    3. Entry #11 has been disqualified from the competition for the prize due to offsite solicitation for votes.

    4. If we voted (unsolicited I might add) for #11 do we need to resubmit our votes?

    5. I am sorry, but we have decided not to allow re-voting under these circumstances. :(

    6. Oh, that's a shame. Ok, thank you.

    7. It is indeed a shame. Even some of the moderators had their votes tossed.

    8. This doesn't make sense because this wasn't a rule until today for this contest. How come the rules were changed mid-voting? How is that fair to the participants? I've seen posts from more than just Entry #11 on my facebook feed but there's no other disqualifications...

And to prove my statement, here's a screen cap I grabbed of the contest rules last week (August 20th) that doesn't mention anything about solicitation. (I was going to enter this contest but I didn't get done in time)

And now magically today rule 5 has been changed....

How is it fair to anyone if the rules can be changed on the fly?

    9. This is DoA based so as we arent supposed to disclose what entry is ours [if we entered] on DoA, asking for votes for your entry outside of DoA or on DoA to me means that you should be disqualified. I am 100% behind the mods for their decision. This is supposed to be anonymous so that votes can not be gained based on popularity of the individual who created the entry.

Also to clarify... that was said on the rest of the contests so just because it wasnt completely outlined on this before the disqualification, that does not mean the person disqualified should get a free pass. It was stated numerous times on all the other contests so why would this one be any different? Oh and before the rule "update" it does say that they are being shown anonymously. So saying outside of DoA which one is yours makes the entry no longer anonymous. Which means, you should be disqualified. And that is exactly what happened.

    10. I think the right thing to do in this circumstance is to tell the mods what wigs you have seen in your facebook feed. While not implicitly written in the rules to begin with I think all of us agree that when it says "your wig images will be shown anonymously" it is to ensure fair and equal voting for all participants. As The Raven said below it is a DoA based event for DoA Anniversary celebrations, and not a popularity contest. I agree with the disqualification, however unpleasant it may feel to the entrant.

BUT if there are more entries that circulated on social media before voting closed I think it only fair and honest that those who did circulate their images voluntarily withdraw their entries from being valid for a prize.

    11. Plastic Fantastic,

As has already been mentioned by your peers, similar stipulations have been written for the other contests; it is not a painful stretch of imagination to conclude that fair-play is desired in ALL of our contests. This anniversary has been unusually large. If every minute detail of what should be common knowledge needs to be written in a law-like fashion, there will simply be fewer or no contests in the future. We have faith that the active DoA membership can understand what is expected of them, and will feel comfortable enough to contact us if they are unsure or feel strongly about any subjects. Recent years have always had an Attitude and Participation Sticky as well.

Fairness is not a new concept. It should be understood by all entrants, as it has been made crystal clear numerous times in the numerous years that we have been running anniversary events. We expect that our members can surmise this on their own, given the design of anonymous entries, without us having to delineate every possible specific scenario that could ever incur disqualification. Previous disqualifications have occurred for the same offenses. This situation is not an exception.

The essential nature of the rules have not changed. Since it was unfortunately not understood, by all, that entrants should participate fairly, the rules were updated to reflect our expectations.

    12. If any other entrants are found to be soliciting votes with revealed identities, the result will be the same: disqualification. This is NOT a witch hunt, we simply investigate all reports that are brought to us in the Ask the Moderators subforum.

    13. If this is supposed to be completely anonymous, shouldn't all entries be disqualified? This is probably going to sound like splitting hairs but if nobody's supposed to know who did what wig, displaying them on their own dolls in whatever outfits they like makes this no longer anonymous since community members can recognize each other's dolls if they are prolific in the community or are familiar with some of the users that entered this contest.

    14. Really, PlasticFantastic, I find your attitude rather shocking, I don't understand what you want to demonstrate ?
It's not the same thing to post the wig on your doll here on DoA among the other ones to be judged and to ask on another network "go on DoA and vote for me" !
English isn't my native language, so I may have some problems to find the right words, but for sure fairness is not arguing about the exact mentions of authorized and forbidden things, it's about general respect of the works of everybody, entrants and moderators !

    15. I have to agree with MarquiseArtemise on this. The issue of recognizing someone's doll could have been a problem on the Triathlon challenge, but I believe the mods already addressed that. This seems like only a matter of people revealing their entries outside of DoA, and advertising for votes.
If you know of other people on your Facebook who have advertised, it would really help to make this contest the most fair it can be, if you submitted that information to the moderators.

I normally love posting about my work progress on BJD things, but I restrained myself from posting ANY information anywhere, since that's what the rules implied. (to the tune of keeping it all anonymous)

    16. In all of the contests I only recognized one doll that didn't belong to me. I find it odd - I know I wouldn't want to win unless I won because they thought my work really was the best.

    17. Unfortunately, it's inevitable that some owners' dolls (or even photography styles) will be recognizable. However, we would consider such a thing to be incidental... and we make every attempt to minimize the "popularity contest" aspect by presenting the entries anonymously and asking that participants refrain from revealing their work or identifying their entries.

The entrant in question was openly and directly soliciting votes, which goes against the spirit of the contest and fair play in general. In any case, I'm going to step in here as forum owner and say what the rest of the mods are too polite to say: the decision is final and the horse is paste. Thanks for your understanding. :daisy

    18. Not everyone likes the same type of dolls so them being recognizable doesn't make much of an impact. I look at stuff all over the forums but can only recognise a few dolls but rarely remember who their owners are unless I've been in discussion threads with them a lot. So again, not much of a problem compared to people soliciting votes outside DoA.

    19. To all the whiners in and about this and other threads: Keep it up! We'll probably end up NOT having a wonderful 10th Anniversary next year if you continue to make the mods' lives miserable. WHY should they go through so much of their free time for this if they're only going to get grief about it?

Whoever it was in *this* thread who was disqualified violated a rule that's been in place for a long, long time with these contests. I've had besties refuse to tell me which entry was theirs until the voting was over. It actually increases the fun of looking at the results and if you didn't win? So what? You gave it a shot.

Personally? I think the mods would be well within their rights to reinstate the "you whine, you complain, you bitch, you're OUT" rule that was in place a couple of years ago. The heartburn spoils it for everyone else.

And in a spirit of full disclosure I have no entries in ANY of the contests this year. I have been on a hiatus. I came back looking to rediscover some of the joy in DoA, of which this is usually a prime source. What do I find? Greedy whining. Geez.

    20. Hear, hear! :aheartbea

It certainly has for me, to the point where I regret my efforts. :|

    21. There needs to be a "like" button for great comments, Armeleia... Can I borrow they horse/paste one from you... I love it ;)

    22. Coming back to the wigs and now that voting is closed can I say what fantastic work everyone did? I didn't enter this contest (moving house = no craft space) but I am awestruck by what people achieved - and more awestruck looking at the before pictures - in all cases the starting position really was perfectly ordinary and all the character was added in the creative process. I'm very impressed.

    23. Isn't that just about the greatest thing ever? I bellowed, I was laughing so hard :)

    24. None of the entrants should regret their efforts, because the wigs are beautiful and amazingly creative! :chocoheart

    25. This was a competition I really looked forward to watching and voting on and the entries were fabu, I was not disappointed!
I feel I'm not very creative when it comes to doll wigs so seeing everyone's creations was very inspiring.

    26. The winner of a Little Harmony Bear is: MacaronTea with entry #7

    27. MacaronTea--Congrats on a stunning entry! :D

All the entries were fantastic... The mods ran a great contest (disqualifications and all), and everyone who participated showed a lot of creativity and skill!

    28. Congrats MacaronTea! I loved that wig!

    29. Me too! I loved both the additions and the enhanced colours
