I did a search on wiring threads, but I still had a couple of questions. My Soo does NOT like standing. She does it if she doesnt have any clothes on, and is barefoot, but she doesnt like it. So yesterday I went and got her some wire. I followed the tutorial on this site, but after doing that, instead of one leg buckling and kicking up, both of them did it at the same time. So today I took the wire out, and rewired it through the torso. What I did was folded over one piece of wire, an came down through the neck, through the torso, and then plit off to go down the legs. I thought this would help her legs to stand straight. It did help her knees, but her hip joints still buckle. Is there anything else I can do? I have her laying flat right now, hoping this would help. I had thought about sueding her hip joints, but I didnt know if this would work. And if I were going to suede, do you think gluing white felt in would work as well? Also, It doesnt look like the seueding pattern is at the url anymore. Does anyone have this? Ok I think thats all I need to know about for now.
She might be too tight... Gabriel used to do the leg buckle thing, but evey night I had him lay flat and that really seemed to help.
Well, she is laying flat right now. How long do you think she needs to stay like that? Hours, days.... months?
I had Kika do yoga overnight every night for a couple of weeks, which helped a little more than just laying flat because it stretches the elastic more , but in the end I just restrung him. ^^;;
Yesterday when I got home from work, I tried to stand her up......and she wouldnt stand at all. So I broke down, and took the wire out of her. Now oddly she can stand pretty well. I even got her to stand in shoes, which she did NOT like doing before. Maybe the pulling on her strings when taking her legs apart numberous times stretched the cord out a little.
If you're like me, you find yourself saying things like, "Come on, dear, just TRY standing for me, ok?..." And then you feel like an idiot because you're sitting there talking to your doll... What's worse is when hubby says, from the other room, "What??" On a more helpful note...I found that lying Fiona down every night really helped her...she poses very nicely, standing and sitting. I really ought to do that for the rest of them, but I hate breaking them up at night, when they look so cozy together. But Jenibelle is really tightly strung, so she needs it. This thread has motivated me to start a little physical therapy for her... I hope your Soo continues to stand nicely for you!
I do that too! Except I am asking Soo why she is doing the Japanese bow when I lock her hips and knees. But so far so good...she is standing pretty well. At least in a perfectly straight, with her arms at her sides stance. I havent tried doing anything artsy with her pose. I will do that once I get the stand I ordered from her.
The other thing about CP dolls is that the resin is really smooooooth. Which is lovely to the touch, but not great for 'locking' into place, since everything is so slippery. ;D I coated just the joint parts of my El's legs with MSC (Testors I think would work just as well), and it's helped quite a lot, just to give it that extra bit of friction. And yep, I've gone through the yoga classes as well. Although I was doing some rather rigerous posing about a month back with him, and his elasitc just snapped. I've restrung him with new elastic, which is longer and more elastic-y then his old one, and that's helped quite a lot too. ^_^
