@muharuka your bobby is lovely! I am ordering one this week. Did you order her with default face up or it was custom made? I would like her teeth to be painted but not sure about what xaga does with them

@muharuka, love her mouth! Your girl is so cute!! Yes, I usually go for custom faceups too, but the girl who painted my dolls is retired now and I am having a hard time to find someone else, so I am doubting about what to do...

 

OMG, @muharuka, she is adorable! I had no idea that the sculpt even had visible teeth. I don't think that you can see them in the company photos at all. I'm even more excited now!

I just received Lara and Ken from Alice's Collections! They are wonderful! It has only been two months since I ordered and I did NOT expect them this soon! Now to find some wigs and something to make them decent for pictures!

I've pretty recently become crazy about fashion sized BJD's and smaller mature dolls like the red obsidian series. Can't believe I didn't get more into these types of dolls before now!


I'm very new to these dolls. Is it the same whether you say Fashion Dolls or Model Dolls? Are they the same type of dolls or is there a difference? And what are the mature Red Obsidian dolls considered as?

 

If I understand correctly, the term "fashion doll" is typically used to describe 1:6 scale playline dolls, whereas "model dolls" are higher-end and can be in any scale. The term more refers to the body type and proportions (they tend to look more like runway models, having smaller head-to-body ratios and longer, more lithe body proportions than other BJDs).

I think the Red Obsidian dolls would be considered 1:6 scale BJDs. It isn't a common scale but it is occasionally done.
They're not fashion dolls even though they are fashion doll size; and I don't think they'd be considered model dolls either. They're essentially the same as Xaga's Blue Obsidian series, just smaller.

 

I would refer to them a mature tinies or mature 1/6 scale. YO type dolls are referred to as 1/6 scale, but they really are not.

 

Oh I completely forgot that YoSDs are called 1:6 BJDs! I always call them tinies or YoSD. They're really not 1:6 scale at all.

Yeah, I agree with the terms "mature tinies" or "mature 1:6".

I only ordered her in january at Alices Collections. Very fast delivery!

I ordered a Nono for my friend on January 20th as a first BJD and a bday present. I'm looking forward to seeing her - the doll will ship to me and I will then hand her over to my friend.
I ordered her with a faceup so I hope it turns out ok, I've heard conflicting accounts on their quality.
I gotta say I really love how the COA is in an envelope with a wax seal. I'm looking forward to seeing that too.

 

I just got my min Ann from Alice Collections as well. I ordered her after my Myou doll and got her before. Here is a picture of her.



The wig is too big but lots of the items I ordered for her haven't arrived yet. I was thinking about trying to change her feet but I'll leave that alone for now.

 

I decided to tackle the nonsense that was the heeled feet today. I will never buy such a thing again. Unless the doll has separate feet for heels (Like my Island Doll), anything attached to the knee will never be a good idea for me. I ended up chipping some of the resin around the knees getting them off which wasn't a big deal because I'm calling the heel feet a lost cause. I can't even find shoes to fit them so I guess in the end it doesn't even matter.

She fits Barbie shoes well with the smaller feet and since I now have the hooks in the feet, changing them out will be easier. I am so glad I actually had small S Hooks on hand because of another doll where I lost his hook. If I didn't this would have been even more of a nightmare to complete.

Anyway, here she is in her shoes. These are just place holders until I actually get her real shoes in from my Taobao order.

My friends Nono arrived! I wasn't going to open her so that my friend could, but Dolk sent her in a MASSIVE box, and since I have to bring the box with me on a plane, I thought it'd be best to just open it (as the actual Xagadoll box is muuuch smaller). Plus my friend wanted me to send pics, so I did open her just for that, and to make sure she was all okay.
I gotta say, I was really blown away, she's absolutely adorable. The quality of the resin and the faceup was much higher than I expected.


I cant wait to see her with a wig and clothes! Unfortunately I had to pack her back up and put the box in my closet, where she has to stay until early May.

Aw! She's so cute! Her outfit is so adorable. The wig is wonderful as well. I'm trying to find the right one for my doll and I think I have a contender. I'm also making her a wig and it's turning out well but I to halt everything because I'm moving. I have packed up all my doll and craft related items. I have two weeks here and it's killing me.

I am totally in love with these sized dolls. I want an army of them now. Xaga just released two more dolls in this collection but they are slated to be limited. They are named Riko and Yuri.

 

Moving is so stressful! We are looking for another house. My craftroom is not big enough anymore. lol
I like making outfits for my dolls. She can share dresses with off topic Momoko.

Have any of you guys bought your doll directly from Xagadoll? There's no shopping cart option and no shopping guide so I would appreciate some info about your experience of communicating with the company. Thaanks.

 

I wish I could tell you! I ordered from Alice's Collections and it was really easy. They were able to order the doll I wanted and she isn't even listed on their website. I think you can e-mail them but I didn't really have to since I didn't order direct. This is what they have listed as their e-mail address: [email protected] and they also have a communication system on their website (Message Form). I would try reaching out to them for any assistance. Right now I know there is a small holiday going on in China, The Tomb Sweeping Ceremony (QingMing Festival), so I don't know if they are taking a break for the occasion. Alice's Collections told me that my other doll just came in but they would not be able to ship it until Wednesday for that reason. So if you do contact them and they don't get back to you, don't worry. That could be why.

Girl, that's the reason I'm moving too. I do things like resin crafts, jewelry making and I want to get into sewing. I got a sewing machine two Christmases ago from my Grandmother but could do nothing with it because I live in a studio apartment with no space. So, time to go. Ha.

 

I've been considering buying one of XagaDoll's 1/3 dolls for quite some time but only just bothered to look at their Tinies and omg they're all adorable! I particularly like Coco-1 (the more boyish one), such a cutie! It's been a long time since I've been this tempted buy a YOSD, does anyone have a Coco they can share pics of? Either one is fine!

Also, how do you guys find their posing abilities?

Does anyone have any photos of xaga's mature dolls and their bodies? How is their posing? I think I really like syivia, Lara and Ken but can't really find much for pictures. It probably doesn't help that there's so many non-functioning photobucket links out there, but I have to find some owner photos!

I've mainly been trying to stick to a fairyland minifee collection because they all fit so nicely together and can all share clothes, but these mature tinies are stuck in my mind... maybe I can make them little fairy friends to the minifees.

 

I second that request! Legenddoll does have a few pictures of the bodies and posing - I'll share those here just in case - but I'd really like to see more, particularly of the boy body!

I ordered him with a faceup! I liked the one they showed on the official Cyrus pictures, so I figured I'd risk it. I guess that might add another month or so to my wait time. Whoops!

 

I'm not always a fan of company faceups, but in the case of Xaga I think they look really nice! It's probably worth the extra wait time please please share when he finally arrives, I'm dying to see more!

I have a review video I'm editing right now that has my two newest (ish) Xagas in it too so you'll be able to see them a little more. (Very little... I have no light this time of year... )

 

Holy cats, my Cyrus shipped! I only ordered him about two months ago - I was prepared to wait way longer than that. Booyah, Xagadoll.

 

I have a Cyrus in hand! The person who packs for Alice's Collections takes no risks - the entire box was mummified in tape.

Here'a a quick phone snapshot just for grins - I swear he looks nicer in person:

His faceup is of pretty good quality, but he has a black smudge on his chin that I can't seem to remove. (It's making me want to give him a li'l chinbeard.) Also, powdery mold release left in his knee joints, now all over my fingers, glah, smelly.

Still, though, he's quite nice! His joints have a good range of motion, he poses pretty well, and he stands like a rock. I do have to fiddle with his hip joint to get him to sit - there are little 'sitting position' grooves for both elastic cords and, if I don't get the elastics in there properly, SPROING. Still, now that they're in, he's sitting without a problem. He's about the same height as my Souldoll Little Kimmy and my assorted Lumedoll Lights, so I expect he counts as Ken-doll-sized.

Now I need to get the poor boy a temporary outfit and wig before he freezes to death!
