straight up. This will push out the chest more and add more of a curve to the back without having to resculpt a whole bunch of things. I can't say I know this from sculpting on my own (I'm a beginner and only have worked with ceramics) but instead from years of figure drawing. Hope it helps! Good luck with him! And if you don't mind my asking, what kind of clay or material are you using?
Yay! He has such a cute lil' face, you did a great job Gosh, everybody is so talented here, very well good luck on finishing him
Hey, thanks everybody ^^ I'm gone for 3 weeks and wow here's catchign up to do @@... Thanks for all the advice onhow to part and modify his body, I'm keeping that in mind. Unfortunately that cute face of his is charred black now ;_;. I have no idea if I can sand it. Well, it's smooth at least, so I'm sure it's castable...Right? And I found a foundry *LAwl found a foundry* that is like, 20 minutes away from home. YAY! He fits 14-18 mm eyes in those sockets o' his (Well, I'm not sure about the 18 since, I'm told the eyes I got are 16s but I swears they're 18s.)
oh my god, wayyy too cute! i really like his face. most artist's bjds tend to have faces that are awkward...this one is tooooo adorable!
Guide - Thanks D: I need to find a hook thing small enough for them though. The fingernails are also not the prettiest to look at (If you can even see them) but I like to think the structure is nice . Shizuo - Yeah, he is MSD Size. I have no idea how exactly tall he will be since I never draw plans, but I aim to get him as close to 44 cm as possible. Sterbach - I used Super Sculpey. Which I have no idea if you can sand it after it's burnt (That's a hint for someone to please answer htis question because right now Mogley here's face is BURNT AND BLACK D: ) Also, if I painted him (To cover up said burnt ness basically, and give him a skintone) that would mess up the casting process, wouldn't it? I'd have to totally remove the paint. Right? CandyKisses - Thanks 3 I need to D: I found a place close to here where I can do that. Hopefully they're affordable ;3;.
the same thing happened to me, and I'm still in the panic process too. I asked on my doll thread too and there's no answer yet. searched the net about burned sculpey too but theres still no clear answer. I tried sanding after the burning, and it went kinda strange. (I managed to take off the bubble. did it bubble while burning on yours too??) and I was so sad to see her all black that I painted her white (but I don't plan on casting her so I dont know if you'd have to take off the paint) before sanding her completely smooth. yeah. kinda stupid but the black made me feel sad when looking at it
Lawl thanks you guys. And Nataneko, I sanded him anyway and for me I haven't had any adverse reactions in him. As for getting a doll casted, it doesnt matter whether you paint the doll because prior to making the mold a caster should/will spray the surface with what is it called, chilaque? So it prevents any sort of mishaps. Shotaboy/Wasabi/Mogley has a jointed torso now~. I gotta 1. Load up pictures and 2. give him arms. Arms, that should be the better plan of attack right, rather than doing legs first? O:
Just thought I'd say that your boy is absolutely adorable and that I wish I could sculpt a torso as well as you.
very impressive...i'm looking forward to seeing some more picture of him as he comes along (he is a boy right? I wasn't positive because his body is asexual so I thought maybe he's an angel or something like that...)
Wow~ I forgot about this thread being up! Well thankyou guys, seriously . Thankyou, Kyo O: I would honestly love to cast him . I just gotta figure out if I can (And finish him first. ; ; ) I haen't worked on him in months, school and whatnot in the way. Thankyou, Jess, Xaren, and Kyos, I'm flattered ! Unfortunately due to sitting around the house in general neglect, that torso isn't as pretty as it used to be. Needs sanding and work, I think I'll get back to it. x3 I have to make him new hands though, I broke them x_x. There wasn't anything within the fingers. Well, I'll call it a learning experience. x3
hehehe he's so cute, almost girly-cute! his tummy looks like a girl tummy i reckon.. awww^^ *is fangirl*
