Hi dolls, I don't know why I didn't officially join sooner. I have been a long-time lurker of this forum and have found the encyclopedic information shared by members to be so informative and fun to read. Like many children, I played with 1/6 fashion dolls and never gave them up. Over the years my collection has grown to include antique and vintage dolls as well as dollhouses. Now my direction has moved onto the resin BJDs. My favorites are the high fashion BJDs, although my collection is heavily female, I like children and male dolls as well to create an extended family of sorts. Also, I have been pondering in making a 1/4 or 1/3 scale dollhouse in a Victorian or Edwardian style to store my girls (and boys). Thank you for reading.
1/3 or even 1/4 scale dollhouse would be so cool! And huge! Hope you share if you decide to take a go at it.
I don't personally have a 1/3 in my home, but I feel like your doll house would need a base for the preschool at house. Do you have any sketches to share? Certainly curious since I haven't seen anything like it in my limited experience
I have been wanting to share my dollhouse plans. Due to practicality reasons, I am leaning towards 1/4 scale or the less common 1/5 scale, which is between 1/6 Barbie Scale and MSD and would fit most of my MSDs and look good in scale. Once, back in 2008 I saw a dollhouse, well it was a Georgian Mansion, made for 1/3 dolls in an art gallery and it was a gigantum behemoth. It was an exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery in London celebrating the iconic looks of Dutch fashion designers, Viktor & Rolf. They had these 24" inch BJDs with bisque heads reminiscent of antique french dolls and well as human scale BJDs mannequins with the same style bisque heads. I am not sure if I can link this video to the exhibit. If not allowed, I can take it down.
Since most dollhouse kits and plans are in the 1/12 scale, I have been looking at those plans and been narrowing down the ones I like. Then I do the math to convert the scale from 1/12 to 1/4 or 1/5 scale to determine what I can realistic build and fit in my house. There are plans that I absolutely love, but had to be scrapped because it would be too overwhelming in MSD scale.
