I bought a Raphael Fullset for USD1.5K and it was destroyed in shipping. The doll was originally given a paintjob that I didn't request, but paid half of the full body paint price for just to get so I wouldn't have to wait for a new doll to be produced since there were only 20 ever made. BJDiva says that the joint damage to the doll doesn't count because the original paint job wouldv'e eventually scuffed. So, I have to deal with a scuffed doll and replacement parts instead of the mint condition doll that I ordered. My last email is what I've said here and my last reply was that I wanted what I paid for. Would it be better to wait and have evidence of them being uncooperative before filing an insurance claim with UPS?
I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think it's normally best to file an insurance claim as soon as possible. If the claim is against the shipping company, the distributor's response to the situation might not be relevant.
I was under the impression only the sender can file for insurance claims, but it may be different for UPS
In all honesty, you're not likely to get insurance to pay for scuffed paint. It's like pulling teeth to get them to pay for even stuff like broken fingers. It really sucks and you should be given a partial refund, but unfortunately this is a battle you're not likely to win
