Withdoll 60cm discussion

Yaaaay! I've been waiting for this. I really hope there is a smiling girl sculpt, like Kiara, only SD size. I adore Kiara but haven't been collecting the MSD size lately. It would be a dream come true to get one like her in the right size.

I'm loving how that body looks so far too. Looks like great poseability. Interesting knee design too!

 

I've been tempted by several of their fantasy minis, but don't want any adult-sculpt minis since most of my girls are large sized. So, if they keep the same feel, I can see myself picking up some of their large girls.

 

i am a little dissapointed the jointing isnt under the bust like the minis, but of course if they make any 1/3 LE fantasy/armored dolls ill be in trouble ><

 

She looks pretty amazing to me! Can't wait to see more!

 

I can only imagine the boys if they decide to make them.........60cm Aiden.....that would be sweet.

 

I can't wait to see some of these with armor! I love their fantasy MSD's, but I already have too many in general. I could swing getting a couple of these larger ones though

 

I have been waiting for them to do a larger scale! I only one an Angela, but her body poses wonderfully! And she seems to have hardly any seams on her, and that's saying a lot considering she's the Rosy Brown color. I can't wait to see what they come up with. I think they are my second favorite company.

 

I've always loved Withdoll but I only really collect 1/3 size so I'm so excited to see the full release of these girls!

 

I wonder how soon is 'soon'? A couple weeks? Months? I need to start setting aside funds for it.

I will absolutely be on board if they have an 'assassin' like theme for these girls. A dagger-wielding assassin girl... Yeeeeaah, I basically just want a big Kiara.

 

Oh YAY! I have been eying the MSDs from Withdoll, but as I already have a bunch of SDs and an immature MSD, I did not want them to look weird next to my crew. This is going to be great!!

I really like the body! I love the rib joint as it seems to me the best place for natural posing (I am not a fan of underbust joints for that reason).
Sadly I had a girl on layaway that will take me most of the year to pay off, but I know once I do where my resin pennies are going to be going!

And just when I thought I might be "done buying dolls"...

 

Wow, a Withdoll SD girl. Looks promising, I wonder what sculpt will they have in SD size. I sure want one very soon

 

This is great, I've been very tempted a bunch of times by their mini's, I love the aesthetic but that size just isn't for me. I'll be looking forward to seeing what they do. If they make sculpts as nice as what I've seen then resistance will be futile...

 

Wow, I can't wait to see the release! Hopefully they make the boot feet/heels for this size too.

 

I've been admiring Withdoll but realised after seeing how tiny they are compared to my SDs they wouldn't really suit the little sister look I was hoping for. 60cm might not fit that bill either but maybe she could be a big little sister!

Such a great looking body! I hope the prices are as good as they are for their smaller line.

 

I really like the detail of the belly! It is super cute! She is thin and fit, but still soft at the same time.
If the price is nice on these, I might consider them for the floating heads I have. I can always find someone to color match the heads to the bodies if the resin match does not work out.

 

The body is beautiful and graceful. Love the knee joints and her stomach.

 

Ooh very interesting! I am awaiting my Kiara. So far I only have MSD sized dolls. But this may help me figure out if I want a SD doll.

 

i hope withdoll will put up more info/pictures of them soon!

I messaged Withdoll about these girls and they said that they'd made some modifications on the body, so I suppose that explains the lack of further news and photos. But hopefully they will have more photos up soon, since the work is now complete. ^^ They've been slow replying on the board lately, so I'd assume they're busy taking photos (since their Q&A manager is also their photographer). I certainly hope that they didn't modify the body too much from these original photos, as I really love how it looks and the jointing seems very functional. Well, the torso joint could be a little closer to the waist to make it perfect, but at least it's not right under the breasts. There should be no gaping holes and sharp edges when you bend it, yay! I definitely need my dolls to be able to slouch~

I also mentioned to them that the first girl looks similar to Priscilla and they replied that she indeed does. So it appears they've intentionally made her similar to Priscilla. Great news for her fans, I'm sure. ^^ I must admit I'm drawn to the second girl, her kissy lips are just adorable! I tried to think if she also looked similar to one of their mini girls, and when I compared the blank photos of their new mini girl Kiara to her, I think the shape of her eyes and lips is a bit similar. Their noses and jawline seem different, though... but yeah, I think there's some similarity between the two sculpts. :3

I'm so impatient to see the pictures... I think I will order the smiling girl ! Really love her lips too ^^

 

Changes? Oh, no! I really like them the way they were. Perhaps it will be better though. Waiting is hard!

I really am liking the smiling one, but may have to wait for more sculpts. I really do hope they release some armor too! I'm in dire need of a tan SD with armor!

I love the way the body looks. I have been searching for a 60cm doll and I think I just fell in love! She is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to hear more about this sculpt.
Will definitely be eyeing this ~

 

Oooh, I don't know if it's the make-up/blush but I'm a little disappointed.. I like the blank pictures more !

 

I'm really loving the new body! I like the second head, the one not smiling so much, more than the first. they are both cute, but I prefer older looking sculpts. They are too young for me. But I will plan to get a body eventually!

 

Yeah, not a fan of the smiling girl's faceup, especially on gray skin. It's too pale and young looking. But I like the sculpt a lot. ^^ I can't wait to see if they'll have armor and whatnot, which will easily be the deciding factor for me for their first round.

 

Hmmm... Like the body but I think I'm safe for now! Whew! But I still can't wait to see more!

 

Yay! Oh, I really like both of them. I would probably have a custom faceup though I do think they are pretty. Not happy that they are listed in the Limited Edition section......

 

This also has me nervous :/ I really like the sculpt that's not smiling and I would really like to get her sometime in the future.

 

Initially I liked the smiling girl more but now with face ups, I kind of prefer the Priscilla look-a-like. xD;; Well, maybe it's just the face up as I do like the smiling girl blank. But they look quite a bit younger than I expected... well, hopefully they will make more mature faces in the future. And I'm also hoping for different bust sizes, these look like a medium size to me... I'd love to see a small bust and a large bust as well. :3

I think that they're in the limited section because it's a completely new line of dolls. They probably don't want to open basic orders just yet, since they haven't produced them before. They've been manufacturing their 40cm line for around five years now, so the whole process is familiar to them and they roughly know how many orders they can expect and how long it will take for them to fullfill those orders. I think that they're going to start with a time limited period at first to familiarise themselves with the production process. They're a small company with a staff of five people, and only two people do all the casting, sanding and assembling. Personally I feel that it's good that they are starting small, so that they won't get too overwhelmed.

And as Yenna said, Withdoll tends to eventually release most of their Limited sculpts as Basics. These girls have human ears, too, so it's likely that basic versions will be available in the future. ^^

 

Yay I did it! ^^ I saw the sale that Withdoll put up today and ordered Cecily in Real skin. I didn't get the faceup because I'll want to commission someone for it after she arrives and go for a more mature/sexy look. She does have a roundish face, but I think it can be pulled off. Now I wait in anticipation for what the limiteds are going to be like to see if I want the extra parts too!

Oh, I'm actually rather disappointed... Those knee joints are hideous when bent! Quite the deal breaker for me. And I'd been waiting for them to put out a 60cm body pretty much since they opened too. T_T

 

The peanut knees are a bit odd, especially since they did such a nice job with doing an elbow to help the arm joint appear more natural. Most of my girls wear longer dresses or pants, so I should be able to over look the Lego looking knees.

My only real concern is the neck might be a little thick for my taste. Though the heads I may hybrid with this body are a bit on the larger side, so it might work out in my favor in the end.

I just super hope they make basics so I am able to get a few bodies down the road! I wish I could jump in on this sale, but alas!

 

They can CROUCH!!!? I have always wanted an doll that could do that!

And the photos with the Delf! THANK YOU! I have two Fairyland heads that I want to hybrid onto this body and seeing Delf and WD side by side and the head swap is making this combo go to the top of my list!

While the knees do look a little strange when bent, I think the overall shape and style of these bodies is fantastic!! I love both the face sculpts and I'm really impressed with what I've seen of the poseability of these bodies. I might have to start saving for one of these girls

I love that they're taking feedback into account! That's so cool and nice. ; v ; I love this body, these girls are so beautiful... Withdoll always delivers on the loveliness front. I might have to get one of these girls myself someday, so cute...! (And it would be nice to have a standard-sized doll in the house...)

 

That's not a very good choice. The other choice of course would be pretty knees that work. Not an impossible task for others. Withdoll's have such beautiful legs that I want them to show so it's not like they would be wearing pants. But in the end I would sacrifice usefulness for aesthetics.

 

Seconding what Yenna said. Each sculptor has their own style and expertise, they can't just make a complete turnaround all of a sudden. It took them well over a year to develop this body, so if they now started experimenting on various types of knees... it would take a long time to test different options to find a solution that works. Not to mention, they can't really go and adapt Company X's style of knees, 'cause soon people would be blaming them of copying. ^^;

I was a little weirded out by the knees at first, but once I got to see and handle them in person, I don't think they're that bad - especially considering how stable and poseable they are (the 40cm girls' knees always drove me crazy, so these are a huge improvement compared to those). And yeah, they even posted in the news about how they've read customer feedback about the knees and are making the line softer, so... I'm sure they'll be prettier. ^^

Ooo Mizya, I love your Cecily! That faceup is gorgeous. Definitely makes me more excited for the potential in my incoming Cecily. ^^

 

What skin color is Cecily in her promo pictures? At first I thought it was the normal gray skin, but that is not an option. They only offer her in gray (UV). There's also a new skin tone called "Sweet Blue" - could that be it?

 

She's so gorgeous, Yenna! And really, with the face-up you gave her, I think she really could be an older version of your character, like perhaps she softened a little as she got older. Either way, just stunning!

I'm curious to find out what else they have planned for the fullsets too. They posted the teaser for Cecily and it looked different than their usual stuff (she looks like a ghost or somesuch!) I really want more. ^^ Really can't wait for my girl to arrive too, but I'm expecting a wait of three months or more...
