So, I ordered a Bei for my girlfriend's (amb2730) birthday, and I got her colored purple. Well, she came in and was super cute, but not really the color that she wanted. So I then ordered a white Bei, and planned to keep the purple Bei for myself. I got my workshop and airbrush set up in the new house, and started to prime and paint her used-to-be white Bei. Here's how its coming along. the workshop the start of color all laid out head and torso, she's coming together More pics to come sortly, I need to get some water based poly so I can shoot it through my airbrush and continue to spray inside away from the cold Also, my Bei is slotted for the next airbrushing job, here's the layout she will be posted in a more detailed WIP fashion, so keep your eyes out Justin
I love the color of your friends airbrushed bei. I wish that Bobobie used that color for their purple dollies!
wonderful !! mind if I be so curius to ask what paint that is ? I'm having some mod ideas but I'm not sure if the paint I usually use would stay on the joint's when used.
I got a large bottle of Craft Smart in Lavender. Im pretty sure its just random cheap paint from Michael's, but it works pretty nice. Since its going through an airbrush, I just did a 2:1 ratio of paint:water and it went in and on wonderfully. I did a few coats on each part, but taped off the major joints (the doll was previously dyed lilac, but didnt dye evenly, hence the painting) Ill get a pic of the joints later tonight when she's all sealed and ready for stringing Justin
So Ashy's Bei is done, all restrung (took us 4 hours) and all that jazz. this is a pic of her Bei (custom purple color) and my Bei (resinsoul default purple color). also, I have decided that my Bei will not be unstrung and painted, due to the sheer amount of hell it is to restring a Resinsoul doll. if you're planning to, I'd personally reconsider... anyway! I think she came out well, Justin
Actually being that I was using my airbrush and didnt want to have to be limited to aerosol cans, I sprayed her with Minwax Polycrylic Water-based Satin polyurethane. Used the same stuff on the hard wood floor in my house. She's got 2 coats, which judging by the thickness and how hard she is, is probably 10 coats out of an aerosol can. Justin
That's pretty sweet looking. Awesome gift, lucky girl. Anywho, make sure that what you seal the doll with is good, cause the joints may get a lot of wear, rubbing the paint job.
Pretty color! You know, the Resinsoul tinies aren't difficult to re-string at all if you put S-hooks in their wrists and ankles. I made mine out of paperclips, and they're holding up fine. Last time it took less than 20 minutes to re-string, I think.
I think in an earlier post it was mentioned that the joints were taped off, since they would rub off anyhow. I could be wrong. ^-^; That is a fabulous shade of purple though. I love the colour, purples my favorite, and thats a much more 'purple' shade than the RS shade. I wonder why they don't make theirs more purple. It really just looks like a dark shade of gray. Fabulous work! ^-^
