    1. Have you ever put something on your doll, knowing it was a awful idea?
As in you just needed to put something, anything, on them so they weren't just sitting around nude until you could get clothes for them?
Did it work or not work?
I would love to see your pictures!
So let us start with mine!

My Souldoll Elroy (unnamed) was forced into a JID top and a pair of pleather Feeple60 pants.
Boy does he look FABULOUS! :XD:

    2. I do not quite get the thing about dolly hell. But no, I never put my dolls in just anything. As I mostly sew/craft their outfits myself, they have to wait patiently and naked until it is done. Although I have to admit that I start with the bottoms, so that it is not too bad at least for my boys.

    3. I go overboard with buying clothes while I’m waiting for my doll to arrive so I have never run into this problem, luckily!

    4. @Ipledreamer By "Dolly Hell" I mean just doing something that you know is a terrible idea. While I was fitting Elroy's booty into the pleather pants, I was just laughing to myself while imagining the things he'd say to me (mostly all cuss words). I am in the process of making things for them myself but since I've never made pants before it is taking longer than expected especially after receiving my first two boys at once.

@ShannonPatricia These are my first two boys and they are both SoulKids, so I'm finding clothing purchases are a bit harder than expected. Lack of open funds doesn't help me either. XD

Saskia spent her first two months with me or so giving me the stink eye, but the first few days were definitely the worst. A pastel wig and lavender jumper just don't suit her. At all. In any way. (I feel the soulkids pain.)

    6. I have one wig and one pair of pants that EVERY doll I own has worn at one point for another. All my big hipped dollzone boys, my sd boy, my 70cm boy is currently wearing the pants even now.
They're blue "genie" pants with green patches that I bought at Target for like ten bucks, meant for a baby doll

    7. So, in this one Dana has on Little Lord Fauntleroy pants (you can't tell very clearly), Mac has on a shirt that's wayyyy too big, & poor Kenny's got on a shirt that's too small & a pair of premmie baby pants LOL

    8. When I got my first doll, I hastily sewed a pain of jeans, except I can't sew at all. So these jeans are massive, clown trousers cinched at the waist and bunched up. They look absolutely terrible. Yet they still seemed better than being naked: so a lot of my dolls (all but one are boys) wore my hem rather than be naked. Now I tend to buy an outfit and have it waiting for them. Since I make wigs, most of them borrow a hat while waiting for their wig because I hate bald heads.

It also looked quite funny when Loki had no boots. He has a replica of the film costume that I found online, and he looked quite sinister except for the fact he was standing about in his socks... White socks!

    9. Most of my dolls are yosds and I did finally get a body for my msd head. I think I’ll just keep her in the box until I find some clothes for her, though. I did display my first doll Ai in my room when she didn’t even have a wig!

    10. Annix has been suffering the indignity of his ill-suited, ill-fitting wig since I got him in May. I simply can't find a wig I like that suits him that isn't also a) a girl's wig so too long or b) the wrong colour.
JoJo is laid back but my poor danseur doesn't have any real pants. I got him two pairs of tights because they were on sale and would be the best fit, but they're so feeble and thin compared to Pike's jeans or Annix's trousers. JoJo looks like he's always loafing in his longjohns :[

    11. I'm afraid of stains so my dolls are always nude and shut in a box away from the sun. Like vampires, they go out in the night where I dress them up... until I get rid of their clothes again.
(I'm still a newbie so I'm afraid of anything lol)

    12. I don't generally get my dolls with "characters" in mind, and I have a policy of making all (or at least ~90%) of their clothing myself, so usually they sit around naked until I get around to trying something... and then they're only half-naked while I very gradually work up more garments and accessories until they have something resembling a full outfit.

But I made my first doll a peplos dress out of a tea towel and some ribbon because she arrived in November and my apartment was really cold and it made me feel cold looking at her sitting there naked! My second doll stayed naked a looooong time, though, because her ice-blue resin makes her look like a ghost or a nymph or something else that wouldn't be bothered, so it didn't bother me either lol.

    14. If I don't have something that suits a specific doll when it arrives, I will just let it sit around nekkid. I rarely buy clothes before a doll actually arrives, because I can't seem to get an idea of anyone's style until they're in my hands.

    16. Haha. WELL - I was just talking about this yesterday. I have no clothes for Lilly yet. So I picked up a porcelain doll dress from the Thrift Store and used s grocery clip to hold it onto her while taking her picture (my avatar photo) Lol! You can't see the clip so SHHHHHH NO ONE NEEDS TO KNOW

    18. My first doll was fullset, so luckily i didn't have the problem with her clothing. But now when I'm buying basic dolls with no clothing and faceups, at first i prefer to do their faceup and blush the way i like it, and keep them undressed until i got them perfect clothes that gonna fit well. :3

    19. When I first joined this hobby, I would put my dolls in anything that I had, which were mostly hand sewn items made before the doll arrived home. Needless to say, most of these never really fit properly or looked completely out of character, and I would end up having to start all over. Never making that mistake again. Now I would rather have my dolls lounge around naked and take the time to properly sew an outfit (or at the very minimum, pants).

    20. I'm generally pretty patient and also kind of a perfectionist so my dolls will sit naked and unpainted and without eyes or hair until i find exactly what I see in my head for them. Or have it made.

    23. I just can't let my dolls go naked. To those who can, I admire your free spirit!
My naked fairy-type dolls are always wearing at least an accessory or two. They don't need clothing for warmth, but, wow, are they fashion-conscious! My human-type dolls get a covering until they get proper clothes. I think of a story-line of dolly dire straits until they emerge victorious into better times with new clothes!

    25. Usually yeah I try to find them something. I bought a Yo-SD boy and I already bought him some clothes that'll likely get here before he does. I think the worst was when I first got into the MSD scale and tried to make my boy some clothes.

Those... Pics are best left in clothing hell.

I make sock clothes for my dolls too. Nice looking sock clothes but they work.

    27. I tend to get each one a default outfit before they arrive (or I give them a faceup and put them together), so they're often readily dressed in something.

If I were to go to dolly hell for anything, however...it'd be for subjecting a few to some...ahem---humorous garb:

    28. The clothes I had bought for my first doll did not all fit when he arrived. Most notably, he did not have pants. He wound up wrapped in a scarf until I made something better for him.

    29. Ideally, I would love to have clothing for my doll before/when the doll arrives. Reality? I'm so picky about clothing that it's been something like a month since I placed my preorder and I STILL can't find anything I like. I'm officially worried that my doll is going to end up not having anything to wear when she gets here. I'm going to attempt to sew some cute underwear...despite not having anything to go off of other than a rough estimate on measurements. She'll get here just before A-Kon, so I figured I'd wait to buy clothes at the convention and then shop online if I couldn't find anything after that. I sure hope my guesstimating skills pull through here. Worst case scenario, I'll just make a strapless dress out of stretch fabric. Really hard to mess that up.
