Shopping Would it be better to buy dolls now or during the Christmas/ Chinese New Year season?

Unless you buy an in-stock doll, you probably won't be able to gift your friend a doll for Christmas. Most dolls take at least 4-5 months to make.

You'll probably have better luck getting her clothes or accessories for Christmas, but you need to pay attention to the sales descriptions for how long it'll take to ship. Some places can ship quickly as they have the clothes in stock but other places only make the clothes after you order and so you might not be able to get them in time for Christmas.

 

there are plenty of places that have dolls in stock, depending on the company they can be pretty affordable too. (like resinsoul) if you're in the states, denverdoll has a large amount of ready to ship bjds at any given time from multiple companies. their shipping time is pretty quick too.

 

Well, it partly depends on what company you're planning to buy from.

A lot of companies (mainly Korean ones) have Christmas events, so Christmas time is one of the good times to buy from them. There are also ones that have some sort of discount all year round like Dollmore and Supiadoll.

For Chinese companies, they usually have sales during the major Chinese sales times, like Double 11, Double 12, National Day/Golden Week and Chinese New Year.

I'd suggest having a look at the discussion threads and news announcements of the companies you're interested in to see when they usually do sales.

 

The sales for CNY are bigger and more likely to include things like bonus parts or limited new releases (or at least right now I’m not seeing a lot of new limiteds coming out for 11/11) That being said many Taobao/AliExpress stores are having sales on clothing and accessories so if your friend already knows what size of doll she wants and is OK waiting you can start ordering outfits for it now.

 

If you want to pre-order your friend something as a Christmas gift you can always print off the order confirmation and put it in a card. I think even if the doll or whatever it is you are waiting on isn't ready yet, hard not to be excited for it.

If you are in the US, you might try Denver Doll Emporium (DDE). They have a lot of various company dolls in stock at any given time and I have had them ship a doll to me the very same day I paid!

 

There’s also some dolls on the junkyspot that are in stock and ship pretty fast. But honestly if my friend gifted me a doll for Christmas even if it was just an email confirmation I would be so happy and excited

 

Try JunkySpot on Black Friday. You'll have to move quick since it's limited to only in-stock items, but typically in the past they've listed various dolls throughout the day with nice discounts on them, so it's definitely worth taking a look!

 

There will be some In-stock dolls for sale on 11/11 from my experience. That would be your bet. Chinese new year offer you the greatest sale if it's a chinese company but it's not that huge different from 11/11 or 12/12.
